Bug#1000975: qtox: Crashes on Ctrl+F and typing/searching some word

2021-12-01 Thread rv
Package: qtox
Version: 1.17.3-1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: riveravaldezm...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Seeing any contact chat, pressing Ctrl+F to open search-bar, then typing,
let's say, a "long" word like 'transparency', deleting some characters,
adding others, etc.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

qTox crashes consistenly, this is all I got from terminal (nothing on dmesg
nor journalctl):

$ qtox
(...)
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::out_of_range'
  what():  map::at
Abortado

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Simple search-results found on-the-fly, as seems to be the GUI intention.

Please, let me know if there's something I could do to help solve this.

Thanks a lot and kind regards.

Bug#998356: jami: No line-break in chat

2021-11-02 Thread rv
Package: jami
Version: 20210112.2.b757bac~ds1-1
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: riveravaldezm...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer, hi,

I reported this issue to the Jami developers there:

https://git.jami.net/savoirfairelinux/jami-project/-/issues/1336

In the chat/conversation window when a message is long instead of line-breaks
the text goes out of the bubble and even out of the window (even in maximized
window).

There are a couple of screen-captures in the link above.

The response from Jami-devs has been:

> Hi,
> 20210112 is not from our team and very old.
> We provide a repo for debian and snap repo:
> Regards,

, so, I'm not sure if this requires upgrading/updating the version or what...
(considering that in Stable that's uncommon, maybe this serves some purpose
for the Testing version?).

Let me know if I can help providing any info.

Kind regards!

Bug#997848: pcmanfm: BadWindow error from xarchiver

2021-10-25 Thread rv
Package: pcmanfm
Version: 1.3.2-1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: riveravaldezm...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Not sure, probably some xarchiver action started from pcmanfm that failed.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

I got the next message in terminal:

xarchiver 0.5.4 © 2005-2014 Giuseppe Torelli
xarchiver 0.5.4.17 Ingo Brückl
The program 'pcmanfm' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 568666 error_code 3 request_code 38 minor_code 0)

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Normal behaviour.

PCManFM is working fine in general.
I'm just reporting this in case it has any relevance.
But could be perfectly closed as far as there seems to be no issues right now.

Kind regards and thanks a lot.

Bug#983352: htop: "Also show CPU temperature" option shows "N/A"

2021-02-22 Thread rv
Package: htop
Version: 3.0.5-4
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: riveravaldezm...@gmail.com

Hi,

seems to be an upstream issue:

https://github.com/htop-dev/htop/issues/529

"Temperature is showing as N/A when enabled on a Via Eden x2 u4200 even though
libsensors is actually installed.
O.S.: Arch Linux
Device: HP t510 Thin Client"

(I reported my case there.)

And related to:

https://github.com/htop-dev/htop/issues/538

"At the moment htop has hardcoded list of x86-64 cpu sensors. So it does not
read them on my computers ;(
For now I added 'acpitz' to hardcoded list but that's not a good solution."

But, just in case, I'm informing here too.

Let me know if I can do anything else.

Thanks a lot and best regards!

If possible, it would be great to have JACK support by Jami as an audio server

Bug#978614: midori: WebKit seems to hang and make overwork the CPU

2020-12-29 Thread rv
Package: midori
Version: 7.0-2.1
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: riveravaldezm...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Simply launching Midori and trying to read some sites (e.g., Wikipedia).

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

CPU starts to work a lot (100%) and `htop` shows a WebKit process as
responsible. Closing tab, opening a new one o closing midori seems to work to
stop the job.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Closing the tab stops the CPU hang, but it appears again in almost any
website...

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Normal navigation. No CPU work in static pages like Wikipedia.

Let me know if I could give more info.
Thanks a lot! Kind regards.

Hi, good day,

starting JWM and trying to move a window using the keyboard results in a crash

Tried it twice with exactly the same result, this is from dmesg:

**Steps to reproduce:**
- Log-in into JWM
- Open a terminal (xterm, I guess) with: Alt+F1 > Terminal > Enter
- From that terminal launch lxterminal ($ lxterminal &) [This is probably
unnecessary.]
- With the focus on the new window (lxterminal in this example) used Alt+F2 to
open the window-menu, then choose 'Move', then Enter, then crash.

That's it.

Hope this helps, let me know if I can add any useful information.

Best regards and thanks a lot, hope you're right!

Bug#976248: bluefish: Right-click on the little bookmark square crashes Bluefish (segment violation)

2020-12-01 Thread rv
Package: bluefish
Version: 2.2.12-1+b1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: riveravaldezm...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

when you open Bluefish, write some characters, and press Ctrl+K (generating a
bookmark, which is visible as a little black square at the beginning of the
line), if you right-click over that little black square then Bluefish crashes
and get closed, with a 'segment violation' message.

Let me know if you need any info.

Best regards!

That las 'u' shouldn't be there.

Bug#973887: alsa-utils: alsamixer default Sound Card hangs (high CPU usage) with `pulseaudio --kill`

2020-11-06 Thread rv
Package: alsa-utils
Version: 1.2.3-1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: riveravaldezm...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

AFAICT, last system update (yesterday).

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

With alsamixer running in a separated terminal [F6: Sound Card : - (default)] I
did `pulseaudio --kill`.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

CPU starts to work a lot and non-stoping. Going to alsamixer and doing F6:
select another Card (the '0' one, for instance) stops this hang. But then when
trying to choose again '- (default)' I have this message:
> Error
> Cannot open mixer device 'default'.
> Connection refused

Which I suppose it's OK since PA is not running.
If I do `pulseaudio --start` and try again alsamixer seems to recover
('default' appears again).

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Not high-CPU-hanging, I suppose.

Thanks a lot. Best regards.

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

But PA seems to be running fine and audio works (for instance, with mplayer and

Bug#972666: flatpak: Fonts not being found

2020-10-22 Thread rv
Package: flatpak
Version: 1.8.2-3
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: riveravaldezm...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

after discovering that the flathub Scribus app doesn't find the whole of the
system installed fonts I informed about there:

https://github.com/flathub/net.scribus.Scribus/issues/21

Following advice I tested it with AbiWord and found the same issue (which seems
as a flatpak issue, therefor this report).

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Essentially I created a file with AbiWord/Scribus (debian repositories
packages) and applied a specific font to a text and saved. Now, opening those
files with AbiWord/Scribus (flatpak apps) results in the program not finding
the font.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

That flatpak has access to all installed fonts.

Thanks a lot, let me know if I can give any useful info.

Best regards!

Bug#972534: scribus: Inconsistent behaviour with lines selection

2020-10-19 Thread rv
Package: scribus
Version: 1.5.5+svn23928+dfsg-1+b2
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: riveravaldezm...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Seems like a problem of the version. Can't think of anything that I've done
that could have originated it.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

When a file has multiple lines (object line) the selection seems odd. Clicking
over some lines will produce the selection of others, which are distant of the
clicking point.
With multiple pages clicking in a clear space of one page will select some line
in some other, distant page - or even creat a line randomly, apparently - and
then if one moves the selected object let's say being in page 2, the view will
jump to let's say page 10, where the randomly selected line is.
I tried with File > Preferences > Default (button) with no modification of this
behaviour.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Essentially, to click in a line and get that line selected.

Thanks a lot, let me know if I can give any other useful information.

Best regards.

2020-09-26 Thread rv
Package: leafpad
Version: 0.8.18.1-5
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: riveravaldezm...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

On Debian Testing (updated) I've seen this bug for a couple of years now.
Using PCManFM's built-in remote-server connection (Menu: Go → Connect with
server) and choosing SSH you can mount a remote filesystem. Now, if in any
folder of that system you edit a plain text file with leafpad and save it, all
the file content gets erased.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

With leafpad this problem is consistent.
With other editors (nano, mousepad) the problem doesn't exists.
If the mounting is done through sshfs, then leafpad works fine.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Edit and save a file with leafpad on this circumstances (using PCManFM's
built-in connection method) results in complete deletion of all file's content.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Normal edit-and-save.

Bug#969264: firmware-iwlwifi: failed to load iwl-debug-yoyo.bin (-2)

2020-08-30 Thread rv
Package: firmware-iwlwifi
Version: 20200721-1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: riveravaldezm...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

AFAIK, 'sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade' and reboot.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Nothing at all, I've just encountered this warning at booting-messages.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

So far this seems to be the only relevant info:

$ sudo dmesg | grep iwl-debug-yoyo
[ 15.287545] iwlwifi :03:00.0: firmware: failed to load
iwl-debug-yoyo.bin (-2)
[ 15.287655] iwlwifi :03:00.0: Direct firmware load for
iwl-debug-yoyo.bin failed with error -2

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Not warnings, but the really important: Wi-Fi connection has been behaving
erratically, lots of lags - for instance - in LAN-SSH connections.

$ lspci | grep "Network controller"
03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6205 [Taylor
Peak] (rev 34)

Let me know if there's some useful info I could add.

Thanks a lot. Best regards.

Bug#501303: sudo with mc provides root privileges to users

2008-10-06 Thread Mathieu RV
Package: mc
Version: 1:4.6.1-6
Severity: critical
Tags: security
Justification: root security hole

Hello,

When a user appearing in the sudoers file use the following command :
$sudo mc

Midnight Commander starts within a root shell.
Look at the bottom left of the mc screen : [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~#
Also, 'whoami' reports 'root'.
Then the user as full access to the filesystem has the root user.

It occurs even if the sudoers file do not allow access to the /usr/bin/su
command to the user.

I don't know if it is a feature, but it looks strange to me. I think that
system administrators using sudo functionnalities should be aware of this
behaviour.

PS : This behaviour occurs also with Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy), on a standard desktop
installation.

Thanks.
Regards,
---
Mathieu RV
