Package: konqueror-nsplugins
Version: 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-6etch1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Nspluginviewer crashes immediately on AMD64
without displaying anything.

Version 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-6etch1 of konqueror-nsplugins
was apparently compiled using an ancient version
of the netscape sdk that declares uint32 as long
on all platforms except the alpha.
This is obviously wrong on amd64.

Related upstream bug:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150241

Fix:
Line 190 of npapi.h should be
  #if defined(__alpha) || defined(__x86_64__) || defined(__LP64__)
 instead of
  #if defined(__alpha)

That's all.

Package: gcj-4.2
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.2.1

The man pages gc-analyze-4.2.1, gcj-4.2.1, jcf-dump-4.2.1 and jv-convert-4.2.1
are all licensed under the GNU Fre Documentation License with front- and
back-cover texts. According to Debian vote 1 of 2006 this is a violation of the
DFSG modifiability requirements.

The man pages are fairly short (with the possible exception of gcj) which should
facilitate writing fresh ones complying with the DFSG. As I primarily use C++/C
I'm probably not the best person for the job. I would however be willing to have
a go at it, if so requested.

Other non-free man pages in packages related to the GNU Compiler Collection:
  * cpp-4.2 (bug #456262)
  * gcc-4.2 (bug #442445)
  * gcj (bug #456264)
  * gij-4.2 (bug report not yet submitted)

Note: In response to bug #442445 Matthias Klose said that the problem won't
be fixed (for gcc) until the 4.2.3 and 4.3.0 releases.

Package: gij-4.2
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 2.2.1

The man pages gcj-dbtool-4.2.1 and gij-4.2.1 are both licensed under the GNU Fre
Documentation License with front- and back-cover texts. According to Debian vote
1 of 2006 this is a violation of the DFSG modifiability requirements.

Both man pages are fairly short so it shouldn't be too much work writing fresh
ones to comply with the DFSG. As I primarily use C++/C I'm probably not the best
person for the job. I would however be willing to have a go at it, if so
requested.

Other non-free man pages in packages related to the GNU Compiler Collection:
  * cpp-4.2 (bug #456262)
  * gcc-4.2 (bug #442445)
  * gcj (bug #456264)
  * gij-4.2 (bug #456265)

Note: In response to bug #442445 Matthias Klose said that the problem won't
be fixed (for gcc) until the 4.2.3 and 4.3.0 releases.

Hi Sam!

Here is a gdb backtrace from cupsd that involves pam_thinkfinger:

FWIW I can easily reproduce the bug: attached a backtrace outside gdb,
i.e. the output of `cupsd -f`.

This is clearly an upstream bug: marked as it and forwarded upstream.

This may be caused by libusb functions not being properly protected
by mutexes, but I haven't dug very deeply.

Feel free to ask for more information. I will gladly test patches,
 too.

I'm quite out-of-time now, so I'll come back ASAP.

Hi,

While reviewing some packages, your package came up as a possible
candidate for removal from Debian, because:

 * The package depends on XMMS, which is slated to be removed.

If you think that it should be orphaned instead of being removed from
Debian, please reply to this bug and tell so.

One possible solution is that this package could be adapted to use an
XMMS alternative. If this is the case, please package the plugin for
the XMMS alternative, and do not depend on XMMS.

If you agree, sending the following commands to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
should do it (after replacing nn with this bug's number):
severity nn normal
reassign nn ftp.debian.org
retitle nn RM: packagename -- RoM; reasons
thanks

For more information, see
http://wiki.debian.org/ftpmaster_Removals

If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please
just close this bug, preferably in an upload also fixing the other
issues.

Thank you,

Bug#458615: Debian packages of haskell-hsql

You are listed as the maintainer of haskell-hsql on which one of my
packages has a build dependency. Right now your package FTBFS because of
a new version of haskell-devscripts and ghc6. Also there is a new
version of haskell-hsql, version 1.7, available on hackage.haskell.org
 for some time now.

As I have not seen much activity on the Debian packages of haskell-hsql
on your side I was wondering if I could take over maintenance of this
 package? (Or co-maintain it?)

Can you please upload the package?

Reommends would be more appropriate (particularly now that they are
installed by default), but if you'd rather have it in Depends, I won't

Yes, I agree, Recommends is probably the way to go for this.

Bug#463688: CVE-2007-4770/1: Vulnerabilities in libicu

2008-02-02 Thread Stefan Fritsch
Package: libicu38
Version: 3.6-2
Severity: grave
Tags: security

Two vulnerabilities have been found in libicu:

From CVE-2007-4770:

libicu in International Components for Unicode (ICU) 3.8.1 and earlier
attempts to process backreferences to the nonexistent capture group
zero (aka \0), which might allow context-dependent attackers to read
from, or write to, out-of-bounds memory locations, related to
corruption of REStackFrames.

From CVE-2007-4771:

Heap-based buffer overflow in the doInterval function in regexcmp.cpp
in libicu in International Components for Unicode (ICU) 3.8.1 and
earlier allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of
service (memory consumption) and possibly have unspecified other
impact via a regular expression that writes a large amount of data to
the backtracking stack. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from
third party information.

A link to a patch is at

[1]
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_name=d03a2ffb0801221538x68825e42xb4a4aaf0fcccecbd%40mail.gmail.com

This also affects libicu36 and probably libicu28.

Please mention the CVE ids in the changelog.

Bug#445764: libasis-dev: unmet dep libgnatvsn-dev (= 4.1)

2008-02-02 Thread Ludovic Brenta
Upon request from Matthias Klose, I changed the the gnat-4.1 and
gnat-4.2 source packages so they provide versioned packages
libgnatvsn4.1-dev, libgnatprj4.1-dev, libgnatvsn4.2-dev and
libgnatprj4.2-dev. The source packages were just accepted today in
the archive.

In the mean time, I also uploaded gnat-4.3, libgnatvsn4.3-dev and
libgnatprj4.3-dev. It is still in the NEW queue however.

My plan is to skip the transition to gnat-4.2 and go directly for 4.3.

The transition consists in waiting for gnat-4.3 to go through the NEW
queue and then upload gcc-defaults to provide dummy packages:
libgnatvsn-dev and libgnatprj-dev, depending on the 4.3 versions.

Then I'll start work on the latest version of asis (2007).

How did you create the xml file - with virsh, virt-manager, virtinstall,

Hi,

Lucas Nussbaum has rebuiltthe whole archive three times on i386 and the
content of your packages builded there differ. This means that the package
which was generated on the fist build contains or doesn't contains several
files
which are or aren't included in the package which build two or three times.

See the report and the url for details:

Files in first .changes but not in second
-
/usr/share/doc/libcmml1-dev/latex/Helvetica.ttf.gz

The full build-log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~lucas/logs/2007/doublebuild-09-05/failed-debdiff

About the archive rebuild: The rebuild was done on about 50 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot containing a sid i386
environment. Internet was not accessible from the build systems. All
packages have been rebuilt twice in a row, with unpack, build, clean,
build.

Please read the mail of Martin Zobel-Helas on debian-devel [0], for a
explanation
for this mass bug filling.

Greetings
Patrick Winnertz

uic is an alternative, which happens to point to /usr/bin/uic-qt3

The build should therefore use uic-qt4.

This should be fixed in experimental already.

Did you confirm if it is fixed in experimental yet?

Thanks, Kel.

How did you create the xml file - with virsh, virt-manager, virtinstall,
by hand? Libvirt segfaulting is indeed a bug but the xml file should be
 valid too.

I have created the VM with virt-manager.
I can open it in Iceweasel with no syntax errors.

while doing an archive wide package rebuild your package failed to build from

checking for ld used by g++... /usr/bin/ld

Bug#453148: Testing a change to rt2570

2008-02-02 Thread Ben Hutchings
I added a patch to rt2570 in version rt2570/1.1.0+cvs20070927-1 that
fixes some incorrect timing, but it may have introduced bugs. The
maintainers of the Ralink packages in Debian do not have any hardware
supported by rt2570, so we cannot test new packages ourselves. Please
could you test this new version of the package:

https://alioth.debian.org/frs/?group_id=31088release_id=1120

and report whether it fixes the bug you reported.

Ben.

Bug#462958: Size read failed

2008-02-02 Thread Jamie Thompson
I just upgraded everything on my Testing system. I have now lost access to my email system, and investigation gives me the same result as you have,
but there were no updates for SASL, the only thing relevant was pam_ldap, as I use PAM for saslauthd.

Suffice to say, it is quite broken, and testsaslauthd returns:
mrlinux2:/# testsaslauthd -u xxx -p yyy
size read failed
0: mrlinux2:/#

...which is probably why my cyrus-imapd is giving me ambiguous checkpass
failures and so on.

I got everything working for me again temporarily by telling saslauthd to use
ldap directly instead of via pam.

This works in testing, but something in either gcj or java-gcj-compat-dev in

reassign 462501 postgresql-pljava

bad call. postgresql-pljava has to cope with situations where gcc
version != gcj version. you already use I/usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj/include
so you should use -L/usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj/lib as well.

Bug#463739: vidir: fails if filesystem is full

2008-02-02 Thread Decklin Foster
Package: moreutils
Version: 0.26
Severity: grave
Tags: patch

If TMPDIR lives on a filesystem that is full, vidir will be able to open
a temp file, but not write to it. The user will then be presented with an
empty file, and if they leave their editor, vidir will act as if all
lines were deleted, and attempt to rm every file.

(I hesitate to use grave for one small program in a package with many
others, but this could cause some severe data loss. I was saved by the
fact that vidir does not attempt to recursively delete directories.)

I fixed this by checking the return value of close as well (see trivial
patch). You might want to change the first die to cannot create or
something like that to distinguish between the two different sorts of
errors that can happen.

---BeginMessage---
Package: xserver-xorg-input-evtouch
Version: 0.8.7-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

the driver's conversion_proc is not called in xorg-1.4
xf86PortMotionEvent making the driver fail to scale the input
coordinates to the screen size.
The net result is the pointer not responding correctly to taps.

I'm already working on a fix, but this is to avoid that the package
enters lenny if I fail to fix it in a timely fashion.
