I have scheduled all binNMUs and uploaded the necessary packages, and
most of packages have been built now.

IMHO, the major blocker for now are llvm-toolchain-{9,10} which FTBFS on
ppc64el. The other issues concern packages that are not in testing, or
can be removed from testing.

I've gathered relevant bug reports there:

I have added removal hints for those that can be removed.

Besides llvm-toolchain, there are also some autopkgtest regressions on
armhf:

autopkgtest for cudf/0.9-1: amd64: Pass, arm64: Pass, armhf: Regression ♻
(reference ♻), i386: Pass
autopkgtest for dose3/5.0.1-15: amd64: Pass, arm64: Pass, armhf: Test in
progress, i386: Pass
autopkgtest for mcl/1:14-137+ds-9: amd64: Pass, arm64: Pass, armhf: Regression
♻ (reference ♻), i386: Pass
autopkgtest for morbig/0.10.4-4: amd64: Pass, arm64: Pass, armhf: Regression ♻
(reference ♻), i386: Not a regression
autopkgtest for morsmall/0.3.0-3: amd64: Pass, arm64: Pass, armhf: Regression ♻
(reference ♻), i386: Pass
autopkgtest for ocaml-visitors/20200210-2: armhf: Regression ♻ (reference ♻)
autopkgtest for ppx-deriving-yojson/3.5.3-1: amd64: Pass, arm64: Pass, armhf:
Regression ♻ (reference ♻), i386: Pass
autopkgtest for sks/1.1.6+git20200620.9e9d504-1: amd64: Pass, arm64: Pass,
armhf: Regression ♻ (reference ♻), i386: Pass
autopkgtest for why3/1.3.3-1: amd64: Pass, arm64: Pass, armhf: Test in
progress, i386: Pass

Not sure about sks. The others look like they have been run before
some of the binNMUs were available, so I have rescheduled them.

llvm-toolchain-11 has two RC bugs open that will require an upload.

llvm-toolchain-11 and Mesa are not currently co-installable for amd64
and i386 in unstable, which is problematic for users of Wine etc.
If another upload is not imminent, please consider:

nmu llvm-toolchain-11_1:11.0.0-2 . amd64 . unstable . -m "bring version back

in the udeb :)

Bug#972351: buster-pu: package ros-ros-comm/1.14.3+ds1-5+deb10u1

2020-10-16 Thread Jochen Sprickerhof
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
Tags: buster
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: pu

[ Reason ]
CVE-2020-16124 was published with a number of integer overflow in the
XML RPC layer of ros-ros-comm.

[ Impact ]
The impact is rather low as the ROS middleware has no authentication nor
security features implemented and should only be used behind a firewall.
Still would be good to get it fixed in stable.

[ Tests ]
The patch adds a unit test and I ran manual tests using the relay
command from the topic-tools package.

[ Risks ]
I see the code as rather trivial, and the risk as low.

[ Checklist ]
[X] *all* changes are documented in the d/changelog
[X] I reviewed all changes and I approve them
[X] attach debdiff against the package in (old)stable
[X] the issue is verified as fixed in unstable

[ Changes ]
The patch adds size checks and unit tests.

[ Other info ]
I left the patches as they where merged upstream but can squash them if
that would be easier for you.

+
+ - In XmlRpcClient, XmlRpcServerConnection and XmlRpcSocket, recognize when
incoming or outgoing data is too large, generate an error and discard the data
when practical.
+ - Use the safe strtol() rather than atoi() to decode an incoming

This is part of a slightly wider discussion that's come up a few times
before, around the handling of updates to plugins for Mozilla products
(and I guess others, but Firefox and Thunderbird are the ones most
often affected).

Previous security updates to those packages have led both to packages
being updated in stable (often with large diffs) and other packages
being removed as unsupportable.

There's a school of thought which says that it doesn't make sense to
include the plugins in the Debian archive at all, and we should instead
suggest that users install and update plugins from the upstream
repositories directly.

Adam

One other thing I just noticed - please don't close p-u bugs in your
changelog. The release.d.o bug gets closed once the package has been
added to stable in a point release, as that's the end of the process.
