Bug#424208: module-init-tools: use of /usr/bin/{sort,uniq} before /usr is mounted
Package: module-init-tools Version: 6.2-3 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable S20module-init-tools calls '... | sort | uniq' but is run at a time during bootup where /usr is not yet mounted, and sort and uniq are, obviously, not available yet: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ # whence -p sort; whence -p uniq /usr/bin/sort /usr/bin/uniq Side note: 'foo | sort -u' does the same as 'foo | sort | uniq' and is usually much faster. This renders the script in question unusable whenever /usr is on a separate filesystem from /, which is usually recommended in most *nix install guides. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid Architecture: kfreebsd-i386 (i686) Kernel: kFreeBSD 5.4-1-486 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=UTF-8) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US.UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/mksh Versions of packages module-init-tools depends on: ii debconf1.5.13Debian configuration management sy ii kfreebsd-image-5.4-1-486 [ 5.4-21kernel of FreeBSD 5.4 image ii libbsd00.0-1.2+r1710 BSD compatibility library - shared ii libc0.12.5-7 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libfreebsd00.0-5 FreeBSD compatibility library - sh module-init-tools recommends no packages. -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. No idea, in this case I suspect there are two different packages with the same name. (I thought they are either the same package, or have different names.) Me disculpe per favore, //mirabile -- I believe no one can invent an algorithm. One just happens to hit upon it when God enlightens him. Or only God invents algorithms, we merely copy them. Because people are assigning it to the module-init-tools binary package instead of whatever the kfreebsd-i386 source package is called.
