Problème avec les outils google

2010-08-12 Thread Yannick Beynet
Bonjour,

Tu as tenté Chromium ?

 beep -f 300.7 -r 2 -d 100 -l 400
fonctionne

depuis un container :
  beep -f 300.7 -r 2 -d 100 -l 400
   Could not open /dev/tty0 or /dev/vc/0 for writing
   open: No such file or directory

  fetchmail[1709]: connection to localhost:smtp [::1/25] failed: Connection
  refused

  MTA/exim4 , MDA/procmail, MRA/fetchmail, MUA/mutt

Tu as peut-être mis
 127.0.0.1 pour qu'il n'écoute qu'en local ? Dans ce cas il faudrait
 ajouter ::1 à la liste.

Buenas tardes

algo indiferente ( corregidme si me equivoco). Con esta búsqueda:

http://www.google.es/#hl=essource=hpq=debian+compartir+internetaq=faqi=g1aql=oq=gs_rfai=fp=bce1ecca9e389903

http://crysol.org/node/96

 #!/bin/sh

 INTERFACE=eth2 # Interfaz de salida a inet.

 echo 1  /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
 iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o ${INTERFACE} -j MASQUERADE

las directivas post-up del '/etc/network/interfaces' (man interfaces)

Section InputDevice
Identifier Mouse0
Driver synaptics
Option Protocol auto
Option Device /dev/psaux
Option Emulate3Buttons no
Option ZAxisMapping 4 5
Option TapButton1 1
Option SpecialScrollAreaRight true
Option VertEdgeScroll true
Option VertTwoFingerScroll true
EndSection

options psmouse proto=imps

Reinicias el equipo y está.

[ Testando ] Instalar o Debian de um pendriver

2010-08-12 Thread Diác . Moretti
Oi Pessoal!

Olhando uma sugestão de colega:
http://www.eriberto.pro.br/wiki/index.php?title=Como_instalar_o_Debian_a_partir_de_pendrive

verdade.

Após os testes informo o resultado.

Agradeço a ajuda.

 autenticação esteja suscetível a isso, o ataque seria inviável.

Netbooks HP/Compac X Samsung no Debian

2010-08-12 Thread Eder S. G. (JORDAN)

digitar textos no OpenOffice.org. Por favor, se alguém poderia
relatar a utilização do Debian GNU Linux nestes netbooks?

No mais, desejo-lhes uma excelente sexta-feira!

FÉ, SAÚDE, HONRA e PAZ!

Atenciosamente,

exploram nenhuma vulnerabilidade do MD5.

I'm trying to restrict access in /etc/security/access.conf based on

I tried escaping with \ or quoting, but it didn't seem to work. Any idea

Thanks,

 It is somewhat confusing to see a disk labeled like spare when it is

 If this is the case, the only thing I can think of is that after the
 first disk failure, the system was in interim recovery mode, and during
 it, the second disk would have failed.

I cannot analyse this further from remote. If you are still

Mmm, couldn't be that here apply the same restrictions as for usernames?

BTW, man groupadd says:

***
CAVEATS

It is usually recommended to only use usernames that begin with a lower
case letter or an underscore, and are only followed by lower case letters,
digits, underscores, dashes, and optionally terminated by a dollar sign.
In regular expression terms: [a-z_][a-z0-9_-]*[$]?

On Debian, the only constraints are that usernames must neither start
with a dash (´-´) nor contain a colon (´:´) or a whitespace (space:´ ´,
end of line: ´\n´, tabulation: ´\t´, etc.).

Groupnames may only be up to 32 characters long.

You may not add a NIS or LDAP group. This must be performed on the
corresponding server.

If the groupname already exists in an external group database such as NIS
or LDAP, groupadd will deny the group creation request.
***

P.S. That man page seems to have an error. When it reads username I
guess it should be groupnames, instead :-?

 If it is your own machine then you should certainly be in the 'src'
 group and then you would have access to /usr/src as your own normal
 user self. And if you don't know about src then you probably don't
 know about 'staff' and 'adm' either. The staff group gets you access
 to /usr/local and adm gets you read-only browsing capability to
 /var/log/*. You probably want all three.

   $ sudo adduser zlinuxman adm
   $ sudo adduser zlinuxman src
   $ sudo adduser zlinuxman staff

 Then log out. At login you will be set to those additional groups.
 With those in place you can work as yourself in those areas. Safer
 than using root since as yourself you can't smash anything in the
 system directories /etc or /bin or /var or other system locations.
 This makes installing local software through 'make install' much safer
 and more contained when not done as root. If one were to crawl out of
 /usr/local for example you would see the failure. If you were running
 as root then you would not.

I do know about groups, but I don't necessarily know the intended
purpose of all of the pre-defined groups in a Linux system. Where
can I find documentation for that?

Still, I should have noticed that the /usr/src directory was owned
by user root and by group src. For some reason, I never made that
connection. That's a great tip, thanks. I will have to play around
with this. If I can get everything to work, then the next revision
of my kernel building web page will be revised accordingly.

Aha, I didn't know that it was so restrictive.
But actually, I'm lucky, I had read access.conf(5), but overlooked this
in pam_access(8), which specifically covers my case:

 listsep=separators
 This option modifies the list separator character that pam_access
 will recognize when parsing the access configuration file. For
 example: listsep=, will cause the default ‘ ´ (space) and ‘\t´
 (tab) characters to be treated as part of a list element value and
 ‘,´ becomes the only list element separator. Doing this may be
 useful on a system with group information obtained from a Windows
 domain, where the default built-in groups Domain Users, Domain
 Admins contain a space.

Which proves once again if it was needed that one needs to always RTFM a
little bit more :-)

Thanks,

Laurent

Any package instillation breaks libraries.

2010-08-12 Thread jeremy jozwik
I am having a very annoying issue at the moment. any time i install a
package via apt / synaptic / aptitude my internet connection fails.

this issue is beyond me. but so far i have narrowed it down to the
shared libraries folders going bad. i have a stable backup of my
system that i have been copying over to my machine each time it fails.
frist was a full system restore except /home. next i restored only
/etc /lib /lib32 /lib64 and /usr.
this latest restore i only copied the libraries in /lib /lib32 /lib64
and the usr folder libs.

can anyone help me move past this issue. i dont know how installing
some random package could destroy lib used by the internet connection
or iceweasel. how can i avoid this issue and still be able to install
packages?

all packages are being pulled from the debian lenny repository...

This depends on how the computer is used, I suppose. On personal
desktops/laptops, giving intruders access to these groups is the least
of your worries, because your private data are 1000 times more
sensitive.

The kernel releases are cryptographically signed¹, and it is certainly a

Re: 2 packages with the same file

2010-08-12 Thread spam . spam . spam . spam
Hello,

If I create a package with the same file than an other package which is already
installed on my computer, I can't install it. But when I download a package with
the same file than an other package which is already installed on my computer, I
can install it.

Now I prove it :

I have 2 packages with the same file :
-nvidia-glx
-xserver-xorg-core

The file is : /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so

We can see it doing :
$ apt-file list nvidia-glx
$ apt-file list xserver-xorg-core
or :
$ dpkg -c nvidia-glx_173.14.09-5_i386.deb
$ dpkg -c xserver-xorg-core_1.4.2-10.lenny2_i386.deb

When I try to install these two packages, it works :
$ sudo dpkg -i nvidia-glx_173.14.09-5_i386.deb
(Reading database ... 87860 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace nvidia-glx 173.14.09-5 (using
nvidia-glx_173.14.09-5_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement nvidia-glx ...
Setting up nvidia-glx (173.14.09-5) ...
$ sudo dpkg -i xserver-xorg-core_1.4.2-10.lenny2_i386.deb
(Reading database ... 87860 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace xserver-xorg-core 2:1.4.2-10.lenny2 (using
xserver-xorg-core_1.4.2-10.lenny2_i386.deb) ...
Unpacking replacement xserver-xorg-core ...
Setting up xserver-xorg-core (2:1.4.2-10.lenny2) ...
Processing triggers for man-db ...

So, I create my own package with this file :
$ mkdir -p mypkg/DEBIAN
$ touch mypkg/DEBIAN/control
$ gvim mypkg/DEBIAN/control
$ mkdir -p mypkg/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions
$ ln -s foo.so mypkg/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so
$ sudo chown -R root:root mypkg/
$ dpkg-deb --build mypkg

The content of the DEBIAN/control file is :
Package: mypkg
Version: 20100810
Description: This is my package.
Architecture: i386
Maintainer: Mr. X

When I try to install this package, it doesn't works :
$ sudo dpkg -i mypkg.deb$ sudo dpkg -i mypkg.deb
(Reading database ... 87860 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking mypkg (from mypkg.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing mypkg.deb (--install):
 trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so', which is also
in package xserver-xorg-core
Errors were encountered while processing:
 mypkg.deb

Why can I install nvidia-glx package and I can't install mypkg package?

Thank you.

 It'd probably help. You don't have to (well, shouldn't have to)
 permanantly change your locale to do it, just:

export LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8

 do your stuff, and

unset LC_ALL

 to go back to French.

That was really a shot in the dark with that statement. I had hoped
someone with more insight would chime in with more information. Anyways,
my thought was that modification time on UNIX filesystems were different
in way that rsync fails to preserve the modification time when copying
to vfat.

An easy way to check this would be to compare the modification times of
the two copies.

   When transferring to FAT filesystems rsync may re-sync unmodified
   files. See the comments on the --modify-window option.

And, the comment on the --modify-window option:

--modify-window
  When comparing two timestamps, rsync treats the timestamps as
  being equal if they differ by no more than the modify-window
  value. This is normally 0 (for an exact match), but you may
  find it useful to set this to a larger value in some situations.
  In particular, when transferring to or from an MS Windows FAT
  filesystem (which represents times with a 2-second resolution),
  --modify-window=1 is useful (allowing times to differ by up to 1
  second).

In fact, adding the option `--modify-window=2' seems to solve the problem.
However I wish to better understand the problem and to understand what I'm
doing. When listing files with `ls --full-time', no difference at all is shown
between pc and pendrive. So, why and what does `--modify-window' work for?

Thanks for any help
Rodolfo

That was really a shot in the dark with that statement. I had hoped
someone with more insight would chime in with more information. Anyways,
my thought was that modification time on UNIX filesystems were different
in way that rsync fails to preserve the modification time when copying
to vfat.

An easy way to check this would be to compare the modification times of
the two copies.

From the rsync(1) man page:

   --modify-window
  When comparing two timestamps, rsync treats the timestamps as
  being equal if they differ by no more than the modify-window

 In rsync man page, I found the following:

When transferring to FAT filesystems rsync may re-sync unmodified

 And, the comment on the --modify-window option:

 --modify-window

It is explained here:

http://www.samba.org/rsync/FAQ.html

Another common cause involves sending files to an Microsoft filesystem: if
the file's modified time is an odd value but the receiving filesystem can
only store even values, then rsync will re-transfer too many files. You can
avoid this by specifying the --modify-window=1 option.

and confirmed here:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=886048

Apart from the fact that I can't understand how it's possible for a filesystem
to be unable to store odd numeric values!, the ls command with the --full-time
option shows to me that the timestamps are identical on both the source and the
destination: so, how can this odd-even difference be detected?

Contributes welcome

Many internal modems are not supported in Linux because they require
firmware to be loaded to the modem by the driver (i.e., the kernel) and
this firmware is not available. You should determine if your modem is
one with or without a Linux driver and/or firmware support.

There is always a risk associated with *everything*. The only truly
secure computer is one that has had the following procedure applied
to it.

  http://www.roseweb.de/caro/pages/security/v-one/cut-orig.htm

 My uninformed opinion is that it's a question of relative risk; the
 'risk' involved in building kernels as root, versus the risk
 involved in giving access to these dirs and tools should your
 account become compromised.

My experience is that accidents cause problems much more often than
active intrusions. Security is certainly important. But more
important for me is to create an environment that enables productive
use of the system while limiting the risk caused by accidents from
authorized users. Safety nets against accidents are very useful.

If you are yourself (non-root) working on a tool that you own in
/usr/local/bin/foo and while testing make a mistake and get a message
that you can't read/write/remove a file in /etc when you meant
/usr/local/etc then there isn't any harm done. You know what you did
and that it isn't a problem (since you are non-root and have no
permissions to /etc) and you fix your error and move on. But if you
are root and the same occurs you won't get a permission error but
instead will have modified the underlying hosting system. You might
not even know that you had done so. This is not about intrusion
detection but one of accident prevention. But accidents happen much
more often than intrusions.

 But, now, another strange behaviour from `ls' command:

 $ ls -ld /mnt/pendrive1/Mail
 drwxr-xr-x 92 rodolfo rodolfo 8192 2010-08-12 17:17 /mnt/pendrive1/Mail

 Why the difference between 4096 and 8192??

Short Answer: Ignore sizes of directories.

Longer Answer: The size of the directory is dependent upon several
factors.

One is the type of filesystem. Different filesystems will consume a
differing amount of space. If your pendrive is VFAT and your Debian
system is ext3 then the implementation of the directory will cause it
to be different sizes.

Secondly it depends upon the history of how many files were in the
directory previously. This behavior has changed over the last few
decades with the addition of btrees and indexes to directories. But
you can still demonstrate it today.

  $ mkdir testdir
  $ ls -ldog testdir
  drwxrwxr-x 2 4096 2010-08-12 17:59 testdir
  $ for i in $(seq 1 1); do touch testdir/$i; test $(stat --format %s
testdir) -ne 4096  break; done
  $ ls -ldog testdir
  drwxrwxr-x 2 12288 2010-08-12 17:59 testdir
  $ ls testdir | wc -l
  340
  $ rm -f testdir/*
  $ ls testdir | wc -l
  0
  $ ls -ldog testdir
  drwxrwxr-x 2 12288 2010-08-12 18:01 testdir

On my Lenny system a newly created directory on ext3 will be 4k in
size. As files are added eventually it needs to be increased to a
larger size and jumps to 12k after adding 340 files. This size is not
decreased even after removing the files. The exact size of
directories and the number of files that can be stored there will
differ on different filesystems and on different operating systems.

Here is the same experiment on ext2.

  $ mkdir testdir
  $ ls -ld testdir
  drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 1024 Aug 12 18:04 testdir
  $ ls -ldog testdir
  drwxr-xr-x 2 1024 Aug 12 18:04 testdir
  $ for i in $(seq 1 1); do touch testdir/$i;
  test $(stat --format %s testdir) -ne 1024 break; done
  $ ls -ldog testdir
  drwxr-xr-x 2 2048 Aug 12 18:04 testdir
  $ ls testdir | wc -l
  84
  $ rm -f testdir/*
  $ ls -ldog testdir
  drwxr-xr-x 2 2048 Aug 12 18:04 testdir

On ext2 the smallest directory size is 1k and jumps to 2k after 84
files have been added in this test.

i tried to config arp in squid.conf but i get this error
aclParseAclLine: Invalid ACL type 'arp' how will i enable the arp
function with squid in debian? i don't really want to compile from
scratch and want to use the .deb file instead.

Hope someone can help thanks!

OK. pidgin seems to work. Thanks. By the way,
BR Also, the output of the following command will be helpful:
BR $ aptitude search '~Gprotocol::msn-messenger'
I get no results. Should I report an aptitude bug?
$ aptitude search '~Gprotocol::msn-messenger'
$ apt-cache policy aptitude

Do a Google search first.
That's what I did. Too many results.

RE: building 2.6.35

2010-08-12 Thread Alex Samad
Okay I have a working solution and set of steps

Unfortunately I didn't keep the url where I got this. But it works, I have
to change the changelog to 2.6.35 instead of 2.6.34

==

How to build linux-kbuild-2.6 yourself

Fetch the sources from SVN:

svn co svn://svn.debian.org/kernel/dists/trunk/linux-kbuild-2.6
Then, fetch the vanilla kernel tarball (important: the 2.6.x version, no
2.6.x.y version):

wget http://ftp.de.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/linux-2.6.27.tar.bz2
Now, you can prepare the package:

cd linux-kbuild-2.6
./debian/bin/genorig.py ../linux-2.6.27.tar.bz2
cd ..
tar xzf orig/linux-kbuild-2.6_2.6.27.orig.tar.gz
cd linux-kbuild-2.6-2.6.27/
cp -a ../linux-kbuild-2.6/* ./
./debian/bin/gencontrol.py
dch -i
Now adjust the version, and add a comment like New upstream version or
something, and build the package itself, after you installed eventually
missing build-dependencies:

make -f debian/rules clean
dpkg-checkbuilddeps
dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc
and you are done.
