Ok, it's really nice. But it works for one login at a time. Now I
want start more managers with it. I need to start next xdm somehow.
Running xdm on other tty console doesn't bring me window. Any idea how
start few xdm login windows at system start? For example, one on tty7,
one on tty8 one on tty9 an so on? Or how just start next instance of
xdm?

Thanks.

Yes, it is true what you say.
Each startx command attach window manager to next tty.
So it goes into tty8, tty9 and so on.
Now i see. Many thanks for help.

More than one window manager

2013-01-31 Thread Marcin Kłapkowski
Hello,

I have Debian wheezy. I use i3 window manager, starting with xdm on
tty7. I wanted to test other window managers without changing my basic
config, and still using my desktop. Tried on tty6 with:
startx /usr/bin/awesome
it start nice, and it's working.
But when i switch to tty7 and back to tty6 i got console with X.org
starting messages, no desktop. I have to stop X and start again.
XDM doesn't have choice for window manager, so only .xsession is my
choice.
Any ideas how to make nice double desktop config?

Thanks

One comment about Mono. As i see, we got problem of one app which is in
C#, depending on Mono, so Mono is included into Gnome installation in
debian... and it's risky. What we need (as a community), is just other
app similar to Tomboy, to substitute it in Gnome as a default app.
It will make it also "less dependency".

Right now it might still be possible to install the package if you add
both "testing" and "stable" to your sources list (and run "apt-get
update" afterwards).

You could also try the soundtracker-gtk2 package mentioned in bug
#519641.

soundtracker-gtk2 wasn't installed, because of dependency lack: gtk+-2.0
but, after adding lenny repo as you told me, i have possibility to
install soundtracer with whole gtk1.2 dependencies. great, but din't it
harm my system? and should i add lenny updates to it or not? i worry
about packages conflicts too.

thanks.

proftpd is 1.3.1, and have no new upgrade for version 1.3.2
and proftpd depends on
proftpd-basic 1.3.1
proftpd-mod-ldap1.3.1
proftpd-mod-mysql 1.3.1
proftpd-modpgsql1.3.1

and proftpd is in conflict with
proftpd-basic 1.3.2

but in repo there are new versions of packages but not proftpd package
proftpd-basic is 1.3.2 in repo
proftpd-mod-ldapis 1.3.2 in repo
proftpd-mod-mysql is 1.3.2 in repo
proftpd-modpgsqlis 1.3.2 in repo

you cannot upgrade proftpd to 1.3.2 now.
trying to upgrade proftpd-basic from 1.3.1 to 1.3.2 affect removing
proftpd because of dependencies.
this same is if you try to install proftpd, because of lack of
dependencies it cannot be done.

You can install proftpd only if you install make downgrade these
other packages to 1.3.1. Or just install 1.3.1 version.
