support bases de données virtual openldap

2008-03-30 Thread Matthieu

bonjour a tous,

cordialement,

Ne pas voler les fils de discussion

http://www.bortzmeyer.org/ne-pas-voler-les-fils.html

* In-Reply-To
* References

Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

la réponse, la suite du fil, comprendra :

In-Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* http://xmlfr.org/listes/xml-tech/2007/09/index.html
* http://fr.groups.yahoo.com/group/Unicode-Afrique/?m=0 (le nombre de

http://quidamlinuxien.blogspot.com/
avec apt-get)

http://doc.fedora-fr.org/wiki/Installation_du_wifi_-_bcm43xx#Methode_NdisWrapper

deb http://ftp.nerim.net/debian/ lenny main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp.nerim.net/debian/ lenny main contrib non-free

# ancien dépôt :
#deb http://ftp2.fr.debian.org/debian/ lenny main contrib non-free
#deb-src http://ftp2.fr.debian.org/debian/ lenny main contrib non-free

Re: Debian Lenny, Kernel 2.6.24-1-686 b43, ssb i problemy z ndiswrapperem.

2008-03-30 Thread krondar

Lukasz Szybalski pisze:

2008/3/28 krondar [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

Witam,

Po wczorajszym dist-upgrade, mój laptopowy Lenny zyskał nowy kernel w
 wersji:
 Linux horus 2.6.24-1-686 #1 SMP Mon Feb 11 14:37:45 UTC 2008 i686
 GNU/Linux. I tu zaczęły się problemy ;)
Komputer z którego korzystam to Lenovo 3000 N100 (0768-31G), wyposażony
w kartę WiFi Broadcom 4312 (wg. lspci: 03:00.0 Network controller:
Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11a/b/g (rev 01)).
ndiswrapper'a z wyciągniętymi z windowsa driverami. Wszystko było ok -
 do wczoraj.
nadmiar czasu, postanowiłem wrócić do sprawdzonego ndiswrapper'a.
szybkość startu kompa wróciła do normy), wyrzuciłem go rmmodem, pobrałem
 ndiswrapper-source, potraktowałem go module-assistantem,
przeinstalowałem sterownik - bez efektu. Zwróciłem jednak uwagę na
 informację z ndiswrapper -l
 bcmwl5 : driver installed
device (14E4:4312) present (alternate driver: ssb)
Usunąłem więc rmmod'em ssb, ndiswrapper po czym ponownie załadowałem
 ndiswrapper.
Podziałało, dioda zamigotała - net ruszył. Dopisałem więc do blacklisty
Ponownie krótka zabawa rmmod'em i net ruszył.
I tu po przydługim wstępie właściwe pytanie ;) - Jak zablokować ssb
przed ładowaniem przy starcie? /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist jak widać nie
działa, pomimo iż dopisałem go przed b43 i po :) Sprawe rozwiązałem dość
brutalnie i prowizorycznie dopisując do /etc/rc.local
 rmmod ssb
 modprobe ndiswrapper
Jak inaczej go

potrzebujesz firmware.
Ja bym sprobowal odistalowac ndiswrapper, I przeczytac te instrukcje.

http://wiki.debian.org/bcm43xx

Lukasz

(Sorry, the
input file is either wrong or not supported by b43-fwcutter. This file
has an unknown MD5sum b89bcf0a25aeb3b47030ac83287f894a.) szukałem

albo:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/197558

rmmod ssb
rmmod ndiswrapper
modprobe ndiswrapper
modprobe ssb
No i w sumie to działa i pozwala się cieszyć WiFi :) Tylko trochę to mi
trąca prowizorką ;-) No, ale narazie musi jak widze wystarczyć ;)

Pozdrawiam,
K

http://www.fr.debian.org/releases/stable/installmanual

hecho.

La docu de debian está aquí.

http://www.fr.debian.org/doc/

Hola.

No, no estamos acostumbrados a insultar a nadie, aunque a veces ha
ocurrido.

(:

http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/4.0_r3/i386/iso-cd/debian-40r3-i386-netinst.iso

Si no has entendido el tema mal vas.

Evidentemente
será por que quieres kde cosa que alabo. 8=}

http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekly-builds/i386/iso-cd/debian-testing-i386-kde-CD-1.iso

todavía no impone gnome, juas,juas

http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/lenny_di_beta1/i386/iso-cd/debian-testing-i386-netinst.iso

has bajado un DVD.

instalados, paquetes no instalados etc...

possua acesso a rede (internet).

Entende?

Obrigado,

Nei Moreira

just like the old days (TeTeX to TeXLive)

2008-03-30 Thread Jim McCloskey

Lord, so I decided to upgrade my laptop (a Lenovo T60) to
testing/lenny so as to try out TeXLive and suddenly found myself in
one of those linux weekends of long ago (which I've never been sure if
I missed or not) when you're up to the wee hours searching through the
archives of mailing-lists, and hand-compiling kernel modules, and
re-writing beautifully hand-crafted configuration files and so on.

The upgrade to Xorg meant that my ATI card would no longer do direct
rendering; so I upgraded to the 2.6.24 kernel and that fixed
the problem with direct rendering, but now none of my wireless cards
(all of which worked beautifully before) work at all.

But the problem I'm most anxious to solve at present has to do with
the change from TeTeX to TeXLive.

I have some fonts hand-installed in /usr/local/share/texmf/fonts/
(Adobe Minion) which I use more or less constantly. All worked very
well before, but following the upgrade, TeX can no longer find
them. Or to be more exact, dvips (or xdvi or pdflatex) calls kpathsea,
which calls mktexpk, which complains:

don't know how to create bitmap font for
LY1-MinionPro-BoldDisp-kern-liga-onum-base

The fonts are installed in /usr/local/share/texmf/fonts and
/usr/local/share/texmf/ is the value of $TEXLOCAL.

Previous upgrades (within the tetex framework) have always handled
this without difficulty.

Is there a kind soul here who could point me in a useful direction
with this problem? Is there something very different as between TeTeX
and TeXLive about how locally installed fonts are handled?

Thanks very much,

Jim McCloskey

Often, what is meant is that a particular /series/ is supported by a
driver or program. I cannot be 100% sure without having tested, but on
the HP printers, I would feel good about buying, say a D7160, because it
is a D7100 series printer.

Also, HP has been known to give the same printer slightly different
model numbers to let retailers, e.g. Best Buy, say that that model is an
exclusive that can only be found at that retailer. In reality, you
can get the same or virtually the same printer at Circuit City or Fry's
under a slightly different model number.

Take this information with the required number of salt grains.

Problems with sata_sil

2008-03-30 Thread Martin Hucht
Hi everyone,

I hope this wasn't coverd in the past, but I couldn't find anything.

I installed an etch on a machine, which has a new SATA Controller. lspci
tells me this about the device:
00:09.0 RAID bus controller: Silicon Image, Inc. SiI 3114
[SATALink/SATARaid] Serial ATA Controller (rev 02)

My mainboard is an Gygabyte GA-7IXE4.

Etch recognizes the controller during hardware detection, but when the
module sata_sil gets loaded, I get this output:

sata_sil :00:09.0: version 2.0
ACPI: PCI Interrupt Link [LNKB] enabled at IRQ 11

sata_sil: probe of :00:09.0 failed with error -16

I don't know if I am doing anything wrong, or if this is a bug. I changed
PCI Slots, but this doesn't help either.

Any hints?

drive(s) and tried to boot from it/them. It is, however, not clear to
  me
whether it would see two separate drives under these conditions or one
  drive with hardware RAID working.

If you want to investigate this further then you probably have to
  switch
your entire setup to using partition labels or UUIDs, to be imune to
  the
effects of /dev/hd? reshuffling (or try a liveCD as I suggested
  earlier).

I'll try (later this w/end) the LiveCD - the idea being that it may have
more (modern?) drivers and thus deal with it?

Yes, and that it will always boot from the CD, irrespective of how many
drives are recognized for given BIOS setting. It seems to me that the
drive(s) attached to the promise controller were recognized in your last
experiment, but this unfortunately meant that Grub saw a different order
of drives, therefore it did not know where to find your root partition
 anymore.

To illustrate this more concretely, let's say that your root partition
is on the first partition of the first hard disk. This normally means
that GRUB was installed on the master boot record of this drive and that
GRUB is configured to look for the /boot/grub directory on (hd0,0) to
bring up the system. (GRUB counts from zero, so 0,0 is first drive,
first partition.) Everything worked fine, until you changed the BIOS
setting and the FastTrak-attached drives were suddenly recognized. The
Promise controller has a lower PCI address than the VIA controller; this
gives you a new (hd0) and the disk with your root partition is now
(hd1) or even (hd2). The BIOS will normally still find the old MBR,
simply because it can try all attached drives until it comes across one
that can boot at all, but GRUB gets lost looking for /boot/grub on the
new (hd0,0), especially if the new drive has not even been partitioned
 yet.

This means that you will have to reconfigure GRUB in the long run, but
right now a liveCD is probably the quickest means to see what exactly is
going on and what is possible at all. (You can also enter the correct
new root designation directly at the GRUB prompt, but the liveCD has
indeed the added benefit of showing you if things improve with a newer

I think this article sums up the probs I've been seeing:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-hardware-18/solution-for-promise-fasttrack-pdc20378-pata-or-raid-with-2.6.17-kernel-478926/

Indeed if I book from GPARTed 0.3.4-8 liveCD it states sata_promise
PATA port found and shows me the disks (albeit as sda, sdb)... so maybe
that uses a patched sata_promise module?

I also see that Ubuntu are (if I read it right) going to include PATA
support for sata_promise:
http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/l/linux-source-2.6.20/linux-source-2.6.20_2.6.20-15.27/changelog
(search for sata_promise eg at section: linux-source-2.6.20 (2.6.20-8.14)
feisty; urgency=low)

So perhaps Debian will ship a kernel with PATA support in sata_promise??

bits/news from the users of Debian?

2008-03-30 Thread Paul Wise
Hi all,

[Please CC me in all replies]

We've had bits from the DPL (Debian Project Leader)[1][2], bits from the
release team[3], bits from the listmasters[4] and bits from other people
and groups within Debian[5][6][7][8][9]. Bits from someone simply
means interesting news and other information from some person or group
of people in Debian.

Since one of Debian's priorities is our users, I'd like to see a bits
from the users on d-d-a (debian-devel-announce). I also had the thought
of a separate email for developers only on d-p (debian-private) and
perhaps a presentation at DebConf 8 in August. So, I'm gathering your
thoughts for these mails and the possible presentation.

If you are using Debian on your phone, embedded computer, laptop,
desktop, server, network, telecommunications equipment or other part of
your information infrastructure, I'd love to hear from you.

When replying, tell me anything you want to, but if you can't think of
anything, here are some ideas to get you started:

What are you using Debian for? Recording your band's latest songs?
Making valentines for someone? Or powering a spy satellite to take
high-res photos of the Colombian drug boats off the coast of Nicaragua?
Do you have a project (big or small) made with Debian you'd like to show
off? Even if you think its trivial or uninteresting, we want to hear
about it! Using Debian for keeping track of your socks might seem
uninteresting to you, but... What cool package(s) are you using? Did you
buy a beverage for a Debian contributor at DebConf? Are you using
packages from a general area of Debian (science, games, development,
servers)? What about Debian do you think needs changing - do you have
any specific gripes? Is there a specific package that needs to be
maintained better? Do you have the popularity-contest package installed
and working? If not, why not? Are you missing certain packages that are
not available in Debian, were removed from Debian or are not available
in the last stable release (etch)? Why are you using Debian rather than
RHEL/Fedora/CentOS, Gentoo, Ubuntu, MacOS or Windows (or the other way
around)? Are you making a living using or customising or deploying
Debian? What are your plans for using Debian in the future? Did your
Debian wishlist for 2007 come true? What is your Debian wishlist for
2008? What does Debian mean to you? In what ways do you or do you intend
to contribute to Debian and free software in general? How can we help
you to contribute to Debian or free software in general?

In your replies, please indicate which parts are for debconf, d-d-a or
d-p. Please also indicate if you would like to remain anonymous, want
your comments attributed to you or don't care either way. I'll read all
public and private replies and make summaries for d-d-a and d-p.
Depending on the number of replies and my real life situation, it
might take a while to write up, so please be patient.

I'm unfortunately monolingual, so if you would like to translate this
mail to your language and translate replies from users to English and
send them to me, please feel free to post it to the non-English user
lists/forums.

Please explain what you are trying to achieve. GTK is a library used by
various programs. If a Debian program requires the library it will get
 installed automatically by apt(itude).

If you want to compile some program you need some specific packages, not
the runtime libraries, so please explain what you are trying to do.

I'm trying to compile the first program from GTK+ 2.0 Tutorial located in
the GNOME Documentation Library on the gnome.org website. The source code
is as follows;

#include gtk/gtk.h

int main(int argv, char *argv[])
{
GtkWidget
*window;

gtk_init(argc, argv)

window = gtk_window_new(GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL);
gtk_widget_show(window);

gtk_main();

return 0;
}

The command (also from the same place) is;
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/tut$ gcc base.c 'pkg-config --cflags --libs gtk+-2.0'

The response I get from the compiler is;
gcc: pkg-config --cflags --libs gik+-2.0: no such file or directory
base.c:1:21: error: gtk/gtk.h: No such file or directory
base.c:3: error: conflicting types for 'argv'
base.c:3: error: previous definition of 'argv' was here
base.c: in function 'main':

base.c:8: error: 'argc' undeclared (first use in this function)
base.c:10: error: expected ';' before 'window'

The first line seems to indicate that I'm missing the whole package.

can OpenSSH be different when using it in a terminal window than on a console

So it IS different. I deleted /tmp/ssh-pscjC23970 which is not created when

  Konsole.

/tmp/ssh-pscjC23970 is a socket file created by ssh-agent(1). It
seems that KDE starts ssh-agent, while that doesn't happen when you
login. Anyway, ssh look for a running ssh-agent by reading the
variable SSH_AUTH_SOCK; this is setup by KDE when it launches
ssh-agent, while in the console there is no such variable (or, if
there, refers to a different instance). This explains the different
behavior, but why ssh hangs when connecting to ssh-agent I don't know.

purged) 2.6.18-5-486 kernel in favor of 2.6.24-1-686. After running a
update-initramfs -u and a shutdown -r now my box fails to boot up.
  It

Failed to create lvm type filter
Waiting for root file system ...

... which my box never gets. Hereafter it throws me to a very limited
  shell.
   Indeed, /proc and /dev are empty ;(

Hey wow! I'm seeing this too (though i can boot). I thought it was
from moving to an amd64 kernel on i386 userland. But apparently
not. It seems that the initrd environment is broken at the moment. I'm
not sure, maybe it's ash (I think that's the initrd shell) that's
  broken.

You'll notice that this limited shell (busybox) doesn't function
properly -- ls doesn't exist for example. But you can fake it with
`busybox cmd` to get it to execute. So, for example, to get an ls of
the current directory, use `busybox ls` and there it will be.

So to boot this thing, you need to duplicate the processes that happen
in the initrd phase. This means you need to activate your lvm and
possible any encrypted stuff (if you have encryption as well, let me
know and we'll work through that).

to activate lvm, do this from the busybox shell:

  vgchange -ay name-of-volume-group

  -ay for activate yes essentially.

this will create your volume group in /dev/mapper. Check it with

  busybox ls /dev/mapper

if that's working, then you should be able to just

  exit

the busybox shell and your boot should continue.

Essentially, certain necessary functions are missing from the initrd
causing these scripts to fail. It should be fairly simple for you to
get booted, and once that's done just stay up until a fix comes
through, or keep track of what you did to successfully boot so you can
  reproduce it.

And this warrants a bug report, if one doesn't exist
already. hmmm... a little quick searching doesn't reveal anything
specific. I would file it with initramfs-tools as they know who get's
included in the initrd and can forward it on if required.

 Hi Andrew,

I'm not able to activate lvm from within busybox, a vgchange -ay group0
 gives me:
/proc/mounts: fopen %s failed: No such file or directory
/proc/devices: fopen failed: No such file or directory
Failed to create lvm type filter

/proc and /dev (except /dev/console) are empty like the ocean.

I think you're right: My initrd is really f'd up. The first lines I
 noticed during boot up:
/init: line 11: mount: not found
cat: can't open '/proc/cmdline': No such file or directory
 ...
/scripts/init-top/framebuffer: line 100: mknod: not found
 ...
/init: line 157: printf: not found
 ...

I took a look at the initramfs-tools bug page and couldn't find any
similar reports. I'll do some further investigations (need to know how
 initramfs works in detail).

 Benjamin

Okay, I got it.

My bad. I purged the running kernel while installing the new one, which
leaves my initrd image broken and the system unbootable. Well, I did this
every time without problems... until Wednesday.

So the correct procedure is to install the new kernel first, then reboot
with the new one and finally purge the old one.

Next time I do such a stunt, I'll examine the contents of the initrd first.
Cheers anyway!

Can't set font color in open office?

Can we run a qemu instance as a dedicated home network firewall?

2008-03-30 Thread Mitchell Laks
Can we use a virtual qemu linux machine as a firewall for
a real home network?

I have a small network at home, with a few desktops and a DMZ and
a linux firewall machine.

Now that virtualization is working for me, via qemu, I would like to get rid
of all the old equipment that I use for little tasks.

Ie I have
1) old 486 machine F used as dedicated arno-firetables firewall.
2) old 486 machine D used as dedicated web server in DMZ.
3) plus a few workstations on a LAN call them A, B C.

Internet - firewall machine F - local LAN -machines A, B, C
   - DMZ -web server on D

1. Here F does NAT for machines A, B, C on 192.168.100.* .
2. While F gets an outside internet IP via dhcp from my cable provider.
3. F has 2 physical NIC cards.

My question is:
Can I replace F (and D) by virtual machines running on one of my desktop
machines A?

Thus internet traffic for A would not go out of the NIC directly,
it would rather go through
an internal virtual network to the virtual guest Firewall machine (called F)
, where F would get its full Internet IP from my cable modem provider,
and it F, would then do NAT for the machine A.

Thus there would might be 2 physical NICs on A, ?neither of which would
actually be used by A. Both NICs would be bridged to F, to two internal
vde_switches running on A one connected to the
cable modem via NIC1 and the second NIC2 connected
to a physical hub outside the workstation A so that
other workstation machines B and C could also use the virtual machine F
as their firewall.

A itself would connect via the local LAN network to F (its guest), by
a virtual NIC (or real NIC, or socket).

So, is it possible,
ie: does it make sense,

ie to run a virtual machine to actually
function as a firewall for the HOST itself? And to do NAT for the host.

Clearly this would be with VDE.

Thus we would have

Machine A (the Host machine) running linux
(with 2 NIC cards which would later be bridged to the
vde switchs.)

Machine A would be a full distribution install with a full workstation
capability.

Now Machine A would not be configured to connect directly to the internet
because we would want it to be firewalled by a virtual machine.

We set up a vde_switch on A.

Then we would bring up a qemu instance F (for firewall).

...

Thank you,

Mitchell Laks

Cron Daemon backup message too big

2008-03-30 Thread Haines Brown
For a long time I've done back ups by having cron run a script
regularly. At a certain point (can't recall the circumstances) that
ceased to work, and I've had to initiate the backups by hand.

What happens is that Cron Daemon sends me a message that reports backup
progress, That is, I suppose there is one line in the message for every
file backed up. However, at a certain point, the message gets too big
and the backup terminates. I get a message from cron to the effect,
mail failure - message too big.

My guess is that I am exceeding the message size limit in exim (default
is 50Mb). I suppose I could simply configure exim to accept larger
messages by having:

  message_size_limit = 500 MB

(not sure of syntax here), but I'd prefer that cron simply not send me
messages for this job. Is there any way I can modify my backup script to
tell cron to be silent or to send its report instead to a temporary log
file?

Could you tell me where samba stores this information.

The list is usually in the file /etc/samba/smbpasswd but the
recommended way to retrieve it is by running pdbedit -L.

The first line seems to indicate that I'm missing the whole package.

No, you're missing the development package. Run

 # apt-get install libgtk2.0-dev

 to get it.

Actually, there were a number of stupid typos in the source and in yhe
command line. Plus, I thought I had installed the 'gnome-devel' package,
but hadn't. Everything now runs without a hitch. Thanks all for the support
and the understanding.

most lightweight debian server

2008-03-30 Thread paragasu
i have a small vps with only 64MB memory. i am trying to run a costume made
PHP
scripts in there but i have trouble. when i install mysql server 5.0 and
apache2 server.
it is so slow. in fact too slow. thus two server already use about 170MB of
the server ram.
more than twice the RAM allocated for me.

so, i want to know, any combination that use the most efficient server
resource. currently,
i am thinking of using lighttpd server + php5 + sqlite3 ..
but, my application currently use mysql5+apache2+php5. it will be a lot of
work to do
before i can get it online. in fact i use about 6 month to code it.

well, assume i don't have enough money to buy a better server. it is
possible to make a
very fast server with compiling the source code etc..

thank you

i use debian etch.
