Bug#533058: davfs2: Please switch to libneon27-gnutls
Package: davfs2 Version: 1.3.3-3 Severity: wishlist davfs2 uses libneon27, which is linked with OpenSSL. This is OK, since it has a proper GPL exception. But other applications mistakenly linked with libneon27 instead of libneon27-gnutls without such a GPL exception are a constant source of GPL violations. Getting libneon27 phased out in the long term would therefore be a good thing, and having davfs2 moved would be one step of decreasing it's usage. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#533058: davfs2: Please switch to libneon27-gnutls
davfs2 is ignorant about the difference between libneon27 and libneon27-gnutls. It takes whatever the libneon developer package offers (using /usr/bin/neon-config to detect the neon library, no configure option needed). I don't know of any problems with using the gnutls version and to avoid license complications using gnutls is preferred. Indeed I forgot to include an OpenSSL exception in version 1.4.x but I could add it if you wish so. The Debian package of davfs2 currently has a build dependency on libneon27-dev, which is the OpenSSL version. What I'd like to see would be the build dependency of the Debian package changed to libneon27-gnutls-dev, which is the gnutls version. This is not an upstream issue, but an issue in the Debian packaging. Cheers Werner cu Adrian -- Is there not promise of rain? Ling Tan asked suddenly out of the darkness.
