Sound Card

Hello ,
  I will buy a sound card in few days . While looking at various product
info  on the web, I find a  variety of cards . Can any body points me to the
FAQ (or any information guide ) which provide comparision and technical
infromation about it .(Like wavetable , 3D etc ) .
 Secondly I like to know which cards are supported by Linux . In the mini
howto's there is only information about installing Creative sound cards.

SEGMENTATION FAULT

Hello,

All the Xprograms (my own or  source) compiled  on my system (gcc) exits
immediately showing  Segmentaion  fault when run . They however get compiled
and linked without showinig any error  . Any help .

Using Keyboard for Mouse

/settings are required to use mouse functions through keyboard in X ? (via 
numeric pad keys )

Hello ,
   While installing Debian , I  come across the same situation.
But I get :4Fa  .I guess it is due to the installation script when it
tries to make Linux bootable from harddisk . I corrected it
through lilo.conf and then I run lilo  .
   By doing so I get what I  want . I set the delay to 200 .so boot map(?)
will look for left space . but if i press left space during the booting
(continuously) , I get the 4FA: and then by pressing Enter I get LILO
waiting as it should do . I do not get the same problem when  I do not ask
for linux to be made bootable from the harddisk
during installation and then do it manually later . So i guess it is due
to installation script . However I have not checked the source code
and hence I am not  sure  about it .

Is this the right program?  all three questions are yes/no types, rather
than allowing me to change them.  It wants to use /dev/hda3, /, for boot,
and has no option to change to /dev/hda1.

Installation Problem

Hello, I come 
accross three problems while installing Debian 1.3.1 from 
CD
1. The system boots correctly from the 
boot floppy created during installation  but by 
booting from harddisk (through LILO ) the kernel boots 
 correctly but then it stopped displaying the 
following:
 VFS: Mounted root 
msdos file system readonly Unable to open an 
initial console
 How to correct 
it ?. Why msdos is shown as the filesystem instead of ext2 
(floppy booting shows ext2) . Is this a problem due to 
LILO
2. The X configuration file 
can not be created during installation and 
hence Xserver cannot be started form 
xdm. How it can be created manually. 
Do I have to reinstall 
.
3. Thirdly I want to 
know how to use X without mouse . . What should 
be done to use mouse funcions through 
keyboard ?.
