The problem is that all processes started by users have a nice value of
-2. The root cause seems to be that the sshd daemon seems to start with
-2, and as a result, when logging in, bash is also started with -2 and
therefore all further processes too.

I have searched a lot, but all answers I found don't seem to apply here.
For example, my /etc/security/limits.conf only has these entries:

* soft nproc 150
* hard nproc 200

I also can't spot anything weird in /etc/ssh/sshd_config.

What could be causing sshd to start with nice -2 by default?

(Just bumping.)

I ’ m using my server to run gameservers and need a high timer. Is there
any precompiled kernels (high performance, real-time) that can be
downloaded trough apt-get that I can use?

I dont like compiling my own kernels as I have to keep it updated
manually when security fixes comes out.

I'm interested in this as well. Currently I have my own kernel compiled
to run my HLDS and SRCDS server; I couldn't find a ready made one. I
don't even think there exists one.

After changing LVM settings, fstab options got lost

2009-03-04 Thread Nikos Chantziaras
I resized an LVM volume in system-config-lvm, and this wiped out all my
custom mount options in /etc/fstab and reset them to the ones used at
installation time. I didn't notice it until disk quotas were exceeded
  without me getting a warning about it (since it also wiped out the
usrjquota mount options). Is there something I'm missing here? This
should not happen, I think.

Re: Which C++ Library am I Looking For?

I have a program that compiled fine on Etch, but when I compile it on
Lenny, it's looking for a function called transform. I've tried
comparing library lists of the libs installed on the Etch system and the
Lenny one, but it's a long list. As best I can tell, transform is in a
standard C++ library and it looks like those are installed on the Lenny
system.

I've tried Google, but with the keywords of C++, library, and transform,
it's hard to narrow it down and find just what package I'm looking for.

Any help on this would be a big help. Any C++ coders out there who can
suggest what library/package I need to install?

You need:

  #include algorithm

to use this function.

Both technical and logical inputs or explanation is greatly appreciated.

Because Debian sounds cooler. CentOS sounds like it's worth a cent.

To give a serious answer: because I know how to use Debian. Choosing
CentOS would lower my productivity because I'm not familiar with it.
Time spent on learning it is lost money since time == money ;)
