No. The build-depends on java-gcj-compat-dev was removed in this release
intentionally because java-gcj-compat-dev depends on gjdoc an all archs
and gjdoc is not yet available on all of them. So I tried to break
this bootstrap circle with depending on java-gcj-compat and the indirect
depending on gcj-4.0 but this somehow dont worked. I need to check this
later on my powerpc which failed on the autobuilder too. i386 somehow works
fine.

Bug#328180: flac: FTBFS on m68k

Hi,

On mar, sep 13, 2005, Nathanael Nerode wrote:

 building with gcc 3.4.

Just a note to add that I don't think building with gcc 3.4 is an
option since the library has been C++ transitionned explicitely to
permit linking with other apps built with gcc 4 and the new C++ ABI.

If -O3 is used, it really should be removed as this is said to not only
ICE on m68k but also cause silent breakage in i386.

This could be either a missing build dependency on
libgfortran0-dev, or some other package
(octave2.1-headers?) having a missing depends on it.

Please reassign this bug if you believe that it's in an
other package.

Both of them are in libtool.m4, so you need to add a build

DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_LIBTOOL line too.

Also, you're using this in your rules file:
DEB_AUTO_UPDATE_DEBIAN_CONTROL = true

Which is not allow by the release policy.

I'm afraid this points to a corruption problem with your status file, not a
problem with the package.

You can try restoring from /var/lib/dpkg/status-old; otherwise, you will
probably have to edit the file by hand to correct the error.

Package: tellico
Version: 0.13.3-1
Severity: grave
Tags: sid

Hello,

This is a grave bug filed against your package because it depends on
libqt3c102-mt, which no longer exists, thus rendering yor package
uninstallable in unstable. As part of the C++ ABI transition, this
library has moved to the libqt3-mt package.

Simply recompiling and uploading your package should be enough to fix
this; as per this mail [1], you need not bump your Qt, kdelibs or aRts
build-dependencies. Beware, though, that that may not be the case for
all the involved librares. Also, make sure that you build the package
in an up to date and clean sid environment, so that final dependencies
are correct. Please do this as soon as possible in order to accelerate
  the Qt/KDE transition to testing.

[1] http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2005/09/msg0.html

Perhaps you find that your package fails to compile with gcc4. If
that's the case, there's probably a bug about it in the BTS, and it
may include a patch. If not (or if you have doubts about the
correctness of the patch), you may be able to find a fix in upstream's
CVS, or in the Ubuntu distribution. If your package fails only in arm,
m68k, and hppa, see instructions in the above mail.

Finally, if there's a strong reason for which your package should not
be NMUed, please note so in this bug report. Prospective NMUers will
read your reasoning, and will decide if it's strong enough to delay
  their upload.

Thanks for your cooperation, and happy hacking!

P.S.: There may be an already reported bug against this package for
this very same reason. I've checked for that, and will be merging the
bugs soon. The reason for still filing this bug was to have the
opportunity of including the small bits of information above. I
  apologize for the inconvenience.

This could be either a missing build dependency on
libgfortran0-dev, or some other package
(octave2.1-headers?) having a missing depends on it.

Please reassign this bug if you believe that it's in an
other package.

Bug#323956: doesn't reproduce on my debian box

2005-09-18 Thread Florian Weimer
* Michelle Konzack:

 I tried both examples on
  debian sid x86_64, mutt 1.5.10-1
  debian sarge x86, mutt 1.5.9-2
All four combinations (two mailboxes, two debian systems)
ran normally, no crashes or any other unusual behavior.
So this might not apply to debian at all.

 I can confirm this too
It does not affect Debian, but Mandrake and Redhat... :-)

How have you determined this?

Can you rule out that it's not reproducible with some other charset?

Bug#328971: FTBFS in unstable pbuilder (and on buildds)

2005-09-18 Thread Mark Hymers
Package: vtk
Version: 4.4.2-7
Severity: serious
Justification: FTBFS
Tags: patch

vtk-4.4.2-7 fails to build from source in an unstable pbuilder instance
and on most buildds (http://buildd.debian.org/build.php?pkg=vtk) due to
a bad Build-Dep. The attached patch fixes this and a bug with the
maintainer i386 binary upload of libvtk4-dev which depends of
libgl1-mesa-dev | libgl-dev instead of xlibmesa-gl-dev | libgl-dev. The
two things are basically the same problem.

Cheers,

Mark

Bug#328975: libcrypto++: FTBFS on arm, m68k, hppa; use g++-3.4 there

2005-09-18 Thread Adeodato Simó
Package: libcrypto++
Version: 5.2.1c2-5
Severity: serious
Tags: patch

Hello,

libcrypto++ FTBFS on arm, m68k and hppa due to GCC 4 giving an
Internal Compiler Error there. Using -O1 or -O0 does not help, so the
workaround is to compile with g++-3.4 on those architectures (this is
possible because the C++ ABIs of 3.4 and 4.0 are compatible).

A patch is attached (build tested on paer). If needed, I can upload
  myself.

  Cheers,

Bug#328981: udev: dependencie loop when upgrading kernel 2.6.11 to 2.6.12

2005-09-18 Thread Ashar Voultoiz
Package: udev
Version: 0.056-3
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I am trying to upgrade my kernel from 2.6.11 to 2.6.12 when doing so it reports
an error about hal in need of udev = 0.063 . So I try to upgrade udev which
in turn need a kernel = 2.6.12 .

Here are the commands:

# apt-get upgrade linux-image-2.6-k7
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
hal: Depends: udev (= 0.063) but 0.056-3 is installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.
#

# apt-get upgrade udev
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
hal: Depends: udev (= 0.063) but 0.056-3 is installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.
#

Trying to use force the install is not helpfull :-/

Would it be possible to make the udev package aware that a kernel 2.6.12
is being installed ? Then one can use:

# apt-get upgrade linux-image-2.6-k7 udev

 Hi,

long time could cover up some QA problems.

I've done this now and your package showed up on the list. I propose
 to remove it.
The package has almost no users, is quite out of date wrt Debian's
policies and there are some alternatives available.

I disagree. I use it!

There will be an upload at some point, some I have figured out a defconf
script bug. The powerstatd-crypt package will disappear but the regular
powerstatd package will function with encryption (i.e. will have the
functionality of powerstatd-crypt).

The alternative (simpler for upgrades) would be to remove `powerstatd'
and keep `powerstatd-crypt', but since the upstream package is named
`powerstatd' it is better in the long-run to keep that name.

 What has happened to that?

Good question... Basically XNap development came to a complete halt and this
led (among other things) to the shameful neglection of the Debian package as
well... The immediate reason for the non-happening of the upload including
the proposed patch, was still another one though, namely that shortly before
I wanted to actually upload the package, I realized that the last comment to
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=302554 is of course right,
which means that building xnap as a contrib package, seems not easily
possible. Do you have any ideas about that? Or do you know how this is
handled in general for packages in contrib?

Cheers,

Hello,

wxwindows2.4 FTBFS on m68k, presumably due to the use of -O3 to

  This will probably bite wxwidgets2.6.

I had held off until the sarge release to do anything about replacing

which hangs the install, and I haven't yet figured it out. But the plan
is to remove powstatd-crypt and have it replaced by powstatd.

vtk-4.4.2-7 fails to build from source in an unstable pbuilder instance

Bug#328992: dasd support has been dropped from parted until someone cares enough to fix the patch.

2005-09-18 Thread Sven Luther
Hello, This is due to :

* Removed the s390 patch, which needs a full review with regard to the
PedUnit stuff i believe. In particular with regard to the sector size
support. Please try to get this one integrated upstream, as it is the last
  problematic big debian-specific patch remaining.

  -- Sven Luther [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon, 11 Jul 2005 12:41:06 +0200

Bastian Blank was looking at the patch, but i am not sure what is happening in
this regard, he has SVN access for the repo.

Friendly,

Sven Luther

feel free, as long as you dont break it. I prepare a new maintainer version,
since it is a nmu anyway, but this might take two weeks.

This bug was already fixed in the last NMU - I've merged the reports and
marked this one fixed as well. Thanks!

2005-09-18 Thread Jon Westgate
Package: xine-ui
Version: 0.99.3-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

After upgrading glibc (libc6) xine loads, but dies as soon as you try to
do anything with it like right clicking on the video window.
I fixed that by just rebuilding xine-ui from source (apt-get source
xine-ui -b) and installing the newly built deb.

I have since built a deb using the source code from xinehq.de
0.99.4

I would just release this new version as the one in unstable (sid) is
nearly 7 months old, has an xmas splash screen and is a bit stale.

Bug#328837: very old package, should this be removed?

2005-09-18 Thread Jason Thomas
I no longer use the software either and it is no longer maintained
upstream.

I agree with removal of the package, What should happen now?

 Hi,

During the Debian QA meeting hold during Sept. 09th till 11th, we
decided that looking at packages that haven't been uploaded for a very
long time could cover up some QA problems.

I've done this now and your package showed up on the list. I propose
 to remove it.
The package has not many users and there are some alternatives (worklog,
 wmwork) available.

This usually means that your package matched some of the following
 criteria:

[1] Your packages has not had a maintainer upload for more than
  three years.

[2] has one or more RC bugs with no answer from the maintainer (**)

[3] the state of your packages in general seems to indicate that you
  might be MIA

[4] (if we propose a removal) it shows in popcon as having less than
100 users with the package installed.

[5] the package was not released with sarge

 and at least ([1] and ( [2] or [3] or [4] or [5] )) was true.

(**) The maintainer not answering to RC bugs refers to bugs filed
more than one month before the time the check was performed.

After 7 days without answer from you (the maintainer) we will reassign
this bug to either WNPP (in case we propose to orphan it) or
ftp.debian.org (in case we propose to remove it).

The package will need an upload or an explanation for this action not to
 proceed.

Please do *not* upload a package just to get off this list - it won't
help the package at all. Maintainers should be responsive and feel
responsible for their packages without needing other people to force
them to do work. Sometimes, finding a new maintainer or even removing
the package completly from the archive is better for Debian's users.

 Thanks!

 Marc

Bug#308052: Fixed upstream in 0.9.14

2005-09-18 Thread Ken Bloom
This is fixed in 0.9.14 upstream, by renaming bsetroot to fbsetroot.
From the changelog:

*05/07/12:
Renaming of 'bsetroot' to 'fbsetroot' (Mathias)
blackbox's 'bsetroot' and fluxbox's 'bsetroot' have different syntax
nowadays and collide when you install fluxbox and blackbox. hence
the renaming
updated manpage, helper utils (fbgm, startfluxbox, fbsetbg), nls etc

Bug#329041: valgrind: Valgrind is being compiled with SSE instruction set

2005-09-18 Thread Nach M. S.
Package: valgrind
Version: 1:3.0.1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Whoever is compiling Valgrind for i386 is compiling it with -msse making
it incompatible on every machine without SSE support, basically anything
before the P3/AXP.

I originally reported this bug direct to valgrind team since it affected
source package of 3.0.0 from their site too.
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=110813

They fixed configure putting -msse in the makefile for 3.0.1, I can
confirm that using their 3.0.1 source I no longer have issues running
it.

However, whoever compiled 3.0.1 package for Debian must have used a
machine which supports SSE because I'm getting illegal instructions
with Debian's version.

Bug#329043: /usr/include/bits/syscall.h incomplete

2005-09-18 Thread Ryan Murray
Package: libc6-dev
Version: 2.3.5-6
Severity: serious

/usr/include/bits/syscall.h on mips and mipsel only contains definitions for
the ABI-specific syscalls. The rest of the syscalls (suchs as SYS_pivot_root)
are missing, which is causing other packages to build without support for
the syscall, and in some cases, causing them to FTBFS (util-linux)

Package: noteedit
Version: 2.7.1-2

Hello,

If you're receiving this message, you have a package that depends on one
of the FLAC libraries (libFLAC, libFLAC++, libOggFLAC, libOggFLAC++.)
Once again, the SONAME of the libraries has increased due to an API
transition and you must rebuild your packages.

Please briefly review the upstream API changelog at:

http://flac.sourceforge.net/changelog.html

to check if any of the API changes affect your FLAC-depending package.
In most cases, a simple rebuild will be sufficient to transition. If you
like, you can version the libflac-dev, libflac++-dev, liboggflac-dev,
or liboggflac++-dev build-dependency to (= 1.1.2-1) to ensure that your
package is autobuilt against the new versions of the libraries.

Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the transition.
Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you.

The package doesn't have many users, is upstream dead as far as I can
see (though there is a newer upstream version available, but it's from

 in the last months.

I think the situation is very similar to freecdb, and both should be
removed.
