  Thanks Steve.

This broke only recently with liblocale-gettext-perl 1.05-5 which
switched to the 'debhelper 7 tiny rules' and lost the dh_perl '-d'
  option as a side effect.

I don't think debhelper is to blame here, so reassigning again.

Indeed, I just uploaded a fixed package. Thanks for the report.

Closing it now, as I closed the bug affected to perl with my upload (by
mistake).

2009-09-30 Thread Ludovic CHEVALIER
Hi!

It's very difficult for me to send this bug report without fonctionnal

keyboard. It's very difficult for me to downgrade all the fine package
to restaure a fonctionnal version of xserver before upgrade with the
last testing packages. It's very difficult for me to send a bug report

But ...
I'm just reinstalled the last xserver version with a aptitude

I restarted X server without problem. But, when I restart my computer, I

Downgrading to mesa 7.5 didn't help.
Now I switched to radeonhd, but it worse than radeon in terms of speed.

helps.

Description: a UNIX init scheme with service supervision
runit is a replacement for SysV-init and other init schemes. It runs on
Debian GNU/Linux, *BSD, MacOSX, and Solaris, and may be easily adapted
to other Unix operating systems. runit implements a simple three-stage
concept. Stage 1 performs the system's one-time initialization tasks.
Stage 2 starts the system's uptime services (via the runsvdir program).
Stage 3 handles the tasks necessary to shutdown and halt or reboot.
 .
 See http://smarden.org/runit/ for more information.
 .
This package replaces the /sbin/init program and configures runit to run
as process no 1 after the next reboot.

Hi,
after upgrade of xserver-xorg-core to 1.6.4 from 1.6.3.901 I get crashes
on startup. Log file with stacktrace is attached.

An upgrade of the intel driver from 2:2.8.1-2 to 2:2.8.99.902-1 (the
experimental version) fixed it.

Hi guys,

Since today, I cannot start X anymore. I tried with 2.6.30 and 31, and
it just segfaults. It used to work up to a couple of days ago without
any problem. AFAIK I did not change anything, so this may be due to a
recent upgrade of some packages (xserver ?)

I can provide full backtrace if needed.

I've the set bug grave, but there's a chance I'm the only one so feel
free to downgrade.

kwe,

This should probably go to the relevant module package, my apologies if
I've done something wrong unintentionally.

Last night when restarting my X session, the server was crashing,
behaving abnormally. Then the dialog-based window came up from gdm
would you like to see the error so I check it out, and seems the
radeon driver was crashing out on me.. It wasn't doing this before, so I
figure it was the new update for Xorg, Xephyr, et al. doing it.

I'll paste the backtrace I got in the Xorg.0.log:

Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support
 at http://wiki.x.org
=

As you can see, something changed and it's making the radeon_srv.so module
crash.

PS: This AGP card I have to have an xorg.conf because EXA didn't used to be the
default,
and I have to force the mode to 4x, otherwise it starts making my mouse cursor
jiggle
from *something*, and eventually bring the whole box down (hard lock-up)
(separate issue).
The mode doesn't get detected properly I suspect, since it spits out something
like
putting the card into 0x mode in the log. Please make a not of this, but
don't include
this in *this* bug report, as it's a separate issue.

thanks,
Simon

After upgrading, X server just dies on startup, with SEGV (11).

Bug#548913: udev Forces mdadm to Uninstall.

2009-09-30 Thread martin f krafft
affects 541884 udev
thanks

also sprach Pat Suwalski p...@suwalski.net [2009.09.29.1755 +0200]:
This needs to be resolved quickly, or there will be many more
broken computers. In my case, I didn't see mdadm was being removed
with all of the no longer required ia32 libs list taking up the
 whole screen.

Filing new bugs won't help. In fact, it takes time away that I could
use towards mdadm. But I am swamped and I won't be able to do this
for a few weeks. NMUs welcome.

 #525888: /usr/include/samba-4.0/dcerpc.h: Missing dependency on samba4-dev

This bug was fixed in an earlier upload, sorry for not mentioning that
  in the changelog.

The bug is still here (albeit in a different variant) in the latest
version in unstable. gen_ndr/dcerpc.h from libdcerpc-dev references
core/ntstatus.h and gen_ndr/misc.h from samba4-dev, and there is no
appropriate dependency.

Furthermore, util.h from libsamba-util-dev references charset.h and
util/attr.h from samba4-dev, without a dependency either.

ndr.h from libndr-dev references core/error.h; same cause, same
consequence.

Cheers,

Bug#548716: X server crashes upon startup with SEGV

2009-09-30 Thread Michal Suchanek hramr...@centrum.cz
Package: xserver-xorg-core
Severity: normal

I do not see this mentioned here already

For me 1.6.3 X server with 2.8.1 Intel driver works, 1.6.4 X server with with
2.8.1 Intel driver crashes.

1.6.4 with 2.9 driver does not crash but does not find my display.

Package: mdadm
Version: 3.0-2

dist-upgrading unstable to udev version 146-3 causes mdadm to uninstall,
since udev 'Break's mdadm 3.0-3, and the newest version is 3.0-2.

This needs to be resolved quickly, or there will be many more broken
computers. In my case, I didn't see mdadm was being removed with all of
the no longer required ia32 libs list taking up the whole screen.

Package: mdadm
Version: 3.0-2
Severity: important

The next udev upload will not contain the vol_id program anymore, since
it was removed by the upstream maintainer in May, and will declare a
Breaks relationship with the current version of your package.

You need to update the rules file in your package to use:

/sbin/blkid -o udev -p ...

instead of:

vol_id --export ...

Your package will need to depend on util-linux 2.16.

 The last explanation wasn't correct.

Rather, binutils/gcc can't handle pie/PIE on mips* anymore.

So, please drop PIE as compiler argument on these architectures. Than
this package should build. (hardening-wrapper used to add -fpie but
 not anymore with version 1.15.)

This was done in 1.4.1-3, and the build log [1] shows no PIE/pie any
more, but it still segfaults at the same place. So I reopen this.

If you have a patch that fixes this, please feel invited to NMU. cups
is RFA anyway, so it's pretty much free game right now.

Thanks,

Martin

Bug#520189: keeps nspluginwrapper from migration into testing

2009-09-30 Thread Ari Pollak
Adrian Glaubitz wrote:
Moreover, since all kernel packages in testing have been upgraded to
2.6.30, the issue should have solved itself. One could introduce a
dependency on linux-image-2.6, version 2.6.27 or higher but I don't
really know whether this is a clean solution. In any case,
nspluginwrapper works in testing now, so please get it officially in.

Read my earlier message. There is no minimum kernel requirement of
2.6.27 or higher for squeeze, and you can't just declare a kernel
dependency and hope the user isn't running a lower kernel version.

Bug#549049: latest libc6 and X11 do not work together

2009-09-30 Thread Hans-J. Ullrich
Package: libc6
Severity: critical
Justification: breaks unrelated software

Dear maintainers,

after the last upgrade, it seems libc6 and X11 will not work together (I
cannot prove which one of both is causing the problem).

After the latest upgrade X inhibits to start and shows this message:

 0: /usr/bin/X11/X(xorg_backtrace+0x26) [0x4edfe6]

 11: /usr/bin/X11/X [0x432819]

It looks like there is a problem with libc6. This problemn appears at a
user, whoms system I maintain (sadly the user is not experienced in debian
and linux, and I am 600km away). But I have ssh access to this system.

It would be nice, if you could take a look on this behaviour.

Thank you very much!

Hans-J. Ullrich

Bug#549047: FTBFS with .UTF-8 locales: sed errors; build hangs

2009-09-30 Thread PÁSZTOR György
Hi!

Rene Engelhard r...@debian.org írta 2009-09-30 16:34-kor:
(I tried with C which works, de_DE and hu_HU which work, and neither
 de_DE.UTF-8 nor
hu_HU.UTF-8 - what is shown above - do work)
Maybe the problem is that, those files are in ISO-8859-2 (latin2) enc.
Can you try that?

BTW.: I don't have too much time to follow the updates of that package's
upstream, etc. So I planned to orphan that. (I didn't even have time for
orphan it.)

Would you maintain it? If you have explicit questions about It I would
gladly help, but I don't have time for the... sorrounding work.
(Eg. build a package, test it, check my build environment, etc.)

Cheers,
gyu

Bug#549062: firebird 2.0 pending obsoletion

2009-09-30 Thread Damyan Ivanov
Package: firebird2.0
Version: 2.0.5.13206-0.ds2-4
Severity: serious

I intent to phase firebird2.0 out of the archive. firebird2.5 is to be released
soon, and having three versions in squeeze is too much. Even in 2.5 doesn't
make it to squeeze, the current recommended version is 2.1, which makes it
pointless to support 20 for another release cycle.

I am filing the bug to let people know about the intention.

Also, some bugs shall be filed against packages build-depending on
firebird2.0-dev, to make them build-depend on firebird2.1-dev or even
firebird2.5-dev (if it is available at the time). Blocking this bug on them
will help keeping the progress under control.

Presently, the following packages build-depend on firebird2.0-dev:

 - flamerobin (uploaded today with B-D of firebird2.1-dev)
 - gambas2
 - gnugk
 - python-kinterbasdb
 - qt4-x11

This bug has been fixed in the new upstream version 1.004, which has
been upgraded in pkg-perl's repository some time ago. I have not
attempted to push an upload of the package, however, because it's an
arch: all package. I'm not a DD (maybe you or someone else can chime
in if I am mistaken) but arch: all packages are only built once, so it
should not cause FTBFS errors on buildds etc.

FTBFS is FTBFS. The mackage may need to be built for a security update
for example.

I consider the changes I've made upstream not worthy of an upgrade
in Debian, but if I am mistaken I can correct that immediately.

I'd say that fixing bugs is always a good reason for upload :)

Bug#549073: msmtp-gnome: depends on gnome-keyring-manager which is being removed

2009-09-30 Thread Josselin Mouette
Package: msmtp-gnome
Version: 1.4.18-1

Hi,

msmtp-gnome currently depends on gnome-keyring-manager. However this
frontend is being removed; the recommended one is now seahorse.

Anyway, I doubt this package actually depends on the configuration
frontend. If it’s just the daemon that it needs, the dependency should
be on gnome-keyring instead.

Bug#549078: Should this package be removed?

2009-09-30 Thread Kumar Appaiah
Package: straw
Version: 0.27-0.1
Severity: serious

Hi!

The straw package has not been maintained well of late. Upstream has
also not made any major developments, and the situation does not seem
to be improving in the near future:

http://strawreader.wordpress.com/2009/06/14/update/

Several bugs, some RC, some which would become RC in the near future,
have been piling up.

Given this situation, I was wondering if it would be wise to remove
straw from the archive. If upstream activity picks up, we can
reintroduce it at that time. What is your opinion on this?

I shall wait for a week for arguments against removal. If nobody
minds, I shall request removal in a week.

Thank you.

Kumar

 Hi,

There is still at least one reverse build-dependency that needs resolved
 before this can be removed:

As you can see, libtqt4-ruby for resting/unstable is still provided by
the libqt4-ruby source package on hurd-i386. hurd is not officially
supported, is it ? If no, you can safely remove the source libqt4-ruby
from the archive. On all other arches, libqt4-ruby1.8 is provided by
kdebindings 4:something.

  Cheers,

Vincent

Bug#549106: libqt4 segfault during kde startup splashscreen

2009-09-30 Thread Ivan Sergio Borgonovo
Package: kde4
Version: 5
Severity: serious

After upgrading to latest kde4 libqtcore4 segfault during kde
startup in splashscreen.
KDE startup is very slow.
I get a window to report the kde bug but kde is on its knees and I
don't know how to save the trace.

If I install the -dbg package startup becomes faster and there is no
segfault.

I know the report is very poor but I don't know how to improve it.

I'm running amd64 on an Intel Core 2 Duo.

thanks

maybe this is not important or wanted:

all freetype-modules in this package are missing. Obviously they are missing
in testing and in unstable. In stable the modules are still there in this
package.

Hope it helps.

So just *don't enable* dynamic playlists in the meantime. The bug is
tracked upstream at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20 and is a
2.2 release blocker. You will have to wait a week and a few days to get
  resolution (in 2.2 final).

1) This bug will not be fixed in 2.2.0-1.
2) I have been using Dynamic Playlists for a few days and I never ran into
this bug. That does not mean this bug is not valid though. However, since it
does not happen for everyone with Dynamic Playlists ON and there is a known
workaround (disabling Dynamic Playlists), I'm lowering the severity to
important. 2.2.1 will be released in 6 weeks from now however I will include
the patch in the 2.2.0 package as soon as the fix is available upstream.

Bug#548716: xserver-xorg-core: X server crashes upon startup with SEGV

2009-09-30 Thread Hans-J. Ullrich
Hi all,
I can confirm this on an amd-64/sid with an ATI graphics card.

Same messages as the other people reported. I tried to reinstall the packages
of testingm with no success. Just to get X started, I added vesa as the
driver, and X started.

But using ati or radeon is crashing with SEG 11.

I myself am using a Nvidia graphic card, which is running perfectly (using the
closed source driver).

Well, using driver nv, which is the open source driver, is working, too.

IMO, this crash is mainly related to ATI-cards. Is there anyone, who confirm
this bug on cards other than ATI cards?

Any information is welcome.

Cheers

Hans

This is a known bug in the upstream xserver 1.6.4 release. It will

Bug#549126: FTBFS on mips as it tries to create a directory in $HOME

2009-09-30 Thread Luk Claes
Package: udev
Version: 146-3
Severity: serious

Hi

udev FTBFS on mips as these build daemons don't have an existing $HOME, so one
cannot create a subdirectory in them.

It would be good to not fail the build when this is the case.

Cheers

Luk

Is there a reason or they just like to be differenet?

It would be good to not fail the build when this is the case.
g-ir-scanner is failing, not udev:

/usr/lib/gobject-introspection/giscanner/cachestore.py:
cachedir = os.path.join(homedir, '.cache')

I do not understand why since the code appears to check if the directory
exists, but I will leave figuring this out to somebody who does not
despise python.
