sudo /etc/init.d/network-manager start

http://galeracluster.com/products/

resultado me dió.

Hum... a ver, si has

 sudo visudo
sudo: /etc/sudoers.d is owned by uid 1000, should be 0
sudo: parse error in /etc/sudoers near line 9
^^^

Eso parece indicar un error de sintaxis.

sudo: no valid sudoers sources found, quitting

 $ sudo visudo
sudo: /etc/sudoers.d is owned by uid 1000, should be 0
sudo: parse error in /etc/sudoers near line 9
sudo: no valid sudoers sources found, quitting

 y no funciona bien sudo!

sudo: /etc/sudoers.d is owned by uid 1000, should be 0

set boot parameter vga=ask before debian wheezy 7.6 dvd install

2014-07-16 Thread Dennis Luehring

i try to install an qemu-sparc version of debian wheezy 7.6 (dvd-iso)
the qemu graphics emulation is not full ready yet (freezing very early,
textmode works) so i want to
try using the vga=ask boot parameter if there is a working framebuffer
variant

but the vga=ask parameter seems to be deprecated - is there any other
parameter i can try?

after qemus OpenBios boot i can see debians install prompt boot:
asking for ENTER=install, resuce or expert

mode - what do i need to type in booting the dvd iso kernel with parameters?

thx

Re: How does one request 3G modems to be added to those supported under 7.5.0

2014-07-16 Thread P Perazim
Update:

I have found that this is really two problems.

First, seems to be that when one modem is
unplugged and a second modem is plugged in that
the network-manager doesn't complete return to an
initialized state and the second modem setup and
operation fails. If one boots the PC and begins
with the second modem, it works. This is true for
the ZTE MF626 USB modem.

Second, There is some other problem with the
Alcatel X220D USB modem as you can see in the logs
that it is recognized and usb-modeswitch runs but
it never connects to the service provider.

How about this: After moving your own ~/.Skype/ somewhere temporarily,

Ok.
It doesn't matter which account to log in first.
Skype on my account doesn't recognize microphone for some reason. Other

I don't know if this is just corrupted data or a dead/dying SSD. I'll look

xwayland some tutorial?

2014-07-16 Thread Slavko
Hi,

today i noticed, that the xwayland come into the testing. I want to try
it, but i know near nothing about it.

I was looking some Debian related tutorial, but i was no success (yes,
there are articles from another distros). Debian wiki returns nothing,
etc.

Please, know someone something Debian related, which can help me to
start with it? Can someone point me, please? Will it work with XFCE?

The fglrx driver is closed source. AMD have to provide one for for each
version of X. If they haven't updated their driver, the Debian
maintainers can't provide it.

How to add package sources?

2014-07-16 Thread Steve Litt
Hi all,

I'm trying to install install flashplugin-nonfree on Wheezy 64 bit on
a dual core AMD, and it's been failing continuously. The error message
is something to the effect that it can't reach mirrors.rit.edu, and in
fact I cannot ping rit.edu, and when I traceroute to rit.edu it gets as
far as:

vl-5.car2.Buffalo1.Level3.net (4.69.141.146) 262.192 ms 261.916 ms
262.110 ms

and then gives me all stars out to the max 30 hops.

So I'm temporarily assuming the root cause is outside anything on my
LAN or cable modem. The following is my current /etc/apt/sources.list.

==
#

# deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 7.5.0 _Wheezy_ - Official amd64 NETINST
Binary-1 20140426-13:35]/ wheezy main

deb http://mirror.rit.edu/debian/ wheezy main non-free contrib
deb-src http://mirror.rit.edu/debian/ wheezy main non-free contrib

deb http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates main contrib non-free
deb-src http://security.debian.org/ wheezy/updates main contrib non-free

# wheezy-updates, previously known as 'volatile'
deb http://mirror.rit.edu/debian/ wheezy-updates main contrib non-free
deb-src http://mirror.rit.edu/debian/ wheezy-updates main contrib
non-free

# ADDED BY SLITT FOR DOVECOT
deb http://www.backports.org/debian stable dovecot
deb-src http://www.backports.org/debian stable dovecot
==

Therefore I would assume I need to add another mirror to
my /etc/apt/sources.list. How would I find such mirrors? Do I just put
them below my corresponding rit.edu entries? Can I leave the rit.edu
entries intact? Until today, rit.edu has served me admirably. Is there
some sort of command I should run to add a mirror set, or do I just
edit sources.list?

Thanks,

SteveT

I'd put the other mirror above. Lists are on the Debian web site. I'd
even comment it out.

Consider using

Though I spent quit a bit of time to figure it out. Well, plus a bit of
frustration thinking the file was lost. But... At the end there was a
 Happy End. :-)

Nevertheless, I did not neither Mousepad nor Leafpad and with some help
found a very good substitution for both - Pluma a default MATE text
editor, a fork from venerable GNOME2 gedit. Looks excellent in XFCE.

Another one I installed and I like it is Geany. But this one is for
 more serious work.

on you'll be backing up your work, right? :-)

It's a difficult question?.. :-) Well, I mean I always do regular
backups. Up to date I was making them daily, weekly, and biweekly. I use
rsync based script to make snapshot-style backups. As it appears from my
last experience daily is not enough. Should I make them hourly, half-
hourly?.. May I leave the last sentence endlessly open? :-)

All we can do is trying to minimize the loss. However some kind of loss
is unavoidable if an app misbehaves so badly as it happened in my case.

BTW, about bupsky script you shared with me... It's very nice while
working with files in console, like using vim, or nano, or anything like
this. I do most of my file editing work in GUI editors. So, in this case
it's not very helpfull. Right? Or I'm missing something?

Are you sure about that, searching: gigabyte 970A0-DS3

on your board; also take care to get the revision number).

Ooops! An extra zero slipped in. That should be:

Gigabyte 970A-DS3

I have been using psensors to monitor the changes and I'm not liking
what I see. Over the past 30 minutes the ranges for the three
motherboard temps are as follows:

Temp 1: 32 C to 33 CMax since reboot 38 C
Temp 3: 28 C to 48 CMax since reboot 56 C
Temp 2: 43 C to 54 CMax since reboot 54 C

Additionally, the temperatures are constantly spiking. They will find a
baseline level that might be only a few degrees above the minimum, but
every few seconds the spike up anywhere from 2 to 5 degrees. The chart
is just littered with these spikes. Right now, even with the side of
the case completely off for the past hour the temperatures are closer to
the upper end of the range than to the lower end.

Should I get myself a case fan, or two. The side vent seems to be
drilled to take two 120mm fans and the back can take a single 80mm fan.
Or should I be looking straight to a new motherboard? I would rather
not have to go through that, again, so soon. I don't remember just when
I bought this one, but I don't think that is was more than a year, or
two. I remember having trouble with the new memory sticks when I got
the board. And, of course, a new board almost certainly means a new
processor, and the costs just keep rising...

I assume +0200 SAST is the correct timezone for you. If so then emacs

But TZ is empty. That was the first possibility for overriding the

I will look further for the cause of this problem.

The problem must be there somewhere. Perhaps trying emacs without
loading init files and see if that changes the behavior.

  $ emacs -q

  $ emacs -Q

  -q, --no-init-file
Do not load an init file.
  -Q, --quick

It's cool! :-) Visit http://http.debian.net/ and read about it.
Here is the original announcement of it.

  https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2012/06/msg7.html

It is a relatively new http redirector for Debian mirrors. It is run
by Raphael Geissert a well known Debian Developer. It is basically a
CDN. It is a way to use a redirector to dynamically select an
appropriate mirror. I have been using it and it has been working well
for me. Often new services start as unofficial experiments in the
debian.net domain and then after being proved as too useful to live
without they get migrated to the debian.org. This one is still in the
proving time under debian.net but it seems to have been working well.

Shutting down my daughter's instance of Firefox, with a flash game
running, had an immediate and dramatic effect on the temperature. Within
about 4 minutes the temps had dropped 15 - 20 C and after a few more
minutes the spikiness became much less frequent, as well. Opening and
closing programs will cause spiking, but then it seems to calm down
again. BTW, just typing this post seems to have brought back the spikes
after about 5 minutes without any. So I'm going on the assumption that
occasional spikes just happen and probably are not an issue. Flash,
and video, however, cause constant spiking and need to be shut down when
not actually in use. Other than that, I don't see anything specific that
seems to coincide with spiking temps.

The Nvidia drivers have been removed from testing since they are not
compatible with xorg-server 1.16[1,2,3]. Stick to your current 1.15 X
server or switch to nouveau.

At least for the current and the 304 legacy drivers Nvidia has released

 vinden. http://www.openldap.org/faq/data/cache/648.html

 http://www.openldap.org/lists/openldap-software/200406/msg00632.html

over een (21)-foutmelding over een vergelijkbaar (value #1) probleem.

Ja, ik had het bericht ook gezien. Vandaar ook die opmerking over dat ik
misschien een schema mis.

Maar hoe kom ik erachter welk schema?

Bedankt voor het meedenken.

Groet,
Paul.
