Bug#755903: Have to invoke gnuplot with two copies of same input file
Package: gnuplot Version: 4.6.0-8 $ gnuplot contrib.runes $ wc -l contrib.ps 595 contrib.ps $ gnuplot contrib.runes contrib.runes $ wc -l contrib.ps 765 contrib.ps $ cat contrib.runes set terminal epscairo size 5.0, 3.5 set output 'contrib.ps' set xrange [1311264120:1405958544] set yrange [0:800] set xdata time set timefmt %s set style fill solid 0.5 plot 'contrib.gnuplot' using 1:2 with boxes title 'osstest loc by author date' $ The output file from the first invocation does not actually contain the graph data. I have searched the whole manual for the word `output' and nothing seems to suggest what I'm doing anything wrong. I have seen similar effects with other `set terminal' options. While I haven't reproduced that systematically, I don't think this is simply a bug in the epscairo terminal driver. The file contrib.gnuplot is attached, as are the two .ps files. Bug#746609: Fwd: Re: 3depict: Please update to use wxwidgets3.0
Original Message Subject: Re: 3depict: Please update to use wxwidgets3.0 Date: Thu, 24 Jul 2014 23:18:55 +0100 From: D Haley my...@gmx.com To: Olly Betts o...@survex.com Hi, No it has not been missed. I have been busy over the last few weekends with other non-debian things. I could have done it last week, but was decided to work on the upstream source as a priority (I am upstream). I don't fully understand the corect solution to the problem, as the program will compile against wx2.8 and wx3.0. I needed to do more work to check to see if I can libwxgtk2.8-dev | libwxgtk3.0-dev with these sources (later wx2.8 will be dropped, but not yet). If you are happy to NMU the change yourself, that would actually help. I was deferring it until I actually understood what I was doing, and kept putting it off. Cheers, and apologies for the delay. I needed to do more work to check to see if I can libwxgtk2.8-dev | libwxgtk3.0-dev with these sources (later wx2.8 will be dropped, but not yet). The buildds will only ever try installing the first alternative, but any alternative will satisfy dpkg-buildpackage. So if you really want to keep the alternative, you need libwxgtk3.0-dev first. I wouldn't bother myself - wheezy-backports has wx3, and if you're backporting to other versions, having to tweak debian/control isn't onerous (and you'll have to for auto-built backports anyway). If you are happy to NMU the change yourself, that would actually help. I was deferring it until I actually understood what I was doing, and kept putting it off. OK, will upload shortly. I've rebuilt your package using the attached trivial patch. Generally it looks OK, but there's an odd problem on start-up - if the tip dialog is on (as it is by default), when you dismiss that dialog 3depict crashes with this error: The program '3depict' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'. (Details: serial 2687 error_code 8 request_code 156 minor_code 11) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) If I manage to successfully start 3depict and disable the tip dialog on startup, then this doesn't happen. A way I found to successfully start it was to run it under valgrind - I guess the problem is timing related, and under valgrind things run much slower so the timing happens to work better. I don't seem to get this issue with the 3depict package in unstable, though perhaps the timing is slightly different with that and it just happens to work.
