Bug#712113: twittering-mode: Useless without API 1.1 support

2013-06-13 Thread Daniel Franganillo
Package: twittering-mode
Version: 2.0.0+git20120325-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Please update twmode. The 1.0 API of twitter just started to give 410
gone messages, meaning that no longer is supporting the ancient 1.0 API
New versions also depend on json.el which is installed with emacs23-common.

Thanks.

 Package: foomatic-filters

 Justification: renders package unusable

 I have a good old Canon BJC-250 printer that I've been using for years on my
 Linux stations. Currently it's plugged to an old Pentium box (since it's
 parport) running Wheezy which acts as a print server. The printer had worked
 flawlessly with older distros/CUPS/foomatic versions, and I'm using the
 bjc250gs drivers as it is the fastest driver for it (and it allows to tune
 some
 printer-specific features).

 However, since having moved all my systems to Wheezy (i386 and amd64, all
 clean
 installs), the bjc250gs driver is unusable for me, since it always causes
 foomatic-rip to end abruptly, and therefore nothing is sent to the printer. I
 had enabled debugging messages on CUPS, but found nothing interesting except
 for this:

Could you try the step here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems

Thanks

 It happens on ALL of my Wheezy installs (ranging from that old Pentium MMX-225
 box all the way up to a Sandy Bridge i5 laptop). My only workaround is to use
 the Gutenprint driver, which not only is slower, but harder to set up and
 getting good print quality from that one is not exactly straightforward,
 unlike
 with bjc250gs.

 Trying to find documentation or useful resources online with foomatic-related
 errors it's like a shot in the dark, because there is nothing clear, just
 dozens and dozens of users with the same error, but on different
 printer/driver
 combinations, none of those apply to my case.

Bug#712124: lintian: FTBFS test failure - binary-compiled-with-profiling-enabled no longer emitted

2013-06-13 Thread Niels Thykier
Package: lintian
Version: 2.5.13
Severity: serious

Admittedly only tested on git master, but the error appeared on its
own (with an {cow,p}builder --update in between). Notably, a new
version of binutils was uploaded recently and I suspect (without having
confirmed) that it is related.

The actual test failure is:

 I did a NMU because no upload has been done during the last 6 months and

 But, yes, I should have check the git repository.

 Do you want me to cancel the upload ?

Yes, please cancel this NMU.

I've been testing prepared package with local build on some archs,
and it will be needed some few days (to revive my test environment), I
guess.

Package: pxe-pdhcp
Version: 0.1-1
Severity: serious

After uploading this package, I realize this is eating 100% of CPU.
Just because single thread and I am using multicore system, it is usable
but it waistes CPU.

As I see the all the use records on the web, people are mostly running
this when the need this. So maybe it was OK. But to be Debian package,
this daemon needs to be updated by using poll(2). I guess adding PID
file support was not good enough to be good Debian package. Sigh... my
fault.

Also, just like tftp-hpa bug, this is not started by sysv init.

Justification: fails to build from source

flexbar only supports a subset of Debian architectures: it lacks
upstream support for 32-bit builds (except on Windows, for some
reason), and build depends on libtbb-dev, which is only available for
a handful of architectures. Could you please consider tightening its
Architecture field accordingly? It looks like

Architecture: amd64 ia64

is all that you can expect to work at the moment.

Thanks!

Package: src:holotz-castle
Version: 1.3.14-5
Severity: important
Tags: sid jessie
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: ftbfs-gcc-4.8

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-4.8/g++-4.8, but succeeds to build with gcc-4.7/g++-4.7. The
severity of this report may be raised before the jessie release.

  ../JLib/JLib/Util/JRW.h:206:16: error: typedef 'pre_cxx0x_static_assert'
locally defined but not used [-Werror=unused-local-typedefs]

The full build log can be found at:
http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs-20130217/gcc48/holotz-castle_1.3.14-5_unstable_gcc48.log
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 4.8, either set CC=gcc-4.8 CXX=g++-4.8 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t experimental install g++ g++-4.7 g++-4.8 libc6-dev

The test rebuild was done with eglibc-2.17 and GCC-4.8, so some issues
might be caused by the updated glibc.

Bug#712140: check: Missing dependency for static linking (libpthread)

2013-06-13 Thread Laurent Bigonville
Package: check
Version: 0.9.10-2
Severity: grave

Hi,

It seems that the .pc file is missing the dependency against the
libpthread library. This is breaking the build of (the upcoming version
of) the sssd package.

The check.pc.in file seems to include a macro for this, but for some
reasons it's not expanded.

Cheers

Laurent Bigonville

Bug#712149: ibus: inconsistent location of libexecdir breaks setup dialog

2013-06-13 Thread Osamu Aoki
Package: ibus
Version: 1.4.1-9
Severity: serious
Justification: major part of the package are mostly unuseful unless fixed

Until reported to ime-pkg ML, we overlooked this bug.

In the course of M-A/LSB compliant, we broke ibus set up infrastructure
badly. Key discussion is summarized at:

  http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-ime-devel/2013-June/003036.html

Some language suffered more ... so let's fix it.

 * All impacted packages (M-A: foreign) ... I think.
 * libexecdir = use /usr/lib (debhelper compat=9 required)
 * No more random override for configure of libexecdir

Bug#712149: Follow-up: ibus: inconsistent location of libexecdir breaks setup dialog

2013-06-13 Thread Osamu Aoki
Hi,

Hmmm... situation is a bit more complicated than I hoped.

Simply removing --libexec=/usr/lib/$(DEB_BUILD_MULTIARCH)/ibus
was still putting these plug-in in /usr/lib/$(DEB_BUILD_MULTIARCH).

Considering some IME packages did not make them into M-A, this is not
good place.

Since these set-up executables are M-A: foreign components, we should
set this to --libexec=/usr/lib/ibus or --libexec=/usr/lib.

Although both are acceptable per policy, let's do
--libexec=/usr/lib/ibus.

This is because /usr/lib is for general library and /usr/lib/pkg/ was
for plug-in library for pkg. (I know it is not much argument. But
cleaner.)

Dear Maintainer,
binutils-mingw-w64-i686 currently fails to install on a system where

seem to install the file '/usr/lib/ldscripts/i386pe.x'

Bug#712108: [Pkg-virtualbox-devel] Bug#712108: vboxsf: Unknown symbol VBoxGuest_RTSemMutexRelease (err 0)

2013-06-13 Thread Shaddy Baddah

Hi,

On 13/06/13 13:52, Shaddy Baddah wrote:

[ 9637.902971] vboxsf: Unknown symbol VBoxGuest_RTSemMutexDestroy (err 0)

I cannot mount shared folders.

I realise now that this is not a legitimate bug, and would like to
withdraw it. I apologise for the confusion.

I honestly thought I had restarted after upgrading to 4.2.10-dfsg-1.
However I had not, and it appears that vboxguest module is not reloaded
during the upgrade.

A restart shows that vboxsf is able to resolve the symbols from
vboxguest.

Please close.

It looks like this error stems from build-arch's dependency on
binary-arch, which requires (effectively) elevated privileges. Please
have build-arch and build-indep simply depend on build-stamp.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with

severity of this report may be raised before the jessie release.

The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 4.8, either set CC=gcc-4.8 CXX=g++-4.8 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t experimental install g++ g++-4.7 g++-4.8 libc6-dev

The test rebuild was done with eglibc-2.17 and GCC-4.8, so some issues
might be caused by the updated glibc.

I'll fix that shortly by moving binutils-mingw-w64's linker scripts to an
architecture-specific directory (as standard in binutils - technically this
just involved reverting 001_ld_makefile_patch.patch when building
binutils-mingw-w64).

Matthias, to help upgrades this will still need a Breaks statement in
binutils - presumably binutils-mingw-w64 ( 2.23.52.20130612-1+3).

 I'm experiencing the same problem, but with all local (music) files. I'm
 bumping
 the severity to grave since now banshee is unusable.

 The parameters were:
 --transient-for=44040208
 gstreamer|1.0|Banshee|MPEG-1 Layer 3 (MP3) decoder|decoder-audio/mpeg,
 mpegversion=(int)1, mpegaudioversion=(int)1, layer=(int)3,
 parsed=(boolean)true

 I suspect banshee is not really compatible with gstreamer 1.0 yet.

 Works for me. I don't see why you would be seeing such an error. Could you
 post
 the full output of `banshee --debug` please?

I'm attaching the log of banshee --debug. After opening it, I tried
playing a song and then quit immediately, to avoid getting much noise.

Bug#708434: drizzle: FTBFS (sorry, unimplemented: Graphite loop optimizations can only be used if the libcloog-ppl0 package is installed)

2013-06-13 Thread Tobias Frost
Package: src:drizzle
Followup-For: Bug #708434

Just for documentation: It seems that the gcc version used in the failing archs
buildd's are still looking for libcloog-ppl0, while this is gone from the
archives for libcloog-ppl1.

Probably a binNMU on the affected gcc version would do it...

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package creates a world
writable file:

-rw-rw-rw- 1 root www-data 34 May 29 14:47
/var/cache/phpbb3/cache/phpbb3/data_hooks.php

This was observed on upgrades from sid to experimental.
So far I didn't notice it in any other install or upgrade path.

Dear Maintainer,
binutils-mingw-w64-i686 currently fails to install on a system where
binutils_2.23.52.20130612-1 is already installed, because both packages
seem to install the file '/usr/lib/ldscripts/i386pe.x'

this might as well be a bug in the `binutils` package.

Bug#712182: kamailio: FTBFS on non-Linux: lacks appropriate configuration

2013-06-13 Thread Aaron M. Ucko
Source: kamailio
Version: 4.0.2-1
Severity: serious
Justification: fails to build from source

Thanks for taking care of #707038. Builds of kamailio now succeed on
Linux, but still fail on kFreeBSD:

  resolve.h:471:4: error: #error neither gethostbyname2 or getipnodebyname
present

The problem appears to be that Makefile.defs, which handles
configuration upstream, doesn't know what to make of kFreeBSD. It
does support traditional FreeBSD systems (with their native
userspace), but that configuration may need some tweaking to reflect
Debian's use of eglibc on all architectures.

AFAICT, the Hurd is similarly affected, but it's not a release
architecture, and moreover still lacks Mono.

At any rate, could you please take a look?

Thanks!

Hi,

a test with piuparts revealed that your package uses files from
/usr/share/doc in its maintainer scripts which is a violation of
Policy 12.3: Packages must not require the existence of any files in
/usr/share/doc/ in order to function.
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s12.3

These files must be moved to /usr/share/$PACKAGE and may be symlinked
from /usr/share/doc/$PACKAGE.

This piuparts test prevents the installation of (most) files into
/usr/share/doc with 'dpkg --path-exclude=...'.

Bug#711107: gtk+3.0: FTBFS on ia64 and mips

2013-06-13 Thread Patrick Baggett
OK, I turned on my machine and re-ran the 'a11y/children' test.

It worked just fine under X and Xvfb when I ran it as just ./children and
xvfb-run ./children respectively -- I get OK messages like you wrote
initially and no assertion failures.

Next I deleted the whole gtk+3.0 directory, redownloaded the source, and
rebuilt it. I hit the same error:

WARNING **: Error retrieving accessibility bus address:
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.a11y.Bus was not
provided by any .service files

---
If anyone has an idea why running this before building gtk+3.0 is ok, but
running it afterwards fails, I'd love to know. I can say that whatever the
original problem (assertion failure in children.c) was, I didn't seem to
run into it.

Patrick

 Pardon
  the newbie question -- do I use apt-get to pull the source and then build
  it using make test or some other procedure?

 That's great! Something like this should work:

 apt-get update
 apt-get source gtk+3.0
 apt-get build-dep gtk+3.0
 cd gtk+3.0-3.8.2
 dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc

 At some point the build will fail (when running the tests). Then do:

 cd debian/build/shared/tests/a11y

 ./children

 And see if the test passes. And

 xvfb-run ./children

 And see if it fails.

 Thanks!

Bug#712196: check: broken on kfreebsd-amd64, segfault in __pthread_fork if there is more than one test

2013-06-13 Thread Sebastian Ramacher
Package: check
Version: 0.9.10-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

check currently does not work on kfreebsd-amd64. Consider the following
example:

$ cat check.c
#include check.h

START_TEST(test) {
} END_TEST
START_TEST(test2) {
} END_TEST
START_TEST(test3) {
} END_TEST

int main()
{
  Suite* s = suite_create(test);
  TCase* tc_core = tcase_create(test);
  tcase_add_test(tc_core, test);
  tcase_add_test(tc_core, test2);
  tcase_add_test(tc_core, test3);
  suite_add_tcase(s, tc_core);
  SRunner* sr = srunner_create(s);
  srunner_run_all(sr, CK_NORMAL);
  srunner_free(sr);
  return 0;
}

Now compile and run it:

$ gcc check.c $(pkg-config --cflags check) $(pkg-config --libs check) -pthread
$ ./a.out
Running suite(s): test
Segmentation fault

gdb gives me the following back trace:

#0  __pthread_fork (b=0x801239a60 __fork_block) at ptfork.c:72
#1  0x00403dfd in srunner_run ()
#2  0x00401981 in main ()

One test case is not enough to trigger the segfault. Setting CK_FORK=no makes
the segfault disappear. Since the default is broken and, according to the
documentation, CK_FORK=no is there for debugging purposes, I consider
check unusable and thus the severity.

Regards

  bumping
  the severity to grave since now banshee is unusable.

  The parameters were:
  --transient-for=44040208

  mpegversion=(int)1, mpegaudioversion=(int)1, layer=(int)3,

Okay, I think we're getting somewhere. Could you get me the output of the
following shell command please?

$ dpkg -S `readlink -f /usr/bin/gstreamer-codec-installer`

Okay, I did more poking around, and I'm now fairly confident that the bug is in
gnome-codec-install, which attempts to use pygst, which doesn't support
Gst1.0.
