I introduced otheruser above. I updated the text to explicitly include
localuser as well.

Remember that this is not an introduction of how to use all those
other tools but rather points to them. I explicitly referenced now the
man page of ssh.

I think the man page is not the right place to discuss those issues.
It is intended as first pointer for future reading or simply using
(i.e. the user might now already about those solutions, but simply
needs a gentle reminder).

As stated above, I updated the introduction of the roles localuser and
otheruser.

I don't know if using $COMMAND provides more clarity than command.

This is longer and I would rather avoid writing this, because using
graphical applications should remain the exception, and explaining
this here might people lend to have such shell open permanently and
running much more than desired. And again, people who need this either
know how to export the DISPLAY permanenetly or they can now look up
other documentation to find out how to do it. Keep it short and simple
and let the other documentation do its work.

> Probably it is better to put some link to documentation

> man ssh_config
> man sshd_config

No, this is going beoynd what is needed here. In ssh(1) you get all
the pointers.

> man xhost

I reworded the text to include this link.

Yup, 1.7 has been in the works for a while for various reasons (incl. a
change of upstream maintainer). It was finally released upstream about a
month ago and I've been working on updating the package, and have been
working with upstream on some issues (upstream #12, #13, etc.). We'll
have it in Debian soon I hope :)

Hi,

during a test with piuparts I noticed your package ships (or creates)

BTW, why do the -dev packages contain the SOVERSION in their name?
Usually the -dev packages omit the SOVERSION, then the rdepends do
not need updating if the SOVERSION changes.

Canonical -dev packages would be called libgamemode-dev, libgamemodeauto-dev

cheers,

The above is how the build ends in my autobuilder and it's not
necessarily the relevant part.

The failure is not, however, related to using dpkg-buildpackage -A,
as it also fails in reproducible builds:

If this is really a bug in one of the build-depends, please use reassign and
affects,
so that this is still visible in the page for this package.

Thanks.

Hi Vasudev,

are there any remaining problems with

?

If there are any issues left that cannot be resolved quickly,
for a temporary fix I could do an NMU.

Dear Maintainer,

The update to 2.4.10-1 causes redshift to immediately crash, with the error:

Failed to connect to GeoClue2 service:
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied: 'redshift' disallowed, no
agent for UID 1000

Starting the agent in the demo package manually appears to make no difference.
Additionally, I tried to use the where-am-i demo, which produced the same error
(again with the agent started).

I think the cause is this change referred to in the upstream changelog:
"Refuse location access if no app-auth agent is registered. This fixes a
security hole where an app requests location access before the agent gets to
register itself and we end up giving out locaiton access even though user has
disabled it."

Can the change be reverted until the agent works?

FYI, I make the report critical so that the change doesn't migrate to testing,
feel free to drop the severity if you think that's appropriate.

Package: python-tofu
Version: 0.5-6
Severity: serious
User: helm...@debian.org
Usertags: python-import

After installing python-tofu importing the module tofu
into a python interpreter fails with the following error:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "", line 1, in
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/tofu/__init__.py", line 108, in

import cerealizer
ImportError: No module named cerealizer

The vast majority of import failures is attributed to missing dependencies.
Often times that manifests as an ImportError or ModuleNotFoundError.
Typically, dependencies should be inserted by dh-python via ${python:Depends}
or ${python3:Depends}. Thus a missing dependency can be caused by incomplete
install_requires in setup.py. Sometimes a missing dependency of a dependency
is the cause, in such cases this bug should be reassigned.

was filed for. If a fix in another package is required, please
file a bug for the other package (or clone), and add a block in this
package. Please keep the issue open until the package can be built in

severity of this report will be raised before the buster release.

The full build log can be found at:

The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 8, either set CC=gcc-8 CXX=g++-8 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t=experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures with
-Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols files.

Bug#905908: libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory when updating to 4.4.1~rc2-3

2018-08-11 Thread Kyle Robbertze
Package: octave
Version: 4.4.1~rc2-3
Severity: serious
Justification: Policy 3.5

Dear Maintainer,

When updating octave to 4.4.1~rc2-3, I received the following error:

Setting up octave (4.4.1~rc2-3) ...
/usr/bin/octave-cli: error while loading shared libraries: libGL.so.1: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing package octave (--configure):

Package: multipath-tools
Version: 0.6.4-5
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

the mpathpersist command segfaults. I got it fixed, but discovered, that
a similiar fix is already applied upstream.

Git commit fef089a6610f94a847541069f3008a5708044015
in the upstream sources fixes this problem!

I've added the above mentioned patch manually and installed the package
as a NMU and it works.

At least the segfaults are gone. I'm not sure if the tool is working
properly though.

Please keep this issue open in the bug tracker for the package it
was filed for. If a fix in another package is required, please
file a bug for the other package (or clone), and add a block in this
package. Please keep the issue open until the package can be built in
a follow-up test rebuild.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-8/g++-8, but succeeds to build with gcc-7/g++-7. The
severity of this report will be raised before the buster release.

The full build log can be found at:
http://aws-logs.debian.net/2018/05/01/gcc8/gamera_3.4.2+git20160808.1725654-2_unstable_gcc8.log.gz
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 8, either set CC=gcc-8 CXX=g++-8 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t=experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures with
-Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols files.
For other C/C++ related build failures see the porting guide at

Hi,

the libnm-glib/libnm-util libraries have been deprecated upstream in
favour of libnm.

Your package declares a Build-Depends on network-manager-dev.
It seems, nis uses NetworkManager for checking the connectivity status.
It uses the D-Bus API for that.

ypbind-mt-1.38/configure.ac checks for NetworkManager/NetworkManager.h
and NetworkManager/NetworkManagerVPN.h, but it has fallback code in
ypbind-mt-1.38/src/ypbind_dbus_nm.c in case those headers are not
available.

Please consider switching to libnm, which provides a similar API as
libnm-glib/libnm-util [1] and update the configure check and header
includes accordingly.

Alternatively, and maybe an even better approach would be, to use
GNetworkMonitor instead, which was introduced in glib 2.32 [2] and is
available since wheezy.

Regards,
Michael

To finish off the libnm-glib transition (nm-openconnect being the last
package at [1]), I decided to prepare an NMU and upload to DELAYED/7

While at it, I've also included the changes for #852705 and #852706.
Full debdiff attached.

Please holler if you want me to cancel the NMU and you want to make a
maintainer upload instead.

Regards,
Michael

Bug#899712: marked as done (torrus: Invalid maintainer address pkg-torrus-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org)

2018-08-11 Thread Debian Bug Tracking System
Your message dated Sat, 11 Aug 2018 15:36:57 +

has caused the Debian Bug report #899712,

to be marked as done.

This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with.

Package: src:torrus
Version: 2.09-1
Severity: serious
User: ad...@alioth-lists.debian.net
Usertag: alioth-lists-maintainer

Dear uploader of torrus,

as you've probably heard, Debian's alioth services are shutting down.
This affects your package torrus since the list address
pkg-torrus-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org used in the Maintainer:
field was not transferred to the alioth-lists service that provides a
continuation for the lists in the @lists.alioth.debian.org domain.

Addresses that were not migrated have been disabled some time ago. As
a result your package is now in violation of a "must" in the Debian
policy (3.3, working email address), making it unfit for release.

Please fix this before long. Among other reasons, keep in mind bug
reports and important notifications about your package might not reach
you.

Your options:

* Upload another version with a new maintainer address of your choice,

* Migrate the list to the new system. This is still possible,
please appoint a Debian developer as a list owner first, then
contact the alioth lists migration team
and provide all the necessary information.

More information about the new service can be found here:

* More options, even if imperfect, can be found at

The first option is probably suitable only if the address was used just
in a small number of packages since this requires an upload for each of
them. To our knowledge, the usage count of
pkg-torrus-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org is 1.

The second option is available for a limited time only, by end of
May 2018 the most. So if you're interested in going this way, start the
process as soon as possible.

Note, as mails to the maintainer address will not get through, this
bugreport is Cc'ed (X-Debbugs-CC:) to all uploaders of the package.

Regards,

Christoph and some alioth-lists maintainers

Fix is attached.

The triggering change for the FTBFS was automake 1.16, but this was an
old bug. The --no-parallel in debian/rules was a workaround for the same
bug and can now be dropped.

The full build log can be found at:
http://aws-logs.debian.net/2018/05/01/gcc8/linbox_1.4.2-5_unstable_gcc8.log.gz
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 8, either set CC=gcc-8 CXX=g++-8 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t=experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures with
-Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols files.

It is not clear to me whether or not this library name change

currently wrong and the root cause of bugs like #904690.

Hi Lars,

Do you have an ETA on the upload fixing cliapp? At the moment, cliapp
is a key package and as such a potential blocker for the new Debian release.

If you are pondering a removal (per your last sentence), the following
packages currently rely on cliapp in testing and would need to migrate
away first:

"""

Checking reverse dependencies...
# Broken Depends:

cmdtest: cmdtest
freedom-maker: freedom-maker
live-wrapper: live-wrapper
vmdb2: vmdb2
vmdebootstrap: vmdebootstrap

# Broken Build-Depends:
cmdtest: python-cliapp
freedom-maker: python3-cliapp
live-wrapper: python-cliapp
vmdb2: python3-cliapp
"""

Thanks,
~Niels

Dear maintainer,

Your package is {build-}depending against gnome-vfs which is
deprecated for quite some times now and has been replaced by gvfs.

We are thinking about removing gnome-vfs for Buster if possible.

Could you please verify that this dependency is mandatory and if it's
not the case, could you please remove it?

Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Laurent Bigonville

The other problem is only related to cruft, so a binNMU is sufficient:

Please keep this issue open in the bug tracker for the package it
was filed for. If a fix in another package is required, please
file a bug for the other package (or clone), and add a block in this
package. Please keep the issue open until the package can be built in
a follow-up test rebuild.

The package fails to build in a test rebuild on at least amd64 with
gcc-8/g++-8, but succeeds to build with gcc-7/g++-7. The
severity of this report will be raised before the buster release.

The full build log can be found at:
http://aws-logs.debian.net/2018/05/01/gcc8/cssc_1.4.0-5_unstable_gcc8.log.gz
The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report.

To build with GCC 8, either set CC=gcc-8 CXX=g++-8 explicitly,
or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental.

  apt-get -t=experimental install g++

Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures with
-Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols files.
For other C/C++ related build failures see the porting guide at
http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-8/porting_to.html

Bug#905409: upgrade of util-linux and login break the xhost command for other users

2018-08-11 Thread Andreas Henriksson
Hello Helge Kreutzmann,

I'm skeptical how relevant it is to document how X and ssh works
in the _su_ manpage, but either way since you're patching the
manpage this is something you want to send upstream for review if
you think it's worth persuing and my opinion doesn't count there.

As always to increase chances of a favourable review getting the
administrative details right from the start is useful, so please
see Documentation/howto-contribute.txt

(You might also want to replace references to 'Debian 9' with
'shadow su implementation' or similar.)

I'll add a note to util-linux.NEWS about DISPLAY and XAUTHORITY.

Regards,
Andreas Henriksson

Package: util-linux
Version: 2.32-0.1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

upgrading
* util-linux:amd64 (2.32-0.1, 2.32-0.3)
* login:amd64 (1:4.5-1, 1:4.5-1.1)

do not let work anymore something like this:

$ xhost +si:localuser:temp
$ su - temp
$ firefox &
Error: GDK_BACKEND does not match available displays

downgrade this two packages (as I have done now before writing this bug
report) solve the problem

If I mistake and this is a login package problem please reassign the bug.

thank
Davide
