That would be nice and increase the chance that anybody adopt the Debian
package, I think.

Bug#295497: twiki: bin/gnusave bug (patch included)

2005-02-16 Thread Frank Horowitz
Package: twiki
Version: 20040902-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

The bin/gnusave routine missed an intermediate step in it's path to
decodeSpecialChars(). Patch attached.

I'm still seeing other problems though in new install. If I find and fix them,
I'll follow up with another bug report.

Fine.
So create an exception. Or make kernel-package build kernel-headers with
that symlink. Or both.
The point is, this isn't about some one-off kernel image build, we're
talking official Debian images here.

That option is very well hidden. Please consider shipping a default
configuration that saves users from violating the FHS to make the
package work.

I'm not sure if that's needed, it would be just one more question to have to

Ah ok thanks.

OK how about,

"At the end of the initial install process the system can attempt to eject any
install media that was used as part of the install. This is normally done so
the system will boot from the new install, rather than the install media. If
you do not want the system to attempt to eject you can disable it and take
responsibility for any potential boot device ordering issues."

The non-translatable was recommended by fjp, I think so it could be added and
not be blocked by the string freeze?

Create an exception for what?

That's silly. I may have kernel-headers packages installed
that have nothing to do with the running kernel; testing out
different configs. The link belongs with the kenel image; upstream
installs /lib/modules/$version when you install the kernel-image, and
  kernel-package does the same

So the next time you break official kernel packages, talk to
the kernel-package maintainer _first_. I'll put a kludge in around

I shall rephrase: This is a Debian wishlist request, reported via the
Debian Bug Tracking system as a bug with severity wishlist, as it is
the usual procedure in Debian.

This is too complicated. I'll continue to talk about bugs when I mean
wishlist requests ;)

That's fair enough :-) I'd prefer a little util package that all nomad
packages can depend on - but I'm not that deep into hotplug - maybe
such things should go there.

I rasied the bug simply due to the fact that when you search for a
solution to this problem the search results show many others after the
solution - and a couple of places with the answer.

To be honest - I'm not sure the average user is bothered as long as
"it works" :-) Anyhow - thanks for getting gnomad2 into debian - nice
to get a package rather than self compiling :-)

Bug#291561: some more data

2005-02-16 Thread Francesco Potorti`
Apparently the same happens with most (all?) user-defined rules.

When a rule that I define in my user_prefs file hits, spamc (but not
spamassassin) computes its score as 1.00, always, even if it is
negative!

Don't know if it alwyas happens, but it often does. This is a serious
problem, because it can lead to false positives!

I think the severity of this bug should be raised to important.

It is the same with -F 32 : seek failed.

Note that it works on real devices. It fails only with files ( -C option ).

It's not a major bug, dude. Nor is it breakage at all; it's a feature.
The build symlink is meant to allow out-of-tree modules to build
correctly without having to add lots of KSRC=this and KERNEL_DIR=that to
the make invocations.
Unless you disagree...

You are right, this is a drawback. We can still give lmodern.sty a new
version number, even if it is in fact the tfm files that have changed,
to ease debugging a little.

This would only be the case if lmodern.sty was included in the document
in a filecontents environment, wouldn't it?

Bug#295500: wajig: Update gives wrong number of new packages

2005-02-16 Thread David Liontooth
Package: wajig
Version: 2.0.22
Severity: minor

Something appears to have gone wrong with the new package count in recent
versions of wajig -- not sure where it started. Consider this snippet:

Replacing available packages info, using /var/cache/apt/available.
Information about 16400 package(s) was updated.
This is the same as the previous count with 9795 new packages.
There are 11 new upgrades
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# wajig new
No new packages

It may be the very latest version, 22. I had the same behavior yesterday.
The response to the command wajig new is correct and not affected.

Cheers,
Dave

Bug#295501: gv does not accept --scale or --scalebase option

2005-02-16 Thread Christophe Martin
Package: gv
Version: 1:3.6.1-7
Severity: normal

Hello,

As soon as I use --scale or --scalebase options, gv simply does not open
the file.

exemple :
gv /usr/share/doc/gs-gpl/examples/tiger.eps.gz
works perfectly, but
gv --scale -4 /usr/share/doc/gs-gpl/examples/tiger.eps.gz
does not.s
--scale -4 is understood by gv because in this case the window is
smaller ; but no file is opened.
If you open the file using the open button then every thing works.

I used update-alternatives to use gs-gpl or gs-afpl. It does not
matter.

This option (well, -scale instead of --scale) worked well under woody
:-(

Ah. Some genius creates a image and header package of a kernel
version that can't be installed together without warnings, and
it is a feature? Could have fooled me.

So why not do it right, eh, dde?

I disagree with the sloppy execution.

In the past, the kernel folks used to ask for features, which
I have never been known to reject out of hand. No that I am againt
people tacking on features outside of kerel-package, if only they get
 it right ...

Indeed. Perhaps

might work.

No. Addresses are also unique, and if the short form (as determined by
search and domain directives in /etc/resolv.conf) is entered as
host_name that's all you really need for the host.

It might be simpler to write a pre-init script that parses the config
and writes out the address if needed from the hostname.

No. It would indeed be very simple to add this functionality to the core
code (2 extra if()'s in the xodtemplate_add_host() function). I've
suggested it myself for the alias variable which is only required for
the cgi's.

Most boring thing of setting up nagios is writting big configuration
files.
But some little changes could in my opinion short and increase
readability of this files.

In my hosts.cfg I have a lot of sections like this:
define host{
 use my-generic-host
 host_name myhost.com
 alias myhost.com
 address myhost.com
 check_command check_ssh
}
In most of my hosts host_name is equal to alias and address, so it
could be written like this:

define host{
 use my-generic-host
 address myhost.com
 check_command check_ssh
}
But it cannot be done as host_name, alias and address are necessary.
I would like that in host_name and alias absence they would take
address value. So I could say the same with less text making it easier
to write, read, change, mantain, understand...

Bug#295504: grub-install: fails to notice a segfault in $grub_shell

2005-02-16 Thread Michael Gold
Package: grub
Version: 0.95+cvs20040624-14

/sbin/grub segfaults on my amd64 system when called from grub-install,
due to bug #293722. The grub-install script doesn't notice this, states
"No error reported", and exits normally. Sample output:

==
iria:~# grub-install /dev/sda
/sbin/grub-install: line 516: 5065 Segmentation fault $grub_shell --batch
root $root_drive
setup $force_lba --stage2=$grubdir/stage2 --prefix=$grub_prefix $install_drive
quit
EOF

Installation finished. No error reported.
This is the contents of the device map /boot/grub/device.map.
Check if this is correct or not. If any of the lines is incorrect,
fix it and re-run the script `grub-install'.

(hd0) /dev/hda
(hd1) /dev/sda
iria:~#
==

One effect of this bug is that debian-installer didn't notice the error
when installing grub on my system, and the initial reboot failed.
grub-install should return a non-zero exit code if $grub_shell is
terminated by a signal.

Adding '|| exit 1' to line 512 should fix this bug (this is untested):
# Now perform the installation.
$grub_shell --batch $no_floppy --device-map=$device_map || exit 1 <$log_file

I like the idea of 3 people co-maintaining the package.
There is a lot of work that could be done. I also talked to
Eric Raymond and he says that he will have a look on the
program if there is anything important so we can count on
his work too.
With one who can upload packages we are complete I think.

When is a bug not a bug? When it's reported by Debian.

"When I use a word, it means exactly what I intend it to mean" - Humpty
Dumpty.

OK. I will try to remember that when a Debian person says "bug" they
don't necessarily mean it. I won't therefore give reports containing the
word "bug" as much priority as I might have. That is, I won't look at
them as urgently as I normally do. That's what you get for using
imprecise language. :-)

I tried that setup now too:
128M /boot, First primary partition, Ext3, boot-flag on
256M swap, Second primary partition
6G /, Third primary partition, Ext3

When I boot with expert26 I can select the bootloader.
If I select GRUB, I get GRUB GRUB GRUB GRUB on reboot.
When I select LILO, I get L 02 02 02 02 after reboot :(

If I boot from the CD then, with linux26 root=/dev/hda3, I get a
kernel panic, something like: VFS: Unable to mount root, unknown
block(0,0).
If I boot the installation CD, load the installer components, execute
a shell, and start cfdisk, I get: FATAL: Unable to read disk.
If I boot Knoppix 3.7 and start cfdisk, It can see the partition
scheme I set up in the Debian installer. I can also mount hda3. fcsk
finds no errors. The installed Debian system appears to be there.

It appears that the bug is in the kernel used on the Sarge Installer
NetInst CD, the partitioner, or the parameters it passes to grub/lilo
when installing them.

You are correct in that I don't know what causes the problems. But
I know the result: on the second $(MAKE) recursion the kernel_version.mk
expansion variables are broken. The variables contain the stderr output
("make[2]: Entering...") instead of stdout output of the recursive call
(despite the fact that $(MAKE) is called with the -s option...)

I think removing the kernel_version.mk feature is a quick solution
to make the kernel-package work again. The real problem can be solved
later with more time to look at it.

leider auch hier nur die übliche Antwort:

No, sorry. It is upstream's job to monitor CTAN and keep the
distribution up-to-date, and to check that things do work together. We,
the Debian teTeX maintainers, have a hard enough job in maintaining
teTeX as it is, and cannot do this additional job. You know, it's not
just acronym.sty which is outdated, it is essentially the complete
package.

teTeX-3.0 is out (the architecture-all packages are in experimental, but
unusable with the architecture-any stuff which is stuck in NEW), but
won't make it into sarge (too much changes, too much packages
build-depending on us).

For etch, we are planning to support an additional TEXMF tree where
packages can place newer versions of files that exist in teTeX; but for
now you can only use TEXMFLOCAL or HOMETEXMF.

Oh, sorry; I did not know tetex-extra actually has a single upstream

Removable flag looks good:
>cat /sys/bus/ide/devices/0.1/block/removable
>1

Model looks good as well:
>grep "IOMEGA ZIP *" /proc/ide/hdb/model
>IOMEGA ZIP 100 ATAPI

> Also, does only /dev/hdb4 have the wrong permissions or /dev/hdb too?

It's only /dev/hdb4, all other /dev/hdb* (including /dev/hdb itself)
have group floppy as expected.*

For the record, it's also recognised as a floppy:
>grep "floppy*" /proc/ide/hdb/media
>floppy

Also, when I manually change the group to floppy and then mount, udev
changes the group back to disk with the following entry
in /var/log/syslog:

Feb 16 20:41:31 aurich udev[8428]: removing device node '/dev/hdb4'
Feb 16 20:41:31 aurich kernel: /dev/ide/host0/bus0/target1/lun0: p4
Feb 16 20:41:31 aurich udev[8441]: creating device node '/dev/hdb4'

Is there any kind of debug mode for udevd whre I can see what rule it
uses and applies to what node? I've played a bit with udevinfo but that
wasn't too fruitful. It seems to be more geared towards providing
information about the hardware. Am I overlooking something?

Cheers
Andree

* When manually stopping udev (yeah, not recommended, I know ;-) ), all
/dev/hdb* device nodes have group disk. I believe this is perfectly
  normal, though, isn't it?

hotplug-ng does not renames network interfaces. But if you use udevsend

AFAICS if your mirror-admin uses the standart mirror-script from

But all of this only work if you persue your local mirror admin to use
the script from above mentioned URL.

I enhanced that script a bit (which can be found at
http://helas.dyndns.org/~hel/debian/anonftpsync-new) so pool is synced
before packages lists.

upgrading to the latest udev package and modifying the hotplug init

Bug#294099: multiple security holes in XPM code (CAN-2004-0914)

2005-02-16 Thread Martin Pitt
Hi!

Please note that the new upstream only fixes lesstif2, not lesstif1:

This directory contains fixed sources:

  http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/lesstif/lesstif/lib/Xm-2.1/

However, this doesn't:

  http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/lesstif/lesstif/lib/Xm/

However, fixing that is an enormous task. In this directory the Xpm
source is merged into one big C file and function names have been
renamed, so that the hge patch must be applied manually.

Well, i believe the bug is most assuredly in your bios, or something. I am not
an x86 specialist so i cannot help you on this. Having the /boot outside of
the LVM setup should be enough to make it work.

Try creating a / of 512MB as first and only partition at the start, and do a
install into it, then if this works, try doing a /boot of 128MB and then a /
of 512MB, and see if it still works.

If both of these are ok, try a /boot of 128MB, followed by a LVM of 512MB in
which you put /. This should work too.

If i remember well, grub should not need anything outside of /boot, so it
should work. IF there is still trouble, probably grub-installer or
lilo-installer is broken.

Friendly,

Sven Luther

In addition, lesstif1 does not even contain the previous Xpm fix
(CAN-2004-0687 and CAN-2004-0688).

What a mess. :-(

Thanks for the bug report. Just yesterday I found this bug myself. I was
wondering why the settings were not used. The patch in mimedefang.pl got
lost between versions 2.43 and 2.44.

spamc and mimedefang are both perl programs which use the spamassassin
perl packages. Every program specifies which preferences file to use.
spamc uses local.cf, mimedefang.pl uses normaly sa-mimedefang.pl.

I think, this is correct. What "privileged" items do you want to use here?

2005-02-16 Thread Ryszard Lach
Package: mysql-server
Version: 4.0.23-6
Severity: wishlist

In my.cnf there is only possibility to turn log on or off. Turning on
gives lot of info (including queries), turning off - disables any
output, also info about start/stop/crash.

In mysql-server's startup script (/etc/init.d/mysql) there is no
variable to include --error-log directive. I think it sholud be always
included, or, eventually, configurable via /etc/defaults/mysql. Rotation
for this log should be done also, of course.

Bug#295506: zsh: End-key changes case of several characters insted of going to eol

2005-02-16 Thread Benjamin Peter
Package: zsh
Version: 4.2.4-2
Severity: important

Hi,

I am not absolutely shure if the source of problem is zsh
but since it is reproducable on several terminals and the
problem doesn't exist with bash, I decided to tell you
about it.

I type e.g. 'gvim .trosmo' and use the Arrow keys to move
back to the beginning of the string and then hit the
'End'-key to jump at the end of the line it results
in: 'GVIM .TRosmo'. And the Backspace key doesn't work
anymore. It just moves the curser one to the left without
removing a character.

Numbers remain numbers.
Some examples:

'11eee111'becomes '11EEE111'
'abcdefghijk' becomes 'ABCDEFGHijk'
'abCDefghijk' becomes 'ABcdEFGHijk'

Independent from that the 'Insert'-key makes lower-case
characters to upper-case and vice versa.

This is reproducable in aterm and also in Eterm, in xterm
only the 'Insert'-key is does the upper/lowercase thing.

On Linux vitrual terminal 'End' workes as expected but
'Insert' produces a tilde.

Term settings are:
aterm TERM=rxvt
Eterm TERM=Eterm
xterm TERM=xterm
vt TERM=linux

Since I use End and Home really a lot, it makes working
with zsh quite hard for me.

Please tell me if you need more information or wether it is
a problem of a different program or even my own.

Thank you.
Benjamin Peter

Sorry for the delay.. From the look at your logs it seems that all events are
actually sent to hal and after reading the hal code somewhat more the warning
seems quite strange.

Can you run the hal package with the extra debug info again. But then also run
hald manually as root with: hald --drop-privileges --verbose=yes --daemon=no

And again, mail me the logs like you did the last time, but also the last part
of the hald output (thus everything from the moment you plugged in your camera)

I tried doing that, but lintian complained, saying it was required.

Bug#295509: bugs.debian.org: please consider changing the "Bug" tag in e-mail subjects

2005-02-16 Thread Marc Haber
Package: bugs.debian.org
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

some upstream authors feel offended when a Debian maintainer forwards
a wishlist request from the BTS since the BTS uses the bad word "Bug"
in the subject. This has in at least one case led to an upstream
author publicly stating that "Bugs" from the Debian BTS will be
treated with lower priority since we also flag wishlist requests as
"bug".

Please consider changing the e-mail subject to something less
offensive, like "Ticket", or "BTS". The last thing we need is offended
upstream authors.

Greetings
Marc

Hi,
(sorry for top posting and missing mail-headers, my webmailer sucks)

I already packaged cpufrequtils, it's simply waiting in the NEW queue, I'm
waiting for it to enter sid I'll then update to the latest version (there are
no new important features in the 0.2-pre version though)

bugs.debian.org/278767
You should probably merge this bug with 278767.
Also, the package is pretty simple and doesn't require much maintainance, don't
know if com-maintaining it is necessary.

 them (cpufreq-info and cpufreq-set).

Could you, please, add some directives (maybe commented out) to my.cnf
showing how to configure errorlog and add a comment about logging to
syslog? Now it is not obvious how is it configured - you provide
logrotate configuration for rotation of mysql.err and I've had to look
at mysql docs to check how to generate this log. I thing it would be
sufficient to add

#log-error = /var/log/mysql/mysql.err

near

#log-slow-queries = /var/log/mysql/mysql-slow.log

and maybe a notice, that that isn't nessessary because of syslog
configuration.

Regards,

Richard.

Bug#295511: Fork bomb in default make completion

2005-02-16 Thread Tore Anderson

Package: zsh
Severity: critical

When trying to tab complete anything after make in a directory with
the Makefile from Cisco's software iSCSI initiator, the shell initiates
a fork bomb, grinding the system to a halt.

This is for me 100% reproducable with zsh 4.2.4-2 on i386 with the
 following steps:

  1) Save the attached Makefile to some directory.
  2) Save all your work and sync your file systems.
  3) Push the aforementioned directory onto the shell's directory stack
  4) Type "make " and then hit the TAB key.
  5) Enjoy the frantic sound of your hard drive as kswapd starts
trashing - if you're quick you may also be able to get a "ps"
listing of the hundreds of child processes before the system ends
up in a totally unusable state.

Oh and by the way, I initiate the completion stuff like this in
 my .zshrc:

autoload -U compinit; compinit

Good morning. I launched xmms several times from a Run... window in
KDE before noticing that something was going wrong:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ xmms
libmikmod.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Inconsistency detected by ld.so: ../sysdeps/generic/dl-tls.c: 72:
_dl_next_tls_modid: Assertion `result <= _rtld_local._dl_tls_max_dtv_idx'
failed!

GOTO, in your last message to this bug you state that the next
libc6 release you will include a fix for this, but I have the
latest (-20) from Dec and I have this problem.

My kernel is 2.6.7 vanilla, nvidia drivers, libc6-i686 libraries,
and Debian testing.

I reinstalled xmms, but that didn't fix the problem.

Also, the bug says that is fixed upstream. If, as Daniel says in
#207872, the patch was rejected upstream, you should remove the tag.

Do not hesitate to ask for further information.

Best regards,

Ender.

Bug#295512: mozilla should support .mailcap

2005-02-16 Thread Marc Lehmann
Package: mozilla

The subject says it all. My ~/.mailcap contains (among many other things):

to handle this type (unless I configure it within mozilla).

Hrm... Do you have mod_perl loaded, by any chance?... I've just been
segfault hunting, and I've noticed I can trigger some seemingly random
segfaults with both mod_perl and mod_php4 loaded.. :/ Nothing matchings
your backtrace, but on the other hand, I'm getting three (!) different
backtraces right here, so who knows if a fourth may show up. :)

This will not happen, hotplug-ng uses a C program and anyway on udev
systems udevsend will be used as the hotplug multiplexer.
OTOH, when udevsend is used then udev should be able to rename the
interfaces before other hotplug scripts are run.

It seems README.Debian contains incorrect information - there is no
python-utidylib (and any other binary) package in http://mentors.debian.net/
I included deb http://mentors.debian.net/debian/ unstable main in my
sources.list and got this error:

Btw, there are several new versions (0.8.5, 0.8.6 and 0.9.9) of epox
released some time ago, so maybe it's a time to upload new version into
Debian ? ;)

Also zope-epoz package description points to old homepage:

New homepage is http://mjablonski.zope.de/Epoz

Otavio remembered me that ideally, the debconfified postinst script i am using

and a postinst script for using it.

This bug report is to ask that you add such a config script and the
accompanying /etc/kernel/config.d directory.

2005-02-16 Thread Fred Ringwald
Dear Hamish,

This type of bug closure causes me to have little confidence in the
Debian bug tracking system. While version changes occurred in xlibs
and pcb in the 2001 timeframe, the bug I filed was based on the very
latest versions of these packages in the Debian testing distribution.
I upgrade my installation every few days.

Also, your statement "I think this bug . . . has been fixed . . . ."
tells me you don't know if it has actually been fixed, or if it has
cropped up again. Without knowing, how can you close the bug report??

Bug#295514: interferes with interface renaming

2005-02-16 Thread martin f krafft
Package: ifplugd
Version: 0.26-1
Severity: minor

ifplugd and waproamd exit if the interface name does not start with
"eth*|wlan*|ath*|pan*". I do not see a reason why they should do so.
Moreover, if udev or ifrename first change that name, ifplugd will
simply not work.

If there is no real reason why to check for a specific interface
name, please remove the check.

PS: this will be cloned to waproamd.

Sometimes i have to use ad-hoc mode. It would be nice if it could
automatically be configured when the other machine is close by. The
wireless test, however, only checks the managed mode "spectrum". It
would thus be really nice if an additional parameter like "mode"
could be specified on the wireless test line.

Bug#295517: gtkfontsel: Gdk error on some truetype fonts

2005-02-16 Thread Nigel Stephens
Package: gtkfontsel
Version: 1.1-6
Severity: normal

I'm sure that this is really a bug in the gtk libraries, or in the X
server, and not in gtkfontsel. But I don't know how to pin point this,
so I'm reporting it here first. Hopefully you can forward it to the
appropriate maintainers.

When attempting to display the "bitstream vera sans", or it appears
any truetype font, gtkfontsel exits with the following message:

Gdk-ERROR **: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
  serial 1104 error_code 2 request_code 45 minor_code 0

Note that I'm using the X server's builtin truetype support, and not a
font server. My font path looks like this (from "xset q")

Bug#295518: guessnet: lack of MII causes 'disconnected' test to be successful

2005-02-16 Thread martin f krafft
Package: guessnet
Severity: normal

I have not been able to reproduce the problem of #287222 as I do not
have access to that machine right now. However, here's a possibly
related one:

One of my cards is a WLAN card, and it does not support the
SIOCGMIIPHY ioctl. Thus, guessnet says:

  Link beat detection (mii) failed:
  Operation not supported SIOCGMIIPHY failed

However, this causes the disconnected test to be true, which is
wrong. It should only be true if the test was successful and the
link was not detected. If the test failed, then it should be assumed
that a link exists.

Bug#276501: tpb: Shows nothing on on-screen display, if xfonts-base-transcoded, xfonts-100dpi-transcoded, xfonts-75dpi-transcoded not installed.

2005-02-16 Thread Markus Braun
Late answer, sorry!

The information about packages is Debian specific and should not be included
in the manual page. Information about font packages is already included in
/usr/share/doc/tpb/README.Debian. Furthermore xfonts-base-transcoded is a
suggested package.

I'll close this bug report.

Bug#295393: tpb doesn't display on screen unless locale is C

2005-02-16 Thread Markus Braun
Hi,

sadly I can't reproduce the problem. Using the font

-*-lucidatypewriter-*-*-*-*-*-240-*-*-*-*-*-*

starting tpb like

 LANG=en_US.UTF-8 tpb
 LANG=en_US.ISO-8859-15 tpb

doesn't show any problem. Could you provide me your .tpbrc and
locale that causes the problem?
Thanks!

Bug#295522: toolchain-source: please split to orig.tar.gz/diff.gz

2005-02-16 Thread Martin Pitt
Package: toolchain-source
Severity: minor

Currently this package is Debian-native. However, it has a giant
tarball, and reuploading (and processing) 65 MB for each new version
(and also security fix) seems ridiculous.

Please provide an orig.tar.gz tarball and ship fixes in a small
diff.gz.

Thanks,

Bug#295521: zope: locale support in structured text

2005-02-16 Thread Al Nikolov
Package: zope
Version: 2.5.1-1woody1
Severity: normal

In structured text the style formatting (asterics, underscores etc.)
works only for pure ascii sequences. There is a HOWTO demonstrating how
to get other charactersetss to work:

http://www.zope.org/Members/ajung/howto/Locale Support for Structured Text/

But setting in /etc/init.d/zope:

ZOPEOPTS="-L ru_RU.utf8"

does not take any visible effect (ru_RU.utf8 is exists in the system).

If the network card doesn't support MII, then you should avoid using the
"missing-cable". If you are using the stanzas for different network
interfaces, you can specify the list of active stanzas in the "mapping"
section, by just putting the space-separated list of names after a "map"
directive, such as in:

mapping eth0
script /usr/sbin/guessnet-ifupdown
map default: auto
# Only look for the home, work, work1 and club profiles
map home work work1 club

After all, if link-beat is not supported that test does not make sense
anyway.

I do agree that the test should never succeed when link-beat detection
doesn't work, though: please leave this bug open.

Thanks,

Enrico a bit overworked

You're thinking LaTeX, but I'm discussing other formats here, such as
plain TeX. Otherwise, there is no need to fiddle with the TFM files: as
you said yesterday, for LaTeX users, it is sufficient to modify the
fontdimens in lmodern.sty to fix the problem.

But, in order to fix the problem for TeX users, we need to fix the TFM
files. We were considering the possibility of leaving the original TFM
files intact, and adding new ones with fontdimen3 and fontdimen4 fixed.
So, the new files, e.g. cork-fmtt10.tfm, would be usable in plain TeX
with stuff like \font\foobar=cork-fmtt10. I was objecting that a
document containing such code would not compile on a system where
cork-fmtt10.tfm doesn't exist. So, unless the fixed TFM files were
somehow distributed out of Debian, this would encourage users to write
non-portable (Debian-specific) documents. And even if they were
distributed on CTAN, we would have to support these names just about
forever or force people to again modify their documents once lmodern's
upstream releases a fixed version...

Thanks.

Bug#295523: mozilla-firefox: colors changed when exporting to a machine of different endiannes

2005-02-16 Thread Santiago Garcia Mantinan
Package: mozilla-firefox
Version: 1.0+dfsg.1-2
Severity: normal

Hi!

I've seen that the colors of the firefox moving logo that is displayed when
a page is loading, are not the right ones (grey tones) but instead they are
of all kind of colors.

This also happens with buttons and other kind of bitmaps, happens for
example in the themes menu buttons when the saferfox xpanded 2.3.1 theme is
loaded, the forbidden/unavailable buttons (uninstall button when firefox
default theme is selected) are also in weird colours.

I suppose there are a lot of other situations where this can happen, it
seems to be caused because of the change of endianness of the machines, I
run firefox in a i386 based machine and the X server is running at 16 bits
of depth on a powerpc based machine. It seems to happen only with certain
types of bitmaps (happens only with the forbidden buttons in the saferfox
xpanded theme, and not in the available buttons), I guess these buttons are
of different colour depths, ones 8 bits and the others 16 bits or something
similar.

I know that the description I did is bad, so if you want me to explain
something that is not clear, just tell me.

Regards.

Bug#295166: Partitioner bug

2005-02-16 Thread Kero-Chan
Well, as I said, if I don't modify the setup, but just select "Erase
entire harddrive" to let it set up partitions automatically and then
"Finish partitioning", Everything works!!
It installs GRUB, which can then boot Linux! (I'm posting from such a setup.)

The automatic setup is:
20G /, first primary, ext3, boot=ON
384M swap, second primary

This _works_. With the same BIOS. So the bug is not in the BIOS.

I did a package already since the original holder of the ITP didn't

Currently, the priority was not so high to get it uploaded since NEW is
on hold.

I will have a look at the 'status' of getting it in.
