Xdm on remote servers.
I have xdm installed on my server and have configured it to not start a local xserver. I also have a win98 computer with eXceed configured for XDMCP broadcast. I get the login window and it is able to authenticate me as a user and then the login window shows up again and it only loops.
DNS.
I´m about to move a web-server (Debian) from one place to another and have to change IP. I now like to install and use DNS on the server. I´d like the DNS in the new server to handle my domain. My domain is now handled by my ISP but I need the ability to add and remove hostnames. I guess this is the usual way to do it. How much does this differ from the standard debian-installation? Where do I specify new hosts, MX-entry and so on? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ISDN and Debian.
Telia (operator of telecom services in Sweden) is having a drive on ISDN equipment and I´m thinking of buying a ISDN-box. But before I make my decision I need to know how Debian handles ISDN, if it manages Bandwidth On Demand and so on. I also need to know what adapters I could use and if the serial port ISDN-adapters can be handled efficiently. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Re: TCP/IP Network +WIN95
I have a local network that consists of 2 win95 and 1 debian box. The debian box has an isdn connection to the Internet. There is one Problem: The win95 boxes make the debian box dial exactly dial every 5 minutes, each. This is getting very expensive. I have experienced this problem to. It was something with DNS request, but I don´t remember if it was the Linux box or the Win that caused the problem. Try to disable DNS requests from the computers one at a time. Are you using diald? Is it possible to block-out DNS requests? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
WINS - DNS [OT?]
This might not be a Debian specific question. In that case, please accept my apology. Is it possible for a Linux box running a DNS server to query a WINS server running on a NT box? Can I have the Linux DNS serving non WINS klients and still get the same name-resolving? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Linux SAMBA - Win NT.
Are there any known problems connecting to a Linux samba-server from a Windows NT4 server/workstation? POP
I´m sorry but this might not be a Debian-specific question, but I don´t know where to ask it and you out there on the list seems to be nice people ;-) I have a Linux box at home serving a couple of windows 95/NT clients with SMB resources, telnet and POP mail. I also have a dialout modem for connecting to the internet using IP masquerading and diald to give the 95/NT clients the ability to go out on the net. There are different users on the win clients and therefor different E-mail accounts out on the internet and I would like to have my Linux box fetch ALL the users E-mail by using POP3 to the different E-mail servers out on the net. Then I want to pickup the waiting mail from the Linux box to the clients with POP3 again. I´d like it to check for and get E-mails each time I manualy connects or when the diald connects. I also want it to connect on regular basis IF no connect has occured for a while. I don´t know if this is possible but I have heard a romour... -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED] . Trouble? e-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
INN NEWS Server.
Hello. I have installed a Debian 1.3.1 system om a server out on the internet. The server acts as a http and mail server running apache and smail on a Pentium 100. I also have installed the INN package and the package maintainers configuration is good enough for me because I want to run it all by it self with no connection to the USENET. I have a problem that I can´t find a solution for, I´ve checked the docs and FAQs I could find on the net but none could solve my problem. The problem is: I can use the server with a lot of different mail readers, there is no problem with the transmission of articles. The problem is, I don´t see the From: line in the newsreader. First I was convinced that the problem was client-related but then the other guys (win guys) told me that theirs clients (free agent) gets the From: line when they connect to other USENET NEWS servers. I´ve also heard that it might be a variable problem in the server. Can someone help us? By the way, is there any capability to protect the INN server with password? -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
