Sure. Actually, I saw the comments you sent on the mailing list and then
did further comments on IRC (probably better to use the BTS or the ML
next time though). Do you want to upload this time or the one available

So, I leave it up to you; when you feel ready to upload, just upload.
I joined the IRC (irssi client on my home server) so I will (try to
remember to) check there for any message. I will also drop a message on
IRC before uploading.

Regarding the upload: I think d/copyright should be improved first, (at
least the parts where license-reconsile claims that the wrong license is
applied needs to be clearified) But as this is a huge package and it is
already through NEW I would be also okish for me improve here over the
next uploads.

Thanks. I will improve the copyright file when I'm done with the other

 Hi Tomasz,

Not really important, but the purpose of sponsoring is to teach you the
True Way of Debian: you should dump the WTF and the CC-BY-SA licenses
directly in copyright instead of putting them somewhere else. The
sentence On Debian systems, such license can be found... is only for
the licenses in common-licenses. Policy says:

Every package must be accompanied by a verbatim copy of its copyright
information and distribution license in the file
 /usr/share/doc/package/copyright (see Copyright information, Section
 12.5 for further details).

The common licenses are an exception, where we put only a pointer to
another file. So technically it's an RC bug to put the license in any
other place, although I doubt that you would get a REJECT for that (the
FTP master would file a bug, though, or otherwise remind you to fix this).

 Kind regards, Thibaut.

Hi Thibaud,
you can find the new version at http://mentors.debian.net/package/gravit.
It has now a huge d/copyright file. :)

uscan/watch and savannah

2014-09-30 Thread Andreas Rönnquist
Hi

Does anybody maintain a package which uses Savannah as host for the
upstream, and uses the savannah file area for its file releases?

My problem is that while uscan --report-status reports that an upstream
is available, since it checks the

http://download.savannah.gnu.org/project

folder, but when it is time to download, savannah redirects to the
nearest mirror site and tries to download from there. (In my case
http://nongnu.uib.no/ ) where the file hasn't had the time to
replicate, which causes problems, and the download isn't possible.

What is the best way to come around this problem where uscan
--report-status reports that a release is available, while it hasn't
had time to replicate to the site where download happens from?

Do you people simply use download-mirror.savannah.gnu.org in watch

This is for my package devilspie2 - watch file at
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/devilspie2.git/tree/debian/watch

Not that the problem is huge, but it would be nice to be able to
upload a new upstream version, get it reported by uscan --report-status,
and then immediately being able to use git-import-orig --uscan.

As it is now, I upload a new -upstream- version, but if I want to
git-import-orig --uscan, I need to wait for the tar-ball to get
replicated to my closest mirror (which takes about 24 hours according
to Savannah).

I can of course download the tarball by hand, and use git-import-orig
on that, but it would be much smoother being able to use --uscan.

- It looks like the answer by Daniel Lintott solves my problem.

Doing some searching on codesearch.d.n [1], I can see there are three
packages that use the download-mirror url [2].

An alternative option, which seems to be slightly more popular is a
noredirect option [3].

So the URL would become:
   http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases-noredirect/project

which then redirects to download-mirror.s.g.o which in my mind seems a
better a approach and would hopefully be kept working should anything
move in the future

That sounds exactly like what I want - I will try it out -

Thank you!

5. After the build, I used the command 'blhc --all
libzhuyin_0.9.99.20140929-1_amd64.build' to see about the build
status. No data. So, I used 'export V=1' in debia/rules and blhc show

export V = 1
export DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS = hardening=+all

 Hi ChangZhuo,

Good news. I will wait for you. You're welcome.

Upstream released a new version 0.9.99.20140929, and it does not install
binary tools and its manpage. So we don't need to decide whether
including binary tools or not anymore.

I just repacked the package in [0], The only change beside package
version is using `dh_install --fail-missing` to prevent missing files
from install. Please help to review and sponsor it, thanks.

An alternative option, which seems to be slightly more popular is a

So the URL would become:
   http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases-noredirect/project

which then redirects to download-mirror.s.g.o which in my mind seems a
better a approach and would hopefully be kept working should anything
move in the future

And after testing it out I can confirm that the noredirect option
really did the trick! Thank you!

Bug#763540: Review of psocksxx/0.0.5-1

2014-09-30 Thread Jörg Frings-Fürst
Hello Harlan,

first thanks for reviewing psocksxx.

Am Dienstag, den 30.09.2014, 22:18 -0400 schrieb Harlan Lieberman-Berg:
 Hello Jörg!

I took a look at psocksxx, and it looks pretty good! A couple minor
things that need to be changed:

 - The section comm is meant for management of modems, especially ones
connecting through POTS. The section for libpsockxx0 should probably be
 libs.
Ok changed

 - Because there are autotools files included inside upstream's tarball,
you should run debhelper with --with autoreconf to run dh_autoreconf.
Please note, --with autoreconf, you don't need to (and shouldn't) run
 dh with --with autotools_dev.

d/control:
remove Build-Depends: autotools_dev
add Build-Depends: dh-autoreconf

d/rules:
change to --with autoreconf

Package is uploaded to mentors[1].

Thanks for packaging psocksxx for Debian!

Bug#763540: Review of psocksxx/0.0.5-1

2014-09-30 Thread Paul Wise
On Wed, Oct 1, 2014 at 10:18 AM, Harlan Lieberman-Berg wrote:

Agreed, good review Harlan!

A couple minor things that need to be changed:

Agreed with both of these.

Some more minor issues that you might want to fix at some point:

The build process doesn't include -Wall in the build flags for gcc.

libpsocksxx0 is missing a Pre-Depends on multiarch-support as it
doesn't use ${misc:Pre-Depends}.

You might want to build-dep on libcppunit-dev so that the build-time
test suite is enabled.

The git repository mentioned in Vcs-* does not exist.

Is there any particular reason you chose GPL-3+ for the Debian
packaging instead of using the same as the upstream code (LGPL-3+)? If
you ever develop patches that would mean the resulting binary packages
are GPL-3+ not LGPL-3+ as upstream had intended and there is a very
very slight chance this could cause license incompatibility issues as
a result.

compression = xz is the default for format 3.0 source packages, no
need for it in debian/source/options. compression-level = 9 has no
advantage (exact same size for the debian.tar.xz) over the default
compression level for this tiny package so I wouldn't bother with it,
removing this file might even reduce the size of the debian.tar.xz.

override_dh_installdocs should be removed, the make part should be in
override_dh_auto_build and the cp part in libpsocksxx-doc.docs.

You can pass arguments to dpkg-gensymbols like this: dh_makeshlibs --
-plibpsocksxx0

You should move the contents of README.Debian into a comment in
libpsocksxx-doc.lintian-overrides since it isn't useful to users of
the binary package looking for documentation.

I would suggest not installing the static library (remove *.a from
debian/*.install) unless someone files a bug asking for it.

README.md is not needed in the libpsocksxx0 library package since that
will only be installed as a dep of other things.

The suggests from libpsocksxx0 to libpsocksxx-doc is not needed since
that will only be installed as a dep of other things, please move that
to libpsocksxx-dev since developers will install the -dev package and
might also want the -doc package.

The upstream test suite is hardcoding paths to test sockets in to
/tmp, it should create those sockets in the test/build directory
instead.
