rsync / rdiff-backup : préserver user + g roup + droits

2010-08-17 Thread Thierry B
Bonjour,

configuration :

# Defaults for send-hooks
send-hook . '\
  set locale = C ;\
  set attribution = On %d, %n wrote:\n ;\
'

# French messages
send-hook @.+\.fr$ '\
  set locale = fr_FR ;\
  set attribution = Le %{%A %d %B}, %n écrivit :\n ;\
'

Alguna sugerencia?

Saludos y muchas gracias.

Pues ahí no sabría qué decirte, me he
perdido :-).

¿has probado buscando en Google

Problemas con samba

2010-08-17 Thread Daniel Vidal
Estimados amigos:

DNS_Ativacao_Windows (OFF TOPIC)

2010-08-17 Thread Christian Rosa
Bom Dia pessoal,

Mudar resolução do Console

2010-08-17 Thread Fábio de Sousa
Um ótimo dia a todos..

Alguém poderia me dizer, por favor, onde mudar a resolução do console?

a resolução irá mudar.

http://sites.google.com/site/luizluca/port-forward-over-http

I use the following policy:

- The same policy is applied to the physical host containing

- Every month(or very term), the FS containing virtual machine' images

backed up. Of course, the virtual machines are shutdown during the this

virsh
or using directly kvm monitor. Have look at

Of course, you can you use FS snaphosts or KVM snapshosts, but I think
this is very diffcult to validate FS consitency.

And do not forget to *validate* your backups during your tests!

Re: Spaces in names in /etc/security/access.conf

2010-08-17 Thread Laurent Blume

Actually, I was wrong. Further testing shows that pam_access simply does
not work as advertised. Those Windows groups with spaces can't be used.

A similar configuration on CentOS does work.

Same with pam_listfile, which works on CentOS, doesn't on Debian. I'm
unsure where the problem is, Samba or PAM, and the logs are not very
helpful.

Well, «Correct» is a stretch.

I just found out that you need to put *exactly* this as a pam_access
parameter:

listsep = ,

If you don't put the spaces (as in the manual's example), then the
content of access.conf will be silently ignored, and everybody be
allowed to log in.

The line there looks like this:

-:ALL EXCEPT root,(ldapgroup),(DOMAIN+windows users):ALL

Replacing the remaining spaces by commas also works, but doesn't appear
to be necessary.

But I *don't* think is method will guarantee application/DB consistency!

Data consistency is a problem that has to be solved at the application level,
but what I need is a filesystem consistency. Snapshotting filesystem from host
mounted in the guest will leave it a mess. I need to do what lvm in the host
does, which is to tell the filesystem to get synced a frozen into a clean
state and then it probably is possible to make an lvm snapshot from the host
and get a consistent filesystem. I can synchronize database before the fs
freeze.

I know that the kernel can do that but I don't know how to force it from
userspace. lvm snapshot does it automaticaly.

Of course there might be other problems I'm unaware of. I think that online
backups is something that has to work for example in HA environment. You can
hardly provide HA but keep shutting down clusters for consistent backups. What
would otherwise be the point?

From what I've heard, vmware is capable of backing up running guests so there
has to be a way.

For getting this to work, your usb hdd has to be pluged in the usb-port

Re: DHClient Exit Scripts

2010-08-17 Thread Hal Vaughan

On Aug 15, 2010, at 5:41 PM, Hal Vaughan wrote:

I've been reading the man pages for dhclient, but I'm stuck with one key
 question I've missed.

I have an exit script set up to notify me of the IP address of a particular
system (on a LAN) whenever the IP address changes. For now I'm testing, but
in the future it'll be running where I have no control over DHCP or any
servers. This system will be just plugged into the power outlet and into a
CAT5 cable hooked to a hub or switch, so it has to get a dynamic IP address
from the DHCP and it has to be able to alert me to what the new IP address is.

I know whenever dhclient runs, it runs the exit scripts. The one issue I'm
not clear of is whether the exit scripts will be run any time the IP address
changes, like when a lease expires. I know it'll run at reboot or if
networking is restarted, but will the exit scripts be run when the IP address
is changed by the DHCP? If it's not, is there any program that runs under
 those conditions?

I had different answers from different people and finally wrote to Ted Lemon,
the author of dhclient to clarify. Here is my note to him with his response:

-
On Aug 16, 2010, at 9:57 AM, Ted Lemon wrote:

On Aug 16, 2010, at 12:05 AM, Hal Vaughan wrote:
If it is running as a daemon, will it run dhclient-script whenever the IP on
an interface is changed, such as when the lease runs out or when the DNS
changes the address for some other reason?

dhclient-script runs whenever a transaction completes, whether it's an INIT,
an INIT-REBOOT, a RENEW, or a REBIND. It also runs when a transaction times
out, or when the client *fails* to renew a lease. Its purpose in life is to
take whatever happened on a protocol level and translate it into
configuration actions. At renewal, it's responsible for *noticing* that
things have changed, like the DNS server, and updating the resolv.conf file.
-

A few notes on this:

1) On Debian there is a directory, /etc/dhcp3/dhclient-exit-hooks.d instead of
one exit script. Any scripts in that directory will be run when
dhclient-script runs, which, as Ted clarified, is on any event involving the
interface, instead of just running one script (which would force one to put
commands at the end of that one script for each additional script one needs to
run).

2) It will only run bash scripts. I tried putting a Perl script in that
directory and it wouldn't work, so I had to put a bash script in that directory
to run my Perl script.

3) The packages I found that work with DynDNS or similar services mostly ran
Perl or Python scripts and were daemons, meaning that using one would mean
keeping an instance of Perl or Python in memory, in addition to the needed
program. In my case, I'm working on an embedded system, so that's too much
memory to use. Since dhclient is used by default on most systems, there's no
need for an additional daemon, just a script that dhclient-script can run to
update a dynamic DNS service. (Why run two daemons when you need only one?) I
may modify one of the scripts in the Debian packages and send the info back to
the author in case he wants to let it work with dhclient as an option.

This seems wrong. Did your perl script have the correct she-bang line as
the first line of the file: #!/usr/bin/perl ? Did it have execute
permissions?

Like many parts of Debian, I'd expect this to be using run-parts or
equivalent, which simply makes a C/system call to exec(). On Linux, exec()
handles ELF executables with the +x bit and text files with a she-bang line
and the +x bit.

(POSIX/SUS Note: a she-bang line inhibits any expectation of standard
behavior; it makes the entire interpretation of the script system-dependent.
On the other hand, exec() is not required to handle scripts at all; a
compliant shell must handle the exec() failure and interpret the script
itself, but exec() isn't just called by shells.)

I suspect my problem was that the /boot partition was not made

old /boot partition that was bootable. But I suspect that didn't do as

Incidentally, I created a UNetbootin key and am trying a

When I bring my HP Mini 100 netbook out of standby, the screen flickers
on occassion, and then at some random moment in time, it seems, it will
go to a blank blue screen. The session is still active. I can SSH to the
netbook, and I can change TTYs to a virtual TTY (although the screen
remains blank blue), and CTR+ALT+DELETE will reboot.

I only have one link in alternatives for x-session-manager, and it's
pointing to /usr/bin/gnome-session, so not sure what the deal is. There
is nothing interesting in /var/log/Xorg.log, nothing in dmesg nor
 /var/log/messages. So, I'm at a loss.

 Any ideas?

Hi Aaron,

I don't know if I will be able to help, but perhaps answers to the following
questions will identify things to try:

Does this problem always occur after bringing your netbook out of standby?

In addition to the blank, blue screen, do you see the mouse cursor?

What is the timeline like? How many seconds or minutes pass until the first
flicker? How many flickers are there? How long is it until the screen shows
only blue?

Is there anything in `.xsession-errors`? (This file is in the home directory of
the account that you are logged in as.)

But some manufacturers disallow this management on the user side.

Greetings,

Put this line:

hdparm -B 255 /dev/sdX

in your /etc/rc.local file where X is the corresponding letter for your
usb hdd.
For getting this to work, your usb hdd has to be pluged in the usb-port
during boot up.

And you have to ensure that it always has the same X.

 I tried 15 seconds, but didn't help.

I suspect my problem was that the /boot partition was not made
bootable. I found that the squeeze installer wouldn't allow me to
toggle the bootable flag on this partition, and so I resorted to an
old /boot partition that was bootable. But I suspect that didn't do as
 I intended.

Incidentally, I created a UNetbootin key and am trying a
reinstallation using it. Works up to the above bootable toggle
 problem.

It was either this thread or another one where several of us chimed in and
said Unetbootin doesn't work properly with Debian. If you have issues use
the method described in the Debian Installation manual.

This seems wrong. Did your perl script have the correct she-bang line as
the first line of the file: #!/usr/bin/perl ? Did it have execute
 permissions?

I agree, it seems wrong, but that was my experience. I did use the correct
she-bang, I even copied that Perl script, as it was, into ~/bin, without
changing it. However, the permissions for the scripts in
/etc/dhcp3/dhclient-exit-hook.d are all -rw-r--r-- and owned by root. I had
checked to make sure my Perl script matched in ownership and permissions, still
no go. Of course, when I put it in my ~/bin directory, I changed the ownership
to my account and changed the permissions so it was a normal executable. And
my bash script I replaced it with in /etc/dhcp3/dhclient-exit-hook.d matched in
ownership and permissions to all the other files in that directory.

Like many parts of Debian, I'd expect this to be using run-parts or
equivalent, which simply makes a C/system call to exec(). On Linux, exec()
handles ELF executables with the +x bit and text files with a she-bang line
 and the +x bit.

But dhclient-script, which is what is run on any event involving the interface,
is a bash script, not a C program. I read that it's 255 (or was it 254) lines
long when I scanned it in less. There's an exit_with_hooks() function it calls
at the end. First it looks for the script /etc/dhcp3/dhclient-exit-hooks and
if it exists, it runs it with the routine run_hook(). Then it looks for the
directory /etc/dhcp3/dhclient-exit-hooks.d (which, apparently, from comments,
is a Debian only thing) and calls run_hookdir() to run the scrips in that
directory. For each script, it calls run_hook() to run it. Here's the routine
run_hook():

run_hook() {
local script=$1
local exit_status
shift # discard the first argument, then the rest are the script's

if [ -f $script ]; then
. $script $@
fi

if [ -n $exit_status ] [ $exit_status -ne 0 ]; then
logger -p daemon.err $script returned non-zero exit status
$exit_status
save_exit_status=$exit_status
fi

return $exit_status
}

I'm not an expert on bash scripting, but if I remember right, the dot command
is the same as source where, rather than running a script, it run the
commands in the script. I could be wrong about that, but if that's the case,
then it explains why it executes a bash script and not a Perl script.

Yes. When after coming out of standby is the question. Sometimes

No mouse cursor.

What is the timeline like? How many seconds or minutes pass until the first

The flickers are completely intermittent. It's not predictable, but the

the screen goes blue, which could be very soon or many minutes later.

/dev/disk/by-id/has entries mapping to the drive as well as partitions:

1021% ls -l /dev/disk/by-id/ata-ST3750330AS_9QK0X03V*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 9 2010-08-16 10:44

So you should be able to point hdparm at a udev-managed symlink.

Yes hdparm works with uuid's. Here is an example from my ubuntu system.
I suppose it's the same for a Debian system ;-)

sudo blkid

gives my a summary of the pluged hdd's:

/dev/sda1: UUID=2C6CA0626CA02912 TYPE=ntfs
/dev/sda2: UUID=D6EC99F0EC99CB5F LABEL=PageFile TYPE=ntfs
/dev/sda3: UUID=7fd6681a-b5af-4972-8fb7-827bd9ab45a6 TYPE=ext3
/dev/sda5: UUID=3d77d85b-9d39-4f02-852b-1eb5669e6fda TYPE=ext3
/dev/sda6: UUID=6cdb6b0e-14c7-4014-8588-a16228152909 TYPE=swap
/dev/sdb1: UUID=f331af38-d8b0-473d-92b1-9ada96e1dfb9 TYPE=ext3

Let's say /dev/sdb is my usb-hdd. Then the hdparm command would look
like this:

sudo hdparm -B 255 -S 243
/dev/disk/by-uuid/f331af38-d8b0-473d-92b1-9ada96e1dfb9

As the result you should get something like:

/dev/disk/by-uuid/f331af38-d8b0-473d-92b1-9ada96e1dfb9:
setting Advanced Power Management level to disabled
 HDIO_DRIVE_CMD failed: Invalid exchange
 setting standby to 243 (1 hours + 30 minutes)
 APM_level  = off

By the wayYou dont need the -S parameter. It's just for setting
the standby time.

In Debian, Apache will load the modules which are listed in the
directory /etc/apache2/mods-enabled (symlinks to mods-available)
If I recall correctly, it will be enabled by default when you install

It seems like you have both the default symlink and a line in your

If it works I guess that's all that really matters, but considering it takes
a max of 3 files to download and then a 2-line text file on the bootable
partition of the usb stick to make your own Debian installation media per
the Debian Manual, it's tough to argue against the official Debian
instructions in favor of the uncertainty as to whether Unetbootin is
downloading the correct version of the 3 Debian files, making it bootable
correctly, etc. My 2 attempts with Unetbootin and Debian failed, but have
had 100% success rate using the Debian instructions, that's all the evidence
I need.

Just my $0.02 though, glad you found a way to get it to work for your needs.
