Bug#559110: nws: should this package be removed?

2009-12-02 Thread Martin Quinson
Hello,

I just contacted upstream to check what their plan about this are. My
opinion is that if they do not update it upstream, it should be removed.
That would be a pity because there is no direct replacement, but anyway.

Bye, Mt.

Bug#559110: nws: should this package be removed?

2009-12-01 Thread Simon McVittie
Package: nws
Version: 2.13-6.1
Severity: serious
Justification: RC-buggy, extremely low popcon, no releases since 2005
User: debian...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: proposed-removal

nws seems like a possible candidate for removal from Debian:

* RC-buggy (runs init script without going via invoke-rc.d)
* extremely low popcon (3)
* no upstream release since 2005
* contains a mis-packaged static library which should be in the -dev package
  (I won't bother filing a separate bug for this)

If you want to keep this package around in Debian, please just close this bug,
and do an upload to fix the issues in it.

If you don't think it's worth keeping, please send the following commands
to cont...@bugs.debian.org, replacing nn with this bug's number:

severity nn normal
reassign nn ftp.debian.org
retitle nn RM:  -- RoM;
thanks
