Bug#620813: xserver-xorg-video-s3: laptop display distorted after resume from sleep

2011-04-04 Thread Eric Brown
Package: xserver-xorg-video-s3
Version: 1:0.6.3-2
Severity: important

Running a Dell Latitude C610 with onboard ATI Radeon Mobility. When resuming
from sleep mode, the display is completely distorted. I can still enter my
password to unlock the screen and use keyboard shortcuts to shut down, but
that's it.

This was an occasional problem under Lenny, but occurs consistently under
Squeeze.

2018-08-20 Thread Eric Brown
Hello,

I apologize if this is inappropriate, but given the challenges in
packaging Zotero for Debian, I wanted to point out that there is a
flatpak available on Flathub, with the latest version
(https://flathub.org/apps/details/org.zotero.Zotero), which may be a
solution for some.

Good luck to all trying to package Zotero for Debian.

Eric

Bug#982895: ITP: r-cran-pingr -- A CRAN R package, pingr, which is used to check if a remote computer is up. It can either call the system ping command, or check a specified TCP port.

Description : A CRAN R package, pingr, which is used to check if a remote
computer is up. It can either call the system ping command, or check a
specified TCP port.

This R package is an important dependency for other important
R packages, such as shinytest and codemetaR and is suggested
by major packages such as remotes and devtools.

The package will be maintained by the Debian R package
maintainers team.

I will seek a sponsor from the Debian R package maintainers
team.

Bug#960906: shiny-server -- put Shiny web apps online

2021-02-06 Thread Eric Brown
Hi all,

Unfortunately, I don't have the skills to help out with this. However I
do agree that this would be a particularly useful package to have in
Debian, to more easily deploy and update remote servers.

Further, there is a demand for an ARM build (as evidenced by multiple
tutorials online for running on a Raspberry Pi). Hopefully, the Debian
packaging could also work with ARM, which would greatly simplify current
options.

Thanks everyone involved in getting this packaged.

Bug#996965: bslib and rmarkdown update

2022-04-11 Thread Eric Brown
Hi Andreas,

I can at least identify which .woff files correspond to which fonts,
that is possible with grep. Here's the output:
https://gist.github.com/eebrown/95615fc35af364bd0fae09a69273dbdf

I think deleting the .woff files and seeing if the fonts render
properly when they are installed at the system level is reasonable but
I too am not sure exactly how to try out all the fonts.

If that doesn't work, I guess it would be a matter of symlinking files
to replace the .woff files. This might require a step to derive the
.woff wiles in the format expected by bslib.

Bug#996965: bslib and rmarkdown update

2022-04-11 Thread Eric Brown
Hi again,

I tried to see what happens when the woff files are deleted from bslib.

I cloned the bslib git, deleted the contents of the font folder, built
the R package locally, then tried to render an R markdown document
that uses a bslib theme (minty).
It fails with an error message (below).

pandoc:
/tmp/Rtmp1sYpTM/bslib-ca23be8b2c03436a7d75cedd4667b7ed/fonts/JTUSjIg1_i6t8kCHKm45xW0.woff:
openBinaryFile: does not exist (No such file or directory)
Error : pandoc document conversion failed with error 1
Error: callr subprocess failed: pandoc document conversion failed with error 1
Type .Last.error.trace to see where the error occurred

Best,
Eric

Bug#1033472: adolc: ADOL-C configure step does not enable ColPack

2023-03-25 Thread Eric Brown
Source: adolc
Version: 2.7.2-6
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

A non-Debian package (PSOPT) calls ADOL-C in a way that requires ColPack to be
enabled.

When I inspected the Debian source:

`apt source adolc'

and configure'd, I saw that ColPack did not say "Yes" at configure time, as it
does
when I configure in a tarball distro of ADOL-C.

Possible Fix: add --with-colpack=/usr to debian/rules

Regrettably I am not a Debin package expert to give a better statement of
problem/fix.
I would be happy to answer more questions if someone wishes more information.

Best regards,
Eric

PS This used to work in older Debian's (and downstream such as Ubuntu) so it
may be recent intro.
Now I am on bookworm
