Bug#738613: needs co-ordination with users
Package: libasio-dev Severity: serious Version: 1.10-1 This package is a build dependency for other packages and they are all likely to break with this new version Lets get a list of impacted packages and co-ordinate with maintainers The only package I know of personally is resiprocate -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#738613: Fedora / EPEL
reSIProcate is also targetting Fedora and EPEL6. They are both carrying asio 1.4.x now We may need to contact the Fedora maintainer of asio-devel about whether he will include 1.10 in Fedora 21 and EPEL7, they will probably be released about the same time as jessie (or just a little bit before) This would make it much easier for users and upstreams to standardize on asio v1.10 if it is consistent on all Linux platforms -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. An optimal solution would consist in only one of the packages installing that file, and renaming or removing the file in the other package. Depending on the circumstances you might also consider Replace relations or file diversions. If the conflicting situation cannot be resolved then, as a last resort, the two packages have to declare a mutual Conflict. Here is a list of files that are known to be shared by both packages (according to the Contents file for sid/amd64, which may be slightly out of sync): /usr/bin/fastasort This bug has been filed against both packages. If you, the maintainers of the two packages in question, have agreed on which of the packages will resolve the problem please reassign the bug to that package. Bug#738627: missing copyright in debian/copyright
Package: docker.io Severity: serious User: alteh...@debian.org Usertags: ftp X-Debbugs-CC: ftpmas...@ftp-master.debian.org thanks Hi Paul, the files pkg/mflag/* are under BSD-3 license and contrib/completion/zsh/_docker is BSD (I assume BSD-4, but as the license text is missing, I don't know). So please add those to debian/copyright Thanks! Thorsten -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#738583: libcglib-java - Uses jarjar without proper copyright or Built-Using
I prepared an update of the cglib package on alioth: - The Built-Using field has been added - debian/copyright now mentions the inclusion of the asm classes - the asm license file is now included in cglib-nodep.jar like the jar distributed by upstream Tony, could you please upload this update if you think it addresses this issue properly? Bug#738567: uses futimens, which is supported only on linux-any
Hi, thanks for the report! On Mon, Feb 10, 2014 at 06:35:37PM +0100, Petr Salinger wrote: The apt 0.9.15.1 started to use futimens instead of previous utime. The futimens() is not supported on kfreebsd. Could this be added to the manpage utimensat(2)? I had looked there and assumed that by POSIX1.2008 and that it is in glibc it would be safe to use it as utime replacement… The suggestion came from cppcheck btw as utime is obsolete, so this might happen a bit more often in the future if more people follow this advice. (but only in a very picky cppcheck --enable=all --std=posix call) Oh, and you don't mention utimensat, but I presume it has the same problem (coming from the same manpage and all)… Please could you switch to futimes() ? It seems that the subsecond part is set to zero in all apt cases, so there is no difference between nanosecond and microsecond precision at all. Yes, there is no difference. We have at most seconds precision as this is done to 'store' the modification time we got from the server. The futimes() is currently supported (at least) on linux, kfreebsd, hurd. It isn't part of any standard though, so I would worry now that we could run into problems with it as well. I guess I will just opt to revert the utime change for the moment - its not like we are in a hurry with that, I was just fixing issues reported by various static analyse tools… Or maybe utimes: We have the filename around anyway and it will silence cppcheck (and I don't have to remember to ignore the remark). This as it uses the +1 on line 577 when limiting the amount of data that is to be copied. Attached are: * a full test case * full result of valgrind before patching the library * the patch for the library * full result of valgrind after patching the library I'm in doubt whether this is really this critical or not; I could imagine ways that, under certain circumstances, it is possible to crash users of this library. Especially when this allocation happens at the end of a page, and the next page isn't valid. Then writing the last byte/character could trigger a segmentation fault. Furthermore, the last byte could corrupt the memory management pointers at the begin of allocations causing malloc and/or free to crash, as well as malloc/free overwriting the last byte and the string then becoming longer due to the missing '\0' termination causing applications to crash when e.g. strdup allocates the memory based on strlen before allocation, then allocates and corrupts the string, and finally memcpy-ing but not '\0' terminating the duplicated string. These are all hypothetical though. However, it appears to have its own race condition, so far seen once, on a mips autobuilder: FAIL: gdbus-close-pending = # random seed: R02Sc2942a140521364046646a1a66f824a9 # Start of gdbus tests ** GLib-GIO:ERROR:/«PKGBUILDDIR»/./gio/tests/gdbus-close-pending.c:353:test_once: assertion failed (f-error == NULL): Stream has outstanding operation (g-io-error-quark, 20) # GLib-GIO:ERROR:/«PKGBUILDDIR»/./gio/tests/gdbus-close-pending.c:353:test_once: assertion failed (f-error == NULL): Stream has outstanding operation (g-io-error-quark, 20) Aborted This means that the g_dbus_connection_close_sync() failed with that error. I thought this was a simple case of the main thread might race with the GDBus thread, but on closer inspection of how I fixed Bug #651268, all the actual I/O should be happening in the GDBus thread now; so I don't actually know how this situation can arise. Any ideas? I'm also very tempted to force the regression tests to run with make -j1 so they're less likely to hit obscure race conditions on our slower architectures. At the moment, the mips buildd is using make -j2. Fixing test cases that have race conditions is A Good Thing, but so is unblocking GNOME 3.10. Bug#738583: libcglib-java - Uses jarjar without proper copyright or Built-Using
Le 11/02/2014 21:22, Bastian Blank a écrit : Have you talked to the security team about this? Where does Debian ship different versions of asm? Debian has four versions of asm. Each version is incompatible with the previous one, and they share the same namespace (org.objectweb.asm.*). That means two versions can't coexist safely in the same classpath, this is guaranteed to break at runtime. That's why widely used libraries like cglib relocate the asm classes under a different namespace to avoid conflicts (net.sf.cglib.asm.*). I'm not sure to see why the security team would care about this though. Emmanuel Bourg -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
