Does anybody have problems with IMP and mysql?
it gives me problems with mysql-server3.23.21-2
but I don't have those errors with mysql-server3.22.30-2 for example.

Does anyone have any ideas what is wrong with it?

Here is a sample error:
Database error: Invalid SQL: insert into active_sessions ( sid, name, val,
changed ) values ('eb3d6c0579db65f8c48a170778a770e8', 'HordeSession',

MySQL Error: 1062 (Duplicate entry
'HordeSession-eb3d6c0579db65f8c48a170778a770e8' for key 1)
Session halted.

I undestand the error, I just don't know why it works with older versions of
mysqld and not with the latest ones.

Also netmask had to be added to my eth0 interface:

Re: Adding a lot of users in a single operation.

here is what I use to add users from the file.

The trouble is that none of the utilities (that I know of) allow you to

Ok, let's say you have a file users.txt with a list of user names you want to
 add, one
 per line.

 for i in $(cat users.txt) ; do pwd=$(makepasswd) ; echo $i $pwd
 userpass.txt ;
 adduser --disabled-password --gecos $i $i ; cpwd=$(perl -e 'print
 crypt('$pwd',
 '$i');') ; echo -e '/^'$i':/ s/:!:/:'$cpwd':/\nw\n' | ed /etc/passwd ; done

That should do it. (See, you had to user perl after all.) Mind you the above
 is all
one line, you'll have to fix the breaks inserted by my mail-reader and yours.
 Good
practice dictates you save your /etc/passwd file before completing the above.
 Also,
the above assumes you are not using shadow passwords. In any case the above
 should be
adaptable to shadow passwords too if you can see what I'm doing.

I don't think that linux supports NIS+ yet.
I know that you can run linux box as NIS+ client, but I've never heard about

Re: Can't find shared libraries

You need to install xlib6.

then you have:
/usr/lib/libc5-compat/libXt.so.6
/usr/lib/libc5-compat/libXt.so.6.0

 locate libXt.so.6 produces

 /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6
 /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6.0

I check permissions with ls -l /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6* and get

 /usr/X11R6/lib
 /usr/lib/libc5-compat
 /lib/libc5-compat
 /etc/ld.so.conf (END)

The paths are there - I have run ldconfig loads of times.
The only way I can get the system to find the libraries is to
add put paths in the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH or
to put a link in /lib or /usr/lib.
I shouldn't need to if the path is in ld.so.conf should I?

Re: limiting NIS access

1999-09-07 Thread Marcin Kurc
Read NIS-howto, for example you can create group and give them /bin/false as a
login shell.

 Hi,

This is not Debian secific question. My system use NIS on all Sun machine. I
have a dew debian boxes running on the same network which use NIS from Sun
 machine.

How could I limit an access to debian box to only some account. I still would
like to use NIS because of passsword maintenaince for user.

Is there a method in limiting NIS access. Now every user who has account on
Sun machine can log on to debian box with homedir=/

 TIA

Re: AWE64 Problems

1999-08-25 Thread Marcin Kurc
You dont need to use isapnp to initialize AWE64. Just turn off pnp support in
BIOS, and if you compile the support for it into kernel use values:

* OSS sound modules (NEW)
[...]
* 100% Sound Blaster compatibles (SB16/32/64, ESS, Jazz16) support (NEW)
(5) Sound Blaster IRQ Check from manual of the card (NEW)
(1) Sound Blaster DMA 0, 1 or 3 (NEW)
(5) Sound Blaster 16 bit DMA (SB16, Jazz16, SMW) 5, 6 or 7 (use 1 for 8 ...
(330) MPU401 I/O base of SB16, Jazz16 and ES1688 ...

I have a Creative Labs AWE64 (ISA PnP) card, and I'm having a bit of trouble
 getting it configured in Debian.

I have re-compiled my kernal (2.0.36) to include the appropriate sound
support, and I have also set up the pnptools (via pnpdump) to initialise the
 card at boot.

The problem seems to be that the initialisation of the card (via PnP) takes
place after the sound support from the kernal has loaded. What I get at boot
is the message that sound support is being initialised, but no cards are
picked up in the kernal drivers. Later on in the boot process, the PnP tools
initialise the card with no errors.

I would like to hear from anyone who has has experience with getting the
AWE64 working under Debian as I don't know what to do next - the only other
option is to boot DOS and load the DOS drivers, then boot Debian.

 Cheers
 Andy

Re: HELP: 3Com 509B(or 900B TP0) Network Problem

1999-08-24 Thread Marcin Kurc
I never had any problems with 3coms.
I always compile the support into kernel.

509 works:

eth0: 3c509 at 0x300 tag 1, 10baseT port, address 00 10 5a 03 d3 82, IRQ 10.
3c509.c:1.16 (2.2) 2/3/98 [EMAIL PROTECTED]

and also 900 works:

3c59x.c:v0.99H 11/17/98 Donald Becker
http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/vortex.html
eth0: 3Com 3c905B Cyclone 100baseTx at 0xec00, 00:10:5a:25:f8:3f, IRQ 10
  8K byte-wide RAM 5:3 Rx:Tx split, autoselect/Autonegotiate interface.
MII transceiver found at address 24, status 786d.
MII transceiver found at address 0, status 786d.

Can the Debian support the 3C900B TP0???
Please let me know the information of Debian's support for Network card of
  3Com.

The support for 3COM cards is very good.

Try the 3c59x driver for both of those cards. I think I've made several 3Com
 509B work with that driver.

 In Debian use:

 modconf

And then net, there you will find the 3c59x driver.
