WordProcessor + SoundCard + ZIP PRINTING

1997-12-30 Thread Àlex Maneu
Hi.

Do you know if there is any good word processor
for Linux? (I mean like WordPerfect, or, at least,
like windoze WordPad). If so, where can I find it?

I also have another question. I finally recompiled
the kernel (I needed it to support my soundcard).
When finally I could recompile the kernel with
a normal size, etc., I see that I can't hear
anything through my speakers. The computer does
as if the soundcard were recognized (for
example, when I type bplay sound.au or
cat sound.au /dev/audio it does like if
it were reproducing the sound. But I can't hear
anything. It's not a speakers problem or even a
hardware problem. It's software. My soundcard is
a Logitech SoundMan Wave, fully compatible with
SoundBlaster16 with MPU/OPL4 OPL2/OPL3 (or
something similar). The adresses: I/O: _220_ (can
be 230, 240 or 260, IRQ: _7_ (can be 3,5,7), DMA:_1_
(can be 1,5, (7)).

And another question! I use a Iomega Zip 100MB
parallel port drive. I can use it with fstab, but
I cannot print having this drive connected to the parallel
port. I've heard that there's a patch or something
that you can use the printer and the Zip. I know I
can't use them at the same time, but it doesn't matter,
I wanna use the printer... snip...

If you need more information
(my config file of the kernel) please mail me or mail
the list.

Thank you very much, have a happy New Year!

Installing the kernel

1997-12-20 Thread Àlex Maneu
Hello.

I have to install the kernel from a kernel CD
of the official CD set of Debian GNU 1.3.1 distribution.
How do I do it? I have to install it to recompile it
to support my soundcard. Any suggestions?

Have a Nice Christmas!

Hi!I have a ViewSonic 6E Monitor, and my video card

problem, and edited XF86Config several times
until I got the solution.

You can have my XF86Config, try to start X
with it, or simply have a look at it to
see what's wrong with yours.

Image Sound

1997-12-13 Thread Àlex Maneu

Hi to everybody.

I still have some questions about Linux, I think they'll be easy
for you to answer.

-I want to put a picture as the background of X-Windows, or simply
change the background color. Where is it specified? Which files
must
I edit?
-XV: I've been looking for this program, but I don't have it.
I've been searching it in DSELECT, but I couldn't find it.
Where is XV?

-Sound Card: My soundcard is a Logitech SoundMan Wave 100% compatible
with Soundblaster. Which files must I edit to use it? (for example to listen
CDs, etc). Must I have installed some special package?

Thank you very much.
