Hum no. This message means that dpkg-shlipdes has found no associated

ubuntu keyring?

2011-03-13 Thread Harald Dunkel

Hi folks,

I am trying to setup a pbuilder environment for mixed amd64 and i386.
Google pointed me to this page:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PbuilderHowto

Seems that Ubuntu provides the Debian keyring as well. According to this
page this makes Ubuntu a very powerful package development platform for
both Ubuntu _and Debian.

I have Ubuntu on my Laptop, but of course I would prefer to keep Debian
as the base platform for package development. What would you suggest
how to include the Ubuntu keyring into Debian?

Hello Sergey,

Sorry for the delay, I had not forgotten you (otherwise I would have told
you that I can't do the upload). I have uploaded the package but:

 The package appears to be lintian clean.

It's only apparent...

$ debuild -S
[...]
Now running lintian...
W: libapache2-mod-qos source: maintainer-script-lacks-debhelper-token
debian/libapache2-mod-qos.postinst
W: libapache2-mod-qos source: maintainer-script-lacks-debhelper-token
debian/libapache2-mod-qos.prerm
Finished running lintian.

Strangely lintian does not show this warning when building the full package. I
have reported this as a bug against lintian.

 Note: this version set DM-Upload-Allowed debian/control field.

I have dropped this, while I have advocated you for DM, I was hoping that you
would get other recommandations besides mine as you have had several sponsors.

I have seen too little on this package to be confident that you are able to
manage it. I have asked you to switch to debhelper 7 tiny rules files for
example and you responded that it might be complicated and have put it off too
later. I don't think it is.

When you have done 2-3 more of the TODO items that you have noted, I might
be ok with adding the field.

 Only your previous sponsors can judge if this should be added. Also I

Indeed.

Dear Stefan,

Thanks for your work on this software. I am not a DD, and cannot be an
uploader for your package, but I have a strong opinion that your
work deserves to be included in Debian. Therefore, I hope that
an interested DD will show up.

Here are my comments regarding the packaging:

The package builds OK (tested in squeeze). lintian -I --pedantic
displays a warning about missing upstream changelog:

% lintian -I --pedantic ../triggerhappy_0.3.4-1_i386.deb
P: triggerhappy: no-upstream-changelog

But the orig.tar.gz does not have it either, so it is probably OK by
now, however, you may consider adding it in future, because your work
may be of interest to other distributions, and for them the Debian
changelog is not a substitution for upstream's one.

A somewhat related note: the patch debian-changes-0.3.4-1 in
debian/patches contains changes that actually belong to upstream. As
you are the upstream it should not be a problem to incorporate them in
the proper place. Actually, uscan --verbose shows that you have not
even oficially released the version 0.3.4 yet, while you have already
packaged it for Debian! This is not good.

Your debian/control insists on having debhelper (= 7.0.50~) but as
you do not use any of the override-* directives, I think that (= 7)
should suffice.

Your debian/copyright is mostly OK, however, you may consider making
it more DEP-5 aware (http://dep.debian.net/deps/dep5/). In any case,
the copyright lines must match exactly what you have in the source
files, please amend your Copyright: paragraph respectively. There is
no need for any angular brackets around the copyright line; these
brackets most likely came from the template.

You may also consider removing redundant comments that came from
templates and are seen in your init.d script and debian/rules file.

I forgot to push the tag for release 0.3.4 to github, that's why the

Download the source archive for it, build it locally, then
install it. That's what I did for my local systems, for similar
reasons...

1) dget http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/u/ubuntu-keyring/
ubuntu-keyring_2010.+09.30.dsc
2) Used debuild to build the package locally. Used debsign on the
resulting files.
3) Installed that package where I needed it, including to my local
package repository.

This is probably a freshly-bootstrapped Ubuntu natty chroot that has
/var/lib/dpkg/info/$arch as a directory, rather than a symlink.  I've had a
couple of other people report this same issue, and walked them through
manually switching /var/lib/dpkg/info/$arch to a symlink for
backwards-compatibility. But yeah, it seems dpkg-shlibdeps doesn't work
with this database layout; I don't know why.

This issue will go away on the next upload of dpkg to Ubuntu (which, as you
know, is currently waiting for confirmation of the final multiarch db
layout).

Hi!

 I had a look into the file in question which has something like:

 $ grep para_read dialign.c
  extern void para_read( int num , char **arg );
  para_read( argnum , arguments );

 Any idea why this leads to

  undefined reference to `para_read'

You're just saying that the para_read function comes from extern and
then use it. But you don't like to the provider of that function.

Hello,

when you build it with the original makefile the command is

gcc -c -O -I-DCONS dialign.c

but from the buildd it is

gcc -g -O2 -g -O2 dialign.c

it seems that the -c parameter do the difference.

See you

Hi,

thanks for the hint. It was finally caused by the fact that cdbs is somehow
abandoning the use of DEB_OPT_FLAG.

Kind regards

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for my package liblastfmlib.

* Package name: liblastfmlib
  Version : 0.4.0-1
  Upstream Author : Dirk Vander Boer
* URL : http://code.google.com/p/lastfmlib/

  Section : libs

It builds these binary packages:

My motivation for maintaining this package is: Including this package in
Debian will make it possible to rebuild the mediatomb package with
last.fm scrobbling support. This is my 3rd attempt at getting a sponsor
for this package, but as squeeze is now released, I'm thinking I have a
better chance.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:

Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for the new version 5.4.dfsg.1-2.4

is fixed incidentally by the patch provided by Michel Dänzer for the RC bug.

Actually, the relevant part is a few lines above:

Here deprecated apparently means: is not used at all. :/

I'd recommend you:
- Stop using cdbs.
- Fix upstream makefile not to rely on having -c set in CFLAGS.
