Bug#669062: X segfaults in pthread() on kfreebsd
El 17 d’abril de 2012 0:59, Christoph Egger christ...@debian.org ha escrit: ii libc0.1:kfreebsd-amd64 2.13-27 so unpatched. do you think timer.diff can fix anything here? Uhm no. After seeing the GDB backtrace I don't think it's a glibc problem. so maybe pthread() is only in that X backtrace thing but not actually involved, also I think there are no debug symbols for vesa. I'll try get back to compile a nostrip version of it tomorrow. Maybe also install xserver-xorg-core-dbg. -- Robert Millan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#669079: [Pkg-ime-devel] Bug#669079: [libchewing] dbg package not usable when --enable-debug gets removed during build
Aron Xu happyaron...@gmail.com writes: Package: src:libchewing Version: 0.3.3-4 Severity: grave Hi, I'm blocking 0.3.3-4's migration to testing, because the changes of removing --enable-debug will make libchewing3-dbg package not usable. dh_strip can strip out debugging symbols to -dbg package so there is no risk of leaking private data if the library is written properly. If the debug symbols cannot be stripped correctly, then please either remove the -dbg package or build the source twice with different flags. Note that I've add an -g to CFLAGS so there will be correct debug information attached. --enable-debug, though it's name might be confusing, is really only for developer for debugging purpose. It will write logs to /tmp thus leaking private data and shouldn't be enabled by default. Please close this bug if you agree. Bug#477751: tackling this bug
Helmut Grohne wrote: In the unlikely event that the admin called it, it would detect that the file was a conffile and not delete it. An admin could call update-catalog --transition for a package that was not rebuilt with the newer debhelper. In that case harm would still happen. Do you have an idea about how to prevent this? Since this is deleting possibly modified config files on upgrade anyway, this doesn't seem worth worrying about. I do not see any complexity in a versioned dependency; dh_installcatalogs already adds one. It must be a Pre-Depends, since we are using it in preinst. Ok, that's annoying as each package would need misc:PreDepends added. In that case, maybe this should be left in debhelper. I am pretty uncomfortable with it though, especially since it does delete config files. -- see shy jo signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Thinking about it we could check the state of the package being transitioned. If an admin calls --transition that would most likely be ii. I am pretty uncomfortable with it though, especially since it does delete config files. So we seem to agree that both solutions (present vs. adding --transition to sgml-base) are doable and both have their own problems. Are you still interested in pushing the transitional code to sgml-base? Your arguments have convinced me that it could work. I have not yet updated the patch to do that, so please tell me whether you want that change (at least for evaluation). Vulnerable subcomponent: Exception Handler Vulnerability Type: Cross-Site Scripting Severity: Medium Suggested CVSS v2.0: AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:N/E:F/RL:OF/RC:C Problem Description: Failing to properly encode the output, the default TYPO3 Exception Handler is susceptible to Cross-Site Scripting. We are not aware of a possibilty to exploit this vulnerability without third party extensions being installed that put user input in exception messages. However it has come to our attention that extensions using the extbase MVC framework can be used to exploit this vulnerability if these extensions accept objects in controller actions. In general and especially when in doubt if the above conditions are met, we highly recommend users of affected versions to update as soon as possible. Imortant Note: In case you have configured your own exception handler for TYPO3 you need to make sure that the exception messages are properly encoded within this exception handler before they are presented. -- MfG, Christian Welzel GPG-Key: http://www.camlann.de/de/pgpkey.html Fingerprint: 4F50 19BF 3346 36A6 CFA9 DBDC C268 6D24 70A1 AD15 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#661283: cmor: FTBFS on kfreebsd-amd64

I've increased it to 3 GiB on my amd64 workstation, and now I can build cmor (just binNMUed it btw). For the amd64 buildds, you can put something like at the end of /etc/grub.d/00_header: echo set kFreeBSD.kern.dfldsiz=3072M and re-run update-grub. Be careful if you decide to raise it on i386. I'm not sure what effect could this have on available virtual memory. -- Robert Millan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#669172: libc6: preinst fails in -28 and since then also in -27
The reason this fails in -27 as well as -28 is because it has nothing to do with -28, it just got triggered for people by a new eglibc upload, period. The real bug here is that dpkg has decided that referring to multi-arch:same packages without the :arch suffix is bad, wrong and evil, and eglibc sprinkles dpkg -L LIBC and such all over its maintainer scripts without adding an :arch qualifier. I'll look at this tonight when I get off work and commit some fixes, unless someone beats me to it. ... Bug#669098: qapt FTBFS MD5Summation and debMD5 undeclared
Hi Jonathan and hello qapt debian-maintainers, Attached is a simple patch to fix the FTBFS of qapt since apt = 0.9: src/debfile.cpp:187:5: error: 'MD5Summation' was not declared in this scope The problem is that it seems like I forgot to guard some header cleanup properly, so the transitive include of apt-pkg/md5.h is gone now. We might end up fixing this in libapt-pkg-dev, but as transitive includes are a bad thing it should be fixed in qapt either way. (After wheezy release we might start bugging front-ends to have a look at APT_8_CLEANER_HEADERS, but that is another story…) Best regards David Kalnischkies qapt-669098-ftbfs-md5summation-undeclared.diff Description: Binary data

Bug#661283: cmor: FTBFS on kfreebsd-amd64
On 17/04/12 23:02, Robert Millan wrote: El 14 de març de 2012 15:46, Christoph Egger christ...@debian.org ha escrit: kern.dfldsiz: 134217728 That's just 128 MiB. Argh I misunderstood this before. Yes 128 MiB is definitely too low for cmor; it seems to need ~700 MiB to pass the test suite or run at all. For kfreebsd-i386: cmor never built on this anyway, so it's not vital we fix that. Anyone planning to run climate models can surely find an amd64 system with plenty of RAM. It built on Linux i386, but only because it doesn't enforce this type of limit. The FreeBSD handbook mentions raising DFLDSIZ for memory pigs[1] but never higher than 1 GiB on i386. I think other kernel memory limits are hit at that point anyway. Trying to raise it much higher leaves my system unable to spawn init. With a DFLDSIZ setting of 512 MiB I can still boot a system with only 64 MiB physical RAM. To make the compiled-in default any higher would also require raising MAXDSIZ, or else it is still too low for cmor. So I suggest leaving this alone. For kfreebsd-amd64: A default of 128 MiB is quite low, and common software in Debian like mysql, squid or inkscape may have a problem with it. The MySQL 5.0 manual[2] recommends 1 GiB and I think that would be a sensible default. A DFLDSIZ of even 32 GiB on amd64 does not stop system with only 128 MiB physical RAM from booting. Bug#654783: about test_socket hang
On 16/04/12 22:08, Robert Millan wrote: If I hit ^Z, poll is interrupted, then fg makes it progress. By doing this a couple of times I managed to make test_socket finish. Alternatively, I patched glibc with this workaround (see attachment). This makes the test finish in about 16 seconds. Strange, the workaround hasn't really changed anything for me on kfreebsd-i386: test_socket still hangs some of the time. When that happens the ^Z / fg trick doesn't help me. Hi! On Tue, 2012-04-17 at 22:38:21 +, Adam Conrad wrote: The real bug here is that dpkg has decided that referring to multi-arch:same packages without the :arch suffix is bad, wrong and evil, and eglibc sprinkles dpkg -L LIBC and such all over its maintainer scripts without adding an :arch qualifier. As mentioned on the d-d-a mail, you should not unconditionally arch-qualify packages, as those will be refused on non-multiarch aware dpkg, but you can check if that's supported by using «dpkg --assert-multi-arch». thanks, guillem -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. package: libvorbisidec severity: grave version: 1.0.2+svn16259-2 tag: security libvorbisidec shares a large majority of its code with libvorbis. There have been quite a few security issues fixed in libvorbis over the past few years that have subsequently gone unfixed here. Original report: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=668667 I reread this one a few times, I'm not clear on what: == printf 'GET /cgi-bin/munin-cgi-graph/localdomain/localhost.localdomain/vmstat-day.png?foo HTTP/1.0\r\nHost: localhost\r\nConnection: close\r\n\r\n' | nc localhost 80 Provided that the filename actually exists, munin will render the image == means exactly, does the file vmstat-day.png need to exist where? It seems like if the image is of any size (say 20k or more) the amplification (each get request = 20k of tmp space usage) and the files have to be deleted manually it might qualify as a DoS. hel...@subdivi.de can you shed more light on this? The basic requirement is that a plugin called vmstat is configured for the node localhost.localdomain. I just picked it as an example, cause it is present on my system. In practise any plugin for any host will do. Is this the default configuration? In addition munin parses parts of the query string. You are allowed to modify the size of the image. By choosing a path png?size_x=2size_y=2uniquestuff you can do the same attack while simultaneously using a large image size. The raw image would be 381M (assuming 8bits/pixel) in this case. A png version will likely be smaller, say 4M? So now you have an amplification of 4M/request. Note that this query can get a node into swapping, because rrdtool needs to create the whole image in main memory. Hope this helps Ouch. Bug#668667: [oss-security] CVE Request (minor) -- Two Munin graphing framework flaws

I am not that sure about the defaults, because I changed them. However running a Munin without any plugins is pointless. It is like running a mail server that does not transport any mail. You don't even have to guess the name of a configured plugin, because those images are linked from the html. Finding a configured plugin is really no issue on any sane munin installation. Sane administrators may have to restricted access to munin to themselves as to not expose the monitoring results to the public though.
