On the subject of GRSecurity patch to the Linux Kernel

2016-05-30 Thread concernedfossdev
To whom it may concern;

GRsecurity is preventing others from employing their rights under version 2 the
GPL to redistribute (by threatening them with a non-renewal of a contract to
recive this patch to the linux kernel.)
(GRsecurity is a derivative work of the linux kernel (it is a patch))

People who have dealt with them have attested to this fact:
https://www.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAction/comments/4grdtb/censorship_linux_developer_steals_page_from_randi/
"You will also lose the access to the patches in the form of grsec not renewing
the contract.
Also they've asked us (a Russian hosting company) for $17000+ a year for access
their stable patches. $17k is quite a lot for us. A question about negotiating
a lower price was completely ignored. Twice." -- fbt2lurker

And it is suggested to be the case here aswell:
https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/4gxdlh/after_15_years_of_research_grsecuritys_rap_is_here/
"Do you work for some company that pays for Grsecurity? If so then would you
kindly excersise the rights given to you by GPL and send me a tarball of all
the latest patches and releases?" -- lolidaisuki
"sadly (for this case) no, i work in a human rights organization where we get
the patches by a friendly and richer 3rd party of the same field. we made the
compromise to that 3rd party to not distribute the patches outside and as we
deal with some critical situations i cannot afford to compromise that even for
the sake of gpl :/
the "dumber" version for unstable patches will make a big problem for several
projects, i would keep an eye on them. this situation cannot be hold for a long
time" -- disturbio

Is this not tortious interference, on grsecurity's (Brad Spengler) part, with
the quazi-contractual relationship the sublicensee has with the original
licensor?

(Also Note: the stable branch now contains features that will never make it to
the "testing" branch, and are not allowed to be redistributed, per the scheme
mentioned above (which has been successful: not one version of the stable
branch has been released by anyone, even those asked to do so, since the scheme
has been put in place (they say they cannot as they cannot lose access to the
patch as that may cost the lives and freedom of activists in latin america)))
https://twitter.com/marcan42/status/726101158561882112
@xoreipeip @grsecurity they call it a "demo" version "20:14 < spender> what's
in the public version is < 1/5th the size of the full version"
oreipeip @grsecurity "20:21 < spender> also it wouldn't be as fast as the
commercial version [...] there are missing optimization passes"

Many word processors have French dictionaries. You have to set the
language that you're going to write in, and then the spell checker
should work.
If you don't use an international keyboard, however, you may have some
fun with all the diacritical marks in the French language. The Compose
key will solve that problem, but it's just a bit clumsy for continuous
writing in a foreign language. Just about all characters with diacritic
marks are
obtainable by striking and letting go of the compose key* and then
typing two characters. For instance, compose ' a gives you á and
compose , c gives you ç. The character can be upper case, as in compose
È. Works for other European languages also: Löffel, Straße. Also, currency

and degree symbols, etc.
*Compose key can be set in Linux as one of the non character keys, like
right-alt, or if you have a Windows keyboard, the right Win key. Check

the keyboard setup in your Linux distro.

I couldn't make head or tail of what you were saying about *English* so

Bonsoir,

http://www.telecom-sudparis.eu/s2ia/user/procacci/mailfax/hylafax-admin3002.html

tel / mobile / fax ?

D'avance, je vous remercie !

I don't use Mate, so it's hard to say from the image what it is
supposed to look like. Are the fields for username and password not
rendered, no outlines around what I guess are buttons?

Anyway, some Googling suggests that new Mate packages that hit unstable
moved to GTK3, so that might result in some changes? Maybe the new
themes haven't been updated yet?

(If you are using unstable (that's a quite important detail to mention)
you need to read the NEWS and/or changelogs, be patient, and check your
logs to see what packages changed during the upgrade.)

[jessie 8.4]prompt grub après migration système simple disque vers raid1

2016-05-30 Thread Christophe De Natale

#
Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type
/dev/sda1 * 2048976895974848 476M 83 Linux

error file '/grub/i386-pc/mdraid.mod' not found

grub> ls => affiche tous les volumes
grub> ls (md/0)/ => affiche : lost+found/ sda1/ grub/

Zabbix Frontend PHP on Debian / Ubuntu looks broken

2016-05-30 Thread Martinx -
Guys,

I installed Zabbix Server and its PHP Frontend in an Ubuntu 16.04 box,
however, while trying to "Create host" to monitor it (that already have the
zabbix-agent installed), I'm seeing the following error:

"ERROR: Cannot add host, Incorrect arguments passed to function."

Look what I found after researching about this:

---
 https://support.zabbix.com/browse/ZBX-9784

"Gunars Pujats In Debian/Ubuntu repository Zabbix frontend is modified to
use jQuery and Prototype JS libraries from system (/usr/share/javascript).
That caused problem, because latest Prototype.js broke host edit form. Now
form is fixed and should work with latest Prototype.

Ivo Kurzemnieks Using other user-created packages, can result in unexpected
behaviour. Please, use offical packages. The prototype version we use is
1.6.1"
---

Looks like that is is fixed upstream:

Fixed in:
 pre-2.4.8rc1 r58205
 pre-3.0.0rc1 (trunk) r58206

...But, both Debian and Ubuntu stable releases, doesn't contain the fix...
I would appreciate if someone cherrypick those changes.

I'm trying to backport Zabbix 3.0.3 from SID to Xenial now, lets see...

Cheers!
Thiago

far).

But xserver-xorg-video-radeon would be the right driver to use. Now you're using
the much simpler vesa driver.

The Xorg.0.log file shows that X is searching for the ati driver (package
xserver-xorg-video-ati) which will then use the radeon driver from the
xserver-xorg-video-radeon package.
Try the ati package and if it fails or not, let's look into the contents of the

done.
Maybe you could go to

download the pdf I have attached there, and see if everything looks fine on
the Polish refcard?
That would be really fine.

which package for the graphic adapter did you install.
Could you show us the contents of your Xorg.0.log (either
~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log or /var/log/Xorg.0.log)?

How is the monitor connected to the computer (VGA, HDMI, Display Port, ..)?

How to properly install Radeon drivers for Sid

2016-05-30 Thread Mostafa Shahverdy
Hi everyone.

I have an ultra wide monitor that supports 2560x1080.
While I have a Radeon 5450 graphic card, running Debian Sid, I only can get
1920x1080.
I installed firmware-linux-nonfree to get it running. So why isn't my complete
resolution listed?
Also I experience some glitches while watching videos.

I have to mention that I can't install the proprietary driver from AMD website
because of the following error:

Impression en double ou triple

2016-05-30 Thread Sylvain Schneider (ML)

I llavors
sense el paquet de firmware igual va. Però és molt hipotètic, si
passés això, s'informaria un bug i es miraria d'arreglar. No pressuposaria

poden caler més coses o no acabar funcionant.

No sé si firmware està molt ben definit o quina acepció exacta usa

It was already translated... twice ;)
You can check out details at debian-l10n-polish mailing list [1].

I do have those two [2][3] (hopefully) helpful urls bookmarked. While
the refcard translation is already updated, there are quite a few other
packages that need an update [4].

Holger,
I never did any translations (in Debian) thus I'm not sure where to start with
this bu I think I could help if I only knew which 12 strings require
translating :-)
If you could point me to the line from which should I start I'm pretty sure I
can sort it out pretty quickly.

Pointer to the docs about translations syntax and procedures would be
beneficial as well.

I somehow have a feeling that my theme is not getting rendered properly.
I created a brand-new user just to make sure that my home dir's earlier
files may not interfere with updates
The new user is also showing the same behaviour. Dialog boxes are not
rendered properly. gtk ones are the worst suffering.
