I know update does not work in aptitude. I wasn't aware of other
breakage. Can you provide some sort of log? This is a duplicate of
 533746, merging.

No log now, because now after calling
/usr/share/ia32-apt-get/convert-all-sources.list I even get:
mithrandir:~# aptitude
Ouch! Got SIGSEGV, dying..
Segmentation fault
mithrandir:~#

Simple gdb-ing gave me:
Program received signal SIGSEFC, Segmentation fault.
[Switching to Thread =x7fcf06fe7710 (LWP 8165)]
0x7fcf06b60455 in DynamicMMap::WriteString ()
   from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.9-6.so.4.7

It is getting worse.

As mentioned in NEWS and as of version 19 also in README.Debian for
the time being you need to run
   /usr/share/ia32-apt-get/convert-all-sources.list
 when you change your sources.list.

Yes but since that packages is *pulled*in* automatically how should
anyone know about it??? I wasn't even aware that there is some magic
going on.

  - calling apt-get update from the command line (recommended in another
bug report) finishes in a core dump
/usr/bin/apt-get: line 46: 30757 Segmentation fault apt-get.real
  --no-list-cleanup --no-download update

One other user managed to produce that on irc today. I can't reproduce
it and the user purged and reinstalled ia32-apt-get, thereby solving
the problem for some reason, before I could ask him to send a tar of:
   /etc/apt
   /var/lib/apt
   /var/cache/apt (without archives/)

70M, I will try to upload from the slow link I have here. Should I put
them on a web space or send by email to your personally?.

I don't know what causes this but something is triggering a bug in
the real apt-get. Best guess apt-get manages to break its *.bin cache
files. Maybe when it complains about the APT::Cache-Limit being too
small. Did you have to increase APT::Cache-Limit just before you got
 the Segmentation fault?

No, I didn't change anything in the cache or apt at all.

 1) You do not just get i386 packages instead of native ones in
general. But you can on rare occasions and only in
unstable/experimental when i386 has a newer version than amd64. The
pining is only needed to prevent even those rare occasions.

Ah ok, that is already much better.

 2) There is also nothing I can do about this automatically as policy
forbids ia32-apt-get from changing /etc/apt/preferences, a conffile of
another package. Wether this can be improved upon depends on the apt
maintainer, for example they could add a /etc/apt/preferences.d/
directory like there is apt-conf.d/ and sources.list.d/.

Agreed, that would be a decent solution.

 3) You do have installed ia32-libs. As such you have selected to
install i386 debs on your system. ia32-apt-get extends that somewhat
and changes the way the debs are fetched but you already did choose to
install i386 debs when you selected ia32-libs however long ago that
 was.

Yes, but I didn't select that it should change the way I use apt-get!

 4) Unstable is as unstable says!
You get to keep the pices.

;-) I know.

This is a new software that only a few people (74 acording to popcon)
have used so far. There are bound to be bugs and there are bound to be
missing features. Software isn't born perfect.

between perfect and ready for unstable there is experimental. And it is
there where one should clean out the most horrible bugs.

Best wishes

anyone finding this note that cups is currently stuck in sid
apparently waiting on the krb5 transition (which seems to be waiting
on some of the architectures other than i386/amd64).

Above is a bug in cups (or the helper packages more directly depending
on raster filters.  The maintainer of cups is fully aware of the need
for the new ghostscript-cups package, as that maintainer reqested that
 very change.

Right, and the new version of cups does, indeed, have a recommends on
ghostscript-cups. So that part of the equation is taken care of in the
sid version of cups. The question I have (which cannot be fixed in
cups itself) is should the dependency on cups within ghostcript-cups
have a version attached to it? ghostscript-cups needs cups in order to
function. Fine, that's why it has the dependency. But will it function
with any version? Or does it need the version that's currently in sid?
If it needs the version currently in sid then the dependency on cups
should be versioned. That's all.

This isn't a huge deal since once cups itself finally moves down to
testing it will self-correct. But in the meantime it will be
problematic.

Someone upgrading ghostscript will have no way of knowing that the new
ghostscript-cups package exists (which was why I suggested a suggests
dependency). Someone that finds the new package won't be aware that
they need the version of cups in sid rather then the version they
already have installed (assuming they run testing. If they run pure
sid they're already in synch). Since ghostscript-cups obviously
depends on cups (as the dependency correctly states) I just feel that
it should version the already existing dependency to indicate it won't
work with the version of cups it finds in testing. The version found
in sid appears to work just fine - so no bug in that version of cups.

Ghostscript itself should possibly have a recommends, or at least a
suggests, on ghostcript-cups.

No: Ghostscript benefits in no way from the contents of
 ghostscript-cups.

But the contents of said package were, prior to this point, part of
ghostcript itself. So in a twisted sort of way you're stating that
ghostscript doesn't benefit from itself :)

I will now close this as it is not a bug in ghostscript.

OK - can you reassign to ghostcript-cups? :)

Kind regards, and thanks for your report, anyway :-)

You're welcome. At least if anyone runs across the problem and finds
this bug listing they should be able to figure out what to do. (Which
is the biggest reason I'm doing this). Hopefully the cups version in
sid will make it down to testing sooner rather than later, which will
make this discussion pretty much moot.

Can you explain why you think phpMyAdmin in Lenny is still vulnerable to this

I know update does not work in aptitude. I wasn't aware of other
breakage. Can you provide some sort of log? This is a duplicate of
 533746, merging.

No log now, because now after calling
 /usr/share/ia32-apt-get/convert-all-sources.list I even get:
 mithrandir:~# aptitude
 Ouch! Got SIGSEGV, dying..
 Segmentation fault
 mithrandir:~#

 Simple gdb-ing gave me:
Program received signal SIGSEFC, Segmentation fault.
[Switching to Thread =x7fcf06fe7710 (LWP 8165)]
 0x7fcf06b60455 in DynamicMMap::WriteString ()
from /usr/lib/libapt-pkg-libc6.9-6.so.4.7

 It is getting worse.

That will be the same issue apt-get has. They both use libapt after
all.

As mentioned in NEWS and as of version 19 also in README.Debian for
the time being you need to run
   /usr/share/ia32-apt-get/convert-all-sources.list
 when you change your sources.list.

Yes but since that packages is *pulled*in* automatically how should
anyone know about it??? I wasn't even aware that there is some magic
 going on.

Ideally you shouldn't be aware of it at all. On install the
sources.list are converted automatically once and the plan is to
automatically update the converted list when needed. I just haven't
had time to write the code for that yet.

  - calling apt-get update from the command line (recommended in another
bug report) finishes in a core dump
/usr/bin/apt-get: line 46: 30757 Segmentation fault apt-get.real
  --no-list-cleanup --no-download update

One other user managed to produce that on irc today. I can't reproduce
it and the user purged and reinstalled ia32-apt-get, thereby solving
the problem for some reason, before I could ask him to send a tar of:
   /etc/apt
   /var/lib/apt
   /var/cache/apt (without archives/)

70M, I will try to upload from the slow link I have here. Should I put
them on a web space or send by email to your personally?.

Webspace is probably best. Not sure how soon such a large mail would
get killed in my mail chain. But I highly doubt it would survive.

Once you have a tar of them try if
  rm /var/cache/apt/*.bin /var/cache/apt/*/*.bin
solves the problem.

Odd. I have sid and experimental in my sources.list and run out of
space with the default size. Maybe it is experimental that pushes apt
over the top.

 Best wishes

 Norbert

Bug#535035: [Pkg-ia32-libs-maintainers] Bug#535035: ia32-apt-get tries to overwrite /usr/bin/apt-get

2009-06-29 Thread Goswin von Brederlow
Iacopo Spalletti segnalazi...@nephila.it writes:

 Package: ia32-apt-get
 Version: 18
 Severity: grave
 Justification: renders package unusable

I cannot install ia32-apt-get due to the following error
 Preparing to replace ia32-apt-get 18 (using .../ia32-apt-get_18_all.deb) ...
 Unpacking replacement ia32-apt-get ...

 Errors were encountered while processing:
  /var/cache/apt/archives/ia32-apt-get_18_all.deb

Fixed in 19. Diversions are created even on update if missing.

Package cannot be removed because prerm tries to cancel diversions that don't
 exist

 Removing ia32-apt-get ...
No diversion `diversion of /usr/bin/apt-get to /usr/bin/apt-get.real by

 No such file or directory
 dpkg: error processing ia32-apt-get (--purge):
subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 1
 Errors were encountered while processing:
  ia32-apt-get

Also fixed in 19. The attempt to remove the diversions actualy is not
the problem. The rm is. If you touch
/usr/share/ia32-apt-get/dists/transitional/Release.gpg
you should be able to purge ia32-apt-get and then reinstall.

As a matter of interest why did you cancel the initial install of
ia32-apt-get half way through? This only happens when you stop it at a
bad place.

 lifting the Cache-Size fixed that.

Good to know. But that certainly should not end in a SIGSEGV. It
indicates that the size check for the cache somehow does not detect an
overflow.

Is it needed in the light of the fact that increasing the cache size did

Bug#534944: grub-pc: commented out #TARGET_CFLAGS += -DGRUB_ASSUME_LINUX_HAS_FB_SUPPORT=1

2009-06-29 Thread Arthur Marsh
Package: grub-pc
Version: 1.96+20090628-1
Severity: normal

I did:

apt-get source grub

then edited debian/rules to comment out

#TARGET_CFLAGS += -DGRUB_ASSUME_LINUX_HAS_FB_SUPPORT=1

and built the code using debuild -b

in /etc/default/grub, I commented out:

#GRUB_TERMINAL=console

then ran update grub.

I still have problems that once the graphical login on vt7 loads, I get
dark screens on vt1..vt6.

Actually, this happens to be caused by a different problem than what
happened before 1.0.7+dfsg-1, since the configuration is now handled
differently in the postinst (by ucf, etc.)

Still, the problem is now back (since circa 1.1.2+dfsg-1, apparently).

On 1.1.8+dfsg-1, I get this too upon fresh install :
# ls -ld /etc/mantis/

Bug#534799: Dependency issues?

On Mon, Jun 29, 2009 at 04:19:50AM -0400, Jan Muszynski wrote:
The question I have (which cannot be fixed in cups itself) is should
the dependency on cups within ghostcript-cups have a version attached
to it? ghostscript-cups needs cups in order to function. Fine, that's
why it has the dependency. But will it function with any version? Or
does it need the version that's currently in sid? If it needs the
version currently in sid then the dependency on cups should be
versioned. That's all.

ghostscript-cups do *not* need cups to function. If it did, it should
depend on, not just recommend, cups.

ghostscript-cups has little _use_ without cups, which is the reason it
recommends cups.

This isn't a huge deal since once cups itself finally moves down to
testing it will self-correct. But in the meantime it will be
problematic.

No changes to ghostscript-cups could solve the current temporary
confusion.

These changes could have avoided the confusion (but that's too late now,
I guess):

* NEWS entry in cups warning about the new recommendation
* ghostscript-cups dependency in cups-driver-gutenprint and similar
  raster drivers

I believe it works fine with cups - either the sid or the Lenny release.
What does not work is package dependency resolving. It does not make
sense to me to add Breaks: hint to other packages for broken
dependencies only - installing ghostscript-cups does _not_ break cups.

Fair enough: merging with existing bug in cups, then :-P

Is it needed in the light of the fact that increasing the cache size did

I would still like to find the bug in libapt that causes the segfault.

Can you explain why you think phpMyAdmin in Lenny is still vulnerable to this
 issue?

phpMyAdmin is not vulnerable, but exploited config file is still there

Right, but the reporter is basing his report on the presence of log lines
trying to exploit the original issue. Which should not be possible anymore.

Ah right. I don't think there's a way we can realistically do anything about
an already-compromised installation. That is a general truth for any
vulnerability: how can we know to what extent the attacker has influenced the
system?

We could release a fix of config.inc.php which rejects requests specific to
the worm that was released. But this is an incomplete fix necessarily.
Wouldn't that bring a false sense of security?

Well most problems come from the fact, that setup script is not
protected, when user does not use our config snippets for webserver
(otherwise the setup script would be password protected and it would
not be an issue). In this case we can try to check for some things
(like usage of system()), but you're right, this would be incomplete
fix.

Anyway we should somehow protect against such situations (unprotected
setup script which can change configuration). Maybe making
/var/lib/phpmyadmin/config.inc.php writable for www-data only if user
has enabled our snippets through debconf?

After installing dropbear my system refused to boot. I use cryptroot,
and instead of the usual cryptsetup password prompt, it prints a
message about starting dropbear and then stuck. (I didn't try logging
in remotely to provide the password, I need to boot locally.)

Bug#534944: grub-pc: text mode virtual terminals blank

2009-06-29 Thread Robert Millan

Hi,

Since I'm unable to reproduce this, I will need some help. I need you to
boot a modified Linux image with the linux16 loader, e.g.:

  linux16 /boot/bzImage
  boot

and then tell me the output (if you're using the older version of GRUB,
linux16 won't be present, in that case use linux instead).

You might be able to get it through a serial port with console=ttyS0
parameter, but I'm not sure if that will work at this point in the boot
process. Otherwise, use pencil and paper!

The patch you need to apply to Linux is attached. If it's more practical
to you, you can use this prebuilt image instead:

  http://people.debian.org/~rmh/bzImage

which is gpg-signed:

  http://people.debian.org/~rmh/bzImage.sig

Bug#492978: ia32-apt-get upgrade dropped lines from source.list

2009-06-29 Thread Lionel Elie Mamane
Package: ia32-apt-get
Version: 18
Severity: normal

Not sure if it is the same bug, but for me it *dropped* a line and
added lines that were not there. My source.list was (taken from a
backup in the night):

I have no idea where these native and foreign files come from, I
just edited sources.list, removed all ia32-apt-get lines (they were
giving me too much trouble and grey hair) and switched to squeeze when
lenny became stable.

And now it is:

This means one of the sub apt-gets returned error 100. Usualy one of
the index files failed to download or the signature check. The error
will be earlier then what you pasted. The Ignoring part just means
that there where no changes to download, not that apt-get is actually
ignoring that file.

Bug#492978: [Pkg-ia32-libs-maintainers] Bug#492978: ia32-apt-get upgrade dropped lines from source.list

Not sure if it is the same bug, but for me it *dropped* a line and

 deb http://security.eu.debian.org/ lenny/updates main
 deb-src http://security.eu.debian.org/ lenny/updates main

I have no idea where these native and foreign files come from, I
just edited sources.list, removed all ia32-apt-get lines (they were
giving me too much trouble and grey hair) and switched to squeeze when
 lenny became stable.

That comes from the ia32-apt-get prior to version 15, which was in
violation of policy by modifying the sources.list directly. Version 15
introduced a new way that leaves all conffiles as they are and only
creates new ones with a clear prefix to avoid name clashes. Updating
from = 14 undoes the modifications to sources.list by restoring the
original file.

So that is what you are seeing. See
/usr/share/doc/ia32-apt-get/NEWS.Debian.gz for a description of how it
works now.

Bug#535092: iceweasel fails to start on sparc, bus error

2009-06-29 Thread Aleksi Suhonen
Package: iceweasel
Version: 3.0.11-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

iceweasel fails completely to start on sparc. An identical installation
on i386 works just fine. I made a new clean debian installation using
the newest unstable netboot installation image I could find to test this
in case my pre-lenny-unstable environment was somehow broken, but the
clean debian/unstable (this host) exhibits the same problem.

I don't have any plugins or similar installed, because I can't start the
browser to be able to add them.

iceweasel-dbg doesn't reveal much:

Dear maintainers,

I am missing the script openvas-nvt-sync in this package, although it is
in the source package.

Without this script it is not possible, to upgrade the needed plugins for
openvas-server (openvasd). But missing or old plugins mean:

1. A system cannot be secured, as wholes are not recognized (security
problem)

2. This package is not correct functioning.

3. Any server tested with this package cannot be trusted.

Hint: The latest source-version did build very well on my amd64-system. So i
suggest to upgrade to the latest version.

Bug#534944: grub-pc: text mode virtual terminals blank

2009-06-29 Thread Robert Millan

Hi again,

I'm uploading 1.96+20090629-1, which includes some cleanup in the Linux
loader. It's possible your problem might disappear with this version,
please report.

Note: Try it in text mode first (run terminal_output console in GRUB
prompt). If that _does_ work, try from gfxterm then.

Note2: If you can't wait, the patch you want is:
  svn diff -r 2372:2375 svn://svn.savannah.gnu.org/grub/trunk/grub2

Thanks!

That would be enough, but there are so many other problems with the

fixing until the other issues are resolved.

Bug#527739: 'Uncaught exception:' on aptitude startup

2009-06-29 Thread andy
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.5.2.1-1
Severity: normal

i started receiving this error when attempting to launch aptitude:
Uncaught exception: ./generic/problemresolver/choice.h:294: const typename
PackageUniverse::version generic_choicePackageUniverse::get_ver() const
[with PackageUniverse = aptitude_universe]: Assertion tp == install_version
failed.

i can toggle this behavior by adding the suggested lines from
/usr/share/doc/ia32-apt-get/NEWS.Debian.gz to /etc/apt/preferences. with those
lines aptitude crashes on startup. without them it will start.

i have attached my /etc/apt/preferences and output from `apt-cache policy`.

thank you!

Sorry about this. I have sent an email to the upstream author asking

Umh, I have noticed no breakage here, and I am using 0.8-2. In fact,
many of the cases presented by the submitter appear different here:

First problem, where an extra / appeared, does not happen here:

$ ruby -e require 'hpricot'; print Hpricot.XML('/')
/
$ ruby -e require 'hpricot'; print Hpricot.XML('/')
/

Handling malformed XML behaves as reported - I don't know whether to
consider a bug misparsing what cannot be parsed, though:

$ ruby -e require 'hpricot'; print Hpricot.XML('a/b')
a/b/a
$ ruby -e require 'hpricot'; print Hpricot.XML('ab')
ab/a

This appears to work fine:

$ ruby -e require 'hpricot'; print
Hpricot.XML('/').search('/')
/
$ ruby -e require 'hpricot'; print
Hpricot.XML('/').search('//')

The nesting is not broken here:

$ ruby -e require 'hpricot'; print Hpricot.XML('a/b/b/a')
a/b/b/a
$ ruby -e require 'hpricot'; print
Hpricot.XML('a/b/b/a').search('/a/b')
b/b
$ ruby -e require 'hpricot'; print
Hpricot.XML('a/b/b/a').search('/a//b')

This last case behaves as reported:

$ ruby -e require 'hpricot'; print Hpricot.XML('a/b')
a/b/a

But, again, if the input is invalid, I cannot expect the output to
make sense.

Bug#535099: Please drop zephyr-server-krb for real

2009-06-29 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Package: zephyr
Version: 3.0~beta.2483-2
Severity: serious
Justification: Advertises more packages than actually built.

Hi,

after wondering for a while why zephyr's status is the following[1], it
turned out that as I suspected, it dropped one of its binary packages
(zephyr-server-krb), which blocks its migration.

 1. http://qa.debian.org/excuses.php?package=zephyr

That's not actually very true: this package is still mentioned in
debian/control, but isn't built anymore, because of the following in
debian/rules:
| VARIETALS=krb5
| PACKAGES:=-plibzephyr4 -pzephyr-clients -pzephyr-server -plibzephyr-dev
$(foreach i,$(VARIETALS),-plibzephyr4-$(i) -pzephyr-server-$(i))
| …
| dh_gencontrol $(PACKAGES)

So, either you dropped the package on purpose, and it shall disappear
from your debian/control, and you should ask for the removal of the
ancient zephyr-server-krb binaries as explained in [2], or there was
some mistake and that package should still be built. I suspect the
former, hence this bugreport with that subject.

 2. http://wiki.debian.org/ftpmaster_Removals

Mraw,
KiBi.

Hi,

adding the --force switch unconditional is a bad idea,
as it means overriding local settings if the admin eventually changed
the values set with dpkg-statoverride..
So we should eventually add more checks..

Bug#535092: iceweasel fails to start on sparc, bus error

iceweasel fails completely to start on sparc.

First sorry for my English.

If gksu(do) fails execute command and sometimes if executed command fails, this
is printed to stdout:
*** glibc detected *** gksu: double free or corruption (fasttop): 0x0901c278 ***
and gksu(do) will stop and never finish. This makes many scripts that are using
gksu(do) non-functional.

The patch that works for me is added.

Cheers,
Petr

Hi.

Exactly the same problem here. I'm on AMD64 too, maybe that's the
problem. I don't know if I can continue to use it or it will definitely
destroy my notes.

Bug#535120: hk-classes FTBFS with python2.6

2009-06-29 Thread Fabrice Coutadeur
Package: hk-classes
Version: 0.8.3-5
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: no longer builds from source
User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com

In Ubuntu, python2.6 is the default python version, and this package has
to be adapted to build properly. Here is the patch for that

*** /tmp/tmpO_WB5c
In Ubuntu, we've applied the attached patch to achieve the following:

  * debian/patches/python2.6.patch: patch python/Makefile.in to add parameter
--install-layout=deb to setup.py install call (LP: #392390)

We thought you might be interested in doing the same.

I've upgraded a few minutes ago and the bug still exists, with python2.4
and python2.5.

Just to make sure I've got the right version (no, that's no mix with 3rd
party repositories or so :-), but just in case) here are the md5sums:

171c92192a3f40d4027692847a144385 /usr/share/python-support/python-otr/otr.py

That's with version 0.2.1-1. No idea what's the problem, though, I'm not
that deep in SWIG ;-)

Hi,

First of all, if you're using 0.5.1 I suggest you make a backup of your
note directory (~/.gnote).

I would need some way to reproduce this problem. Try the following:

  - Rename your ~/.gnote.
  - Run gnote, it will create a new ~/.gnote.
  - Copy one of the offending notes (*.note files) to the new ~/.gnote
BEFORE it got corrupted.
  - Verify its current state. If the note has now been corrupted,
send me a copy of the old note (prior to corruption).

Btw, which version of gnote are you using?

Bug#533361: [grahn: Henning's patch tested, and kind of working]

2009-06-29 Thread Henning Makholm
Scripsit Jörgen Grahn

Just in case you too do not get mail notifications whenever a Debian
bug gets updated. I wrote this:

Oops, thanks for the heads-up. I meant to subscribe to the PTS for
xcftools, but never got it done after I resigned as a Debian dev a
couple of months ago.

Henning, sorry for not replying earlier -- I somehow believed the BTS
would Cc: me on everything, and didn't check the web interface until
 today.

I thought that too -- otherwise I'd have Cc'ed you directly.

However, the resulting image still looks strange.
...
What L2.png actually contains is the 10x10 canvas-visible part and
everything to the south and east of that. The rest is clipped, i.e.
 filled -b white.

Yes, this is a bug. There were a few more places where I had stored
canvas-based coordinates in unsigned variables. Embarassing.

The attached patch ought to fix fixed all known cases. It is based on
the clean 1.0.4 source.

I don't think any of the newly fixed places are security
relevant. They just cause parts of the source image to be ignored, or
in certain cases wrong pixels to be read. So if someone does a
security upload to lenny, the previous patch is probably the least
invasive one to use.

I plan to release 1.0.5 with the fixes Thursday or Friday -- other
stuff gets in the way until then.

Also, for me personally, this doesn't matter because now that xcf2pnm
no longer crashes, I can see that I do not want the -C effect. I want
my layers clipped to the canvas, just like xcf2pnm does by default.

I will try to think of improvements to the wording of the manpage such
that others will not be similarly confused. Suggestions welcome.

Package: fglrx-atieventsd
Version: 1:9-6-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Installation/upgrade of fglrx-atieventsd fails, because of (aptitude output):

Setting up fglrx-atieventsd (1:9-6-1) ...

Installing new version of config file /etc/init.d/fglrx-driver ...

Could not read file /etc/default/fglrx-atieventsd

invoke-rc.d: initscript fglrx-driver, action start failed.

dpkg: error processing fglrx-atieventsd (--configure):

subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

/etc/init.d/fglrx-driver attempts to call /etc/default/fglrx-atieventsd and
fails in its absense.
Inspecting the packages fglrx-driver and fglrx-atieventsd shows that this file
is
indeed not present in either package. I suspect /etc/default/fglrx-driver was
renamed to /etc/default/fglrx-atieventsd?

Exactly the same problem here. I'm on AMD64 too, maybe that's the

destroy my notes.

I'm using version 0.5.1 and the previous version still in my apt cache
is 0.4.0. I don't have any backups, but I've tried downgrading to 0.4.0,
I've edited a new note and then upgrading again to 0.5.1 is working fine
with this note.

I had a note that hadn't been modified since june 8th, I've opened it
with 0.5.1 and it got corrupted immediately. I'm sending you this note
to your email before it got corrupted.

I hope this helps.

from texlive-xetex, and mllatex from texlive-formats-extra) are also
broken because they *stop* at the warning message and do not generate
 the format.

The latex.ini file that is loaded when generating the (pdf)latex formats
 contains the line
   \scrollmode
which makes the engine (pdftex/...) *not* stop at the respective
message. Unfortunately that line is missing from mllatex.ini,
 cslatex.ini, xelatex.ini.

 I have prepared:
   texlive-base2007.dfsg.2-1~lenny2
   texlive-lang2007.dfsg.4-1+lenny1
   texlive-extra 2007.dfsg.17-1~lenny02
 for stable-proposed updates.

The last one would replace the ~lenny01 package that is already in
 stable.

The texlive-lang is the first update for stable.

The question is about the first, texlive-base, where I have already
uploaded one version (~lenny1) to stable-proposed-updates, but that has
 not been accepted by now.

Should I upload a new ~lenny1 with the additional fixes or should I
 upload ~lenny1 for that package?

 All the best

 Norbert

Best wishes

Norbert

Package: grub-pc

Severity: important
System: Debian Sid
Kernel: Linux 2.6.30-rc8-686 (kernel-archive.buildserver.net/debian-kernel)
Processor: Pentium M, 852GM/855GM

I am using KMS with module i915 modeset=1.
When booting with the latest version of grub-pc (20090628), after loading
module i915 modeset=1 the booting process
is no longer shown on the screen until gdm is loaded.
VT screens 1-6 are all showing the gdm login screen although without mouse
pointer and no keyboard input.
Only VT screen 7 works normally.

When booting with version grub-pc_1.96+20090611-1, the screen is set to high
resolution and KMS works perfectly.

Jos van Wolput

Bug#534281: nosql: uninstallable on ia64, alpha, GNU/kFreeBSD

 Package: nosql
 Severity: serious

 Hi,

current version have hardcoded dependency on libc
 as Depends: libc6 (= 2.2.3-1).
This cannot be satisfied on some architectures.
 It have been introduced in

  nosql (4.0.14-2) unstable; urgency=low
* add dependency to libc (warning from lintian)

Please at least drop this dependency or generate
correct one during build using i.e. dh_shlibdeps.

Hi,

cc'ing -qa@ because I won't be fixing the whole package, and it really
needs it. I think it'd be a nice exercise for a wannabe packager to make
it use debhelper instead of that broken homebrew stuff.

Hint: one needs to get rid of debian/substvars, at the very least.

Another idea might be to get rid of the package itself, but I won't be
judging that here.

Thanks for your time.

KiBi.

Gotta love C++. Write code once, sit around for several years, wake up
one day and it suddenly no longer compiles.

Is there an easy way to figure out where /usr/include/signal.h is being
included? It seems that signal in that file is conflicting with
sigc::signal. I suspect there are two possibilities:

* /usr/include/signal.h was recently #include'd by one of gnomoradio's
dependencies. or,

* /usr/include/signal.h has always been included, but a new version of
g++ has determined this reference to 'signal' to be ambiguous where it
had not been before.

I no longer use Debian, but I will try to debug this further if I get a
chance.

Here's a related message on libsigc-list:
http://www.nabble.com/namespace-problem-td19310347.html

Maybe I ought to just s/signal/sigc::signal/ throughout the source...

Bug#535133: rasmol: basename implicitly converted to pointer

2009-06-29 Thread dann frazier
Package: rasmol
Version: 2.7.4.2-4
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Usertags: implicit-pointer-conversion

Our automated buildd log filter[1] detected a problem that is likely to
cause your package to segfault on architectures where the size of a
pointer is greater than the size of an integer, such as ia64 and amd64.

Function `basename' implicitly converted to pointer at molecule.c:338
Function `basename' implicitly converted to pointer at molecule.c:338
Function `basename' implicitly converted to pointer at molecule.c:338
Function `basename' implicitly converted to pointer at molecule.c:338

This is often due to a missing function prototype definition.
For more information, see [2].

Though it is guaranteed that this codepath will cause a segfault on certain
architectures, it is not guaranteed that this codepath would ever be executed
(e.g., if the returned pointer is never dereferenced). However, this bug
does prevent the ia64 buildd from successfully building this package, resulting
in a practical FTBFS issue and warranting the serious severity.

The attached patch assumes the GNU implementation of basename() is
desired. The same affect could be produced by adding -D_GNU_SOURCE to
the CFLAGS. If the POSIX basename semantics are preferred, you'll
probably want to #include libgen.h instead.
