Re: Icedove crashes after recent update

2016-06-24 Thread Jape Person

Hi, Matthias.

Just in case you haven't subscribed to the list, I'm writing
back to let you know another person besides confirmed that she
is seeing this problem. Unless she used BCC she doesn't seem to
have copied you. That's the norm for this list. It's just easier
to subscribe in order to get all of the responses. You can
easily unsubscribe -- if you so desire -- at any time.

I checked the Debian bug tracker.

https://www.debian.org/Bugs

There are a couple of bug reports listed for this version of
Icedove that seem as though they may be about this problem we're
seeing. I think the attempt to find the cause and a solution are
in very early stages.

If you wish to help you could try reading the information at

https://wiki.debian.org/Icedove#Debugging

and using the information provided there to collect some data on
your system. I intend to try it tomorrow -- if I get a chance.

I've got a very busy life right now. The bug isn't causing data
loss on my systems, so it doesn't have a really high priority
for me.

But I wanted you to know that the maintainers do seem to be
aware of the problem and are looking into it. The more people
like us help them, the quicker the problem might be resolved.

Best regards,
JP

If I start all 23 of my xterms in one go, things get in a mess.
They're meant to be distributed across 20 pages of an fvwm desktop.
So I start them (and the other apps) with
xtoolwait -timeout 15 xterm ...

Because xtoolwait waits for each window to be mapped on its
appropriate page, the numbering is predictable. It does start,
however, at 0, not 1.

But you have to go back to squeeze to find the xtoolwait package.
It's a mere 12626 bytes. I don't know why it was dropped.

Cheers,
David.

Hi, Moe.

I found what appears to be this same issue reported in the bug

Yo encuentro eso en los Debian Repositorios,

fdupes

https://wiki.debian.org/DontBreakDebian

- Archivos temporales
- Bad enlaces simbólicos
- Los directorios vacíos

Ummm. Checking back up-thread, I can see that you're using md0 across
more than 4 disks and you're trying to boot off it with
grub-pc. You're hitting BIOS limitations here - the BIOS is only
capable of accessing 4 disks. I'm *guessing* that maybe the newer grub
in jessie is just being pickier about checking BIOS access to those
disks. Try just using 4 of the disks for md0, and I'd expect it to
work.

Re: jessie won't install/boot on a Dell Poweredge R815

2016-06-24 Thread Jeffrey Mark Siskind
Please note that bootint with rootdelay=20 does not solve the problem. It only
masks it.

 1. If I attempt a fresh USB install of jessie, when md0 is correctly built
before the install, the process of doing the fresh install breaks
md0. When it gets to grub install, components of md0 are missing (even
though all six components were present before the install). And
grub-install fails. At this point it is impossible to complete the install
and produce a bootable system.

 2. If I do a fresh minimal USB install of wheezy, rebuilding md0 in the
process, and then do a dist-upgrade to jessie, I can manually add
rootdelay=20 in grub and boot into jessie with all six components of md0
present. But if I do so, then after boot, if I do dpkg-reconfigure pc-grub,
doing that gives errors, drops components of md0, precludes me from adding
them back, fails to install grub, and leaves the machine in an unbootable
state.

I fear that there is a problem writing to disk. Even if I boot with
rootdelay=20, unless the kind of writes that dpkg-reconfigure pc-grub does are
different, doing ordinary writes to disk may also corrupt the disk.

Please let me know what new information you would like me to gather.

May be

 --include 'Mail|News|howto' /mnt/pendrive/rodolfo

Theoretically, the 2 options exclude all files except the ones matching the
include pattern. I have tested though.

me disait:
Flash Player version installed on this system : 21.0.0.242
Flash Player version available on upstream site: 21.0.0.216

Flash Player version installed on this system : 22.0.0.192
Flash Player version available on upstream site: 21.0.0.216

Except it has many patches installed that the mutt maintainers didn't
wish to add, for whatever reasons. I get it, thanks. I'll wait until it
has 'replace' and is in Debian. I was following the discussion on

I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking fully through. Your usage is definitely
different from mine. Because you're targeting specific things, that
"--force" may not apply, but still maybe it will lead you to something
similar that's appropriate for your usage need. I don't know how it is
now, but that "--force" was not in my manual at one point not too long
ago (not near my Debian to check out its current status).

That flag was, again, just something out on the Net. Made me wonder
what other undocumented tricks might be available out there as well as
that anywhere we reach out for tech support is subject to the
limitations of the combined knowledge of all the participants. :)

Neomutt is the same as pristine mutt but patched with features like
sidebar, notmuch, indexcolor etc. So you can either use neomutt or
the Debian mutt/mutt-patched. The executable binary is /usr/bin/mutt
in both cases. If you want to switch back to Debian mutt you have to
remove/purge neomutt-common first as the mutt package has no Replace
yet.

Your configuration can stay as it is, though. Maybe you want to
configure the neomutt features with some customized rc-files
documented in /usr/share/doc/neomutt-common/examples.

So there is nothing magic with neomutt at all..

Great! There's probably a bug somewhere, or that particular hardware
should have some sort of quirk to enable the primary monitor, but I'm
not sure what component the bug should be filed against.

I haven't tried this myself, but it looks like you should be able to
force the primary display on (and the secondary off) during
modesetting:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/kernel_mode_setting#Forcing_modes_and_EDID

You can also do something similar in the Xorg configuration.

servicio que falla ("dmesg | grep -i -e journal -e "systemd" o "grep -i

Not necessarily, this error message is a red herring most likely.

Here's from the package description:

Description: simple abstract interface for playing event sounds
libcanberra defines a simple abstract interface for playing
 event sounds.

libcanberra relies on the XDG sound naming specification for
identifying event sounds. On Unix/Linux the right sound
to play is found via the mechanisms defined in the XDG sound
 theming specification.

I'm reading (in order to wield the biggest hammer to squash the "bug")
that you can 'about:config':

and set

browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash

This seems like a clue someone with more mental acuity than myself might
be able to exploit.

There's only one firefox on your machine, correct?
