http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2013/05/msg5.html http://lists.debian.org/debian-java/2013/05/msg00020.html debian-python doesn't deserve a similar communication (don't you dare thinking about coordination, it's out of question) because we're just a bunch of puppets waiting for orders by the ultimate master - well done. Selectively quoting the tech committee resolution: These breakdowns appear to be rooted in an unfortunate feedback loop, of which all parties involved share some blame. On multiple occasions, inflammatory comments regarding the employment and/or motives of individuals involved in python have been made. ... The committee expresses its disappointment in the communication problems which have lead to this issue, and strongly suggests that all involved parties be as awesome to each other as possible. Please everyone, make an effort to be polite. I don't know the origin of all the problems in debian-python (and frankly I don't want to), but it's pretty clear that writing snarky messages isn't going to resolve them. If you want to make a point, do so politely and people will be more inclined to listen. Thanks, Thomas

This will be the final security release for that version and I plan on doing it in October, as stated in PEP 361. The metapackage maintainers can speak for themselves whether they consider the upload to have been adequately agreed within the team. Maintainers of related packages who feel the upload wasn't suitably coordinated can justifiably complain to the maintainers. But accusing the one maintainer who did the upload of violating the TC resolution smells like a witch hunt. Unless this upload has materially impacted your packages due to a lack of coordination - and I don't see how it could, given that this is an obvious change to make, and can't possibly have interfered with other transitions given that it comes at the beginning of the release cycle - I would suggest moving on to more constructive topics. -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world.
