Bug#456266: marked as done (gij-4.2: non-free man pages included)
Your message dated Sat, 02 Feb 2008 09:02:20 + with message-id [EMAIL PROTECTED] and subject line Bug#456262: fixed in gcc-4.2 4.2.3-1 has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what I am talking about this indicates a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) ---BeginMessage--- Package: gij-4.2 Severity: serious Justification: Policy 2.2.1 The man pages gcj-dbtool-4.2.1 and gij-4.2.1 are both licensed under the GNU Fre Documentation License with front- and back-cover texts. According to Debian vote 1 of 2006 this is a violation of the DFSG modifiability requirements. Both man pages are fairly short so it shouldn't be too much work writing fresh ones to comply with the DFSG. As I primarily use C++/C I'm probably not the best person for the job. Bug#458615: Debian packages of haskell-hsql
On Mon, Jan 21, 2008 at 01:20:18AM +0100, Arjan Oosting wrote: You are listed as the maintainer of haskell-hsql on which one of my packages has a build dependency. Right now your package FTBFS because of a new version of haskell-devscripts and ghc6. Also there is a new version of haskell-hsql, version 1.7, available on hackage.haskell.org for some time now. As I have not seen much activity on the Debian packages of haskell-hsql on your side I was wondering if I could take over maintenance of this package? (Or co-maintain it?) Bug#462845: dependency on python-apt should be at least Recommends

That we ship a couple modules that work just fine without it. I think Reommends would be more appropriate (particularly now that they are installed by default), but if you'd rather have it in Depends, I won't fight over it. :-) Yes, I agree, Recommends is probably the way to go for this. Bug#463688: CVE-2007-4770/1: Vulnerabilities in libicu
Package: libicu38 Version: 3.6-2 Severity: grave Tags: security Two vulnerabilities have been found in libicu: From CVE-2007-4770: libicu in International Components for Unicode (ICU) 3.8.1 and earlier attempts to process backreferences to the nonexistent capture group zero (aka \0), which might allow context-dependent attackers to read from, or write to, out-of-bounds memory locations, related to corruption of REStackFrames. From CVE-2007-4771: Heap-based buffer overflow in the doInterval function in regexcmp.cpp in libicu in International Components for Unicode (ICU) 3.8.1 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) and possibly have unspecified other impact via a regular expression that writes a large amount of data to the backtracking stack. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information. A link to a patch is at [1] http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_name=d03a2ffb0801221538x68825e42xb4a4aaf0fcccecbd%40mail.gmail.com This also affects libicu36 and probably libicu28. Bug#445764: libasis-dev: unmet dep libgnatvsn-dev (= 4.1)
Upon request from Matthias Klose, I changed the the gnat-4.1 and gnat-4.2 source packages so they provide versioned packages libgnatvsn4.1-dev, libgnatprj4.1-dev, libgnatvsn4.2-dev and libgnatprj4.2-dev. The source packages were just accepted today in the archive. In the mean time, I also uploaded gnat-4.3, libgnatvsn4.3-dev and libgnatprj4.3-dev. It is still in the NEW queue however. My plan is to skip the transition to gnat-4.2 and go directly for 4.3. The transition consists in waiting for gnat-4.3 to go through the NEW queue and then upload gcc-defaults to provide dummy packages: libgnatvsn-dev and libgnatprj-dev, depending on the 4.3 versions. Then I'll start work on the latest version of asis (2007). -- Ludovic Brenta. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#453148: Testing a change to rt2570
I added a patch to rt2570 in version rt2570/1.1.0+cvs20070927-1 that fixes some incorrect timing, but it may have introduced bugs. The maintainers of the Ralink packages in Debian do not have any hardware supported by rt2570, so we cannot test new packages ourselves. Please could you test this new version of the package: https://alioth.debian.org/frs/?group_id=31088release_id=1120 and report whether it fixes the bug you reported. Bug#462958: Size read failed
I just upgraded everything on my Testing system. I have now lost access to my email system, and investigation gives me the same result as you have, but there were no updates for SASL, the only thing relevant was pam_ldap, as I use PAM for saslauthd. Suffice to say, it is quite broken, and testsaslauthd returns: mrlinux2:/# testsaslauthd -u xxx -p yyy size read failed 0: mrlinux2:/# ...which is probably why my cyrus-imapd is giving me ambiguous checkpass failures and so on. I got everything working for me again temporarily by telling saslauthd to use ldap directly instead of via pam. - Jamie signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature

Bug#463739: vidir: fails if filesystem is full
Package: moreutils Version: 0.26 Severity: grave Tags: patch If TMPDIR lives on a filesystem that is full, vidir will be able to open a temp file, but not write to it. The user will then be presented with an empty file, and if they leave their editor, vidir will act as if all lines were deleted, and attempt to rm every file. (I hesitate to use grave for one small program in a package with many others, but this could cause some severe data loss. I was saved by the fact that vidir does not attempt to recursively delete directories.) I fixed this by checking the return value of close as well (see trivial patch). You might want to change the first die to cannot create or something like that to distinguish between the two different sorts of errors that can happen. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-rc5 (PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages moreutils depends on: ii libc6 2.7-5 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii perl 5.8.8-12 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction moreutils recommends no packages. -- no debconf information --- /usr/bin/vidir 2007-11-28 14:37:45.0 -0500 +++ /home/decklin/bin/vidir 2008-02-02 16:02:03.0 -0500 @@ -102,7 +102,7 @@ print OUT $c\t$_\n; } @dir=(); -close OUT; +close OUT || die $0: cannot write .$tmp-filename.: $!\n; my @editor=vi; if (-x /usr/bin/editor) {

Bug#463739: marked as done (vidir: fails if filesystem is full)
Your message dated Sun, 03 Feb 2008 00:36:23 + with message-id [EMAIL PROTECTED] and subject line Bug#463739: fixed in moreutils 0.27 has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. Please contact me immediately.) Debian bug tracking system administrator (administrator, Debian Bugs database) ---BeginMessage--- Package: moreutils Version: 0.26 Severity: grave Tags: patch If TMPDIR lives on a filesystem that is full, vidir will be able to open a temp file, but not write to it. The user will then be presented with an empty file, and if they leave their editor, vidir will act as if all lines were deleted, and attempt to rm every file. (I hesitate to use grave for one small program in a package with many others, but this could cause some severe data loss. I was saved by the fact that vidir does not attempt to recursively delete directories.) I fixed this by checking the return value of close as well (see trivial patch). You might want to change the first die to cannot create or something like that to distinguish between the two different sorts of errors that can happen. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-rc5 (PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages moreutils depends on: ii libc6 2.7-5 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii perl 5.8.8-12 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction moreutils recommends no packages. -- no debconf information --- /usr/bin/vidir 2007-11-28 14:37:45.0 -0500 +++ /home/decklin/bin/vidir 2008-02-02 16:02:03.0 -0500 @@ -102,7 +102,7 @@ print OUT $c\t$_\n; } @dir=(); -close OUT; +close OUT || die $0: cannot write .$tmp-filename.: $!\n; my @editor=vi; if (-x /usr/bin/editor) { ---End Message--- ---BeginMessage--- Source: moreutils Source-Version: 0.27 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of moreutils, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: moreutils_0.27.dsc to pool/main/m/moreutils/moreutils_0.27.dsc moreutils_0.27.tar.gz to pool/main/m/moreutils/moreutils_0.27.tar.gz moreutils_0.27_i386.deb to pool/main/m/moreutils/moreutils_0.27_i386.deb A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached.
