 Hi,

I tried installing the mailpgp package but it complains about not having
pgp-i or pgp-us. How do I install these, and how can I automate pgp into
 something like pine, for example?

 Thanks
 Ricardo

pgp is at:

BRThis site also carries packages that can't be at ftp.debian.org
due to legal reasons (e.g. export restrictions) in
 A
HREF=ftp://os.inf.tu-dresden.de/pub/debian-non-US;ftp://os.inf.tu-dresden.de/pub/debian-non-US/A

pgp-i is better but supposed by some illegal in US. Some languages
support
is included, some you should get yourself. I don't use pine but elm incorporates
pgp straightforward without mailpgp.

Multitasking and system freeze

1996-12-30 Thread Ricardas Cepas

Hello,

I often encounter the following problem: when system is
heavily loaded, the speed drops unproportionally fast and system
gets frozen completely (for example, when I receive more mail).
Ctrl+Alt+Del stops working.
Some test I performed on 486SX, 4MB RAM, 32MB swap, kernel 2.0.6,
libc5 5.4.13-1 :
date
for i in 1 2 3 4 5 6 7; do gzip -qc core /dev/null wait $!; done; date
for i in 1 2 3 4 5 6 7; do gzip -qc core /dev/null done; wait $!; date
gives:
Mon Dec 30 10:38:39 EET 1996
Mon Dec 30 10:39:03 EET 1996
Mon Dec 30 10:41:56 EET 1996
After increasing the number of processes only `Reset' button
helps.
Is there any solution ?

Thanks,

Base system installation

1996-09-09 Thread Ricardas Cepas

Hello,

I'm new to Unix and just installing Debian Linux base
system (07-14-96). At first all goes well, except that I have
to use fdisk instead of cfdisk because of lack of memory, but
at the end of kernel installation I get the message like this :
 Unresolved symbols in module lib/mod/2.0.6/fs/nfs.o
 Unresolved symbols in module lib/mod/2.0.6/net/de4x5.o
 Unresolved symbols in module lib/mod/current/fs/nfs.o
 Unresolved symbols in module lib/mod/current/net/de4x5.o
Determining module dependencies
 Unresolved symbols in module lib/mod/2.0.6/fs/nfs.o
 Unresolved symbols in module lib/mod/2.0.6/net/de4x5.o
 Unresolved symbols in module lib/mod/current/fs/nfs.o
 Unresolved symbols in module lib/mod/current/net/de4x5.o

After that program pretends that all is O.K. Sometimes
just before that message system remains still for at least 20 min.
until I switch to second console, then reading from floppy resumes.
I have tried turn off caches, but that changes nothing. I have
also written floppies back to files and checked md5sum's.
May I consider this installation successful ?
My system: VLB MB 486-GVT, CPU i486SX-25, RAM 4MB, IDE HDD
330MB with GoldStar Prime 2C MKIII ISA I/O card.
BIOS: AMI V1.02 X0-0100-001121-0010-021993-VIA

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
Yours,
