Hi,

 Specifying dbi.so directory fixes this FTBFS bug, see attached diff.
 I'll upload it to 7-delayed queue, if you don't want it, please tell me.

 # git repo doesn't have master branch, so I'm not sure how to commit it.

Bug#738613: needs co-ordination with users

2014-02-11 Thread Daniel Pocock
Package: libasio-dev
Severity: serious
Version: 1.10-1

This package is a build dependency for other packages and they are all
likely to break with this new version

Lets get a list of impacted packages and co-ordinate with maintainers

The only package I know of personally is resiprocate

Bug#738613: Fedora / EPEL

2014-02-11 Thread Daniel Pocock

reSIProcate is also targetting Fedora and EPEL6. They are both carrying
asio 1.4.x now

We may need to contact the Fedora maintainer of asio-devel about whether
he will include 1.10 in Fedora 21 and EPEL7, they will probably be
released about the same time as jessie (or just a little bit before)

This would make it much easier for users and upstreams to standardize on
asio v1.10 if it is consistent on all Linux platforms

Hi,

automatic installation tests of packages that share a file and at the
same time do not conflict by their package dependency relationships has
detected the following problem:

Selecting previously unselected package libboost-program-options1.54.0:amd64.

This is a serious bug as it makes installation fail, and violates
sections 7.6.1 and 10.1 of the policy. An optimal solution would
consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming
or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the
circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file
diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a
last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual
Conflict. Please take into account that Replaces, Conflicts and
diversions should only be used when packages provide different
implementations for the same functionality.

Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages
(according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be
slightly out of sync):

  /usr/bin/fastasort

This bug has been filed against both packages. If you, the maintainers of
the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will
resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. You may then
also register in the BTS that the other package is affected by the bug.

-Ralf.

of this kind see http://edos.debian.net/file-overwrites/.

Bug#731860: libtar: CVE-2013-4420: directory traversal when extracting archives

2014-02-11 Thread Raphael Geissert
Hi,

On 9 February 2014 22:08, Magnus Holmgren mag...@kibibyte.se wrote:
 The first if should be a while, shouldn't it? Otherwise we'll only skip
 over the first ../ if file_name starts with ../../, if I'm not mistaken.

That's handled by the while loop right after the if. Attached test
case contains an entry called ../../../empty-file
tar tf should print a warning message and list the full path, while
libtar should simply print it as 'empty-file'.

Cheers,

Hi,

 New upstream 1.9.0 release fixes this issue, you can get it from

Bug#735785: ogre-1.8: FTBFS: Could not locate FREETYPE

2014-02-11 Thread Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo
2014-02-11 10:54 GMT+00:00 Hideki Yamane henr...@debian.or.jp:
 Control: tags -1 +fixed-upstream

 Hi,

  New upstream 1.9.0 release fixes this issue, you can get it from
  https://bitbucket.org/sinbad/ogre/downloads

  # However, it's necessary to deal with other issues (not ogre-1.8 but 1.9,
 etc)

There already exists src:ogre-1.9, up to date w.r.t. upstream, and
present in unstable for a few months.

src:ogre-1.8 should be fixed if possible anyway, there are rdepends
which didn't move onto 1.9 (and probably not all of their upstreams
are ready).

Cheers.

Hi Paul,

the files pkg/mflag/* are under BSD-3 license and
contrib/completion/zsh/_docker is BSD (I assume BSD-4, but as the
license text is missing, I don't know).

So please add those to debian/copyright

Thanks!

Bug#738583: libcglib-java - Uses jarjar without proper copyright or Built-Using

2014-02-11 Thread Emmanuel Bourg
I prepared an update of the cglib package on alioth:

- The Built-Using field has been added
- debian/copyright now mentions the inclusion of the asm classes
- the asm license file is now included in cglib-nodep.jar like the jar
distributed by upstream

Tony, could you please upload this update if you think it addresses this
issue properly?

Thank you.

Bug#735785: ogre-1.8: FTBFS: Could not locate FREETYPE

 Hi,

 Manuel A. Fernandez Montecelo manuel.montez...@gmail.com wrote:
 There already exists src:ogre-1.9, up to date w.r.t. upstream, and
 present in unstable for a few months.

  Oops, it's my mistake, investigation is not enough.

 src:ogre-1.8 should be fixed if possible anyway, there are rdepends
 which didn't move onto 1.9 (and probably not all of their upstreams
 are ready).

  Okay, then I've created patch for it, please review and consider to
  apply it :)

Thanks, but there's an upstream patch in ogre-1.9 that fixes this and
supports more versions, so I think that I will include that one.

Cheers.

The current version builds fine with Ruby 1.9, but later upstream
versions successfully produce near-empty packages. See #738635 for
the fix.

 Hi,

 Your package FTBFS when rebuilt against libaubio4 (note, the failure
 may or mayb not be unrelated to changes in libaubio4). The tail of the
 buildd log says:

denemo has been ported to aubio 4 upstream. The upstream repository
contains patches to support both aubio 3 and aubio 4: [1] [2] [3] [4].
Looking at the code of denemo in sid, the patches might need some work
to apply to that version. It's probably less work to upgrade to a new
upstream version and include the patches.

Bug#738579: libsisu-guice-java - $DebuggingClassWriter overrides final method visit

2014-02-11 Thread Eugene Zhukov
The cause of the problem is described here [0].
I tried it out and downgraded asm dependency to 3.3.2 in
d/maven.rules. After reverting
core/src/com/google/inject/internal/util/LineNumbers.java to previous
revision (it seems to be the only class depending on asm-4
functionality), I was able to build both sisu-guice and maven.
Would that kind of solution be acceptable?

Hi Eugene,

I need to take a look at the difference in LineNumbers.java in more
detail, but this sounds like an acceptable solution. Would you have
time to add a patch that reverts LineNumbers.java and update maven.rules
in the master branch?

Thank you,

Bug#738664: initramfs-tools: remove all kernels while purge

Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.115
Severity: critical
Tags: upstream
Justification: breaks the whole system

Dear Maintainer,

When I try to purge iniramfs-tools in jessie/sid, it also removes all installed
kernels without standard warnings (like sysvinit):

---

sudo aptitude purge initramfs-tools
Les paquets suivants seront ENLEVÉS :
  initramfs-tools{p} [0.115]

2) linux-image-686-pae

Accepter cette solution ? [Y/n/q/?] y
Les paquets suivants seront ENLEVÉS :

I think that is very dangerous for simple users - after deleting strange
packages their systems fails to boot.

Bug#738567: uses futimens, which is supported only on linux-any

2014-02-11 Thread David Kalnischkies
Hi,

thanks for the report!

On Mon, Feb 10, 2014 at 06:35:37PM +0100, Petr Salinger wrote:
 The apt 0.9.15.1 started to use futimens instead of previous utime.

 The futimens() is not supported on kfreebsd.

Could this be added to the manpage utimensat(2)? I had looked there and
assumed that by POSIX1.2008 and that it is in glibc it would be safe to
use it as utime replacement…

The suggestion came from cppcheck btw as utime is obsolete, so this might
happen a bit more often in the future if more people follow this advice.
(but only in a very picky cppcheck --enable=all --std=posix call)

Oh, and you don't mention utimensat, but I presume it has the same
problem (coming from the same manpage and all)…

 Please could you switch to futimes() ?
 It seems that the subsecond part is set to zero in all apt cases,
 so there is no difference between nanosecond and microsecond precision at all.

Yes, there is no difference. We have at most seconds precision as this
is done to 'store' the modification time we got from the server.

 The futimes() is currently supported (at least) on linux, kfreebsd, hurd.

It isn't part of any standard though, so I would worry now that we could
run into problems with it as well. I guess I will just opt to revert the
utime change for the moment - its not like we are in a hurry with that,
I was just fixing issues reported by various static analyse tools…
Or maybe utimes: We have the filename around anyway and it will
silence cppcheck (and I don't have to remember to ignore the remark).

Best regards

David Kalnischkies

Package: libxdg-basedir1
Version: 1.1.1-2
Severity: critical
File: libxdg-basedir
Tags: patch upstream

Dear Maintainer,

Any application using xdgDataHome, xdgConfigHome and possibly others
will trigger invalid reads and writes in valgrind. For example the
following code:

const char *xdg_data_home = xdgDataHome(NULL);
printf(%s\n, xdg_data_home);

It triggers:
==14808== Invalid write of size 1
==14808==at 0x4C2D97A: memcpy@GLIBC_2.2.5 (mc_replace_strmem.c:881)
==14808==by 0x4E352A0: xdgGetRelativeHome (basedir.c:577)
==14808==by 0x4006A5: main (in /tmp/a.out)
==14808==  Address 0x53e305b is 0 bytes after a block of size 27 alloc'd
==14808==at 0x4C294A0: malloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:291)
==14808==by 0x4E35278: xdgGetRelativeHome (basedir.c:575)
==14808==by 0x4006A5: main (in /tmp/a.out)
==14808==
==14808== Invalid read of size 1
==14808==at 0x4C2C954: __GI_strlen (mc_replace_strmem.c:405)
==14808==by 0x50A42DB: puts (ioputs.c:36)
==14808==by 0x4006B5: main (in /tmp/a.out)
==14808==  Address 0x53e305b is 0 bytes after a block of size 27 alloc'd

==14808==by 0x4006A5: main (in /tmp/a.out)
==14808==

The solution is simple: add a +1 to the malloc in line 575 of basedir.c.
This as it uses the +1 on line 577 when limiting the amount of data that
is to be copied.

Attached are:
 * a full test case
 * full result of valgrind before patching the library
 * the patch for the library
 * full result of valgrind after patching the library

I'm in doubt whether this is really this critical or not; I could
imagine ways that, under certain circumstances, it is possible to crash
users of this library. Especially when this allocation happens at the
end of a page, and the next page isn't valid. Then writing the last
byte/character could trigger a segmentation fault. Furthermore, the last
byte could corrupt the memory management pointers at the begin of
allocations causing malloc and/or free to crash, as well as malloc/free
overwriting the last byte and the string then becoming longer due to the
missing '\0' termination causing applications to crash when e.g. strdup
allocates the memory based on strlen before allocation, then allocates
and corrupts the string, and finally memcpy-ing but not '\0' terminating
the duplicated string. These are all hypothetical though.

Regards,
Remko Bijker

 classpath conflicts between different versions of asm.

Have you talked to the security team about this? Where does Debian ship
different versions of asm?

Continuing the saga of can we make GLib 2.38 build on all architectures?:

gdbus-close-pending.c is a regression test for GNOME bug 651268, which was that
close() in the main thread raced with write() or flush() in the GDBus thread.
However, it appears to have its own race condition, so far seen once, on a mips
autobuilder:

FAIL: gdbus-close-pending
=
# random seed: R02Sc2942a140521364046646a1a66f824a9
# Start of gdbus tests
**

#
GLib-GIO:ERROR:/«PKGBUILDDIR»/./gio/tests/gdbus-close-pending.c:353:test_once:
assertion failed (f-error == NULL): Stream has outstanding operation
(g-io-error-quark, 20)
Aborted

This means that the g_dbus_connection_close_sync() failed with that error.

I thought this was a simple case of the main thread might race with the GDBus
thread, but on closer inspection of how I fixed Bug #651268, all the actual
I/O should be happening in the GDBus thread now; so I don't actually know how
this situation can arise. Any ideas?

I'm also very tempted to force the regression tests to run with make -j1
so they're less likely to hit obscure race conditions on our slower
architectures. At the moment, the mips buildd is using make -j2.
Fixing test cases that have race conditions is A Good Thing, but
so is unblocking GNOME 3.10.

Source: flightgear
Version: 2.6.0-1
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past)

Hi,

since 2.6.0-1, flightgear cannot be built on non-Linux archs because
of the libudev-dev B-D (which is Linux-specific).

The attached patch limits the libudev-dev B-D as linux-any, adding also
libusbhid-dev as kfreebsd-specific B-D (for joystick stuff on
(k)FreeBSD). This allows to build flightgear on kfreebsd.

Thanks,

 flightgear (3.0.0~git20140204+c99ea4-1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   [ Markus Wanner ]
   * Upload to unstable.
   * Adjust B-D to allow building on kfreebsd-*. Closes: #724686.
   * Add a lintian-overrides on autotools; we use cmake.
   * Upstream corrected the fgfs manpage. Closes: #556362.
   * Drop unnecessary man page for gl-info. Closes: #698308.
   * Drop README.Linux: it's outdated to the point of uselessness.
 Closes: #574173.
   * Add an upper limit of libsimgear-dev versions that flightgear can be
 built with. Closes: #738436.
   * Drop the libsvn-dev dependency, neither flightgear nor simgear depend
 on libsvn, anymore. Closes: #682947.
   * List icons in debian/install rather than copying around from rules.
   * Update menu entry for flightgear, add one for fgcom; add .xpm icons.
 Closes: #713924.
   * flightgear.desktop: add German translation
   * Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.5; no changes needed.
 .
   [ Rebecca Palmer ]
   * New upstream release.
   * Install the icons (based on code by Saikrishna Arcot). (Not a
 complete fix for LP908153 as it only sets the menu/Dash icon, not the
 running window's icon, but better than nothing).
   * Disable screensaver while running. Closes: LP#793599. Add required
 libdbus-1-dev dependency.
   * Remove outdated README.Debian.
   * Terrasync now works after just ticking the box. Closes: #252899.
   * Always set Terrasync directory.

Hi,

a test with piuparts revealed that your package uses files from
/usr/share/doc in its maintainer scripts which is a violation of
Policy 12.3: Packages must not require the existence of any files in
/usr/share/doc/ in order to function.
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s12.3

These files must be moved to /usr/share/$PACKAGE and may be symlinked
from /usr/share/doc/$PACKAGE.

This piuparts test prevents the installation of (most) files into
/usr/share/doc with 'dpkg --path-exclude=...'.

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):

  Selecting previously unselected package xmail.

When I try to purge iniramfs-tools in jessie/sid, it also removes all installed

I think that is very dangerous for simple users - after deleting strange
packages their systems fails to boot.

Best regards,

Bug#738583: libcglib-java - Uses jarjar without proper copyright or Built-Using

2014-02-11 Thread Emmanuel Bourg
Le 11/02/2014 21:22, Bastian Blank a écrit :

 Have you talked to the security team about this? Where does Debian ship
 different versions of asm?

Debian has four versions of asm. Each version is incompatible with the
previous one, and they share the same namespace (org.objectweb.asm.*).
That means two versions can't coexist safely in the same classpath, this
is guaranteed to break at runtime. That's why widely used libraries like
cglib relocate the asm classes under a different namespace to avoid
conflicts (net.sf.cglib.asm.*).

I'm not sure to see why the security team would care about this though.

Please, if anyhow possible, fix schleuder so it no longer depends on

As this fixes an RC bug which has shown no activity for more than
three weeks, I'm going to upload right away.

Hi Emmanuel,

The attribution looks appropriate to me. I changed the version number
to we're not uploading a new upstream source version just to switch to
XZ compression. That'll take effect with the next upstream upload (or
repack, if that ends up being necessary).

Thank you for the update! Uploaded.

Actually I changed the upstream tarball because it was missing the asm
license in the lib directory. That's why I incremented the upstream part
of the version.

libsisu-guice-java incorporates external binaries (libcglib-java for

means the copyright file in the resulting binary is wrong, it does not
list the incorporated stuff.

Bug#738583: libcglib-java - Uses jarjar without proper copyright or Built-Using

 The attribution looks appropriate to me. I changed the version number
 to we're not uploading a new upstream source version just to switch to
 XZ compression. That'll take effect with the next upstream upload (or
 repack, if that ends up being necessary).

 Actually I changed the upstream tarball because it was missing the asm
 license in the lib directory. That's why I incremented the upstream part
 of the version.

Okay, I missed that. I have to re-upload anyway, since the Built-Using
field must specify the source package - that is, asm3 and not
libasm3-java. I'll use the repackaged source tarball for that.

Thank you,
tony

libcglib-java uses jarjar to incoporate libasm3-java. It does this
without mentioning the license of the incorporated stuff or even listing
it as Built-Using.
