Bug#709970: linux-headers-3.8-2-amd64: module-assistant is asking for the headers but they are already installed

2013-05-27 Thread Josue Ortega
Package: linux-headers-3.8-2-amd64
Version: 3.8.13-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
I am trying to install the vbox module using module-assistant
but it is asking me for the headers of the kernel but they are
installed already here is the trace of the problem whis is
in spanish but I will translate it below

«
# m-a -t a-i virtualbox

apt-get install linux-headers-3.8-2-amd64

linux-headers-3.8-2-amd64 ya está en su versión más reciente.

apt-get install build-essential
Leyendo lista de paquetes... Hecho
Creando árbol de dependencias
Leyendo la información de estado... Hecho

module-assistant prepare

o

apt-get install linux-headers-3.8-2-amd64
»

# m-a -t a-i virtualbox
Updating info data files of the packages 1
Getting the sources of the kernel version: 3.8-2-amd64
apt-get install linux-headers-3.8-2-amd64
Reading package list... Done
Creating dependencies tree
Reading state informaataion... Done
Linux-headers-3.8-2-amd64 is in its most recent version
0 updated, 0 package to be installed, 0 to delete and 323 not updated(...)

Done!

Bad luck, the kernel headers for the target kernel version could not be
found
and you did not specify other valid kernel headers to use.

However, you can install the header files for your kernel which are
provided by
the linux-headers-3.8-2-amd64 package. For most modules packages,
these
files are perfectly sufficient without having the original kernel source.

To install the package, run:

module-assistant prepare

or

apt-get install linux-headers-3.8-2-amd64
---

The headers are properly installed

Bug#711687: mysql-workbench: Fails to find /usr/lib/mysql-workbench/mysqlcppconn.so at connecting to a database

2013-06-08 Thread Josue Ortega
Package: mysql-workbench
Version: 5.2.47+dfsg-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrade to the current mysql-workbench version in sid I try to connect to
to a database and I've got a window with the message: Failed to open library
'/usr/lib/mysql-workbench/mysqlcppconn.so'

I checked if the library exists and I found that mysql-workbench/mysqlcppconn.co
was a symlink to /usr/lib/libmysqlcppconn.so.6. I noticed that the version 6
libmysqlcppconn is not in the system anymore. I changed the symlink to the
version 7 of libymysqlcppconn and mysql-workbench worked it out.

Hope this bug report will be useful to check the install scripts

Bug#743499: ITP: oct2py -- GNU Octave to Python bridge

2014-06-28 Thread Josue Ortega
Hi, I've been working on this package. The sad part
is that there is an issue with the latest Oct2py version and the
latest GNU Octave Version on Sid

The problem is that the latest version of GNU Octave on Debian Sid has a known
issue, some unit tests fail with this version. It seems that upstream will be
fixing it soon. [0] .

The package is almost totally debianized I’m just waiting for the previous
issue
to be resolved

You can check it on the Debian Python Modules Team VCS [1]

Hi Eriberto

 Hi Josue,

Initially, a curiosity: if the maintainer is set as 'Debian Python
Modules Team', why you don't asked a sponsor to the group?

My initial approach was to maintain this package with DPMT, I asked
for sponsoring at the Debian Python mailing list but the response I've got
was a question asking why we need another python wrapper in the archive[0]

 Please:

 1. d/control: remove the double space in 'Maintainer' field. In long
description, in last paragraph, I think that can be many features
that work with and change user background. Please, remove
'Pre-Depends' fields. Dpkg is set as 'Essential' in Debian. ($
 apt-cache show dpkg)

 2. The HISTORY.rst is the changelog. You can use
 'dh_installchangelogs' to install it.

 Thanks for your work!

 Regards,

 Eriberto

Thanks for reviewing the package! I will make the changes.

If you are interested in sponsoring python-twython, I can maintain the
package by myself and move the package to collab-maint. Or if there is no
problem with you to make the upload I would co-maintain the package with
the DPMT.

Let me know what do you think about it

Cheers

Bug#761686: cowbuilder: Unable to unmount dev/pts filesystem

2014-09-15 Thread Josue Ortega
Package: cowbuilder
Version: 0.73
Severity: grave

Dear Maintainer,

Cowbuilder fails at the moment when it tries to unmount the
filesystem from dev/pts
here is the output:

dpkg-buildpackage: full upload (original source is included)
I: Copying back the cached apt archive contents
I: unmounting dev/pts filesystem
W: Could not unmount dev/pts: umount:
/var/cache/pbuilder/build/cow.6709/dev/pts: device is busy.
(In some cases useful info about processes that use
the device is found by lsof(8) or fuser(1))
W: Retrying to unmount dev/pts in 5s

After waiting for several retries I decided to kill the process.
Also I've found that the result directory does not contain the resulting files
from the build

Hope this information is useful.

Cheers

Without a concrete example, I can only guess that you did something like
 this:

 Files: debian/*
 Copyright: 2015 Random Developer rando...@debian.org
 License: FooPL

 Files: *
 Copyright: 2015 Random Hacker hac...@example.net
 License: BarPL

Here the following rule matters: The last paragraph that matches a
particular file applies to it. And since the last paragraph matches
everything, the first one is unused.

The solution is to reorder the paragraphs: More general paragraphs should
therefore be given first, followed by more specific overrides.

Jakub,

Thanks for your response,

Sorry for not give you a concret example, but yes, that's the case.
And that is the way I resolved it.

Is this a new behaviour? since it's the first time I see it with this copyright
file and I hadn't it changed it for a while.
IMHO the order should not matter.

Thanks agagin.

Cheers.

As I know there's no lagging behind upstream, it's the latest v2
release[1]. Please tell me if you know otherwise.
Yes, it's needed as amavisd-new depends on libzeromq-perl which in
 turns depends on libzmq1 .

Also I've found the watch file has the version 2 hardcoded. I am attaching a

It hardcodes 2 as it's the v2 release. Your patch just create confusion.

 Regards,
 Laszlo/GCS
 [1] https://github.com/zeromq/zeromq2-x/releases

Hi Laszlo,

Based on the zeromq download page[1] the actual stable release is 4.0.5, that's
the reason I've made the watch patch.

Reviewing the github link you brought and comparing it with the [2] NEWS file
seems to me that it's the newer version of the same library.

Is the v4 different of v2? if this is true, I am willing to help to package
the v4. But to me it seems it's just a newer version of the current lib
that is in the archive.

Let me know if I am missing something between the two versions.

IMO If v2 and v4 are different and have different purposes it would be great
specify the version in the package description because right now is confusing.

Cheers

My intention was to get ready the Python 3 version to uploaded, but it
was not ready.

I have pushed the new upstream release (Python 2 version only) that fixes this
bug to the DPMT git repo[1], I have now DM upload permissions for this package,
Can you upload this package for me?

Bug#836695: python-axolotl: debian package doesn't work with gajim-omemo, but pip package works

Is this the only warning/error you get? I could not reproduce it
The module legacymessageexception after the debian package installation should
be under "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/axolotl"

Did you check your Python path?

> Then I installed the python-axolotl package from pip, and that works as
> expected. What are the differences between the package from pip and the one
> from debian?

Right now the only differences between the debian package and the pip one are:

 - This patch which is required to build python-axolotl with the latest version
   of Protobuf:

https://sources.debian.net/src/python-axolotl/0.1.35-1/debian/patches/000-rename-protobuf-genetared-files.patch/

 - The path where the module is installed e.g:
Debian installs their python modules under
"/usr/lib/pythonX.Y/dist/packages/ " and pip installs the
modules
   under: "/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages"

Both of above do not affect the access to legacymessageexception module, maybe
this is an issue with gajim-omemo itself using some weird path?

Bug#835271: python-protobuf returns " TypeError: Descriptors should not be created directly, but only retrieved from their parent" message

2016-08-23 Thread Josue Ortega
Package: python-protobuf
Version: 3.0.0-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

Currently I am getting the following error trying to use Python protobuf
generated code:

 File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/google/protobuf/descriptor.py", line
501, in __new__
_message.Message._CheckCalledFromGeneratedFile()
TypeError: Descriptors should not be created directly, but only retrieved from
their parent.

At the beginning I thought it was a problem of the piece of the software that is
using the generated python protobuf code, after regenerating the protobuf code
the same error is returned even if I use proto2 or proto3 syntax.

Then I removed python-protobuf package and installed the PyPi version[1] and the
software worked like a charm.

If you want to reproduce this, you can checkout the following repository:
 https://github.com/tgalal/python-axolotl.git
and run:
 python2.7 -m unittest discover -v

Cheers

Bug#844380: konsole segmentation fault after close splitted view

2016-11-14 Thread Josue Ortega
Package: konsole
Version: 4:16.08.2-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

After close splitted view all konsole instances running terminate
unexpectedly with segmentation fault.
I can reproduce this behavior splitting and closing tabs multiple times
in a row ("ctrl + )" and "(ctrl + Shift + O)"), I know doing this in a
row is not a common use but it happens even if closing the splitted view
after a while.

Currently I can reproduce this in two different installations.

I found it more intuitive for users were using pavucontrol already,
the interface is user friendlier and customizable[1][2] than pulsemixer.
By the other hand it lacks of the command processing interface that pulsemixer
has.
Is this any better than pulsemixer? IMO this is better for some users they only
want to manage easily pulseaudio from the terminal and they want to customize
its keybindings (like me)

Hi Petter,

Unfortunately the current version in Stable does not work with the offline mode
since only the minified version javascript was provided by upstream which does
not comply with de DFSG §2.
I have uploaded a version (2.1.0+dfsg-1~bpo9+1) with the unminified javascript
to
Stretch Backports repository[1], This version works with offline mode

is to provide a simple, easy to read and understand practical reference for
Noise enthusiasts,
implementers and users. Therefore this project attempts to stick to the
following guidelines:
Syntax that resembles as closely as possible definitions and pseudo code
mentioned in Noise Specs.
As minimal python "magic" as possible (explicit is better than implicit).
Code that is simple, easy to read, follow and understand.
Flexibility to easily adopt future changes to Noise specifications.
Deviations from Noise Specs (additions, opinionated specs and API
changes..etc)
are isolated from original implementation/APIand are optional to
use.
Deviations from Noise Specs do not influence adjustments to original
implementation/API that conflict with Noise Specs.

Hi,

I'd like to update rpcbind in Buster to fix the response to broadcast requests.
Currently the broadcast requests are broken in Buster causing problems to users
using NIS services. See #939877 and #935492 for more information.

This is fixed by enabling the --enable-rmtcalls build flag.
I've updated the maintainer information since the previous maintainer is MIA and
I am maitaining this package now.

Changes:
 rpcbind (1.2.5-0.3+deb10u1) buster; urgency=medium
 .
   * Enable remote calls using '--enable-rmtcalls' configuration flag.
 Closes: #939877
   * debian/control: Update maintainer information

The debdiff is attached

Enabling this flag lets rpcbind to open random listening ports.
This would make firewalling very hard.
(Default behavior prior version 1.2.5)

Upstream set it off by default since they claimed about customers complaining
about this behavior and supposedly it's not widely used.
Check [1] for more details.

Debian users running NIS services in Buster have reported breakage in their
system
due the lack of the remote call functionality.
