Warum über Absatzrückgänge fluchen, wenn Du deine Produktionen ohne Händler, dafür aber mit Rundumservice verkaufen kannst? Blackdown.org! Das sieht schon mal sehr viel besser aus. Aber der Konqueror??? Jetzt führt Er Java Applets aus. Aber wie??? - neben dem Browser Window ??? - HÄH - ??? Sowas hab ich noch nie gesehen. Ausserdem flackert das Applet. schlimm :-( Ehrlich gesagt kann ich nicht nachvollziehen woran dein Problem liegt? In Netscape kannst Du sich Java anschauen, wenn Du es auch in Konqueror haben möchtest, dann must im Internet danach suchen, vielleicht brauchst irgendein zusätzliches KDE-Packet. Meine Probleme sind leider manchmal nicht nachzuvollziehen. Also ich glaube nicht, das es an fehlenden KDE Paketen liegt. Vielleicht liegt es daran, das ich Gnome benutze und Konqueror von dort aus starte. Sollte aber eigentlich kein Problem sein. Die Konsole macht keine Fehlermeldung. Das Java Plugin erzählt was von Java process: unexpected request . Vielleicht sollte ich mir mal das JDK bei Sun direkt runterladen. Wenn ich die Zait dazu finde :-( ...muss dann ja bestimmt selbst compilieren, oder? Ausser im Konqueror läuft doch alles. Das stimmt. Zum Glück wenigstens das! Trotzdem will ich meine Websites in möglichst vielen Browsern testen, bevor ich Sie auf meine Domain packe. Und da KDE / Konqueror viel genutzt wird von Linuxern.. Da musst Du vielleicht auch mal ran. Viele BIOS können nämlich zwischen Plug and Play und nicht Plug and Play Systemen unterscheiden. Und für Linux sollte diese Einstellung auf No stehen. Linux ist nämlich kein Plug and Play System. Wenn das richtig bei dir eingestellt ist, dann findet der Kernel auch die IRQ's etc, die Er braucht und am BIOS muss nichts geändert werden für deine Hardware. Da 11-Online die Zugänge von T-Online verwendet, wird dem Benutzer nicht nur dynamisch und somit rein zufällig, eine lokale IP Adresse zugewiesen, sondern auch die IP Adresse der Gegenstelle wird dynamisch vergeben. Dies bringt das Problem, das unbekannt ist auf welche IP Adresse das Default Gateway gesetzt werden soll. Hier die Lösung: Man setzt die Default-Route erst einmal auf die fiktive IP Adresse und ersetzt sie sobald die Verbindung hergestellt wurde. Dazu wird das ausführbare Script /etc/ppp/ip-up angelegt welches aufgerufen wird sobald die IP Verbindung steht. #!/bin/sh #/etc/ppp/ip-up /sbin/route add default gw $5 metric 1 dev $1 Jetzt muss noch /etc/route.conf konfiguriert werden: Hier muss unbedingt eine default route gesezt werden, sonst kann keine automatische Verbindung hergestellt werden: # /etc/route.conf # In this file you can configure your static routing... # This file is read by /sbin/init.d/route. # Destination Dummy/GatewayNetmask Device 192.168.0.1192.168.0.1 255.255.255.255 ippp0 default192.168.0.1 Musstest Du dir derartiges nicht auch hin basteln? Ich habe es versucht, aber leider klappt das nicht. Habe sehr den Eindruck, die /etc/route.conf wird bei Debian garnicht benutzt. Ist nämlich ursprünglich nicht vorhanden gewesen. *** Java geht in keinem Browser :-( *** Hey Debians! Ich muss gerade ein Java Applet für eine Website schreiben, aber meine Browser weigern sich das Applet darzustellen. Netscape sagt über die Statusleiste Applet startet: ERROR. Konqueror schreibt in das Applet Loading Applet und dann passiert garnichts weiter. Von meiner Win Partition kann ich die Site (www.linux.matman24.de) problemlos mit IE laden und das Applet wird auch vollständig dargestellt. Also muss der Fehler im Debian System liegen (Woody, neueste). Ich habe alle vier JDK1.1.8 Pakete installiert. Der appletviewer funzt perfekt. Und auch sonst keine Probs bei der Applet Entwicklung. Nur die Browser eben.. :-( Muss doch die Software testen können. Konquereor meldet über Konsole sowas wie Class Menu.class not found in path. Selbes passiert, wenn ich damit vom www Server lade. Liegt also nicht an Apache, will ich meinen. Menu.class, ist mein Applet. Wieso findet der Browser den Pfad nicht? Wenn es nur GTK Progs betrifft, dann schau dir doch mal die
.gtkr in deinem Homeverzeichnis an. meine schaut so aus:
style default

font = -*-helvetica-medium-r-normal--*-120-*-*-*-*-*-*
Ist jetzt nur ein Ausschnitt. Die 120 ist für schriftgrösse 12. Du
musst da auch so eine Zeile haben. Scheinbar aber speziell für
die Menüs. In diesem Beispiel sind alle Bereiche (style default)
auf die selbe Schrift eingestellt, wenn keine weiteren
Anweisungen für Schriften enthalten sind.
Eventuell musst Du dir auch die gtkrc von deinem GTK Theme
ansehen. Findest Du in /usr/share/themes/THEME-NAME/gtk.
Und wenn Du Gnome installiert hast, kannst Du das auch
bequem mit dem Gnome Control Center einstellen.

*** Betrifft: Briefkopf, Signatur und Quots *** Liebe Mitmenschen! Hier sieht man mal wieder, wie kleinkariert das deutsche Volk doch ist. Alles was ausserhalb irgendeiner Norm liegt, wird sofort angegriffen. Ich habe lange Zeit die englische Mailinglist von Debian genutzt und NIE hat sich jemand über meine Signatur ( --) beschwert. Auch nicht über das Quoting. Wovon seid ihr blos besessen? Was den Briefkopf angeht, da bin ich zu dem Entschluss gekommen, diesen zu entfernen und den Hinweis auf meine Domain an das Ende der Mail zu setzen. Ich habe das aber ganz bestimmt nicht gemacht, weil es so üblich ist. Mir geht nämlich dieses ganze Getue nach dem Motto, Tu immer schön das, was anderen gefällt., zum einen Ohr rein, zum anderen gleich wieder raus. Ich ordne mich nicht unter, verbiege mich nicht für andere und lasse mich schon garnicht manipulieren. Wenn ich etwas für richtig halte, dann tue ich das auch. Egal was der Rest der Welt denkt. Und weil es in der Tat als störend wirken kann, wenn durch den Brifkopf vom Briefinhalt abgelenkt wird, habe ich so entschieden. In dieser Sache bin ich euren Bemerkungen dann auch dankbar. Also bitte nicht sauer werden, wenn ich in dieser Mail etwas quer denke und nicht eurer Norm entspreche. Ich bin eben so, wie ich bin. Und ich kann ja wohl erwarten, das man das so akzeptieren kann. Was das Quoting angeht ist es mir völlig egal, wie ich quote. Darum habe ich mich mal euren Wünschen gefügt und das standartmässige eingestellt. Allerdings kann und will ich nicht jedem Willen von euch entsprechen. Das Leben ist kein Wunschkonzert. Und wer zu viel von mir fordert, der wird sein blaues Wunder erleben. Mein Vermieter z.B. hat versucht mich zu verarschen. Jetzt ist Er pleite. Die Details darüber kann ich hier natürlicht nicht verraten. Wäre zu lang. Es ist eher als Warnung zu verstehen. Und damit ihr es begreifen könnt: Ich bin ein sehr friedliebender Mensch, der alle Eigenarten des Lebens akzeptieren kann, solange es nicht auf Kosten anderer geht. Wer aber versucht mich einzuschränken, der wird erfolglos bleiben. So dann auch meine Reaktion wegen der Beschwerden über meine Signatur. Es gibt jetzt keine Signatur mehr bei mir. Kernel 2.4.x BUG !!
Dear Debian Users! I had found a bug that is in kernel-2.4.1 and kernel-2.4.2. I write this to you cause i am a very convinced debian user, in hope you can fix this for others of the debian group, they could have the same nerve-racking trouble like i had with this. It is an error that comes, by compiling the kernel for the AMD Duron processor. It seems to be possible that AMD Athlon users will have the same problem. Hi, you will need the files in /boot bevore cylinder 1024, because your BIOS can´t read anything after this border. And the BIOS starts the booting. If you like to install Linux and another OS like M$-Windows on one harddisk, it is recommended to create an own partition for /boot. I have 8 MB for this. That is more then enough cause the files in /boot takes 1 MB. If you like to install only Debian on your harddisk you don´t need this /boot-partition. But you must set the partition / at the beginnig of your harddisk. This is neccessary. Cause this is then the bootpartition too and needs a beginning bevore cylinder 1024. Thanx for your trie to help me. I checked the HIST* variables and all was ok. Then i made this discovery : By typing exit for a normal logout the bashhistory will be saved. But if i use Strg+Alt+Del for a reboot or if i use the command shutdown -h now, the bashhistory will not be saved. This was not so than i used RadHat and SuSE, which i tested bevor i get the meaning that Debian is the right thing for me. Is there any possibility to tell the bash that she shall save the history by using Strg+Alt+Del and shutdown -h now? And i know that somebody don´t like letters like this. But have this people the right to say chain letter are always bad? Some people like to make big panic at media. Every day this happens on radio, tv and also in the internet. If i would beleve al this informaitions i had always fear to get a virus (equal whether i get it on compuer or my body) or another very bad thing will happen with me. Hi Peter! /etc/modules.conf includes all the names of modules, they are installed into your kernel. I´m not shure whether modconf has generated this file. But modconf will write into it by selecting a module to put it into the kernel. The kernel reads this file to see which modules shall be load at booting. [If here is a mistake please correct me. dpkg-architecture
Hi, i patched my gcc with pgcc for pentium processors. Now my build architecture is i586. To compile some debian packages with dpkg-buildpackage -B i made changes for correct working with dpkg. First i changed the archtable file in dpkg sourcedir and after recompiling i changed %archtable in /usr/bin/dpkg-architecture. There are two problems now they could have the same cause. 1. By typing dpkg --print-architecture there is this message: dpkg: warning , architecture ´i586´ not in mapping table 2. By using dpkg-buildpackage -B there is a warning that i586 does not match buildarchitecture falling back to native compilation. Do you have some idea what i can do to fix this? Greetings of Matthias

I made much changes of fontpackages and found by doing this the minimal required packages for the fonts that X will work : xfonts-75dpi (or 100dpi) , xfonts-base , xfonts-pex. If you have all these packages installed i can do no more for you. You should also have installed xbaseclients , xserver-common , xserver for yourvideocard and xcontrib for a working X. All this packages i had taken from Debian-2.2.0 potato. Firewall (Linux new-comer)
Hi people! I´m sitting on a single computer. Yesterday i´ve read the firewall-HOWTO and was very confused cause there are examples for a network system. Is there any possibility to build a firewall or other usefull security systems for my machine? I like to use netscape navigator to have fun and for my work at internet. And i don´t like that others have access to my computer. Wich packages of Debian 2.2 potato should i use for this purpose? Or is there some better software available of other developers? Hi all. I'm new to the lists and to Debian too. I had installed Debian 2.2. The install process work fine but I don't know how to install, remove o query the packages of the distribution. I had used Redhat with rpm. Where can I find information about package manager on debian? Thanks and sorry for my english! Easyest way to manage the debianpackages is to use the command dselect. Infos about that you can find by typing man dselect or info dselect. To add a package from the list, shown after typing dselect, you need to use this sign : +. With - you delete a package without configurationfiles and with _ it will be removed with its configurationfiles. Alternative way is to use the command dpkg. More about this tool is also readable by typing man dpkg. dpkg -i packagename will work like rpm -i packagename. have a lucky day
NFS new-comer question
Hi people! Do i need anything for NFS at my single computer? I don´t plan to mount any filesystem over an internetconnection or somthing like this. Whilst booting i get this messages from the bootscript : Starting NFS common utilitis : statd lockd .. . Not starting NFS kernel kernel daemon : No exports Can i remove the NFS utilitis and NFS support of kernel to have a faster boot and more space on harddisk? Access to WWW via ISDN and Netscape Navigator (beginner)
Hi linuxuser! I had installed Debian 2.2r0 potato. First the basesystem and all packages of the directorys Imp and Std. Next i installed the X Window system Netscape and isdnutils. I think the ISDN-card is working cause i had a connection of one second by typing isdnctrl dial ippp0 on consiole. Isdnlog made this message. If i now start netscape there is a message like netscape is unable to locate the server ... And there is another window wirh a reference to the environmentvariable SOCKS_NS. I´m sorry, but i don´t understand this text. Must i set this variable to use netscape as normal user? And if yes, what is the content of SOCKS_NS? Is there any other that i had forget to do?
