Bug#585007: kopete: Jabber (XMPP) protocol disconnects repeatedly. Upstream #198789

2010-06-08 Thread Nicos Gollan
Package: kopete
Version: 4:4.4.4-1
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Kopete in KDE4 tends to repeatedly disconnect from servers due to a conceived
protocol error, that seems to be a bug in the client's timeout handling.

Upstream bug is at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=198789 including a
proposed patch. Please consider including the patch in the Debian packages
until it is included.

Bug#585043: Cannot type password when run from .kde/env during KDE startup

2010-06-08 Thread Artur R. Czechowski
Package: ksshaskpass
Version: 0.5.3-1
Severity: important

Hello,
When ksshaskpass is spawned by program running during early KDE startup
it is impossible to type the password.

I've following scriptlet in .kde/env:

$ cat 01ssh-add.sh
/usr/bin/ssh-add
$

During startup I can see ksshaskpass window, it even got focus (slightly blue
frame round the text input field), but no keystrokes are registered.

No black dots are visible during typing the password. No key is added
to ssh-agent. The ksshaskpass window, however, can react to Enter key.
It looks like only text input field is handicapped.

I noticed the problem some time ago. It was either when I upgraded KDE
from 4:4.3.4-1 to 4:4.4.3-1 or from 4:4.4.3-1 to 4:4.4.3-2.

At the moment I am running current sid and the problem still exists.

Regards
Artur

Bug#584633: kde-l10n-sr: duplicate ktorrent.mo which is also in ktorrent-data

2010-06-08 Thread Chusslove Illich
This has been fixed upstream for future releases of kde-l10n-sr. To fix the
4.4.4 package, it is enough to delete all ktorrent.po from it before
building it (this won't confuse the build system or something).

Bug#584905: plasma-netbook not auto-starting on a fresh install

I guess the Ubuntu file could be distro custom. I should file a bug with KDE,

I'm turning this email into a bug report, since this seems to be a
 packaging problem.

The relevant kubuntu patch seems to be this one [1] and it seems it
has been removed from the 4.5 beta packages, with a changelog message
indicating it has been fixed upstream, although I see no
 plasma-netbook.desktop in their plasma-netbook.install file.

I don't fully understand though how this is going to work when one has
both plasma-desktop and plasma-netbook installed... are they both
going to be autostarted? Also, why does plasma-netbook autostart when
plasma-desktop is installed and a netbook form factor is selected in
systemsettings? (I had tried that once)

Hi,
I tested this on my system and I noticed that both plasma-desktop and
plasma-netbook can autostart without having any plasma-*.desktop file
in /usr/share/autostart. I wonder how this happens and why it doesn't
work on your system, Brendon. Scott, do you know any more details
about how this is handled? I am still not convinced about why this
patch solves the problem.

There is a kcm that can control which plasma starts when both plasma-desktop
and plasma-netbook are installed without reference to autostart files. The
upstream design for 4.4 worked fine if both or just desktop were installed,
but didn't consider the netbook only case for first run. The autostart file is
a work around for the hole in the design.

Re: digikam 1.3.0 build issues.

2010-06-08 Thread Mark Purcell
Just compile and install libkdcraw/libkexiv2 (and also libkipi) from
 svn trunk (kdegraphics module)

Gilles,

Unfortunately for a distribution such as Debian we are tied to releases of the
kdegraphics module. We can't easily include the svn trunk components of some
of kdegraphics :-(

all library code are managed by digiKam team.

The libraries maybe managed by the digikam team, but the release is controlled
by the kdegraphics release, do you know which release the updates are slated
for?

I would doubt that KDE SC 4.4.5 will include large changes, which means we
maybe awaiting KDE SC 4.5 for updates to these libs.

Previously when the digikam team released these libraries directly, we could
update the library packaging independent of the upstream kdegraphics release,
however we cannot do that anymore.

I presume that other distributions would also have the same issues?

Mark

Hi,

I recently started using klipper again to get the most of the clipboard
system in X, however something just isn't quite right with it so I asked
on Usenet.

http://groups.google.co.uk/group/uk.comp.os.linux/browse_thread/thread/4b7d42403420bedc#

The only configuration options that I have enabled are 'prevent empty
clipboard' and 'seperate clipboard and selection'

The problem is replicated by the following:
CTRL-C in iceweasel close iceweasel paste into kwrite : nothing
appears (bad)

I've tried with konqueror and OpenOffice and get the same problem. It
seems that although 'prevent empty clipboard' is enabled it just doesn't
extend to doing a CTRL-C.

I've got two machines here with almost identifical configuration which
exhibit the problem.

I'd be interested if someone else in testing could replicate this.

since kde4, the kdm module of systemsettings does not offer any
convenient way to gain administrative rights to change the kdm
configuration.
a very long time it was said, kde4.4 will do taht again -- but after
yesterday's update, that brought kde4.4, it's still impossible.

according to
 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=151669#c137
the module should
- allow changing settings
- ask for root authentication via dbus/policykit when hitting apply.

however, the kdm module does not allow the change anything nor is the
apply button active.

When adding groups in knode, the new groups are listed last in that account.
However, after restarting knode, they are properly ordered by alphabet.

This is not very intuitive. Please always sort the groups by alphabet. It might
be a nice service to the users to mark these groups with a special symbol (some
sort of blue N comes to my mind).

I use different clients which aren't otr or xhtml-im aware. This means that
kopete must not send xhtml encoded messages to these clients. This works
perfectly in case the otr plugin is _disabled_.

OTR now defines that all data send over it can be (x)html. The problem is that
after I enabled the otr plugin (without using otr at all - standard behaviour
is opotunistic) it just sends xhtml even when the capabilities of the other
clients doesn't support xhtml-im and doesn't supprt otr at all.

This bug is not about problems with miranda's otr plugin because it has more
faults than features. It was tested using minimal client implementation and
actual user clients like the jabber integration in google mail. All output was
checked using xml console.

Package: plasma-widgets-addons
Version: 4:4.4.3-1
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hi there,

if I add a directory to the picture frame for the slideshow, all subdirectories
which are symlinks are ignored, normal directories are included and the
contained pictures are shown.

This behaviour is new in version 4.4.3, the debian version of 4.3.4 (4:4.3.4-1)
has shown all pictures from symlink subdirectories.

Added a path which restores the old (and in my opinion correct) behaviour.

Regards,
Michael

When I try to reply to a message and click on the send button Kmail prompts
me for my password and then tries to send the email. I can see that it tries in
the toolbar but it keeps stuck at 0%.
