Bug#705982: Wireless connection drops and will NOT re-connect -- Debian/Wheezy RC1 64 bit
Package: Unknown Version: Wheezy RC1 (64 Bit) HP Pavilion G6 2323DX. Running Wheezy RC1 64 bit. AMD Radeon HD 7640G Discrete-Class graphics card, WITH or WITHOUT proprietary drivers. Power management settings, set to DO NOT SUSPEND. Once any screensaver (gnome-screensaver or xscreesaver) engages, the wireless lan (atheros AR9485 -- using ath9k driver) drops offline, and can not be reconnected, without doing a reboot. Removed all screensavers, it stays connected. Connect box keeps re-appearing multiple instances for wireless connection. Severity: High. Leaves computer physically un-protected. Reproducible. Bug#705983: squid3: Please remove patching of visible_hostname
Package: suqid3 Severity: important Summary: the current squid3 packages are forcing users to manually override the package patch or face HTTP denials from upstream proxies. A good description of what users encounter is documented at http://www.squid-cache.org/mail-archive/squid-users/201304/0112.html Cause: The squid3 package currently patches Squid to forces visible_hostname to always be defined with a value of localhost. This patch appears to be the remnant from Squid-3.0 and older which could abort with FATAL messages when visible_hostname is not successfully auto-detected. However that issue has since been resolved upstream with a default of localhost being used when gethostname() fails. In the thread linked above the ubuntu keyserver machine and the test proxy were both installed from Debian derived packages containing this patch and left with the package defaults. In the working self-build the patch was missing and auto-detection correctly identified the hostname to differentiate the servers. When visible_hostname is configured (manually or via this patch) the Squid auto-detect functionality is completely disabled. Which requires admin to manually override the patched visible_hostname with the hostname which should have beent auto-detected. Bug#702999: SIGABRT sometimes when compiling
Hi Javier Thanks for your info. The error reported by the self-test page can be ignored. Self-tests are actually not meant for endusers and upstream has just this month added the possibility to disable them in the upcoming release. It's probably because you have your own autocompletions defined. As to the new crash, you mention two things: 1. texstudio gets blocked while evince is open I've always used evince with texstudio 2.3 (not the internal viewer) and I've never seen this. This morning I've downgraded to the version you are using. I don't see evince blocking. What do you mean by blocking? I mean that the editor is frozen, I move with the mouse wheel and doesn't happen anything, neither the cursor moves. Does this only happen with the special version or with the normal wheezy version as well? This just happens in the package you told me to use, I am just using that one. 2. crash about an assertion failure (buildmanager.cpp:1058) Your previous post sounds like you get the crash while the self-tests are running. In you latest post it sounds more like the crash is related to evince? I think they are not related. I saw that a self-test failed and nothing more. Has nothing to do in my opinion with the crash: I recorded the crash with gdb: $ gdb texstudio GNU gdb (GDB) 7.4.1-debian Copyright (C) 2012 Free Software Foundation, Inc. Bug#705971: debian-installer hangs when tty console in use (console-setup)
The bug happened when the actual installation of packages started. Unfortunately, I didn't save the log message before rebooting. The TTY I mentioned is one of the text consoles available through Ctrl-Alt-Fx (I would say the one I had was the 3), with a Busybox prompt. When the installer stops and hangs at the console-setup configuration, it is not possible to kill the old busybox process nor start a new one. I guess the 'normal' priority is right, although for me it was a show-stopper for my installation, and I had to abort and repeat the entire process. I'll try to install it again using a VM to see if I can catch it with more details (and snapshots, maybe?). Thanks for the reply. S. Tags: + patch Hi, I'm attaching a very basic patch that adds git support to watch files. With this patch a watch file of the form: version=3 git://anongit.kde.org/bomber.git tags/v([\d.]+) Would get the version status from the tags (thanks to git ls-remote command) and could fetch the corresponding tar.gz (thanks to the --remote option of git archive, this requires that the repository has upload-archive enabled). Both git commands act on the remote repository directly and don't need/nor use the local repository, if any. Bug#705996: Returns before DAD completes, unusable interface
Package: ifupdown Version: 0.7.5+nmu1 Severity: important Tags: ipv6 See http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2012/11/msg00038.html: ifupdown configures v6 addresses on inet6 interfaces just fine, except IPv6 uses DAD (duplicate address detection) as a safe-guard. While DAD is running, the address is flagged tentative on the interface, meaning that it cannot be bound to. Bug#678252: Please drop gcc-4.4 build dependency now
It has been almost a year since the last comment on this bug. Upstream still don't appear to support building the embedded ssl library on the current gcc in a way that works. Can the decision to build with gcc 4.4 instead of disabling the i386 assembly optimisations now be reconsidered? Perhaps with a view to making this change when jessie opens? Note that AFAICT the optimisations are only enabled when __i386__ is defined, so amd64 has been relying on gcc's optimisation for the portable C equivalent anyway. I think it's also reasonable to doubt the usefulness of the assembly that's being used, since it was clearly designed and compared against an older version of gcc, and using a newer gcc invalidates any assumptions that the assembly optimisations provide any performance benefit anyway. There is a regression risk, but only if the underlying code is broken. Since the test suite detected the original problem, I think it's reasonable to consider it to have adequate coverage to manage the risk. So can we now define TAOCRYPT_DISABLE_X86ASM and drop the use of gcc-4.4 please? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#706023: parted: mkpart screws up value if start is 1 plus a unit
Package: parted Version: 2.3-12 Severity: normal Tags: upstream If you try to create a partition starting at 1MiB and ending at the end of the disk by doing: mkpart primary 1MiB -1s You can a warning about alignment (which is obviously wrong given 1MiB is perfectly aligned), and the start is instead 63s. If you do: mkpart primary 2MiB -1s you get exactly what you asked for, and the start is sector 4096 (512byte sectors of course). If you do: mkpart primary 1MiB -1Mib you get exactly what you asked for and the start is sector 2048. mkpart primary 2048s -1s also does what you ask for. mkpart primary 1024KiB -1s also works perfectly. It seems that if you use different units for the two values, and the first value is 1, then it does something messed up. Using 1.0MiB doesn't change the behaviour, it is still broken. -- Len Sorensen -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 powerpc Kernel: Linux 3.8-trunk-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages parted depends on: ii libblkid1 2.20.1-5.3 ii libc6 2.17-0experimental2 ii libdevmapper1.02.1 2:1.02.77-1 ii libparted0debian1 2.3-12 ii libreadline66.2+dfsg-0.1 ii libtinfo5 5.9-10 ii libuuid12.20.1-5.3 parted recommends no packages. Bug#678252: [debian-mysql] Bug#678252: Please drop gcc-4.4 build dependency now
On 2013-04-23 05:17, Robie Basak wrote: It has been almost a year since the last comment on this bug. +1 from me. I have also started working on packing a non-embedded cyassl for Jessie, and I hope to link MySQL 5.6 against it. Presumably MariaDB can do the same. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
Bug#706024: isdnlog-data: should be Multi-Arch: foreign
Package: isdnlog-data Version: 1:3.25+dfsg1-3+nmu2 Severity: wishlist Hi! I am using isdnlog in a mixed 32bit(user)/64bit(kernel) environment, MultiArch is enabled and amd64 is configured as second architecture. To be usable, the isdnutils have to be from the 64bit arch, but isdnlog-data (which is arch:all) does not satisfy the dependency of isdnlog:amd64, because it is not marked as Multi-Arch: foreign. Bug#670711: ucf: should be tagged Multi-Arch: foreign
Hi! (I CC'ed Christian Perrier, because he seems to be the de facto maintainer of ucf these days.) If I understood things correctly, ucf, as an 'Architecture: all' package, needs to be tagged with 'Multi-Arch: foreign' to support multiarch installations. I recently stumbled upon this bug as I was trying to install isdnutils in a mixed 32bit(user)/64bit(kernel) environment. ucf:all was not able to satisfy the dependency of isdnlog:amd64. A local recompile with Multi-Arch: foreign made things work and I have thus far not encountered any problems or bugs by doing so.
