Thanks for the reply, add of gettext as dep. was already done in
cinnamon 3.4.6-1.

Bug#888203: [pkg-cinnamon] Bug#888203: unable to install applets, desklets and extensions in Cinnamon

2018-02-02 Thread Moi .
Hi maintainers

A result of help given on a forum Debian, the solution has been found.

We can install Cinnamon 3.2 minimum version without the recommended
packages or the packages suggested.
For applets, desklets, and extensions are working properly, you need to
install the gettext package.

By itself, it solves the problem, and the installation of the applets is
done without any problem.

For my part, The bug report can be closed ;)

Thank you and good luck :)
Victoria.

Bug#888203: [pkg-cinnamon] Bug#888203: unable to install applets, desklets and extensions in Cinnamon

2018-01-25 Thread Fabio Fantoni
As replied by reporter in another mail install of
cinnamon-desktop-environment metapackage (probably with recommends as I
suggested) solved the problem.
A specific package/s related should be find and should consider if add
to deps (or moved from recommends/suggest), need also to check if some
adds of missed deps done in cinnamon 3.4 packages and 3.6 (in debian
gits) have "already" solved this.

Bug#888203: unable to install applets, desklets and extensions in Cinnamon

2018-01-23 Thread Moi .
Package: cinnamon
Version: 3.2.7-4

I have installed Debian Stretch Cinnamon with the iso Stretch Netinstall,
and I have chosen the installation in expert mode.
I have installed the basic components, and then I installed Cinnamon with
the package cinnamon.
But it is impossible to install or applets or desklets, or extensions.
I looked in the log of the looking glass, no error.
In a terminal, I typed this

cinnamon-settings applets

I tried to install all the applets available online, and I got this as
result

(cinnamon-settings.py:3731): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error:
gtk.css:4101:29: Expected ',' in color definition

(cinnamon-settings.py:3731): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error:
gtk.css:4142:92: The :prelight pseudo-class is deprecated. Use :hover
instead.

(cinnamon-settings.py:3731): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error:
gtk.css:4146:43: The :prelight pseudo-class is deprecated. Use :hover
instead.
Loading Applets module
Gtk-Message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is
discouraged.

Identical results for the desklets, and extensions.

The error encountered for the installation of applets, desklets and
extensions are the following
https://www.pixenli.com/miniature/NZtssaK6
[errno 2] No such file or directory
Sorry for the screenshot, I'm French.

- I have completely uninstalled Cinnamon, purge the configuration files in
the /home
- I am also doing dpkg-reconfigure cinnamon.
- I have turned off the firewall ufw.
- I tried with several internet connections.

With a minimal installation of Debian Testing with Cinnamon, this problem
does not exist, manipulation applied to a virtual machine.
By installing only the package cinnamon, and not cinnamon-core, and not
cinnamon-desktop-environment, everything works, the applet will install.

This is a known bug of Stretch with Cinnamon 3.2.7-4 ??
A problem of dependencies ??
A problem with packaging ??

It is a problem for users that they want to do a custom installation of
Stretch Cinnamon.
And to be deprived of some of the options of this desktop environment.

I hope that my problem will be looked at, treated, and corrected.
I found no similar case in spite of the intensive research on the web.

I use Debian GNU/Linux Stretch 9.3, Cinnamon 3.2.7-4, kernel 4.9.0-5.
Thank you.
