-BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: 2.6.3ia Charset: latin1 iQCVAgUBNY5EkSqK7IlOjMLFAQFPOAP/dgF4h3BHwO3lC8Uv0VlMVKx3g/PyXNwg XAPVwynpDRO5pX8bqLz82bGuozDSmVccTVvJS/abKmOIdbek/10RVBS+20I8spuj 8leSq2gNO8yb31smtPMxmy9kfuYkTL3vWASvrUi6fQg46MmHjEG+90Ig3Rv2CeAS u7AlubJ+VME= =76L6 -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
Idon't see many texinfo files on my Debian system. Is there a documentation package that has the texinfo files. SOLVED: palmpilot III and thinkpad 760xl
so my thanks to Maitland and SEGV. I appreciate your response but my problem turned out to be something else. It turns out all I had to do was read the README file provided by 3com. apparently in thinkpads the serial port is turned _off_ by default so that you can use the infra-red port (and I'm telling you, I use that infra-red all the time :-) ) So I had to reboot into NT and use the IBM thinkpad features to turn off the infra-red and turn on the serial port. now everything works fine. I'm sure there is a way to do this in linux I just dont know how. probably a HOW-TO somewhere. I really should just calm down and read the documentation once and a while. make my life sooo much easier. - John Kloss -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. I type scilab at the prompt and it exits without giving any error messages, without poping up any windows or anything. It just does nothing! Am I doing something wrong, or is this package broken? Thanks, Mark. Yes, it's broken. I have the same experience with the hamm version and oddly enough also with the FreeBSD port of Scilab. This indicates a big screw up from the upstream authors. Qt is deliberately very similar to Motif (it actually has two choices - MotifStyle or WindowsStyle). GTK's not much different either. This is fortunate for the users. If you know how one scrollbar works, you know them all. You shouldn't have to learn a toolkit, just the application. For programmers, however, there are major differences. 3Com Etherlink III doesn't work
Hi all, I just changed from slackware to debian (I think it's hamm, can't check it right now, but definitely not slink), but I can't get my 3Com Etherlink III ISA card to function properly. This is how it stands: I managed to get it work in slackware (so I suppose it is fully supported in debian too); next I installed debian (smooth install, no problems, entered irq=10 and io=0x300 as the parameters for the 3Com card. Those params worked in slack and still do in NT4). When I wanted to run the dselect package and update via FTP, I noticed I wasn't connected. I have static IP, pinging nameserver returns no packages, the card is up and running according to ifconfig, params (DNS, domain etc) seem ok... Are there known problems with this card, or is it just me that misconfigured things? NFS problem with 2.0
Urg. Fimble Fungers here sent this out with a screwy Subject line. Here again ... I've been seeing a problem with NFS on 2.0 here. I have several machines set up with Debian, both the stable and frozen releases. The stable ones are running 2.0.33 while the frozen ones are running either 2.0.33 or 2.1.106. I've mirrored the site to a few of the machines here, both 2.0.33 and 2.1.106, and use them for installs to other machines. The trouble is with the NFS installs. If the server is a frozen machine, then the NFS install will fail regardless of kernel version. If it's a stable one, it works fine. The symptom manifests itself with the local NFS mount directory becoming a file, losing it's directory attribute. Oddly, dselect is able to get the package files just fine. It's only when the actual install starts that it dies. Mostly before a single package is done, but occasionally a couple of packages will come through before it flops. Aside from dselect, I can NFS mount a remote directory and roam around in it at will. Dir listings seem OK. I can even copy a few small files. If I try to copy a large file, it will start, then die. Re: SuperDisk Drive [== Infos found]
Hi again ! I've had a look at the Hardware-HOWTO and found a link to the page Linux and parallel port IDE devices page : http://www.torque.net/parport/paride.html Sorry for the bother, Max Hi, I would like to know if the SuperDisk Drive is supported, and how to use it ? It's a parallel port drive using 120 Mo floppy. It can be put on the printer port drive. It's also backward compatible with 3.5inches floppies (720Ko and 1.44Mo). I installed all the packages converting the *.rpm files to *.deb files with alien. That way I could install and remove everything quite cleanly. One problem is that you must check the dependencies by yourself. Another problem is that there could be some dependencies problems with gtk, imlib and gdk-imlib if you have the corresponding debian packages installed on your system. BTW my system is a hamm one. Maybe you will have problems with a bo install due the libc6 dependencies. The tarballs are enough of a pain that I'd recommend getting the packages, now that they're out. If you hold off a few days they'll probably be on the main ftp site and have a few quirks worked out, but you could grab them from incoming now (live dangerous). I also have just become the proud owner of a Voodoo II card, an Orchid Richous 3D. Is anybody doing any development for this board, it is sooo cool, I would love to make use of it inside Debian. Does anyone know where to get the 'libgdk-imlib1' deb? - Its listed as a dependency on libgnome0 et al which I d/led from ftp.jimpick.com. Upgrade directly to hamm. The differences between 1.3 and 1.3.1 should be no problem for the autoup.sh script (it just removes all *-dev package and install new packages in the correct order). POP 3 error with my inbox
When trying to get my mail (in netscape or anything else), I get the following error: Report from server Err Maillock: 'var/spool/pop/bmorgan.pop' I've gone in and renamed bmorgan.pop to something else, and it creates another bmorgan.pop name and gives me the same error message. What can I do to unlock this mailbox? Brian PS I'm using the same computer for my POP3 email server and and my client. man pages problem
Hi, I had a problem with the man pages on my hamm system. If I tries to look at any of the man pages after nv1 I'd get an error message saying there was a hash error, I didn't keep it so I don't have the proper message but I figured I'd just remove the man pages and then reinstall. I used dselect and remove the packages related to man pages. I then selected them and tried to reinstall. I get an error when dslect is tring to get man-db_2.3.10-64.deb from dists/frozen/main/binary-i386/doc stating that No such file or dircetory. Where do I get the man-db package from. Debian 2.0 Beta Celebration tomorrow
Since Debian's hamm distribution will become 2.0 Beta on 00:00 UTC June 24th, there will of course an IRC party on irc.debian.org at that time -- its 8 p.m EDT Tuesday. And for your amusement, theres a live countdown timer at: http://www.netgod.net/ At least two CD vendors will have Gold CDRs available the same day, and hamm can be downloaded from the ftp mirrors (listed on www.debian.org). This is the last phase before final release, which will happen when 2.0 has no serious bugs. And since 30 bugs were closed last week, and only 66 remain, that can't be far off. :-) The IRC servers: irc.us.openprojects.net -- north america irc.eu.openprojects.net -- europe irc.au.openprojects.net -- austrailia The client software: http://www.irchelp.org/ The chant: D 2 D 2 D 2 ;-) - PGP E4 70 6E 59 80 6A F5 78 63 32 BC FB 7A 08 53 4C __ _Debian GNU Johnie Ingram [EMAIL PROTECTED] mm mm / /(_)_ __ _ ___ __netgod irc.debian.org mm mm / / | | '_ \| | | \ \/ / m m m / /__| | | | | |_| |Yes, I'm Linus, and I am your God. mm mm \/_|_| |_|\__,_/_/\_\ -- Linus, keynote address, Expo 98 GO BLUE -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe.
