Nothing happened since then, apparently, but as you are already member of the pkg-fonts team, I think that including the package in our SVN is already OK. So, I'll proceed with that...but of course please let me know if you have some objections. What's the status? This has been tagged pending for more than a year. Hmmm, we should have a forgotten tag somewhere in the BTS... I'm adding this to my TODO pile. I will inject the package in the pkg-fonts SVN and set the team as maintainer. Please ping us in one year if nothing happened..:-) Thanks for the prodding, Moritz. signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#612557: apt: Internal Error, AutoRemover broke stuff, when trying to upgrade python-uno
2011/2/9 Konrad Dąbrowski konraddabrow...@yahoo.co.uk: I got the following error and it asked me to file a bug, so I'm doing so. Please tell me if I can help in any way (I will try to keep the system unchanged over the next few days to make sure I can reproduce the bug.) First of all thanks for your report, Konrad! Could you attach your /var/lib/dpkg/status to the bug? (It includes information of all installed packages, so if you don't want to publish it to the world, I would be happy if you could send it privately to me) I guess this change - keep not installed garbage packages uninstalled instead of showing in the autoremove section and installing those (Closes: #604222) is going made here, but I can't really see why at the moment. (I get the expectable Broken packages error on my unstable system) Best regards David Kalnischkies -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#612532: sudo: prompts despite unmodified /etc/sudoers on upgrade
Raphael Hertzog wrote: The point is precisely to deal with the case when the user has not made any change. And for this you would have to move /etc/sudoers aside in preinst upgrade if it matches the md5sum of an unmodified file. Thanks, Raphaël. The main problem with this solution is that it makes it hard to recover in the case of an interrupted upgrade (think power failure). I don't think it makes sense to force the admin to reboot in single user mode in such cases if it is avoidable. But dealing with the scenario above could be a new feature of dpkg-maintscript-helper. Jonathan, do you feel like implementing this? :) I'll look into what needs to happen in dpkg proper. Bdale, if nothing happens in that front soon, the simplest workaround might be to teach sudo to use ucf. Not a dependency I like, but so it goes. Bug#612426: base-files: needs to depend on base-passwd
i have my multistrap config and the output of a run attached. As you can see it is version 2.1.7 but using 2.1.10 results into the same problem. I don't get that problem. Log attached. to make my problem independent from my system configuration i created a fresh debian sid debootstrap environment, installed multistrap 2.1.11 and used the same config i attached in my last mail (now turning on package authentication) the problem didnt occur anymore so it is either to blame on a weird system configuration of mine or a problem that was already fixed in the current version of multistrap - sorry for the confusion and me not testing the issue in a fresh environment before the whole process still exits with return code 0 but this is not the case when i do a multistrap for a foreign architecture and then do `dpkg --configure -a` manually. What do you mean by foreign (if it is foreign, you can't execute programs within the chroot)? I use qemu-arm-static for that now the only problem still left is that annoying dash issue (which is also an old one): Setting up dash (0.5.5.1-7.4) ... No diversion 'diversion of /bin/sh by dash', none removed. This should never be reached dpkg: error processing dash (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 but this is of course not the content of this bug report. this bug can probably be closed as it is not reproducible with the newest multistrap from sid in a fresh chroot environment. josch -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. That would allow us to drop the symlinking in postinst, which could go wrong upon purge when another package needs to resort to the same kludge. Yes, we run TSM with ia32-libs aswell and it works well for us. However I don't know what 'ACL support' means in this context: does it mean the backup will include filesystem acl metadata which can later be restored? Or is it something different? I assume you are symlinking this in the postinst of some tivsm Debian packages. Are those available somewhere? I ask because we have in house packages so I would be interested in comparing them. As for the symlink, this may be possible I'm not sure how much effort there will be put for wheezy for ia32-libs, given multiarch and all. Bug#612532: sudo: prompts despite unmodified /etc/sudoers on upgrade
On 2011-02-09 10:25 +0100, Jonathan Nieder wrote: Raphael Hertzog wrote: The point is precisely to deal with the case when the user has not made any change. Would you be interested in a patch doing that? Before anyone delves into this, have a look at bug #605130 which is exactly the problem that was solved by making /etc/sudoers a conffile. Bug#612578: gnome-screensaver: unresponsive on resume from suspend if external display attached
Package: gnome-screensaver Version: 2.30.0-2 Severity: normal Hi, If I suspend my laptop (thinkpad x201), attach an external monitor via VGA, and then resume, gnome-screensaver is unresponsive. The external display receives a signal (leaves power save) but draws nothing. The gnome-screensaver dialog box appears on my laptop's panel, but the caret is missing (input field not focussed); the mouse pointer not visible (even if I attempt to guess the display geometry and move the mouse across the region occupied by the external display to the internal panel) and tab does not cycle through the input elements. I suspect this situation results in the dialog not having input focus. In this state, I cannot initiate a suspend of the laptop (which I normally do via Fn+F4). If I switch to a text VT, the suspend event is still ignored. However switching back to the X VT resolves the focus problem. Attached is the output of gnome-screensaver --debug --no-daemon during this process. The log begins from when the suspend event was triggered -- I've trimmed output from daemon start to that point because I performed a suspend/resume without the monitor attached to make sure it was working first. The trailing whitespace prior to the ^C was just me hitting enter a few times before killing the daemon. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-5-686-bigmem (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages gnome-screensaver depends on: ii dbus-x11 1.2.24-4 simple interprocess messaging syst ii gconf2 2.28.1-6 GNOME configuration database syste ii gnome-icon-theme 2.30.3-2 GNOME Desktop icon theme ii gnome-session-bin 2.30.2-3 The GNOME Session Manager - Minima ii libc6 2.11.2-10 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libcairo2 1.8.10-6 The Cairo 2D vector graphics libra ii libdbus-1-31.2.24-4 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.88-2.1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libgconf2-42.28.1-6 GNOME configuration database syste ii libgl1-mesa-glx [libgl 7.7.1-4 A free implementation of the OpenG ii libglib2.0-0 2.24.2-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgnome-desktop-2-17 2.30.2-2 Utility library for loading .deskt ii libgnome-menu2 2.30.3-1 an implementation of the freedeskt ii libgnomekbd4 2.30.2-2 GNOME library to manage keyboard c ii libgtk2.0-02.20.1-2 The GTK+ graphical user interface ii libnotify1 [libnotify1 0.5.0-2 sends desktop notifications to a n ii libpam0g 1.1.1-6.1 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libpango1.0-0 1.28.3-1+squeeze1 Layout and rendering of internatio ii libx11-6 2:1.3.3-4 X11 client-side library ii libxext6 2:1.1.2-1 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxklavier16 5.0-2 X Keyboard Extension high-level AP ii libxxf86vm11:1.1.0-2 X11 XFree86 video mode extension l Versions of packages gnome-screensaver recommends: ii gnome-power-manager 2.32.0-2 power management tool for the GNOM ii libpam-gnome-keyring 2.30.3-5 PAM module to unlock the GNOME key Versions of packages gnome-screensaver suggests: pn rss-glx none (no description available) ii xscreensaver-data 5.11-1+b1 data files to be shared among scre -- no debconf information [listener_add_ref_entry] gs-listener-dbus.c:716 (09:37:16): adding throttler from Power screensaver for reason 'suspend' on connection :1.10 [listener_check_throttle] gs-listener-dbus.c:353 (09:37:16): Checking for throttle [list_ref_entry] gs-listener-dbus.c:279 (09:37:16): throttler: Power screensaver for reason: suspend [gs_listener_set_throttle] gs-listener-dbus.c:340 (09:37:16):Changing throttle status: 1 [gs_manager_set_lock_active] gs-manager.c:419 (09:37:16):Setting lock active: 1 [gs_grab_grab_root] gs-grab-x11.c:521 (09:37:16):Grabbing the root window [gs_grab_get_keyboard] gs-grab-x11.c:171 (09:37:16): Grabbing keyboard widget=105 [gs_grab_get_mouse] gs-grab-x11.c:206 (09:37:16):Grabbing mouse widget=105 [gs_manager_create_windows_for_screen] gs-manager.c:1646 (09:37:16): Creating 1 windows for screen 0 [gs_manager_create_window_for_monitor] gs-manager.c:1456 (09:37:16): Creating window for monitor 0 [0,0] (1280x800) [gs_manager_activate] gs-manager.c:1755 (09:37:16): fading out [fade_done_cb] gs-manager.c:1716 (09:37:17): fade completed, showing windows

Hmm. Hmm... The files content in /user doesn't expose anything helpful. They are all owned by root. However, according to my dpkg.log the modification times correlate with the installation of libreoffice-report-builder and dependent libs. Unfortunately, this was the last package I installed from the libreoffice suite, so I can't really tell whether the /user tree has been there before or not. The two log.txt files both contain only one entry, this is probably an indication of the tree not having been there before the installation of libreoffice-report-builder. regards Mario -- Und wie jede Sprache, so hat auch PHP ein Anwendungsgebiet, fuer das es besonders gut geeignet ist. Bug#612462: [Pkg-gnupg-maint] Bug#612462: gnupg: Please provide a win32 port of gpgv
Le Tuesday 8 February 2011 20:36:37 Thijs Kinkhorst, vous avez écrit : On Tuesday 08 February 2011 17:06:37 Didier Raboud wrote: a current flaw of the standalone version of win32-loader (source and binary package in Debian) is that it downloads the d-i kernel and initrds through Internet without any form of checking that those are authenticated binaries from the Debian project (see #442180 for details). In order to solve this, the Windows executable needs to check the signature on the downloaded Release{,.gpg} file and then check the md5sums of various files. The md5sum checksum verification is already implemented (although not uploaded yet) with a md5sum implementation internal to NSIS. There are still missing pieces on FTP-Master side (see #611087, which will get solved in their upcoming meeting, I heard), but I would also need a gpgv.exe that could run on the target Windows host, to check the downloaded Release{,.gpg} files. I'm not aversive to this plan but I do not completely understand it. You need gpgv.exe on the Windows platform, but you cannot install debs there, right? So what would the role of this deb be exactly? Hi Thijs, thanks for your rapid answer. This new binary package would serve the same purpose (and is designed likewise) as cpio-win32 or gzip-win32: they are Build-Depends of win32-loader. During the win32-loader build, they get embedded in the win32-loader.exe Windows executable. When launched, this executable collects some informations from the running Windows host and then uses cpio.exe and gzip.exe to repack a new initrd with embedded preseeding. (The executables are embedded in the win32-loader.exe using the File /oname=$INSTDIR\cpio.exe /usr/share/win32/cpio.exe File /oname=$INSTDIR\gzip.exe /usr/share/win32/gzip.exe commands (in s_install.nsi in current win32-loader git). First argument being the path in Windows, second being the (build-)source of said executables.) Hence I would like to bundle gpgv.exe similarly, in order to unpack it in the C:\win32-loader path ($INSTDIR above), to be able to check Release file signatures, on the Windows host. Is that clearer ? I can develop furthermore if needed. Also I cannot test it. Would you assume responsibility for dealing with potential bug reports for this? If your Debian can run wine, gpgv.exe runs correctly under wine (although with glitches around path handling in the --keyring option; which are workaround'able). But yes, I can handle this, and I'll make sure to be subscribed to gnupg's bugreports if my patch gets accepted. Cheers, OdyX -- Didier Raboud, proud Debian Developer. For instance, my box is running apache which is happily handling ipv4 traffic, but : $ netstat -nl4 | grep ':80' $ netstat -nl | grep ':80' tcp6 0 0 :::80 :::*LISTEN $ This is a problem because one may rely on this output to restrict services to a particular protocol. Proposed fixes : - netstat -nl4 should list ipv6 sockets not using IPV6_V6ONLY. - ipv6 sockets not using IPV6_V6ONLY should be differenciated in the output of netstat. I'll be glad to provide more info, try to implement a fix if my solutions are acceptable, and to test a fixed version. Bug#543064: NMU for cpqarrayd FTBFS uploaded to delayed-10
Hi Matt, I have uploaded a proposed NMU to DELAYED-10 in order to go ahead with the patch I posted earlier to this bug. My rationale is as follows: - I have tested the patch and it makes cpqarrayd build and it works on our wide range of Compaq HP SmartArray equipped server hardware (which ranges from old Compaq ML350 to very recent HP DL 360 380). - Currently wheezy has no cpqarrayd. So this version at the very least adds support for a large set of hardware, even if it isn't compatible anymore with others (which is yet unknown). - The patch has apparently worked for other distributions already. - Uploading it very early in the wheezy release cycle makes it possible to discover if and where this patch would give rise to problems which do not occur in our environment. Cheers, Thijs diff -u cpqarrayd-2.3/cpqarrayd.c cpqarrayd-2.3/cpqarrayd.c --- cpqarrayd-2.3/cpqarrayd.c +++ cpqarrayd-2.3/cpqarrayd.c @@ -36,9 +36,11 @@ #include linux/compiler.h #endif +#ifdef WITH_IDA #if defined(__linux__) #include ida_ioctl.h #endif +#endif #if defined(__freebsd__) #include idavar.h @@ -258,7 +260,10 @@ syslog(LOG_INFO, Logging Enabled...); while (keeprunning) { + +#ifdef WITH_IDA status_check(opts); +#endif cciss_status_check(opts); if (keeprunning) { sleep(30); } } diff -u cpqarrayd-2.3/config.guess cpqarrayd-2.3/config.guess --- cpqarrayd-2.3/config.guess +++ cpqarrayd-2.3/config.guess @@ -1,10 +1,10 @@ #! /bin/sh # Attempt to guess a canonical system name. # Copyright (C) 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, -# 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 +# 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 # Free Software Foundation, Inc. -timestamp='2008-01-23' +timestamp='2009-12-30' # This file is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it # under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by @@ -27,16 +27,16 @@ # the same distribution terms that you use for the rest of that program. -# Originally written by Per Bothner p...@bothner.com. -# Please send patches to config-patc...@gnu.org. More or less the same for me, but to the second power: I just need it as a dependency for a package that I just need as a dependency for a package I maintain. :-) Maybe the better idea is to maintain it under the Debian Java Team umbrella. Bug#611469: traceroute: please steal the BSD traceroute manpage
Dmitry Butskoy wrote: The man page was derived from the classic, decades old traceroute implementation from Van Jacobson, with some additions regarding the new features. Okay, so as a start to work on this, I tried to find where the BSD traceroute manpage comes from. Apparently the copy I was looking at (from FreeBSD) was copied from LBL traceroute 1.3.2 at ftp://ftp.ee.lbl.gov/ in 1996. The manual is in there, too. The copyright notice makes it clear that the manual, like the rest of the code, is from BSD. The code is by Van Jacobson. So if I have understood you correctly, my proposal is to restore some of the original text that was lost over the years. Yes, sudoers is co-owned between sudo and sudo-ldap and needs to be removed when both are purged. I think ucf can handle that. When sudo-ldap or sudo (they conflict with one other) is installed, it can take ownership of the file using ucfr --force. Am I missing something? You still need to remove the file yourself on purge, ucf does not do that for you. How are you going to do that? Hi, sorry for the lag, we didn't actually receive your bug report due to mail size limit on the list. chrysn chr...@fsfe.org (03/11/2010): * run with `LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 ./gcam` (it segfaulted before i used the environment variables; that could have been a mistake of the author, but when x crashes there is definitely a package to blame) X crash = X(server or mesa or something)'s fault, not client's, yes. * Xorg.0.log (whose backtrace mentions /usr/lib/dri/i965_dri.so quite often, thus assigned here) * a strace of the program That triggered the rejection of the mail, 5+ MB. And unfortunately, that doesn't help much. A full backtrace would be nicer: http://pkg-xorg.alioth.debian.org/howtos/use-gdb.html concerning package versions: i've just updated from libdrm-intel1 2.4.21-1~squeeze3 to 2.4.22-1 and the libgl1-mesa packages from 7.7.1-3 to 7.7.1-4 after i first found the problem, but the error occurred in both situations. There's 7.10 in sid now, you may want to give it a try. KiBi. signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#612532: sudo: prompts despite unmodified /etc/sudoers on upgrade

Check if I own the file according to ucf, and if so, remove it. Otherwise, leave it alone. Or do you mean when postrm runs with ucf not installed? I haven't checked what the best practice is, but at worst postrm could parse ucf data on its own (I have seen packages doing that before).
