Yo tamibén tenía ese problema ; no aparecian en la lista desplegable y en el peor de los casos aparecía la linea en blanco o en forma de cuadraditos. El problema era el fichero de métrica *.afm que se tiene que generar correctamente una vez que pasas la ttf a Type1. Tras la conversión a Type1 le tienes que arreglar la métrica con afmmakes.ps u otra utilidad similar. Las fuentes entiendo estan bien instaladas; el problema es que cuando llevo el archivo a windows este no reconoce la letra. -Mensaje original- De: Fco. Con eso y algo de info en un buscador puedes tener las fuentes en ese menú. Otra cosa es que funcionen todas bien. De algo más de quinientas fuentes me fallaban unas setenta. En el SOffice hacen esto porque un documento se supone que debe poder imprimirse, y solo salen las fuentes que estan seguros que lo harán. En el resto de aplicaciones, como el editor HTML, salen todas las fuentes que tengas en las X. Además de editar los archivos que te dice, (un autentico coñazo, hay en internet scripts que lo automatizan), de nada te servirá si no añades todas las ttf en el Fontmap (o /etc/gs.Fontmap, en debian). Te ayudaría más, pero desinstalé el StarOffice hace tiempo. Al final me decidí por un vmware con el MsOffice para las emergencias, total, me carga casi igual el sistema. RE: Strange reboot
I was told oncethat it happened because it was a type ATX computer. I suppose your is an ATX too. I have a 2.2r2 (2.2.17) Potato on AMD 800 256 and Nvidea Geforce MX 32 MB and from time to time it starts spontaneously; usually after halting the system and pushing the on/off button off. After a few seconds it reboot by its own, but not always. It depends on the care i put on the finger when i switch off :-) I have to push the on/off button a little longer than i usually did with my old P200 and it switches off properly. But from time to time it seems as if a little wire were over heated and had enough energy to re-start. Most of the time works properly. I don`t care because i put a another energy switch. hope it helps Regards

He conseguido hacer funcionar las true type en staroffice 5.2. Pero me ocurre que si llevo un fichero .rtf a MSword en NT no reconoce la fuente adecuadamente aunque también este instalada. ¿Podría ser porque el nombre es diferente en la lista desplegable de fonts ? ¿ Alguna idea?

Staroffice y truetype
Hola! Alguien sabe como hacer funcionar las fuentes truetype en staroffice 5.2. Tengo una potato 2.2.r2 con las X4.0 y una Nvdia. Me he leido el TT-debian-HowTo, el Font Howto, el Deuglification HowTo, el XFree how to. Aparentemente consigo que el xfs y xfstt funcionen. Pero al añadir las fonts al Staroffice Cuando se muestran en la lista desplegable de fuentes staroffice kaska al intentar seleccionarla. En esta lista desplegable a veces se muestra el nombre de la fuente y a veces no. ES cierto que en uno de los múltiples intentos parecía funcionar correctamente; pero al volver a arrancar el sistema dejaron de aparecer. Aunque he seguido los pasos algo estoy haciendo mal. ¿ Alguien puede detallarme los pasos a seguir o indicarme alguna referencia?. En este ultimo intento reinstalé staroffice pero ahora como root no me deja ejecutar el spadmin para añadir las fuentes muestra el mensaje ABORTED. Sin embargo como usuario si funciona. Lo instale staroffice del archivo binario con la opcion /net. ¿ Alguna idea al respecto? GRacias Un saludo

A mi me ocurrio algo parecido una vez y la verdad es que no me acuerdo muy bien. pero quizá te sirva de ayuda. lo que hice fue arrancar con un cd- diskette de arranque, me cree una particion nueva similar a la que tenía que afortunadamente me acordaba más o menos cuantos megas tenía de cada particion (fdisk -l part.txt ). Como acerté en la particion los datos estaban allí. Para sacarlos imagino que tendrás que hacerlo mediante floppy Espero que te ayude Un saludo
Sorpresa con Dselect
Hola! Para que no te pase eso lo mejor es guardar el estado antes de hacer ningún cambio. $ dpkg --get-selections dpkg-selections Para restaurarlos $ dpkg --set-selections dpkg-selections De mensajes de otras listas he leido que en /var/lib/dpkg se puede encontrar el fichero status y status-old. Este último parece ser que almacena la versión anterior al cambio. Pero no lo he probado y no estoy seguro. Si este fichero fuese el necesario bastaria con que hicieses un set-selection. Puedes intentarlo pero previamete realiza una salvaguarda del estado de las opciones de dselect. Mira también en /var/backups/ que es otra referencia posible que indica . Espero que ayude.
Problema impresora /dev/lp0
Hola a [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tengo un problema con la impresión. Trás haber recompilado el kernel para que me reconociese /dev/lp0, cosa que ahora aparentemente hace. Cuando envío algo a la impresora el trabajo se queda en cola pero no sale. Si hago un cat f.txt /dev/lp0 el comando se queda esperando y no devuelve el prompt con lo que tengo que abortar con ctrl-d. He instalado unos filtros para una deskjet bajados de la pagina indicada en el printing- HOWTO para evitar un error de filtros que me indicaba el programa printop. Ahora no me da error de filtros pero no sale nada por la impresora. Lo único que puedo ver con printop es que dice que los filtros están disabled (realmente parece que la impresión). Activo todo lo activable desde printop pero nada. Alguién se le ocurre alguna idea que puede estar pasando. Estoy olvidando algo y no se que puede ser. Muchas Gracias Un saludo

Hola Alguien sabe los pasos para instalr el Xine y poder ver DVD. Lo he instalado primero la version 0.3.3 se podía añadir uno de los ficheros del DVD pero no la película de seguido. Luego instalé el parche/plugin CSS para descifrar. Tuve que cambiar la referencia al directorio de include por que no era capaz de compilar y de las tres pestañas que aparecian dvd,vcd y list al final ha desaparecido la dvd y de continuo cuando hago drop de un fichero kaska y me dice que no tiene memoria SHM disponible. Me he leído el DVD-playing-howto. y la documentación de xine. alguien sabe de algún documento o como hacer para poder ver una peli dvd en linux Gracias Un saludo

Once i had a similar problem. i did two things: 1) modify the file /etc/ld.conf and added the path for ldconfig( i`m not sure about the name :-( i`m writing from a Windows machine so i can`t check it )see man for ldconfig it name the file there 2) Related to the problem was that i change glibc from 2.1 to 2.2 a really weird problem. Si haces múltiples particiones debes decir cual es el punto de montaje punto de montaje de cada una y aquí dices que por ejmplo hda2 es /var. Hi All! I have some problems to play gnome sounds for users, when two of them login using virtual consoles in the Linux Box. the latest one that connect can´t play sounds events but from the command line using esdplay. This way it works ok. The first one hear it all allright when closing for instance.¿ is there a way to have the audio channel shared?, though i´m not sure this is the reason for what it doesn´t sound. Recently I did the same upgrade, unnoticely because i don´t manage dselect and dpkg properly yet. After that, every thing went wrong and at the end i had to reinstall the system completely. change IRQ
does anyone know how can i change irq number for a soundblaster Live 1024 soundcard that uses the Alsa emu10k1 driver ? On booting it set IRQ 10 that it's shared with my ethernet card. In modules.conf i set options snd_irq=5; but if i do a cat /proc/interrupts i see IRQ 10 or so it seem. I ve update helix(gnome-core 1.2.4) for debian 2.2r0 and gmix can´t find /dev/mixer and it said that it there is no /dev/dsp. I have a Debian 2.2r0 + Xfree 4.01 installed and i want to update to 2.2r2. it`s the first time. So i have read at debian the update page. As want to use cd-rom i suppose i have to modify source.list as indicated. My question is if it is goin to update Xfree, I don`t want that because a i have a NVidia driver installed. I want to fix a bug in gnome( gmenu crash Bug#76094: gmenu crashes on new item)that seem to be fixed in gnome-core-1.2.4.deb as i had read in the news at geocrawler.com. I have installed potato 2.2r0 so the package currently installed is gnome-core-1.0.5.deb. gmenu crash
Hi All I know that there is a bug reported to gnome.org for gmenu Nº 29855. If you are root and try to add a new menu item the application crashes even when you only select the point where you can insert the new item. Though in my case in a previous instalation (but wihtout USB support for a 2.2.17 Kernel) the error did not occur.
