Bug#455768: paketto status?
The problem is that there's really no other library I know of that gives me such straightforward rapid packet parsing and transmission, at both layer 2 and layer 3, except maybe for libdnet (as far as I know). Have things gotten any better in the intervening years? Paul Wise wrote: On Tue, 2009-02-17 at 15:06 -0800, Dan Kaminsky wrote: It means I would rather write Paketto 3.0 than see this dropped :) Great! Is it OK if I schedule this work for late march, early april? There is currently an RC bug open about the libnet0 issue: http://bugs.debian.org/455768 In addition it will soon be removed from testing/squeeze: http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2009/02/msg00502.html ASAP would be preferred, I don't know how long it will be in sid with an RC bug for before QA people decide to remove it from the archive. In addition the Debian maintainer has not worked on the package since 2007 despite a number of easy to fix bugs being filed, so you might want to take over maintenance of the Debian package too. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Maybe you can find a workaround for that bug in iptotal. If not please port back the rrdtool fix to lenny (which probably is the better solution anyway). I'll have a look at the code and (possibly) adjust it for 4.2 release until/over the upcoming weekend. should we just package the Git master branch directly? Hi all, Are you sure this is not the new way of configuring xorg through hal? In my case, and if I am right, it means that any pointer using mouse and kbd drivers are ignored and evdev is used. My xorg.conf file is now empty - yes, empty. Package: python-glpk Version: 0.1.16-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable The version of python-glpk currently in unstable compiles fine but fails with the current libglpk0 (4.36-2): $ cd examples/ $ python example.py Traceback (most recent call last): File example.py, line 1, in module import glpk File /var/lib/python-support/python2.5/glpk.py, line 26, in module from glpkpi import * File /var/lib/python-support/python2.5/glpkpi.py, line 7, in module import _glpkpi ImportError: /var/lib/python-support/python2.5/_glpkpi.so: undefined symbol:_glp_lib_print_hook The problem comes from the fact that the upstream authors removed the some _glp_lib_* symbols from the API of GLPK since version 4.30, without changing the library SONAME. He justified doing that [1] because those routines have never been advertised as being part of the API before and were exported in libglpk0 by mistake. Bug#516008: possible arbitrary code execution from .desktop files in email attachments
Package: kdebase-bin Version: 4:3.5.9.dfsg.1-6 Severity: grave hello, as pointed out in http://www.geekzone.co.nz/foobar/6229 , at the moment KDE and gnome desktop allow to execute code by reading and interpreting a so called .desktop files which are launchers files without them being executable. This feature gives a malicious user the ability to make you download and execute malicious code without being aware . Scenario : Attacker Alice knows that Bob runs kde so she sends to him an email with an attachment as the one included here . The attachment is by default saved in a default location which for many users is ~/Desktop . Later Bob looks on the Desktop but it doesn't found any README file, instead it founds a strange file with an appealing name, it double clicks it but instead of launching the expected application the program execute a small script that download install and execute malicious code on the box. Problem: Bob has been framed because he executed a program without being aware of it. Solution: Change .desktop file to execute the command inside only if they have +x bit or - better - change those launcher files so that the first line would be #!/usr/bin/desktop-launch, with the rest of the script following afterwards. With the execute bit set this would become merely a normal script, which is interpreted by the specified separate 'shell' or utility, rather than something integrated into the desktop This issue has already been reported to freedesktop since 2006 but it has never been solved; while i know it's not a problem specific to debian only it is something indeed that affects debian too and you should be aware. In attachment one of those launchers file which, when double clicked will execute two konquerors. Bug#516028: xserver-xorg-input-all: Key and mouse acting weird after dist-upgrade Debian testing (escape sequence injection)
Package: xserver-xorg-input-all Version: 1:7.3+18 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable After a dist-upgrade of my Debian testing system to the bleeding edge a few days ago I had a problem after rebooting my system: - On the kdm logon screen I noticed a weird behaviour of my keyboard, I was not able to log in. - I switched to the console. On the console the keyboard behaved correctly. - I activated the automatic login feature in kdm and rebootet the system. - The system rebooted and directly logged into my KDE session. The system looked as before. - When typing on the keyboard, I noticed that every other key a new window opened, or another command executed. - I then noticed, that there is a pattern to this behaviour. - After starting xev and pressing the letter g two times I received this log: KeyPress event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x301, root 0x88, subw 0x0, time 180149, (474,128), root:(475,171), state 0x0, keycode 42 (keysym 0x67, g), same_screen YES, XLookupString gives 1 bytes: (67) g XmbLookupString gives 1 bytes: (67) g XFilterEvent returns: False KeyRelease event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x301, root 0x88, subw 0x0, time 180493, (474,128), root:(475,171), state 0x5, keycode 42 (keysym 0x47, G), same_screen YES, XLookupString gives 1 bytes: (07) XFilterEvent returns: False KeyPress event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x301, root 0x88, subw 0x0, time 180859, (474,128), root:(475,171), state 0x5, keycode 42 (keysym 0x47, G), same_screen YES, XLookupString gives 1 bytes: (07) XmbLookupString gives 1 bytes: (07) XFilterEvent returns: False KeyRelease event, serial 34, synthetic NO, window 0x301, root 0x88, subw 0x0, time 181154, (474,128), root:(475,171), state 0x5, keycode 42 (keysym 0x47, G), same_screen YES, XLookupString gives 1 bytes: (07) XFilterEvent returns: False - Interestingly, although I pressed g twice, only the first event reflects that choice. The other events look as if I pressed control key. - Another strange fact is that I do have no repeating key functionality on the system anymore. If I want to write ggg I have to press the letter g three times (or actually six times for every second time I trigger a command, like new window, duplicate window, bookmark...) - The xorg.conf file did not change since quite some time. So I am very sure that the configuration is (still) OK. - I suspect there is something wrong with X since the console is OK, KDE shows no sign of a wrong configuration and xev is reproducing the error in the log. This is an important bug since I can't use the system anymore (which makes bug reporting difficult) and I suspect others are affected as well. Bug#516023: openafs-modules-source: always uses i386 param.h
Aaron M. Ucko u...@debian.org writes: While attempting to build 1.4.8 modules on my x86_64 system, I ran into various surprising new errors. After some digging, I determined the problem: .../include/afs/param.h was a copy of .../src/config/param.i386_linux26.h rather than of .../param.amd64_linux26.h. Manually copying the latter over yielded much better results. (I first tried removing the inappropriate param.h in hopes that OpenAFS's build framework would automatically substitute the right version, but for some reason that didn't actually happen.) Oh, hm, make libafs_tree is arch-specific. Well, ugh. That was unexpected. I'm going to make openafs-modules-source arch: any for right now; since it's so much smaller than the old method, this doesn't use much more archive space and still makes each installed package a lot smaller. In the long run, I'll work with upstream to include the rest of the build machinery to correctly choose param.h at build time. In other news, debian/rules clean really ought to clear out *-stamp. After some digging, I determined the problem: .../include/afs/param.h was a copy of .../src/config/param.i386_linux26.h rather than of .../param.amd64_linux26.h. Manually copying the latter over yielded much better results. (I first tried removing the inappropriate param.h in hopes that OpenAFS's build framework would automatically substitute the right version, but for some reason that didn't actually happen.) In other news, debian/rules clean really ought to clear out *-stamp. Could you please address these issues? Bug#516028: xserver-xorg-input-all: Key and mouse acting weird after dist-upgrade Debian testing (escape sequence injection)
Mark wrote: - On the kdm logon screen I noticed a weird behaviour of my keyboard, I was not able to log in. Don't be so sure. Please send your config and log. Probably a dupe of the other libxi6 bugs? Bug#516056: zh-autoconvert: Gtk1.2 about to be removed from Debian
Package: zh-autoconvert Version: 0.3.16-2 Severity: serious Hi, Gtk1.2 will not be shipping with Squeeze so zh-autoconvert will either need to be ported to Gtk2 or removed from the archive. It appears that the xchat-plugin relies on some header files and gtk-config. The package does build by build-depending on libgtk2.0-dev and modifying contrib/xchat-plugins/Makefile to use pkg-config --cflags gtk+-2.0 instead of gtk-config --cflags but I have no idea if it actually works as expected.
