E analise o texto mostrado. Deve aparecer uma linha similar a essa: [14798.911038] usb 8-2: zyx converter now attached to ttyUSB0 O device será o /dev/ttyUSB0 Ou, em vez do pppconfig, use o gerenciador de redes do ambiente desktop. No, they are good reasons, and I've never seen an on-board or standard plug-in audio board do better than about 42dB S/N ratio, with most at 35-40dB. I can get about 48dB with a SB USB board, with careful earthing, which is just about acceptable for recording vinyl sources for domestic listening, if you clip the 'silences' off at each end. I'm not prepared to pay a lot of money for my relatively small amount of vinyl. These are utterly laughable noise figures when compared with purpose-built sound equipment, even domestic stuff, and I can remember being horrified by my SB AWE16 ISA card all those years ago. I assume that expensive PCI boards can do a bit better, but I'd be surprised if it's very much better. The inside of a PC is an extremely hostile environment for audio. Even a USB device would have to be very carefully designed to begin to approach the 90dB+ S/N ratio that 16-bit PCM should be capable of, and it cannot escape being electrically connected to the PC. You really want to start with a well-designed standalone A/D converter optically coupled to the recording gear, with a purely analogue power supply and with mains transients heavily filtered. You'd be surprised how much rubbish a fridge or freezer thermostat can bash into the mains wiring. -- Joe -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Edit your /etc/mtab file, and add the following line: /dev/ad6s1 /mnt/ad6s1 ext2fs ro 0 0 (I'm following your example from ad4s1; ordinarily with a Linux kernel that would just be ext2). Also, you can try rw instead of ro if you want to see if it can write - again, since your (I'm assuming working) entry for ad4s1 has rw on an ext2 file system. Then as root do a mount /mnt/ad6s1 and see if that mounts the partition. If it does, then a ls -la /mnt/ad6s1 should show you the contents. Nogo, vi griped that the file was read-only when I opened the file (which I thought to start with) I tried to save it w/ ':wq!' from vi after the changes got more croaking (it said the file had been written since I edited it), so I chickened out The more I think about, the more I think ext2/3/4 is *not* supported by the kernel grub uses the boot partition (ext2fs), then boots the actual kernel, which wants UFS on its root drive, I am almost certain that the *BSD's don't support ext2/3/4 for writing, only for reading I saw your later posting, where it turned out that you weren't using the fs part of ext2fs - glad you got that sorted out. Just as a point of interest for future reference regarding the complaint from vi, all you'd have to do to clear that up would be to set the write flag on the file for the file owner, who should be root. chmod u+w /etc/mtab would do the trick, and then you can edit the file. I'd say the opposite. On a single-user system, using /usr/src to check out code or unpack a source-code tarball's OK if that's what you want to do but on a multi-user system, no way (even if this was SOP a century or two ago)! I've been pointed to this email of Linus's: https://lkml.org/lkml/2000/7/27/10 begin I would suggest that people who compile new kernels should: - NOT do so in /usr/src. Leave whatever kernel (probably only the header files) that the distribution came with there, but don't touch it. - compile the kernel in their own home directory, as their very own selves. No need to be root to compile the kernel. You need to be root to _install_ the kernel, but that's different. - not have a single symbolic link in sight (except the one that the kernel build itself sets up, namely the linux/include/asm symlink that is only used for the internal kernel compile itself) And yes, this is what I do. My /usr/src/linux still has the old 2.2.13 header files, even though I haven't run a 2.2.13 kernel in a _loong_ time. But those headers were what glibc was compiled against, so those headers are what matches the library object files. And this is actually what has been the suggested environment for at least the last five years. I don't know why the symlink business keeps on living on, like a bad zombie. Pretty much every distribution still has that broken symlink, and people still remember that the linux sources should go into /usr/src/linux even though that hasn't been true in a _loong_ time. Is there some documentation file that I've not updated and that people are slavishly following outdated information in? I don't read the documentation myself, so I'd never notice ;) /end -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Knowledge based solution package?
Good morning, Many years ago I worked as a support engineer for a large IT firm. We had a proprietary knowledge based system for maintaining a database of problems and solutions. It was a fairly simple system that allowed one to categorise the subsystem the problem applied to, a problem title, a solution text area, and a keyword search function. openvswitch-(switch|brcompat|datapath-dkms| and bridge-utils
Hello everyone, I've been trying to solve this issue for the past day and for the life of me I can't figure out how. What I want to do is use OpenVSwitch with Debian. However, I'd still like to be able to use the traditional tools such as brctl provided by bridge-utils to manage the OpenVSwitch bridges. To that end OpenVSwitch provides the -brcompat package as well as the brcompat_mod.ko built by -datapath-dkms. However, as some might have guessed brcompat_mod.ko exports the same symbols as the kernel's bridge module since it's meant as a replacement of it. So, in order to be able to use it one needs to first unload bridge and then load brcompat_mod. This needs to be done on boot. To that end a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-bridge.conf was created containing the line 'blacklist bridge'. After that /etc/default/openswitch-switch was altered to set the BRCOMPAT variable to 'yes' which, when openvswitch-switch is started, will cause the initscript to try and load brcompat_mod.ko. This is where it gets... interesting. After making those changes I rebooted the machine (since there still doesn't seem to be a fool-proof way of restarting networking) and noticed that despite my efforts bridge was still getting loaded instead of brcompat_mod. Turns out, blacklisting bridge doesn't really do you any good. As far as I've been able to gather blacklisting a module is only relevant if that module is getting loaded through a udev rule that triggers it. However, the package bridge-utils installs an /etc/network/if-pre-up.d and if-post-down.d script called bridge to create and destroy the bridges. Because those files are there when starting networking bridge gets loaded and by the time we get to starting openvswitch-switch it can't load brcompat_mod. As a temporary solution I deleted the two bridge-scripts installed by bridge-utils and rebooted the machine. Sure enough, bridge wasn't loaded but brcompat_mod was. This has one nasty side-effect, bridges defined in /etc/network/interfaces are now never initialised and we need those. The idea behind brcompat_mod is that you can still use the 'traditional' way of creating bridges but that does require brcompat_mod to be loaded from the start. As an alternative I sought to update openvswitch-switch's LSB headers to try and get it to start and hence inserting brcompat_mod prior to starting networking, alas to no avail. Though insserv -d isn't reporting any errors its stubbornly refusing to pick up the changes in my LSB headers. On top of that I do believe $network to be required before being able to start openvswitch-switch which will result in bridge getting loaded due to the scripts in if-pre-up.d. At this point I'm stuck. The only thing I can think of right now is to try and create an init-script that only requires mountkernfs and load the module in the hope it comes early enough as to prevent bridge from getting loaded to begin with. There's also Debian bug #680538 that is sort of this issue, however the maintainer(s) ha(s|ve) yet to respond (and the bug report isn't tremendously helpful either). Has anyone run into this before / does anyone have an idea what to do to move forward? Kind regards, -- Daniele Sluijters

Re: Is Wheezy going to be more stable than Squeeze?
Hi Russell, I used Etch for a brief period of time, less than 2 months, and I disliked it very much. I changed to SuSE for a long time, and I did a lot of hard work on programming (kdevelop) and editoring (kile). After KDE4, that I disliked at the time, I tried UBUNTU for a brief period of time, and moved to GNOME. But I was surprised by the UNITY when I was trying to like GNOME. I never liked GNOME, and I strongly dislike UNITY, and now UBUNTU. So I decided to try Debian, the great, once again. I moved to Squeeze+KDE4 and I loved it (One of the things that made me nervous about KDE4 no longer exists: some restriction to add icons to your desktop). Everything works fine, and it is really very stable. One of the things I like is how fast a machine boot. Not something you notice on servers, they are always on. But on desktop, that is a great advantage. More yet in notebooks. I had Squeeze installed in my Acer Aspire One. Good system. When I changed notebooks, and got one that the network didn't work with Squeeze, this list helped me to move to Wheezy. And I moved not only my notebook, but 2 more desktops. I'm using Wheezy since august, and I can tell you it really surprised me with all things working out of the box! Also, I have no problems with stability already (still considered unstable), just a little problem (related here) about disconnecting an external monitor and getting strange behaviour. Another thing I noticed, is that Wheezy is a lot slower to boot than Squeeze. I'll some day measure the time just to check (I mean, the time you press the enter key after login/password to the time you hear the first note of the login theme). Beside that, I recommend you give it a shot. My best, Beco. -- Dr Beco A.I. researcher -- . -- Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. I've built out-of-kernel-source-tree modules in conjunction with a custom kernel (by using the modules_image target) and I've also been forced to deal with out-of-kernel-source-tree Debian module packages that aren't designed to work with kernel-package (by using the kernel_headers target and dkms), but in both cases I had no trouble building the modules. Remember, for cases where the module source package is designed to work with kernel-package, you don't need to build or install a headers package in order to build the modules. That's one of the qualities I like. I think it's stupid to require that the user build and install a headers package when the entire kernel source tree is already installed. A headers package is a subset of the source tree, is it not? So why build or install a headers package if the source tree is installed? -- .''`. Simply install KDE with Synaptic, apt-get or what ever you like and then simply remove GNOME. Simply removing GNOME won't cause inconsistencies, but maybe you have to remove a lot of packages manually, since removing meta-packages won't remove network-manager, evolution, gcalctool etc., so you better don't install GNOME in the first place. I agree that we shouldn't install GNOME to a Linux anymore. Upstream forces hard dependencies to PA and systemd, big intransparent buggy blobs. I bet Debian soon or later will switch to systemd too. debuilding svn package
Mee eens. Twee keer dezelfde actie uitvoeren is NIET logisch. Verder zie ik heb probleem niet. Uitvoeren van debcheckout drupal7 leverde mij geen drupal*.orig.tar op. Wat mij betreft klopt dat.
