Bug#683807: report with nvidia driver always loaded

2012-08-10 Thread asronche...@libero.it
Hi,

i changed bumblebee config to disable the use of bbswitch module.
Atm uptime is 33 hours.
I only had some consecutive crashes of iceweasel yesterday. But right now
everything seems to be working good.

here is my new bumblebee config:

# Configuration file for Bumblebee. Values should **not** be put between
quotes

## Server options. Any change made in this section will need a server restart
# to take effect.
[bumblebeed]

# for X to be ready is too long and don't need power management at all.
KeepUnusedXServer=true
# The name of the Bumbleblee server group name (GID name)
ServerGroup=bumblebee
# Card power state at exit. Set to false if the card shoud be ON when
Bumblebee
# server exits.
TurnCardOffAtExit=false
# The default behavior of '-f' option on optirun. If set to true, '-f' will
# be ignored.
NoEcoModeOverride=false
# The Driver used by Bumblebee server. If this value is not set (or empty),
# auto-detection is performed. The available drivers are nvidia and nouveau
# (See also the driver-specific sections below)
Driver=nvidia

## Client options. Will take effect on the next optirun executed.

# Possible values are proxy, jpeg, rgb, xv and yuv.
VGLTransport=proxy

# Driver-specific settings are grouped under [driver-NAME]. The sections are
# parsed if the Driver setting in [bumblebeed] is set to NAME (or if auto-
# detection resolves to NAME).
# PMMethod: method to use for saving power by disabling the nvidia card, valid

# none - disable PM completely

## Section with nouveau driver specific options, only parsed if Driver=nouveau

I changed PMMethod to none (bbswitch disabled and driver always on) and
KeepUnusedXServer to true.

Bug#683768: linux-image-3.2.0-3-amd64: hibernate 3x slower after upgrade to linux-image-3.2.0-3-amd64

2012-08-10 Thread hugo vanwoerkom
 It gets stranger still: when I compile a kernel after 'make
localmodconfig' to streamline it, then the hibernate time sometimes changes.
This is true for 3.2.23-1: it goes from 31s. to 10s.
It is not true for 3.2.21-3: it stays at 31s.
Neither is it true for 3.5.0 from experimental: it was 30s. and streamlined
only went to 20s.

Bug#681232: [3.2.20-3.2.21 regression] Atheros WiFi Adapter couldn't find networks gain calibration timeout

2012-08-10 Thread Jesse Rhodes
Ok:

3.2.0-3 (3.2.23-1) also produces the timeouts. So, just use the kernel
from sid isn't even a workaround. I will continue bisecting.

  Is 3.2.0-3 (3.2.23-1) from sid exempt from the freeze? I'm going to try
  that one as well. If it works, at least it'll likely work for the
 release,
  though we should probably keep hunting for the cause of this bug lest it
  surface again.

 The kernel and release teams are in close contact, and all linux
 uploads to sid are expected to be eligible for freeze exceptions.

Bug#683807: bluetooth module loaded without hardware ?!? and then sys crash

2012-08-10 Thread asronche...@libero.it
Another crash (this time with nvidia module loaded), after 37 hours uptime.

It crashed irreparably at 16:03 (UTC). I had some previous faults with
tranmission-gtk some hours before the system crash.
At (UTC) 11 and 13 o'clock transmission client crashed, 4 times in total:

Then i noticed that the 'gran finale' crash started creating syslog messages

  The kernel loads the bluetooth module also if i have no bluetooth hardware
  on this notebook.

  kernel is 3.2.0-3-amd64 #1 SMP x86_64 and i'm using debian wheezy

The kernel doesn't load modules except as requested by userland.
A default wheezy installation includes userland support for
Bluetooth which presumably caused this module to be loaded. If you
don't like that, you can probably uninstall it. Ask the debian-user
list.

Ben.

Re: Bug#677475: Sun Fire X4140 with NVIDIA Corporation MCP55 Ethernetcards and bridge interface resets on boot

2012-08-10 Thread Paweł Tomulik

Hello,

I have simillar issue (on same HW) when using openvswitch (with xcp-xapi),
the trick with ifconifg eth0 up helped me too a little bit.

My setup worked initially (for longer than half a day), but once
during shutdown the system hung (with message like task
shutdown blocked for more than 120 secs... after Will now restart).

After that, i was unable to start it, until applied the abovementioned
hack.

Regards,
