RE: Προδιαγραφές μαθ ητικών Netbooks

Onde começo a procurar? Nesta maquina tambem tenho um gravador de dvd SATA, funcionando perfeitamente, identificado como /dev/sr0 obrigado Vinicius -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-portuguese-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. 2009/10/1 surreal firewal...@gmail.com: This might seem lame but still, I would like to know about compiling a custom kernel using debian lenny. the usual /usr/src/linux-2.6.N/make menuconfig;make ;make modules_install;make bzImage;make install dosent seem to work. It only copies vmlinux* and bzImage file into /boot, but initrd and img files are missing.. why? The above method used to work perfectly in RH derived distros, in debian it seems diff... Re: How to compile and install the kernel
2009/10/1 surreal firewal...@gmail.com: Thanks, I read that, compiled the kernel and its working. But now I have a problem. The kernel deb file gets installed, but it has got the same name ie Debian Kernel 2.6.26 in /boot/grub/menu.lst.. I want to have the customized kernel name as default, any way to do this? The following information from the article will help you To build the kernel you'll invoke make-kpkg, a script which automates and replaces the sequence make dep; make clean; make bzImage; make modules. Take a few minutes and read over the manual page for make-kpkg. The make-kpkg command line can be complex and at first intimidating. Its basic syntax is bash:/usr/src$ make-kpkg options target Your target will be kernel_image. Let's examine two of the more important and common options, --append-to-version and --revision. --append-to-version The first option lets you specify an addition to the kernel version, which then becomes part of the kernel's name. You may use alphanumeric characters, + and . (period or full stop); do not use underscore _. Here's the kernel I'm running now: bash:/usr/src$ /usr/src/$ uname -a Linux da5id 2.6.8.1-2-k7 #1 Sat Sep 18 11:23:11 BST 2004 i686 GNU/Linux You should avoid using --append-to-version values such as -686, -K7, and -sparc. They are commonly used for Debian pre-compiled kernels. Kernel modules live in subdirectories of /lib/modules; each kernel has its own subdirectory. Every time you install a kernel image with a new name, the package installer creates a new subdirectory of /lib/modules to hold its modules. This means that by using a new value for --append-to-version each time you build a kernel image, you can ensure that the new kernel will have a new name, and that its modules won't conflict with those of other kernels. /!\ If you install a kernel with the same name (the same version and --append-to-version) as an already-installed kernel, installing the new kernel package will overwrite the old kernel and its modules. You will be warned and offered the chance to abort. Take it. Use another value for --append-to-version and rebuild. --revision Another make-kpkg option is --revision, which affects the name of the Debian package itself but not the kernel name. As with --append-to-version, you may use only alphanumeric characters, + and .. Do not use underscores _. If you do not supply a value for --revision, make-kpkg will use 10.00.Custom. Using different values of --revision will not prevent conflicts between kernels with the same name. They are just for you to see the difference, for example recompiling the same kernel with a very small change. Kernel package names Debian kernel-image file names have the form kernel-image-(kernel-version)(--append-to-version)_(--revision)_(architecture).deb The package name is everything before the first underscore. bash:/usr/src$ ls kernel-image-2.6.8.1.181004_10.00.Custom_i386.deb Now you can see why underscores are not allowed in make-kpkg options ? they separate the elements of package names. I recommend using a different --append-to-version value for each kernel you compile, and letting make-kpkg assign the default revision. Date-based values work for me, but you are free to invent your own scheme. {i} Please read /usr/share/doc/kernel-package/README.gz if --append-to-version or --revision is unclear, or if you plan on using options different from the ones I suggest. (One way to do this is zless README.gz.) Ignore the discussions of flavours and epochs until you are more familiar with make-kpkg and with Debian packages generally; they are not likely to be useful to you now. fakeroot -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. xemacs crash caused by near-simultaneous keystrokes
On a recent Debian Lenny installation on an amd64 system, Xemacs crashes constantly. The crashes appear to be caused by the near-simultaneous pressing of two keys. I am able to avoid crashing Xemacs only if I type very slowly and carefully so as to hit only one key at a time. This is not a problem on an i386 system running Etch. The amd64 is the only machine I have running Lenny. I never have run Etch on the amd64 machine. RLH -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. debdelta servers
Hi I recently discover the debdelta package and wonder, if anyone else using it, has found any other servers that support it? It does save me some $$ by keeping my downloads below my monthly limit but the one server, run by the maintainer, does not have a large number of the .debdelta available. I have search for other servers but for some reason it seems that it has not been integrated into the Debian system yet. Re: Re: free alternative acroread
IIUC this feature scalestranslates the document so as to minimize the margin (and hence maximize the size of the printed text, without cropping). Yes, that's it. If that's the case, no I sadly don't know of a Free Software tool that does that for you. Sad news. I would love to see a tool that does this automatically for me (especially if it can do it for 2-up as well). Me too :-) Fundamentally, it shouldn't be that hard. IIUC running the PS (or PDF) file through gs -dSAFER -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -sDEVICE=bbox should return the needed info about area actual used by the document, after which it should be easy to scale/translate/rotate to make it fit on a page of any given size. But I never got around to trying it out. Would be nice, if somebody could take this up ... Re: can exim reject all mail for one recipient?
Girish Kulkarni skrev: On Wed, 30 Sep 2009, Ric Otte wrote: I believe it is bad to use procmail to reject mail, ... Why is that? You got a link with a good technical explanation in another reply. The importance of that info may not be apparent if you are not familiar with how email works. Let me try an analogy. Imagine email is just like regular mail exept that everything is delivered by the sender in person to a local post-office, which runs a truck with the mail to the recipient's local post-office. All recipients pick up their mail at their local post-office. A mail-server is a post-office. Every time mail enters a post-office, it puts a Received line on the envelope, latest at the top. Say you go pick up all your mail and bring it home to sort at the kitchen-table. The kitchen-table is procmail. You find junk-mail in the pile on your kitchen-table and label it return to sender and bring it back to the post-office. On the internet all junk-mail in practice has forged sender address, so some innocent soul will get his mail-box filled with returns that are actually not from him. The better way to deal with junk-mail is to have your local post-office simply refuse any mail from dubious commercial mass-mailers. That way innocent by-standers are protected, and resources taken by bringing the junk all the way to your kitchen-table are saved. If the mail was in fact not junk, the real sender will be notified by his own local post-office of the failure, because local post-offices will usually notify local customers when their truck was unable to deliver. The recipient's post-office can in some cases even inspect the contens of the mail WHILE THE DELIVERY VAN IS WAITING and say No thanks. This is the stage of delivery postfix calls Before-queue, and you want to reject as much as possible at this stage, before the mail is put into your P.O.Box. Postfix can also mark mail to be filtered, in effect have a clerk go over the mail that is to be put into your P.O.Box after the delivery truck has left. At this stage postfix can bounce stuff back to the sender (REJECT action), but usually it is not advisable to do so. Just let postfix drop it on the floor (DISCARD action). I imagine exim has similar options. P.S: One effective way to send out loads of spam, is to send it to non-existant adresses hosted on innocent, but misconfigured, mail-servers. This misguided, old-fashioned post-office will then proceed to deliver the entire mail back to the sender in its own misguided mind, while it actually is helping spread spam by using its good name and delivery system to deliver the spam mail to a third party. In this day and age incompetence is actually just another name for evil, and such old-timers will be summarliy put into a lot of RBL-lists. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Yes Evolution (at least in Testing/Unstable) works with Google web services. There's a menu for Google when setting up e-mail/calendar. That alone is was the clincher for me to switch to it from Outlook 2007. This moves the thread in a slightly different direction, but one of the things that I haven't figured out with Evolution is how to work with remote calendars when I am offline. I run my calendar on a remote caldav server and connect to it using Evolution. I have the option Copy calendar contents locally for offline operation ticked, but this doesn't seem to make any difference. If I am not connected to the internet, I can't work with my calendar. Ideally, I'd like to be able to see my events and add to them when I'm offline, then have evolution synchronise when I reconnect to the net. Does anyone hae a solution to this? cheers dc -- David Purton dcpur...@marshwiggle.net For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. 2 Chronicles 16:9a signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Gelukkig staat er ook dit: How do I log in from two machines at once? You can only have one gconfd accessing a given configuration source at the same time. This means you need to share the same gconfd between the two machines. This Just Works, with two common catches: * You have a firewall between the machines. * For security reasons, remote CORBA connections are normally disabled by default. To enable remote CORBA connections, add the line ORBIIOPIPv4=1 to /etc/orbitrc and then restart gconfd using gconftool-2 --shutdown. Is het proberen waard, lijkt me.
