I've filed a Debian bug report there too, btw.

It's perfectly possible that has the necessary definitions
just as does. If libgwenhywfar is mucking around in the
internals of libssl, then it deserves to get zapped.

(Also look at libgcrypt, which is the replacement for -lcrypt, also
found in libssl.)

This is not enough. Gnucash is not going to change its license, nor
should it.

Sorry, but it seems that this is rather difficult. We'd need to start
with libgwenhywfar and this seems to use quite a bit of cypher-specific
stuff from openssl/*.h.
Upstream isn't too amused (can't blame him). Christian Stimming kindly
offered to (ask David Hamptoon and) grant a licensing exception for
gnucash-hbci, but I'm not too optimistic that this is enough.

So, there will be no quick resolution of this.

Kind regards

Cool.

In fact, I'm writing a mail to the AqBanking-List about it this moment.
I meant "this is unfortunate and needs to be changed" quite literally.

Kind regards

Well, please treat it as severity whatever you care about HBCI in
gnucash. If 'wishlist' is your version of 'wontfix' then gnucash will
never have this feature. (I can't tell; some Debian developers use it
that way, unfortunately.)

Does this actually work without changing source?

Ahemm. From the copyright file:

As the copyright holder of AqBanking, Martin Preuss grants the following
license exception:
Martin Preuss explicitly allows the compilation and distribution of
AqBanking with the OpenSSL Toolkit.
No developer is required to provide this exception in a derived work.

This is unfortunate and needs to be changed.

Kind regards

2005-11-24 Thread Thomas Bushnell BSG

Package: libaqbanking
Version: 1.5.99+1.6.0beta-3
Severity: serious

Can you please build libaqbanking against libgnutls-dev instead of
libssl-dev? (This also requires changing -lssl to -lgnutls-openssl.)

libssl-dev is not GPL compatible and cannot be used in a GPLd
program. This means it cannot legally be used in aqbanking, which is
GPLd. It also means that I can't build gnucash against aqbanking as
long as aqbanking is linking against ssl, because I can't link gnucash
against ssl (for the same reason).

Thomas
