failing ltsp login: xsession-errors / firefox kde?

Hi there,

is this a local problem or do other installations face the same problem:
Some users cannot login to KDE 3.5 under certain circumstances

I could provide hundreds of .xsession-errors, here just a sample

but not offline.

Maybe it should be moved to examples of another package anyway.

Okay, thanks for this hint, first time I read this line it was on
tjener's syslog -- and there was no package containing this lib on my
Sarge tjener.

But now I see it comes from ltspserver00 -- and as it wasn't installed,
I did so, now. It is used by consolekit, cf. package desc.:

I'm using this setup in laptops without problems, with Debian Lenny
 and Squeeze.

We should at least get it working out of the box for Squeeze. Please
provide a good patch for
URL:http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=566718. :)

If there were not problems doing it, we can think of adding this
setup by default in every Debian edu installation.

I am not aware of any problems with cached credentials. We could make
it optional by installing libpam-ccreds, but some changes are needed
to nscd configuration too, I believe. Perhaps we can convince the
nscd maintainers to change the defaults?

I found a way to avoid the message about incorrect flash version on the BBC
site.

If firefox is started like this

  GNASH_PLUGIN_DESCRIPTION=Shockwave Flash 10.0 r999 firefox

the gnash plugin will report a description the BBC site understand and the
flash content is started in Gnash. But the video playback do not work with
the current development version of Gnash, so the page do not work yet.
We could provide a Xsession.d fragment to set this environment variable
globally to get Gnash to behave more like Adobe Flash.

The flash on the viten.no site seem to work with the current development
version of Gnash.

I am not sure if providing flash working on some sites is better then providing
no flash working on any sites, and welcome the discussion. The last time
this was discussed, the conclusion was that it is better that some flash sites
work than no flash sites. :)

= Developers and translator sections =

The developers and translators section of the Community
Zone are empty at the moment. We need useful content here
so please help us make these sections better
Please link the developer page to
URL: http://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/ . No point in moving
developer related content away from the wiki.

Do you or anyone else know if could we direct people that wants to help with
the translation of Skolelinux / DebianEdu there as well ? Will they find the
necassery information to get started there ?

No, the pages for translators (to/from Norwegian) are here:

http://wiki.skolelinux.no/Bidra/Oversetting

Best regards
Axel Bojer

New upload of notepad to fix KDE menu issue?

2010-01-28 Thread Petter Reinholdtsen
Hi. Is there any hope of you uploading a new noteedit version to
unstable fixing the KDE menu issue reported in #396805? The patch in
#535406 should be safe to include as well.

I am aware that it is scheduled for removal, but until it is removed
it would be nice if it showed up in the KDE menu where it is supposed
to show up. :)

We use the package in Debian Edu, and it is the last menu entry in
lost+found in our default desktop configuration. :)

I will NMU if I do not hear back from you in a few days.

Happy hacking,

Re: cleanup of svn/branches

2010-01-28 Thread Holger Levsen
Hi,

I've cleaned the very most of it, browsing is now possible again, even for
people who don't know the structure :-)

There are still a few rougher edges though, one of them
is /tags/src/webmin-ldap-user-simple which I suggest to move to /tags/old/ -
any objections or better ideas?

http://svn.debian.org/viewsvn/debian-edu/ for those who want to take a
look :-)

cheers,
Holger
