[Résolu] controlleur usb 1.x ou 2.0 ?

2008-01-03 Thread Nicolas Folin

Impression PDF et The Gimp

lorsque j'imprime.

quelqu'un voit-il d'où cela peut-il venir?

[GNOME] Menu Applications Autre

2008-01-03 Thread David Soulayrol
Bonjour,

A non-dpkg owned copy of the libc6-i686 package was found.
 It is not safe to upgrade the C library in this situation;
please remove that copy of the C library and try again.

conflict. Or, il devrait : libc6-i686 a un pre-depend sur la libc6
correspondante

  * debhelper.in/libc.preinst: check for non-dpkg owned versions of
libc6-i686 before upgrade. Closes: #454557.

mv /lib/i686 /lib/i686.old

  A+
Vincent

socks

nos vemos.

Podrías hecharle una mirada a

nombran Enhanced Firewall support
Including built-in SOCKSV5 protocol support with authentication

snd-hda-intel model=acer no /etc/modprobe.d/sound e funcionou!

Visualmente no Gnome

compilação (gcc e companhia), as bibliotecas (.so [dinâmica] ou .a

TariFação igual a tarifação.

boot problems with the compiled kernel 2.6.23

2008-01-03 Thread tharanga Wijethilake
hi all,
I compiled the kernel 2.6.23 and did it in several ways but at each time end up
in getting the following error at the boot time.

Check root = bootarg cat /cmdline
or missing module or devices; cat /proc/modules ls dev
ALERT /dev/sda4 does not exist Dropping to shell

BusyBox..
and then it drops to (initramfs) prompt.

I
checked the commands(cat /proc/cmdline) at that point which gives me
/dev/sda4 response and my device map is also set to (hd0) /dev/sda4.
Please help me in this to solve this.l

The methods I followed were

make O=/home/tharanga/kernels/2.6.23 menuconfig
make O=...
make O=.. modules_install install

I also tried to do it in
make O=/home/tharanga/kernels/2.6.23 menuconfig

make O=...

make O=.. modules

make O=.. modules_install
make install

and
then I use mkinitrd to genarate inird.img files which was did not give
me any exceptions and then used update-initrams -c to do the same
thing which was with out any exceptions.
Then I did update-grub and
when the booting falied with that I manually edited the mnu.list file
which I double chekced and root = /dev/sda4 is correctly set. I am out
of ideas now.

can any body suggest me what should I do to for this.

Thank you very much in advance and hope one of you guys will be assisting me in
this.

I've found that if I generate an utf-8 locale it messes up the little
 arrows in mutt's index.

Sometimes the locale settings do not get passed on to mutt correctly,
depending on how mutt is started. I think the best test is to use ! to
run locale from within mutt. Does that show all settings are correct?

Also a lot of manpages don't show correctly.

That could be a terminal or font problem (see below); sometimes,
however, the manpages themselves are to blame.

I have to set LC_CTYPE to a non utf-8 locale.

But I wonder if it is also the choice of console font.

Try these simple tests:

echo -e \0303\0244

should give you an ä (lowercase a-umlaut) on a utf-8 terminal. If you
see two characters instead it means that your terminal does not use
utf-8. If you get one placeholder symbol, e.g. an empty square or a
question mark, then your font does not provide the a-umlaut character.

The a-umlaut is not a particularly fancy character, so you should also
try this:

echo -e \0342\0224\0224\0342\0224\0200\0076

should give you └─ (mutt's arrow showing a reply in a thread).

Well finally got in, followed somewhat what the other

If Hard drive is 1st boot device and CDROM is second

ODD!!

Setting labels in fstab caused many fsck errors and

everything worked fine. It seems that the partition
devices and labels showed up differently with the

Moving from WEP to WPA

2008-01-03 Thread Mark Fletcher
Hi

I have a relatively old (P3) Compaq Evo N600C laptop which I picked up
from somewhere, in which I have installed a circa-2002 PCMCIA Buffalo
802.11a/b wireless LAN card which uses the orinoco driver in the kernel.
I know that this combination of kernel, machine and laptop work since
it's been working since I first started using the laptop several months
ago, while my wireless LAN was configured to use WEP.

However, I recently replaced my wireless router with a newer one which
does 802.11g as well as a/b and supports WPA as well as WEP. I made the
necessary additions to my /etc/network/interfaces file on both my
laptops. My Toshiba laptop made the switch from WEP to WPA with the
absolute minimum of fuss. My Compaq did not.

Thinking that maybe I'd screwed up the setup somehow (I previously
upgraded the Compaq to testing, then changed my mind and went back to
etch -- result: a mess) I have just COMPLETELY WIPED AND RE-INSTALLED
ETCH from the current dvd .iso images on debian.org. I have, as a
result, a completely clean, unsullied installation. I chose to leave the
network unconfigured at install time after discovering that the
installation process doesn't support WPA, and instead configured it
manually after install. I have wpasupplicant installed. But when I try
to bring up the wireless network interface, I get this:

wpa-ssid My SSID
wpa-psk My PSK, a 13-character alphanumeric code
wpa-group CCMP,AES
wpa-pairwise CCMP,AES

auto eth1

This is the same on both laptops (except on the Toshiba, it's eth2 as
eth0 is a wired Ethernet on both machines and on the Toshiba eth1 is a
ethernet over IEEE1394 which I don't use). I've checked that the SSID
and the PSK are correct. I don't get any of those Operation Not
Supported or Invalid Argument messages on my Toshiba, which is also
running etch and is running the same kernel (stock debian 2.6.18-5 i386
kernel) as the Compaq laptop.

Clearly, however, something is different -- anyone able to help me
figure out what?

Thanks

Mark

Sometimes the locale settings do not get passed on to mutt correctly,

run locale from within mutt. Does that show all settings are correct?

You can also add

set charset=utf8

Workaround for bug 44477: xserver-xorg: Xorg crashes with nvidia proprietary driver (during allocation)

2008-01-03 Thread Hugo Vanwoerkom

Hi,

In trying to solve my mouse foibles (previous post) I upgraded
xserver-xorg-core on my Sid box.

That upgrades xorg to 7.3.

Starting X with the proprietary Nvidia driver 9631 one runs into bug 44477.

The answer that was given to that bug (don't use that driver) gets
tiresome: I don't use 9631 because I like to, but because I have to, and
we can go OT on that: nv does not compare to nvidia in most situations
but the simplest.

For those getting the message:

(EE) NVIDIA(0): = WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING =
(EE) NVIDIA(0): This server has a video driver ABI version of 2.0 but this
(EE) NVIDIA(0): driver is designed to work with versions before 2.0.
(EE) NVIDIA(0): Please check http://www.nvidia.com/ for driver
updates or

(EE) NVIDIA(0): downgrade to an X server with a supported driver ABI.
(EE) NVIDIA(0): ===

a reported workaround is starting X with the option -ignoreABI.

I'll report back if that is true.

Custom Debian CD - Problem with APT-CDROM and GPGV

2008-01-03 Thread Keyser Söze
Hi,

I'm trying to generate a custom install CD based on Etch. I've set up a
local repository with reprepro, and I've installed and adapted
simple-cdd to my needs.

Everything was working just fine until I decided to include signatures
(Release.gpg files). Now here's the problem.

When installing my custom distro with my custom CD, base-installer throws the
following error:

[...]

Copying package lists...gpgv: not a detached signature

E: Sub-process gpgv returned an error code (2)

W: Signature verification failed for /cdrom/dists/etch/Release.gpg

[...]

Of course, I've included my own keyring
(/usr/share/keyrings/debian-archive-keyring.gpg
and/etc/apt/trusted.gpg). When checking manually with gpgv (chroot
/target gpgv /cdrom/dists/etch/Release.gpg), I noticed gpgv created
/.gnupg/ and was looking for trustedkeys.gpg under that directory.

So I forced the install process to copy my keyring to that location.

Now, the manual signature check with gpgv is OK, but apt-cdrom still fails to
verify the signature.

Whatever the options I use (APT::Get::AllowUnauthenticated...) the problem
remains.

Now to my questions:

- Why does apt-cdrom fail if gpgv succeeds when launched manually???

- Why does the install process complete when the Release.gpg file is not even
present on the CD???

Thanks...

Correction: I rebooted and the usb cdrw drive is alive and well.

wodim --scanbus still reports it as device 0,0,0 but wodim --devices
finds it as dev='/dev/scd0' and the command wodim -v dev='dev/scd0'
data.iso works perfectly.

Maybe everybody else knew to use the output of wodim --devices rather
than wodim --scanbus but old habits die hard.

I've never had any trouble with the system.

 I ran out of space on /data so I've installed a 3rd drive, 750G. I've only
 got
2 SATA ports left, 3 and 4. If I plug the new drive into either one, the

 Begin: Waiting for root file system . . .. . .

(I'll note here that as soon as I unplug the SATA cable from the new drive
 and
reboot everything works again, so the original two drives file systems are
 still just fine.)

After some delay (two minutes?) I get this:

ALERT! /dev/sda2 does not exist. Dropping to a shell!

 Then I get a busybox/initramfs shell.

 ls /dev/sd* only shows:

 sda sdb sdb1 sdb2 sdc sdc1

From that I guessed that the boot order hand changed (obviously sdb now has
the swap and root partitions, and c had the 1 data partition, and a is the
 blank new drive.

So I rebooted and edited the GRUB commandline to make root=sdb2 and sure
 enough it works.

Now, I guess I /can/ use this setup, and just modify /etc/fstab so that the
thing will boot and mount properly on it's own, but I'd rather do something
to it so that it doesn't get so confused about the order of the drives. The
new drive should be sdc, and the old drives should be sda, and sdb, like they
 already were.

Is there something I can do about this? To make the new drive be sdc, I mean?

 Thanks,

 JW

Count yourself lucky.
I have a system where the sata controllers come up in random order.
sda is sometimes moved to sde.

You can only use LABEL= for ext2/ext3 filesystems. Not for swap. So when
my controllers get switched The system wont boot, drops to ramfs.

Is there no way to control the order that the sata controllers get
mapped ?

PAM failure?

2008-01-03 Thread Craig Hurley

Hello,

When looking at /var/log/auth.log PAM seems to be logging a large
amount. For example, every 30 minutes cron runs a script as root. It
appears to me that each time the script is run, PAM adds 4 entries to
auth.log, recording a the session open and close along with 2 other
failures. Here's a snip from auth.log:

Jan 3 13:30:01 hostname CRON[31753]: (pam_unix) session opened for user
root by (uid=0)
Jan 3 13:30:01 hostname pam_limits[31753]: setrlimit limit #11 to

Jan 3 13:30:01 hostname pam_limits[31753]: setrlimit limit #12 to
soft=-1, hard=-1 failed: Operation not permitted; uid=0 euid=0
Jan 3 13:30:01 hostname CRON[31753]: (pam_unix) session closed for user

Does anyone know why PAM fails twice every time a script is run from cron?

I'm running Debian 4.0.

Many thanks,

Everything was working just fine until I decided to include signatures

W: Signature verification failed for /cdrom/dists/etch/Release.gpg

Of course, I've included my own keyring

So I forced the install process to copy my keyring to that location.

Now, the manual signature check with gpgv is OK, but apt-cdrom still fails to
