Is this building against etch or against sid? They have different versions

sid.

I haven't tried but given upstream's comment I guess it the version in
etch should be okay.

Bug#408256: i386 binNMU for asterisk-chan-capi please

I have reasons to believe that the i386 build of asterisk-chan-capi
was hosed in some way, because several people report that the package
in the archive makes a segfault for them, but that the exact same
package compiled from Debian sources on their machine or on the
 pkg-voip private autobuilders works fine.

Please schedule an i386 binNMU for asterisk-chan-capi through
 wanna-build. Thanks.

But the source of the hosing hasn't been identified? Which means there's no
guarantee that this problem won't resurface later, even in an autobuilder
environment.

I've scheduled the binNMU so that we can fix the practical problem for users
of the package, but I don't think this bug should be considered to be fixed
at this point.

Unless I misunderstood the man page, dh_usrlocal is meant for software
that builds into /usr/local, which we don't. We're only adding a local
directory in case others need it to install their own PPD.

We probably should not ship any directory in /usr/local or /opt
anyhow. It should be up to the third-party or local applications that
actually supply the PPD to create them.

Even worse, those PPD directories are not only used by CUPS; other
PostScript applications and printer daemons use them too. The proper
solution would be to add those directories to the filesystem skeleton
used by debian-installer and to the FHS specs.

Bug#409349: apcupsd: Generates lots of kernel hid-core error messages

After the system has been running for a few hours, I get a lot of kernel
hid-core.c error messages in

This has been seen before:

http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2006-January/059093.html
http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2006-10/msg00598.html

but no solution was found.

I have an Athlon MP dual-CPU box, with an A7M-266D motherboard, if that's any
help. The UPS is a
CS-650 model.

When these messages start appearing, it breaks all other USB devices on the
system, and will
occasionally prevent the system from shutting down properly (so a remote reboot
is not possible and I
have to get someone to hit the power switch - I don't have physical access to
the machine very often).

Unless I misunderstood the man page, dh_usrlocal is meant for software

I think so too.

Even so, we have to locate symlink on /usr/share/ppd for
third parties (by postinst?).
I checked source code and thought it was bit terrible to
add tweak code to support additional directory.

I'm considering whether it is ok or not from policy view to
provide symlink against /usr/local/share/ppd and /opt/ppd.
It will become a missing link if user hasn't these two directories.

Thanks,

Try to get latest 2.6 (you are using 2.6.17 right?) and see if the

Bug#406064: i386 binNMU for asterisk-chan-capi please

I have reasons to believe that the i386 build of asterisk-chan-capi
was hosed in some way, because several people report that the
package in the archive makes a segfault for them, but that the
exact same package compiled from Debian sources on their machine or
on the pkg-voip private autobuilders works fine.

Please schedule an i386 binNMU for asterisk-chan-capi through
 wanna-build. Thanks.

But the source of the hosing hasn't been identified?

The package is team-maintained. i386 is the architecture that was
uploaded with the sources. At this point, I hope that something was
hosed on the builder/uploader's personal machine, but we haven't heard
back from him yet.

Additionally, the packages in the archive works for me (in
production); I think I'm about the only team member that has hardware
on which the package works, but different hardware than what the bug
reporters have. So chasing down the problem is quite difficult.

Which means there's no guarantee that this problem won't resurface
later, even in an autobuilder environment.

I've scheduled the binNMU so that we can fix the practical problem
 for users of the package,

Thanks.

but I don't think this bug should be considered to be fixed at this
 point.

Theoretically you are right, but practically, I doubt it will achieve
anything. Remember that we cannot get a meaningful core file / stack
trace because rebuilding the package (be it with or without debugging
symbols) produces a package that works.

All I can imagine doing is rebuilding the package on the same machine
it was built on (Mark? You up to that? Maybe a normal build and a
debug, nostrip build?), have the bug reporters (who at this point do
not suffer from the bug anymore, because - hopefully - the binNMU will
fix it for them) try that package again.

Two possibilities:

 - It works. We can't even reproduce the bug, except with a specific
binary that we cannot recreate from sources. Frankly, I'm clueless
   what to do next then.

 - It doesn't work. What do we do? Have Mark upgrade random packages
(gcc, libfoo-dev, ...) and the bugreporters try again, and loop
   that procedure ad nauseam?

A lot of shots in the dark for no gain.

So we can tag it as moreinfo, severity important (because, without
the severity inflation on my side to force this to be handled for
etch, that bug is important at most because architecture-specific) and
let it rot for a few years until it is irrelevant, fine. I fail to see
how this is an improvement over closing the bug under the
justification Heisenbug, unreproducible, cannot be explained nor
investigated, reopen if you ever hit it again and we thus get a bit of
reproducibility.

Bug#409356: cups-pdf: allows unprivileged user to read parts of any file

2007-02-02 Thread Volker Christian Behr
I am the CUPS-PDF developer. Though I am not using Debian I am quite
confused by this behaviour: CUPS-PDF is supposed to be mode 700 on CUPS
v1.2.x environments (so unprivileged users should not even be able to
execute it). Furthermore CUPS-PDF is explicitely not meant to be
installed SUID 'root' (neither is ghostscript) - so how can those two
programs access /etc/shadow at all?
Please check the permissions of the CUPS-PDF backend and GS - neither
should be SUID 'root' under any circumstances. CUPS-PDF should even more
be mode 700 executable by 'root' only. If this is not the case in the
default installation it has to be fixed in the Debian package.

 Hm, I understand the situation.

Instead of just reverting, you could also apply this simple patch:

+ * Use dh_usrlocal to install files in /usr/local in the maintainer
+scripts, instead of shipping them in the deb

Unless I misunderstood the man page, dh_usrlocal is meant for software
that builds into /usr/local, which we don't. We're only adding a local
directory in case others need it to install their own PPD.

 I think so too.

No, you both are wrong. No Debian package is allowed to build into
/usr/local. However, they may *provide* empty directories below
/usr/local, see the Debian Policy 9.1.2 Site-specific programs. Here,
provide means to create/remove them in maintainer scripts, exiting
gracefully if /usr/local is mounted read-only. dh_usrlocal is exactly
for this, as you can see from the manpage:

***
dh_usrlocal is a debhelper program that can be used for
building packages that will provide a subdirectory in /usr/local when
installed
***

or by just trying the patch...

We probably should not ship any directory in /usr/local or /opt
 anyhow.

You should, as correctly requested in #408154, and (at least for
/usr/local) suggested in the Debian policy

Even worse, those PPD directories are not only used by CUPS; other
PostScript applications and printer daemons use them too. The proper
solution would be to add those directories to the filesystem skeleton
used by debian-installer and to the FHS specs.

No, before this can be done you'd have to change Debian Policy, who
currently leaves this to individual packages.

Bug#408407: Problem solved but Ekiga on Debian AMD64 still needs a fix

2007-02-02 Thread Ton van Oostveen
Like Sven said strace did solve my problem.
This strace line explains it all (strace /usr/bin/ekiga):

open(/usr/lib64/pwlib/, O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_DIRECTORY) = -1 ENOENT
(No such file or directory)

The Debian 'libpt-plugins-alsa' package installs the pwlib to..

/usr/lib/pwlib

I fixed this by making a link to this (as root):

cd /usr/lib64/
ln -s /usr/lib/pwlib .

Now Ekiga runs fine on my Debian AMD64 machine.

This is great.. but (I think) the problem still is Ekiga does not run
out of the Box on Debian AMD64 unstable.
Although I am an experienced technical user this problem did took me
quite some time to find out.

This is wat I would like to ask the Debian maintainers and Ekiga
developers (to who I have great respect), please:

1) @Debian: Can the Ekiga or (libpt-plugins-alsa) package for AMD64
users be fixed, for example to configure this link ?
2) @Ekiga: Can this Ekiga error message be made more informative on
those important things (like including the plugin directory where it
searches).

Regards,

Ton van Oostveen

Starting with version 1.2.0 CUPS will call any backend that is owned by
'root' and set to mode 0700 with full root privileges which should
enable CUPS-PDF to print to any destination.
I know Ubuntu to have modified CUPS (e.g. the web-admin interface is
disabled) but I cannot tell what other changes they did.
I strongly reccommend making CUPS-PDF mode 0700 again since this is
to-the-letter within the specifications of CUPS.

Ubuntu doesn't run CUPS as root, which is what prevents us from
outputting files to user directories with the backend as root:root
0700.

Ben,

I am setting the severity of this bug to important, as it does not

KDevelop 3.4.0 without encountering the bug you describe). You can
find more information on bug severities here:

Could you possibly try creating a new user and running KDevelop as
that user, to see if the bug is related to your settings? Also, I will
prepare a debug version of kdevelop so that we get a more explicit

I can't reproduce this bug with either the sid or etch versions on i386 in a
clean chroot. What arch/dist were you doing this on? Were all of the
dependencies up-to-date? Can you provide a gdb backtrace and/or a strace
 -efile of the segfaulting case?

Works with the above version on etch/i386.

Bug#404235: (no subject)

2007-02-02 Thread Nico Golde
Hi,
Your patch is wrong because you are using `char
 *textfile` in the first
 snprintf without initializing it.

I didnt check what you said when I replied last time.
However what you say is wrong since there is no char pointer
textfile in my patch, its an array which is initialized when
snprintf is called.

On those architectures that don't have a native OCaml compiler, the
felix package is missing a dependency on an ocaml runtime environment.

This is because there's a typo in debian/control: it's referencing
${F:OCAMLRUN} instead of ${F:OCamlRun}. From the hppa build log:

 dh_gencontrol -- -VF:OCamlRun=ocaml-base-nox-3.09.2
 dpkg-gencontrol: warning: unknown substitution variable ${F:OCAMLRUN}

Bug#398421: argh

2007-02-02 Thread Robert Millan

It seems we've got a genuine heisenbug-class problem here. This is what I
tried now:

  - When compiled without DEBUG=1, it doesn't segfault (at least, not when I
tried!!)

  - Back to the DEBUG=1 build, I tried stracing it, and found the initial error
about mmapping a -1 fd. Then I grepped for failed open() invocations, and
found an ENOENT one with ~/.nsisconf.nsh.

  - I touched ~/.nsisconf.nsh, and *magic*, now it segfaults *only* when strace
is not being used. When strace is in use, it exits normaly, although it's
still trying to run mmap with -1 as fd.

  - I remove ~/.nsisconf.nsh back again, with no effect (still segfaults only
on strace-less invocations). Even if it doesn't segfult, the screwed mmaps
are still there, so I searched for open() failures. The following were
found:

open(/home/rmh/.nsisconf.nsh, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open(/usr/lib/locale/CP0/LC_CTYPE, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open(/usr/lib/gconv/tls/x86_64/libKSC.so, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file
or directory)
open(/usr/lib/gconv/tls/libKSC.so, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open(/usr/lib/gconv/x86_64/libKSC.so, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open(/usr/lib/locale/CP950/LC_CTYPE, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open(/usr/lib/locale/CP936/LC_CTYPE, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open(/usr/lib/locale/CP1251/LC_CTYPE, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open(/usr/lib/locale/CP1250/LC_CTYPE, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open(/usr/lib/locale/CP1252/LC_CTYPE, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open(/usr/lib/locale/CP949/LC_CTYPE, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open(/usr/lib/locale/CP932/LC_CTYPE, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)
open(/usr/lib/locale/CP1255/LC_CTYPE, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or
directory)

Steve, Paul: if you want to reproduce this, I suggest you look for mmap()
invocations using -1. They do appear and seem to be the root of the problem,
although they don't always generate segfault due to pseudo-random conditions.

If you ask me, I wouldn't feel safe shipping with this bug. -m32 is not such
a bad solution (compared to a binary that segfaults randomly).

Package: python-matplotlib

matplotlib in testing defaults to numpy. But it does not
work with the numpy in testing:

 import pylab
RuntimeError: module compiled against version 109 of C-API but this
version of numpy is 102

I have marked this bug as RC, because the package does not
work in its default installation, and fixing it isn't even
simple for the average user/admin. They have to find the
config and switch from numpy to numarray/numeric.

The solutions to this problem include:

- Unfreeze numpy
- Change the default, and document, that matplotlib and
  numpy-on-testing is b0rked.
- Rebuild on testing

Hi,

with the new numpy in testing now, this issue has been
resolved, at least, for me (the reporter).

Thanks go to Matthias Klose for getting numpy into testing:

This makes the python scientific library collection lots
better in testing!

Bug#409392: xen-utils-3.0-unstable-1: xenstored creates /dev/xen/evtchn with the wrong minor

2007-02-02 Thread Nate Carlson
Package: xen-utils-3.0-unstable-1

with the recent unstable kernel, the evtchn device should be created

Bug#407799: kdm theme override proposition

2007-02-02 Thread Loïc Minier
Hi,

On Fri, Feb 02, 2007, Fathi Boudra wrote:
patch proposal to properly close #407799 joined. Instead disable KDM theme
override by default, we add debconf support. It asks user if he wants to
enable kdm theme override and generate 10_desktop-base according to the
 answer.

I think adding debconf support is intrusive and doesn't address the
root problem: when the override is in place, people can't use the KDE
configuration system to set a different wallpaper.

 The old priorities were:
 (highest) 1) user selected theme
 (lowest) 2) default theme

 The current priorities are:
 (highest) 1) desktop-base imposed theme
   2) user selected theme
   3) default theme

 The priorities you propose are:
(highest) 1) debconf's selected desktop-base theme (when enabled)
   2) user selected theme
   3) default theme

 But IMO it should be:
 (highest) 1) user selected theme
   2) desktop-base default theme (when present)
   3) default theme

Interesting, this seems to be a consequence of this snippet of

I don't think this change comes from a Debian specific patch.

I agree we should use /usr/lib instead.

it compiles fine with latest CVS of openh323 and pwlib.

The libc should create a /usr/lib64 - /usr/lib symlink, so it
shouldn't have been a problem for you or anyone else. I don't know why
you miss the symlink, and the usage of /usr/lib64 should be changed,
 but the program remains usable.

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

feel free to reassign that bug to libopts25.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~ $ tcpreplay
tcpreplay: error while loading shared libraries: libopts.so.25: cannot open

The library provided by libopts25 is /usr/lib/libopts.so.24.3.5. Perhaps
just rebuilding the package solves the problem.

  Hilmar

Bug#376714: disappearing fonts in etch/sid (libcairo2 1.2.4-4)

2007-02-02 Thread Julien Pauthier

Hello,

I didn't dist-upgrade etch for 2 months, and right after my last upgrade
i'm having some problem getting fonts properly displayed (text keeps
disappearing, and i have to select it to be able to read anything)...
whatever i'm running GTK2 applications or KDE ones. Here's a screenshot:

http://img185.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bugfontdisappearingbo3.png

I've tried to dist-upgrade to sid, but i'm still experiencing the issue.

Since i don't have this problem on e17 or GTK1.2 applications, i presume
that it might related as well to libcairo2 1.2.4-4 (cf bugreport #378005
[1]). I couldn't manage to get a .deb of 1.2.0-4 to give it a try after
downgrade though...

Please let me know if i can provide any additional information!

Best regards,
Julien

This is a wrong fix. The bug is not in tcpreplay, it's in libopts25 for
breaking the library ABI without a proper package rename.

tcpreplay will just have to be rebuilt again once libopts is fixed.

Bug#409429: libcppopt0c2: empty package

Package: libcppopt0c2

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Hi,

the dh_movefiles call in debian/rules wasn't changed with the package
name in the C++ ABI transition in 0.0.2-3.1. The libraries are installed
into debian/libcppopt0 instead of debian/libcppopt0c2, resulting in an
empty package an all architectures.

Patch attached.

Cheers,

Debian bug tracking system administrator
(administrator, Debian Bugs database)

---BeginMessage---
Package: discover-data
Version: 2.2007.01.21
Severity: normal

Recently there was a change:

diff -r 2.2006.12.28/lib/discover/pci-busclass.xml
2.2007.01.21/lib/discover/pci-busclass.xml
19,20c19,20
   busclass id=0280 name=network/
   busclass id=0300 name=display/
---
   busclass id=0280 name=ethernet/
   busclass id=0300 name=video/
52a53
   busclass id=0805 name=miscellaneous/

I suspect this was the relevant change log comment:

  * Update the name of some busclasses in pci-busclass.xml to match
the pci.lst values.

Note that display has been renamed to video. This breaks this code for me:

  CMD=discover --type-summary display
  eval $CMD $VENDOR_MODEL_FILE || debug_report_status $CMD $?
  CMD=discover --data-path=xfree86/server/name \
--data-version=$UPSTREAM_VERSION display
  eval $CMD $SERVER_FILE || debug_report_status $CMD $?
  CMD=discover --data-path=xfree86/server/device/driver \
--data-version=$UPSTREAM_VERSION display
  eval $CMD $DRIVER_FILE || debug_report_status $CMD $?

  DISCOVERED_VIDEO=$(paste $VENDOR_MODEL_FILE $SERVER_FILE $DRIVER_FILE)

That code is from /var/lib/dpkg/info/xserver-xorg.postinst and controls which
X server I run (which has now defaulted to vesa when it should be i810).

According to the discover man page, this command:

$ discover --type-summary display
$

Should produce the result now produced only by this command:

$ discover --type-summary video
Intel Corporation 82865G Integrated Graphics Controller
$

If I regenerate pci-buslist.xml (and bear in mind I have no idea what I'm doing
here):

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp/badger$ /usr/share/tools/lst2xml /lib/discover/pci.lst
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp/badger$

Then I get a very different file to the one that was installed by discover-data:

Permissions were made 6755 to enable outputting documents to someone's

That's a piss-poor excuse for marking an unaudited binary as suid-root.

And this:

Permissions were made 6755 to enable outputting documents to someone's
home directory (or a subdirectory). Unless I'm mistaken, 0700 would
  not enable the same thing?

 0700.

Debian does run CUPS as root. What Ubuntu does is irrelevant.

Bug#409434: mediawiki1.7: Nuked my LocalSettings.php in /etc

2007-02-02 Thread Anthony DeRobertis
Package: mediawiki1.7
Version: 1.7.1-6
Severity: serious
Justifiaction: Policy 10.7.3

The latest MediaWiki 1.7 upgrade (from -4 to -6, I believe) decided to
nuke my LocalSettings.php file in /etc/mediawiki1.7 and replace it with
a symlink:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 39 2007-01-29 12:29 /etc/mediawiki1.7/LocalSettings.php

/var/lib/mediawiki1.7/LocalSettings.php - /etc/mediawiki1.7/LocalSettings.php

So, it deleted my config file (which was a plain file in
/etc/mediawiki1.7) and replaced it with a symlink loop. Thankfully, I
have backups!

It did the same thing with AdminSettings.php.

upgrade occured]

Bug#407799: kdm theme override proposition

I think adding debconf support is intrusive and doesn't address the
root problem: when the override is in place, people can't use the KDE
configuration system to set a different wallpaper.

  The old priorities were:
  (highest) 1) user selected theme
  (lowest) 2) default theme

  The current priorities are:
  (highest) 1) desktop-base imposed theme
2) user selected theme
3) default theme

  The priorities you propose are:
(highest) 1) debconf's selected desktop-base theme (when enabled)
2) user selected theme
3) default theme

  But IMO it should be:
  (highest) 1) user selected theme
2) desktop-base default theme (when present)
3) default theme

Bye,

I think that Loic has a very good point here. Local users should have
the highest priority so that you don't clobber their preference. The
desktop-base package needs the next highest priority so that it can
apply configuration elements as appropriate. The default for the desktop
environ should be lower priority so that it still works but doesn't
override the desktop-base or local user configurations.

Curious thoughts for lenny; what if desktop-base provided theming
infrastructure that worked for the target desktops? Additionally what if
this theme actually appeared as a selectable theme in each of the
respective desktops? Would this approach work for people or would it be
too cumbersome?

Thanks,

I think you (Romain Beauxis) have mis-read policy. Policy 10.7.2 says
that if it is too hard to make the package look directly in /etc for the
config file, put the config file in /etc anyway (put the files in
/etc) and then put a symlink to the config files (located in /etc)
wherever the package expects them (and create symbolic links to those
files from the location that the package requires).

Policy most definitely requires configuration files to be in /etc.

Bug#409435: linux-image-2.6.18-4-amd64: old version of libdevmapper1.02 installed == eat filesystem on pvmove

2007-02-02 Thread Marc Lehmann
Package: linux-image-2.6.18-4-amd64
Version: 2.6.18.dfsg.1-9
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss

I just upgraded to 2.6.18.4 and tried pvmove /dev/hdc1 /dev/sda1

Result (dmesg):

device-mapper: mirror log: unrecognised sync argument to mirror log: 2
device-mapper: table: 254:3: mirror: Error creating mirror dirty log
device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table

device-mapper: table: 254:3: mirror: Error creating mirror dirty log

device-mapper: table: device 254:3 too small for target
device-mapper: table: 254:1: linear: dm-linear: Device lookup failed
device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table

and the volume was inaccessible. after a pvmove --abort, the whole system
hang.

after reboot, the files and whole directories were missing, the filesystem
was corrupted.

After some digging around, this seems to have been reported
some time ago and seems to be caused by an old version of
libdevmapper1.02 (#383418). Unfortunately, the bug was closed.

indeed, upgrading it made pvmove seemingly work (neither upgrading dmsetup
nor lvm2 upgrades this library to the required version). I think I had
1.02.06-1 and upgraded to 1.02.12-1.

Please, I urge you, add an antidependency to the kernel against old and
incompatible versions of libdevmapper. This problem is *severe*, causes
serious data loss, is a known issue, and is so easily avoidable and so
hard to diagnose.

Thanks a lot!

Bug#408257: mock: missing depend on adduser

2007-02-02 Thread Steve Langasek
Hi Eric,

I'm reviewing mock 0.6.10-1 to see if letting it into testing is an
appropriate way to get this bug fixed for etch. Isn't the following change
in mock.py a regression?

+if not options.clean:
+config_opts['clean'] = options.clean

I.e., shouldn't that be 'if options.clean:' instead?

The diff otherwise looks suitable for letting into etch.

Thanks,

Does a

pkg-config --print-errors --variable handlersdir deskbar-applet

give you any output? I get:

$ pkg-config --print-errors --variable handlersdir deskbar-applet
Package pygtk-2.0 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `pygtk-2.0.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
Package 'pygtk-2.0', required by 'Deskbar Applet Handlers Location', not
found

and that's why there is no output. That's a bug in the deskbar-applet
package, that defines a dependency via pkg-config file, but not via
Debian package dependencies. This bug should be reassigned to
deskbar-applet.

You can workaround the issue temporarily by installing/defining a
dependency to python-gtk2-dev for the package you want to build.

Regards, Daniel

Note that I have never used myself libdbi, I could remove the dependency

 it's left behind.

Er, why is it a shame if it's left behind, if no one has reported a single
case of using this library in production? You admit to not using it either,
so do you even know if libapache-mod-log-sql-dbi works? According to
popcon, although there are some users that have libdbd drivers installed,
none of them report actively using them.

Bug#409438: libecasound2.2-dev: missing dependency on libasound2-dev

2007-02-02 Thread Steve Langasek
Package: libecasound2.2-dev
Version: 2.4.4-4
Severity: serious

Hi Junichi,

The ecasound2.2 package uses the following code in debian/rules to make
libecasound2.2-dev's dependency on libasound2-dev conditional on
architecture:

ifeq (linux,$(DEB_HOST_ARCH_OS))
   dh_gencontrol -a -- -Vlibasound2-dev=libasound2-dev
else
   dh_gencontrol -a
endif

This doesn't work, because nowhere in debian/rules have you called
dpkg-architecture to *define* $(DEB_HOST_ARCH_OS); so almost all
architectures are missing the dependency on libasound2-dev, which causes
other packages to fail to build.

A simpler solution is to replace ${libasound2-dev} in debian/control with
this:

 libasound2-dev [!kfreebsd-i386 !kfreebsd-amd64 !hurd-i386]

this syntax will be evaluated by dpkg at package build time, which works
fine for arch: any packages.

Thanks,
