:-P Saludos, -- Camaleón -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-spanish-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. I think you should mention the name of the ftp server software you are using. If you are using ftp to upload files to /var/www, I don't think it will have anything to do with Apache (as far as security or upload management is concerned). Yes, and it is one of those documented features of Gmail: *** http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=enanswer=82454#Bounce Finally, if you're sending mail to a mailing list that you subscribe to, those messages will only appear in 'Sent Mail.' This behavior also occurs when sending to an email address that automatically forwards mail back to your Gmail address. To test forwarding addresses or mailing lists, use a different email address to send your message. *** Another bypass to jump this feature and still keep using your Gmail address in the reply-to field could be using a different smtp gateway service for sending e-mails instead using Gmail's one. Some e-mail servers will allow to relay the e-mail if you provide the right credentials for authentication. Though the answer will vary if you are planning to share the disk between old OSes that can have problems with the new aligment or a raid based setup. The ST32000641AS is sata3, but will be connected to an sata2 motherboard, so, can have any problem for this in Squeeze? Sata600 should be fully compatible with sata300, just it will auto-slow to the available speed the same it happens right now with sata300 disks and sata150 ports. One side note on Seagate hard disks. If you are planning to use both disks in a server environment, you should look at their enterprise products as they tend to have higher MTBF values and are labeled as ready for 24x7 usage. OTOH, I was told in many times that beyond the 500 GiB. barrier you can see many of these non enterprise sata disks diying very quickly because they are not very well suited/prepared for intensive tasks and it is better going with sas or scsi devices. In Lenny, a RMB would open a menu with one of the items being Open with... that would allow you to select a specific app to open the file with. So, it appears that in Squeeze one would have to *explicitly* extract the file first in order to open it with a specific app instead of the internal viewer. One extra step as compared to Lenny, one extra step I'd like to avoid. Thanks Sadly thats true. With 'xarchiver' you can inside archive select file and choose your own app for opening file. Basic(?) network help, please...
Since I don't do this often, what may be very easy is confusing me. I have switched from DSL (static IP) to cable internet (5 static IPs). I have a sort of network diagram (in a format that I hope can be easily viewed) available at neidorff.com . Below the line there is a link that says Network Diagram. Some things are not quite right. Under the DSL setup (old) the router provided me with a translated set of addresses, so that I could use the 192.168.2.* range to connections to the router. With cable, I have 5 static IPs, but the cable modem only provides ports for the static IPs. I changed the configuration of the NIC that connects from the server to the cable modem to match a static IP. I can't get PCs on the local LAN (192.168.1.x) to connect to the net using the cable provider's nameservers. If I use the nameservers of my old provider (which are still active for me, for now) they can connect to the net. Why is this? How do I correct it? I say this because some providers give their users a login username/ password and let them to manage their devices from their internal subnetwork. Second, you should ask yourself about the network setup do you have in mind... that is, cable modems (unless otherwise specified) are just gateways with no routing capabilities and act in the same way like the old dial-up serial modems: they connect your machine (the one to which is attached) directly to the web (which is good if you have a web server behind the cable modem that you want to be reachable from outside) but maybe you don't want all your machines are also acting in that way, like public servers. Help with Squeeze on Acer Aspire D250
Hey everyone, I've created a USB installer stick and I am trying to install squeeze on my Acer Aspire D250. The system boots off the USB stick and brings me to the Installer boot menu, but the internal speaker beeps and the system freezes. I hate to bump my own message, but I'm making some progress and I'm wondering if anyone can help me further debug. My initial message: On Mon, Jan 24, 2011 at 10:31 PM, Arturo R. jaq...@gmail.com wrote: Hi all. Per the title, I'd love to get your input on how to debug/fix this particular issue. The error is reproducible 100% of the time. When the machine goes into standby, either automatically or manually, init (or something else? see below), crashes and takes the system down with it. I've read that gdb can't attach to init by design, so I tried strace. Output is attached as strace.log Now, since I assumed the problem was with init, I switched to upstart, but that's not working either. See upstart.log, attached. I've also ruled out coLinux (and with it, its kernel) by trying one of the filesystem images they provide. When using that, there is no problem bringing the machine in and out of standby repeatedly. Does anyone have any idea of how I could further narrow down where the problem lies, or point me in the direction of the proper mailing list to direct my question? My apologies if I've left out any important detail. Please let me know if you have any questions. I've since followed the advise of a poster to colinux-users and built init and all the libraries it depends on with debugging symbols. I'm able to get a backtrace of the crash (see gdb.log, attached), but I still don't know how to pinpoint why the system crashes. I've commented out the apparent offending function in init.c and the error is indeed suppressed, but the system still hangs (no core dumped). Any help is greatly appreciated. -- Arturo R. gdb.log Description: Binary data
