1.22.2+dfsg-1 works. You have to restart Firefox and potentially disable
and then re-enable the addon.

Dear Maintainer,
The same here. Upgrading to 1.22.2+dfsg-1 changes nothing.

The exact name of the directory is different from profile to profile,
but I can confirm that removing it helped.

Thanks,

Seems to be solved by deleting

storage/default/moz-extension+++ff6be181-e50d-4996-8007-976500de938b

in profile directory. The settings such as lists are saved when doing that.

Thanks for reporting. I believe in order to debug this issue it would be
most effective to add your customizations one by one to a new profile
and compare the results. There will be a new firefox-esr version at the
end of the year, so it could make sense to try the most recent Firefox
release in Debian too and to use this one for debugging. If we can
narrow the issue down, I can file an upstream bug report.

Regards,

Markus

Bug#931640: webext-ublock-origin: no longer functional in firefox-esr

2019-07-08 Thread Sven Joachim
Package: webext-ublock-origin
Version: 1.19.0+dfsg-2
Severity: important

After upgrading from 1.18.4+dfsg-2 I found that uBlock Origin was no
longer functional in firefox-esr. Some observations so far:

- uBlock Origin is still listed in about:addons and not deactivated, but
there is no "Settings" button anymore to get to the dashboard.

- Trying to load the dashboard manually by pasting
  moz-extension://----/dashboard.html
into the address bar hangs (just displays the spinning wheel in the
tab bar, and nothing else happens).

- There is no icon in the toolbar, and no entry in the context menu when
right-clicking somewhere in a web page.

- The web is full of crappy ads.

In a fresh profile uBlock Origin works, so apparently there is some
incompatibility with this version and my highly customized profile.

For now I have downgraded to 1.18.4+dfsg-2, which involved temporarily
removing webext-ublock-origin because of the symlink → directory changes
in 1.19.0. Any advice would be appreciated, I am at a loss.
